• Getting Google results in Java? Need help!

  Hello. Right now, I'm trying to get the results from Google in Java, by searching for a term. I'm using a desktop program, not an applet. That in itself isn't complicated. but then Google gave me a 403 error. Anyways, I added referrer and User Agent and then it worked. Now, my problem is that I don't get the results page from Google. Instead, I get their script which gets the results page. My code right now simply uses a GET request on "http://www.google.com/search?q=" + Dork; Then it outputs each line. Here is what I get when I run my program: <.!doctype html<.head<.titledork - Google Search<./title<.scriptwindow.google={kEI:"9myaS-Date).getTime()}}};try{}catch(u){}window.google.jsrt_kill=1; align:center}#logo{display:block;overflow:hidden;position:relative;width:103px;height:37px; <./ script<./div Lots of stuff like that. I shortened it (A LOT) and put in dots to fit it here. So my big question is: How do I turn this whole mess into the nice results page I get when searching Google with a browser? Any help would be seriously appreciated, and I really need the answer fast. Also, please keep in mind that I do NOT want to use Google's API for this. Thanks in advance!

• How to sort the file names in bash in this circumstance?

  I have run a program to generate some results with the different parameters(i.e. the R, C and RP). These results are saved in files named results.txt. Then, I should parse these experimental results to make an analysis. In the params_R_7_C_16_RP_0, the 7 is the value of the parameter R, the 16 is the value of the parameter C and the 0 is the value of the parameter RP. Now, I want to get these results.txt files in the current directory to parse, and sort the path with the parameter values of R,C and RP. • Is there a programming toolkit for converting "any file type" to a TIFF image?

  Hello, I've written several variations of a program. The purpose of the program is to convert "any file type" to a TIFF image represenation of that file, as if it were being printed using a printer. I'm currently using a third party printer driver that I send files to, and it outputs a TIFF image. This is nice, but it requires me to use Office Interop files, and interact with each individual processing application in order to print the files. I had previously tried a toolkit, called Apose .NET, which did not rely on Office Interop, and did not require any printer driver. It did the conversion all on its own and would create a TIFF image. The problem with Aspose .NET was that it did not support a wide variety of input file types. Most notably, it can't do Visio files. My project calls for the ability to create a TIFF image for virtually "any file type". (excluding exes, music files, and stuff) I know that finding something that handles literally any file type is probably not a very feasible task, so I figure if it can at least handle all the Office file types, Adobe types, and other major standard file types, then I can write a custom extension parsing module that uses those processing applications to do the printing of any file type that can be viewed using those applications. So, does anyone know of a toolkit that can do this? Preferably one that does not rely on Office or a printer driver. It does not have to be free, or open source. Or, if you know of an amazing printer driver that does this, I'm open to that too. Thanks in advance, Ryan

This will be easier on the developers eye because both Profile and Membership expose a lot of methods that look similar (and a few by Role). For example, getting a user's ID would look like: int _id = Namespace.Api.Member.GetUserId("Henry222"); Can somebody "illustrate" how subclassing should work in this case to achieve the effect I am looking for?   Hi all, I'm programming a PIC18F4455 Microcontroller using PIC C. I'm using the USB_CDC.h header file. I have a program on the computer sending a string such as "W250025". However, when I use usb_cdc_getc() to get the first char, it freezes. Sometimes the program sends only 'T', so I really want to just get the first character. • Embedding Perl Interpreter

  Hi, just downloaded ActivePerl. I want to embed the perl interpreter in a C# application (or at least call the perl interpreter from C#). I need to be able to send send out data to Perl from C#, then receive the output back into C#. I just installed ActivePerl, and added MS Script Control 1.0 as a reference. I found this code on the internet, but am having trouble getting it to work. MSScriptControl.ScriptControlClass Interpreter = new MSScriptControl.ScriptControlClass(); Interpreter.Language = @"ActivePerl"; string Program = @"reverse 'abcde'"; string Results = (string)Interpreter.Eval(Program); return Results; Originally, it had 'PerlScript' instead of 'ActivePerl', but neither work for me. I'm not entirely sure what Interpreter.Language expects. Does it require the path to the interpreter? Solved... I'm not sure how, but when I changed it back to PerlScript it works now. Still, I would like to know if MSScript Control is using ActivePerl or another interpreter.

  I'm trying to use the CoreCon API in Visual Studio 2008 to programmatically launch device emulators. When I call device.Connect(), I inexplicably get a DirectoryNotFoundException. I get it if I try it in PowerShell or in C# Console Application. • Using hash tables in racket

  Im working on an Ngrams program and im having trouble filling out my hash table. i want to write out a recursive function that will take the words and add them to the hash table. The way its supposed to work is given the data set 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 the first entry in the hash table should have a key of [1 2] and the data should be 3. The second entry should be: [2 3] and its data should be 4 and continuing on until the end of the text file. we are given a predefined function called readword that will simply return 1 word from the text. But im not sure how to make these calls overlap each other. The calls would look something like this if the data was hard coded in. (hash-set! (list "1" "2") 3 (hash-set! (list "2" "3") 4 2 calls that ive tried look like this (hash-set! Ngram-table(list((word1) (word2)) readword in))) (hash-set! Ngram-table(append((cdr data) word1)) readword in) apparently the in after readword is supposed to tell the computer that this is and input instead of an output or something like that. How would I call this to make the data in the key of the hashtable overlap like this? And what would the recursive call look like? edit: also we are not allowed to use assigment statements in this program.

• Objective-C respondsToSelector question.

  From what I have learned so far: In Objective-C you can send any message to any object. If the object does implement the right method it will be executed otherwise nothing will happen. This is because before the message is send Objective-C will perform respondsToSelector. I hope I am right so far. I did a little program for testing where an action is invoked every time a slider is moved. Also for testing I set the sender to NSButton but in fact it is an NSSlider. Now I asked the object if it will respond to setAlternateTitle. While a NSButton will do and NSSlider will not. If I run the code and do respondsToSelector myself it will tell me the object will not respond to that selector. If I test something else like intValue, it will respond. So my code is fine so far. - (IBAction)sliderDidMove:(id)sender { NSButton *slider = sender; BOOL responds = [slider respondsToSelector:@selector(setAlternateTitle)]; if(responds == YES) { NSLog(@"YES"); } else { NSLog(@"NO"); } [slider setAlternateTitle:@"Hello World"]; } But when I actually send the setAlternateTitle message the program will crash and I am not exactly sure why. Shouldn't it do a respondsToSelector before sending the message?

• Drop Down Box and other stuff in ASP.NET with VB.NET (VS 2008)

  Hi all, I am trying to polish up a program a program that I have converted from a Windows Form in to an ASP.NET Web Application. I have several questions: 1.) I have a drop down box where users can select their variables, but users can also enter their variables manually into various text fields. What I want is for the drop down box to show a string like "Choose Variables" when ever the user enters their variables manually. I want this to happen without having to reload the page. 2.) In the Windows Form version of this application I had a RichTextBox that populated with data (line by line) after a calculation was made. I used "AppendText" in my Windows Form, but that is not available in ASP.NET, and neither is the RichTextBox. I am open to suggestions here, I tried to use just a text box but that isn't working right. 3.) In my Windows Form application I was using "KeyPress" events to prevent incorrect characters from being entered into the text fields. My code for these events looked similar to this: Private Sub TextBox_KeyPress(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TextBox.KeyPress If (e.KeyChar < "0" OrElse e.KeyChar > "9") AndAlso e.KeyChar <> ControlChars.Back AndAlso e.KeyChar <> "." Then e.Handled = True End If End Sub How can I make this work again... also without reloading the page. 4.) This is not a major issue, but I would like all of the text to be selected when the cursor enters a field. • How to Display a Bmp in a RTF control in VB.net

  I Started with this C# Question I'm trying to Display a bmp image inside a rtf Box for a Bot program I'm making. This function is supposed to convert a bitmap to rtf code whis is inserted to another rtf formatter srtring with additional text. Kind of like Smilies being used in a chat program. For some reason the output of this function gets rejected by the RTF Box and Vanishes completly. • How to make designer generated .Net application settings portable

  Hello, I've been looking at modifying the source of the Doppler podcast aggregator with the goal of being able to run the program directly from my mp3 player. Doppler stores application settings using a Visual Studio designer generated Settings class, which by default serializes user settings to the user's home directory. I'd like to change this so that all settings would be stored in the same directory as the exe. It seems that this would be possible by creating a custom provider class which inherits the SettingsProvider class. Has anyone created such a provider and would like to share code? Update: I was able to get a custom settings provider nearly working by using this MSDN sample, i.e. with simple inheritance. I was initially confused as Windows Forms designer stopped working until I did this trick suggested at Codeproject: internal sealed partial class Settings { private MySettingsProvider settingsprovider = new MySettingsProvider(); public Settings() { foreach (SettingsProperty property in this.Properties) { property.Provider = settingsprovider; } ... • Issue with getting 2 chars from string using indexer

  I am facing an issue in reading char values. See my program below. I want to evaluate an infix expression. As you can see I want to read '10' , '*', '20' and then use them...but if I use string indexer s[0] will be '1' and not '10' and hence I am not able to get the expected result.
