  • Convert byte array from Oracle RAW to System.Guid?

    My app interacts with both Oracle and SQL Server databases using a custom data access layer written in ADO.NET using DataReaders. Right now I'm having a problem with the conversion between GUIDs (which we use for primary keys) and the Oracle RAW datatype. Inserts into oracle are fine (I just use the ToByteArray() method on System.Guid). The problem is converting back to System.Guid when I load records from the database. Currently, I'm using the byte array I get from ADO.NET to pass into the constructor for System.Guid. This appears to be working, but the Guids that appear in the database do not correspond to the Guids I'm generating in this manner. I can't change the database schema or the query (since it's reused for SQL Server). I need code to convert the byte array from Oracle into the correct Guid.

  • kill -9 doesn't work

    I have a server with 3 oracle instances on it, and the file system is nfs with netapp. After shutdown the databases, one process for each database doesn't quit for a long time. Each kill -i doesn't work. I tried to truss, pfile it, the command through error. And iostat shows there are lots of IO to the netapp server. So someone said the process was busy writing data to remote netapp server, and before the write complete, it won't quit. So what need to be done was just wait until all the IO was done. After wait for longer time (about 1.5 hours), the processes exit. So my question is: how can a process ignore the kill signal? As far as I know, if we kill -9, it will stop immediately. Do you encounter such situation kill -i doesn't kill the process right away?   • How to programmatically answer "Yes" to WebBrowser control security alert

    I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

    I have been investigating this number theoretic function (found in the Height model) and I need to query for things based on the prime factorization of the primary key, or id. I have created a model for Factors of the id which maintains all of the prime factors. class Height(models.Model): b = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) c = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) d = models.FloatField(null=True, blank=True) class Factors(models.Model): height = models.ForeignKey(Height, null=True, blank=True) factor = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) degree = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) prime_id = models.IntegerField(null=True, blank=True) For example, if id=24, then the associated entries in the factors table would be height_id=24,factor=2,degree=3,prime_id=0 height_id=24,factor=3,degree=1,prime_id=1 the prime_id keep track of the relative order of the primes. Now let p < q < r < s all be prime numbers and a,b,c,d be positive integers. Then I want to be able to query for all Heights of the form id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d). Now this is simple in the case that all of p,q,r,s,a,b,c,d are known in that I can just run Height.objects.get(id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d)) But I need to be able to query for something like (2**a)*(3**2)*(r**c)*(s**d) where r,s,a,d are unknown and all Heights of such form will be returned. Furthermore, not all of the rows in Height will have exactly four prime factors, so I need to make sure that I am not matching rows of the form id=(p**a)*(q**b)*(r**c)*(s**d)*(t**e)... From what I can tell, the following MySQL query accomplishes this, but I would like to do it through the Django ORM. I also don't know if this MySQL query is the proper way to go about doing things.     In Oracle (10g), when I use a View (not Materialized View), does Oracle take into account the where clause when it executes the view? Let's say I have: MY_VIEW = SELECT * FROM PERSON P, ORDERS O WHERE P.P_ID = O.P_ID And I then execute the following: SELECT * FROM MY_VIEW WHERE MY_VIEW.P_ID = '1234' When this executes, does oracle first execute the query for the view and THEN filter it based on my where clause (where MY_VIEW.P_ID = '1234') or does it do this filtering as part of the execution of the view? If it does not do the latter, and P_ID had an index, would I also lose out on the indexing capability since Oracle would be executing my query against the view which doesn't have the index rather than the base table which has the index?

    I'm currently working on a project in ruby, and I hit a wall on how I should proceed. In the project I'm using Dir.glob to search a directory and all of its subdirectories for certain file types and placing them into an arrays. The type of files I'm working with all have the same file name and are differentiated by their extensions. For example, txt_files = Dir.glob("**/*.txt") doc_files = Dir.glob("**/*.doc") rtf_files = Dir.glob("**/*.rtf") Would return something similar to, FILECON.txt ASSORTED.txt FIRST.txt FILECON.doc ASSORTED.doc FIRST.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.rtf FIRST.rtf So, the question I have is how I could break down these arrays efficiently (dealing with thousands of files) and placing all files with the same filename into an array. The new array would look like, FILECON.txt FILECON.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.txt ASSORTED.doc ASSORTED.rtf etc. etc. I'm not even sure if glob would be the correct way to do this (all the files with the same file name are in the same folders). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using jquery to get an already existing script declared inside the page, inside a createDocument() element, from an AJAX call. Now, inside this "script_content", there are auto executing functions, like $(document).ready(function(){...}) that, everything I "eval" the innerHTML, it executes this code, halting my encapsulated script. like variables that doesn't exist, etc removing certain parts of the script using regex isn't really an option... what I really wanted is to "walk" inside the function. like do a (completely fictional): script = eval("function(){" + script_content + "};"); alert(script['local_xw_sig']); // a03ucc34095cw3495 is there any way to 'disassemble' the function, and be able to reach the "var"s inside of it? like this function: function hello(){ var message = "hello"; } alert(hello.message); // message = var inside the function is it possible at all? or I will have to hack my way using regex? ;P [2] also, is there any way I can access javascript inside a document created with "createDocument"?

    I want to have username URL's and Base 58 short URL's to resources both off of the root url like this: http://mydomain.com/username #=> goes to given user http://mydomain.com/a3x9 #=> goes to given story I am aware of the possibilities of a user names conflicting with short urls, and I have a workaround, but what I can't figure out is the best way to set this up in rails. Can I do it in rails routes? Should I do something with a piece of Rack middleware? Should I set up a routing controller? Please let me know the best way to do this. Thanks so much!

    Hello, My user model has three relations for the same message model, and is using raw SQL :/ Is there a better more rails way to achieve the same result? Could the foreign key be changed dynamically? e.g User.messages.sent (foreign key = author_id) and User.messages.received (foreign key = recipient ) I have been trying to move some of the logic into scopes in the message model, but the user.id is not available from the message model... Any thoughts?
