  • Why is only the first shown window focusable

    - by Miha Markic
    Imagine the code below. Only the first window appears on the top, all of subsequent windows won't nor can they be programatically focused for some reason (they appear in the background). Any idea how to workaround this? BTW, static methods/properties are not allowed nor is any global property. [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Thread t1 = new Thread(CreateForm); t1.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t1.Start(); t1.Join(); t1 = new Thread(CreateForm); t1.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t1.Start(); t1.Join(); } private static void CreateForm() { using (Form f = new Form()) { System.Windows.Forms.Timer t = new System.Windows.Forms.Timer { Enabled = true, Interval = 2000 }; t.Tick += (s, e) => { f.Close(); t.Enabled = false; }; f.TopMost = true; Application.Run(f); } }

  • Python parsing error message functions

    - by user1716168
    The code below was created by me with the help of many SO veterans: The code takes an entered math expression and splits it into operators and operands for later use. I have created two functions, the parsing function that splits, and the error function. I am having problems with the error function because it won't display my error messages and I feel the function is being ignored when the code runs. An error should print if an expression such as this is entered: 3//3+4,etc. where there are two operators together, or there are more than two operators in the expression overall, but the error messages dont print. My code is below: def errors(): numExtrapolation,opExtrapolation=parse(expression) if (len(numExtrapolation) == 3) and (len(opExtrapolation) !=2): print("Bad1") if (len(numExtrapolation) ==2) and (len(opExtrapolation) !=1): print("Bad2") def parse(expression): operators= set("*/+-") opExtrapolate= [] numExtrapolate= [] buff=[] for i in expression: if i in operators: numExtrapolate.append(''.join(buff)) buff= [] opExtrapolate.append(i) opExtrapolation=opExtrapolate else: buff.append(i) numExtrapolate.append(''.join(buff)) numExtrapolation=numExtrapolate #just some debugging print statements print(numExtrapolation) print("z:", len(opExtrapolation)) return numExtrapolation, opExtrapolation errors() Any help would be appreciated. Please don't introduce new code that is any more advanced than the code already here. I am looking for a solution to my problem... not large new code segments. Thanks.

  • Get the first and last posts in a thread

    - by Grampa
    I am trying to code a forum website and I want to display a list of threads. Each thread should be accompanied by info about the first post (the "head" of the thread) as well as the last. My current database structure is the following: threads table: id - int, PK, not NULL, auto-increment name - varchar(255) posts table: id - int, PK, not NULL, auto-increment thread_id - FK for threads The tables have other fields as well, but they are not relevant for the query. I am interested in querying threads and somehow JOINing with posts so that I obtain both the first and last post for each thread in a single query (with no subqueries). So far I am able to do it using multiple queries, and I have defined the first post as being: SELECT * FROM threads t LEFT JOIN posts p ON t.id = p.thread_id ORDER BY p.id LIMIT 0, 1 The last post is pretty much the same except for ORDER BY id DESC. Now, I could select multiple threads with their first or last posts, by doing: SELECT * FROM threads t LEFT JOIN posts p ON t.id = p.thread_id ORDER BY p.id GROUP BY t.id But of course I can't get both at once, since I would need to sort both ASC and DESC at the same time. What is the solution here? Is it even possible to use a single query? Is there any way I could change the structure of my tables to facilitate this? If this is not doable, then what tips could you give me to improve the query performance in this particular situation?

  • Strange results about C++11 memory model (Relaxed ordering)

    - by Dancing_bunny
    I was testing the example in the memory model of the Anthony Williams's book "C++ Concurrency" #include<atomic> #include<thread> #include<cassert> std::atomic_bool x,y; std::atomic_int z; void write_x_then_y() { x.store(true, std::memory_order_relaxed); y.store(true, std::memory_order_relaxed); } void read_y_then_x() { while(!y.load(std::memory_order_relaxed)); if(x.load(std::memory_order_relaxed)) { ++z; } } int main() { x = false; y = false; z = 0; std::thread a(write_x_then_y); std::thread b(read_y_then_x); a.join(); b.join(); assert(z.load()!=0); } According to the explanation, relaxed operations on difference variables (here x and y) can be freely reordered. However, I repeated running the problem for more than several days. I never hit the situation that the assertion (assert(z.load()!=0);) fires. I just use the default optimization and compile the code using g++ -std=c++11 -lpthread dataRaceAtomic.cpp Does anyone actually try it and hit the assertion? Could anyone give me an explanation about my test results? BTW, I also tried the version without using the atomic type, I got the same result. Currently, both programs are running healthily. Thanks.

  • Cannot perform an ORDERBY against my EF4 data

    - by Jaxidian
    I have a query hitting EF4 using STEs and I'm having an issue with user-defined sorting. In debugging this, I have removed the dynamic sorting and am hard-coding it and I still have the issue. If I swap/uncomment the var results = xxx lines in GetMyBusinesses(), my results are not sorted any differently - they are always sorting it ascendingly. FYI, Name is a varchar(200) field in SQL 2008 on my Business table. private IQueryable<Business> GetMyBusinesses(MyDBContext CurrentContext) { var myBusinesses = from a in CurrentContext.A join f in CurrentContext.F on a.FID equals f.id join b in CurrentContext.Businesses on f.BID equals b.id where a.PersonID == 52 select b; var results = from r in myBusinesses orderby "Name" ascending select r; //var results = from r in results // orderby "Name" descending // select r; return results; } private PartialEntitiesList<Business> DoStuff() { var myBusinesses = GetMyBusinesses(); var myBusinessesCount = GetMyBusinesses().Count(); Results = new PartialEntitiesList<Business>(myBusinesses.Skip((PageNumber - 1)*PageSize).Take(PageSize).ToList()) {UnpartialTotalCount = myBusinessesCount}; return Results; } public class PartialEntitiesList<T> : List<T> { public PartialEntitiesList() { } public PartialEntitiesList(int capacity) : base(capacity) { } public PartialEntitiesList(IEnumerable<T> collection) : base(collection) { } public int UnpartialTotalCount { get; set; } }

  • using threads in menu options

    - by vbNewbie
    I have an app that has a console menu with 2/3 selections. One process involves uploading a file and performing a lengthy search process on its contents, whilst another process involves SQL queries and is an interactive process with the user. I wish to use threads to allow one process to run and the menu to offer the option for the second process to run. However you cannot run the first process twice. I have created threads and corrected some compilation errors but the threading options are not working correctly. Any help appreciated. main... Dim tm As Thread = New Thread(AddressOf loadFile) Dim ts As Thread = New Thread(AddressOf reports) .... While Not response.Equals("3") Try Console.Write("Enter choice: ") response = Console.ReadLine() Console.WriteLine() If response.Equals("1") Then Console.WriteLine("Thread 1 doing work") tm.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA) tm.IsBackground = True tm.Start() response = String.Empty ElseIf response.Equals("2") Then Console.WriteLine("Starting a second Thread") ts.Start() response = String.Empty End If ts.Join() tm.Join() Catch ex As Exception errormessage = ex.Message End Try End While I realize that a form based will be easier to implement with perhaps just calling different forms to handle the processes.But I really dont have that option now since the console app will be added to api later. But here are my two processes from the menu functions. Also not sure what to do with the boolean variabel again as suggested below. Private Sub LoadFile() Dim dialog As New OpenFileDialog Dim response1 As String = Nothing Dim filepath As String = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.MyDocuments) dialog.InitialDirectory = filepath If dialog.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then fileName = dialog.FileName ElseIf DialogResult.Cancel Then Exit Sub End If Console.ResetColor() Console.Write("Begin Search -- Discovery Search, y or n? ") response1 = Console.ReadLine() If response1 = "y" Then Search() ElseIf response1 = "n" Then Console.Clear() main() End If isRunning = False End Sub and the second one Private Shared Sub report() Dim rptGen As New SearchBlogDiscovery.rptGeneration Console.WriteLine("Tread Process started") rptGen.main() Console.WriteLine("Thread Process ended") isRunning = False End Sub

  • SELECT product from subclass: How many queries do I need?

    - by Stefano
    I am building a database similar to the one described here where I have products of different type, each type with its own attributes. I report a short version for convenience product_type ============ product_type_id INT product_type_name VARCHAR product ======= product_id INT product_name VARCHAR product_type_id INT -> Foreign key to product_type.product_type_id ... (common attributes to all product) magazine ======== magazine_id INT title VARCHAR product_id INT -> Foreign key to product.product_id ... (magazine-specific attributes) web_site ======== web_site_id INT name VARCHAR product_id INT -> Foreign key to product.product_id ... (web-site specific attributes) This way I do not need to make a huge table with a column for each attribute of different product types (most of which will then be NULL) How do I SELECT a product by product.product_id and see all its attributes? Do I have to make a query first to know what type of product I am dealing with and then, through some logic, make another query to JOIN the right tables? Or is there a way to join everything together? (if, when I retrieve the information about a product_id there are a lot of NULL, it would be fine at this point). Thank you

  • T-SQL: how to sort table rows based on 2 columns

    - by Criss Nautilus
    I'm quite stuck with this problem for sometime now.. How do I sort column A depending on the contents of Column B? I have this sample: ID count columnA ColumnB 12 1 A B 13 2 C D 14 3 B C I want to sort it like this: ID count ColumnA ColumnB 12 1 A B 14 3 B C 13 2 C D so I need to sort the rows if the previous row of ColumnB = the next row of ColumnA I'm thinking a loop? but can't quite imagine how it will work... I was thinking it will go like this (maybe) SELECT a.ID, a.ColumnA, a.ColumnB FROM TableA WITH a (NOLOCK) LEFT JOIN TableA b WITH (NOLOCK) ON a.ID = b.ID and a.counts = b.counts Where a.columnB = b.ColumnA the above code isn't working though and I was thinking more on the lines of... DECLARE @counts int = 1 DECLARE @done int = 0 --WHILE @done = 0 BEGIN SELECT a.ID, a.ColumnA, a.ColumnB FROM TableA WITH a (NOLOCK) LEFT JOIN TableA b WITH (NOLOCK) ON a.ID = b.ID and a.counts = @counts Where a.columnB = b.ColumnA set @count = @count +1 END If this was a C code, would be easier for me but t-sql's syntax is making it a bit harder for a noobie like me.

    I'm building a phonehap application. I'm using an web sql and everything works fine till data retival. function getItemGroups(){ var items_groups = new Array(); var db = window.openDatabase("merbokDB", "1.0", "MerbokDB", 5232394); db.transaction( function(tx){ tx.executeSql('SELECT * FROM item_groups',[], function(tx,result){ if(result.rows.length > 0){ var len = result.rows.length; for (var i=0; i<len; i++){ items_groups.push(result.rows.item(i).item_group); } console.log(items_groups.join()); } } ,errorCB); }, errorCB); return items_groups; } var myproducts = getItemGroups(); My problem was when I run the code "myproducts" variable is blank. but the I can see console.log(items_groups.join()); following line printing the values in console. Is I'm wrong in the way I returning?

  • Slow query. Wrong database structure?

    - by Tin
    I have a database with table that contains tasks. Tasks have a lifecycle. The status of the task's lifecycle can change. These state transitions are stored in a separate table tasktransitions. Now I wrote a query to find all open/reopened tasks and recently changed tasks but I already see with a rather small number of tasks (<1000) that execution time has becoming very long (0.5s). Tasks +-------------+---------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-------------+---------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | taskid | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | description | text | NO | | NULL | | +-------------+---------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ Tasktransitions +------------------+-----------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +------------------+-----------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ | tasktransitionid | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | taskid | int(11) | NO | MUL | NULL | | | status | int(11) | NO | MUL | NULL | | | description | text | NO | | NULL | | | userid | int(11) | NO | | NULL | | | transitiondate | timestamp | NO | | CURRENT_TIMESTAMP | | +------------------+-----------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ Query SELECT tasks.taskid,tasks.description,tasklaststatus.status FROM tasks LEFT OUTER JOIN ( SELECT tasktransitions.taskid,tasktransitions.transitiondate,tasktransitions.status FROM tasktransitions INNER JOIN ( SELECT taskid,MAX(transitiondate) AS lasttransitiondate FROM tasktransitions GROUP BY taskid ) AS tasklasttransition ON tasklasttransition.lasttransitiondate=tasktransitions.transitiondate AND tasklasttransition.taskid=tasktransitions.taskid ) AS tasklaststatus ON tasklaststatus.taskid=tasks.taskid WHERE tasklaststatus.status IS NULL OR tasklaststatus.status=0 or tasklaststatus.transitiondate>'2013-09-01'; I'm wondering if the database structure is best choice performance wise. Could adding indexes help?   • What's the deal with the hidden Throw when catching a ThreadAbortException?

    - by priehl
    I'm going through a book of general c# development, and I've come to the thread abort section. The book says something along the lines that when you call Thread.Abort() on another thread, that thread will throw a ThreadAbortException, and even if you tried to supress it it would automatically rethrow it, unless you did some bs that's generally frowned upon. Here's the simple example offered. using System; using System.Threading; public class EntryPoint { private static void ThreadFunc() { ulong counter = 0; while (true) { try { Console.WriteLine("{0}", counter++); } catch (ThreadAbortException) { // Attempt to swallow the exception and continue. Console.WriteLine("Abort!"); } } } static void Main() { try { Thread newThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(EntryPoint.ThreadFunc)); newThread.Start(); Thread.Sleep(2000); // Abort the thread. newThread.Abort(); // Wait for thread to finish. newThread.Join(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.ToString()); } } } The book says: When your thread finishes processing the abort exception, the runtime implicitly rethrows it at the end of your exception handler. It’s the same as if you had rethrown the exception yourself. Therefore, any outer exception handlers or finally blocks will still execute normally. In the example, the call to Join won’t be waiting forever as initially expected. So i wrapped a try catch around the Thread.Abort() call and set a break point, expecting it to hit this, considering the text says "any outer exception handlers or finally blocks will still execute normally". BUT IT DOES NOT. I'm racking my brain to figure out why. Anyone have any thoughts on why this isn't the case? Is the book wrong? Thanks in advance.

  • Question on SQL Grouping

    - by Lijo
    Hi Team, I am trying to achieve the following without using sub query. For a funding, I would like to select the latest Letter created date and the ‘earliest worklist created since letter created’ date for a funding. FundingId Leter (1, 1/1/2009 )(1, 5/5/2009) (1, 8/8/2009) (2, 3/3/2009) FundingId WorkList (1, 5/5/2009 ) (1, 9/9/2009) (1, 10/10/2009) (2, 2/2/2009) Expected Result - FundingId Leter WorkList (1, 8/8/2009, 9/9/2009) I wrote a query as follows. It has a bug. It will omit those FundingId for which the minimum WorkList date is less than latest Letter date (even though it has another worklist with greater than letter created date). CREATE TABLE #Funding( [Funding_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_No] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Center_Center_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([Funding_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] CREATE TABLE #Letter( [Letter_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [CreatedDt] [SMALLDATETIME], CONSTRAINT [PK_Letter_Letter_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([Letter_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] CREATE TABLE #WorkList( [WorkList_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [Funding_ID] [int] NOT NULL, [CreatedDt] [SMALLDATETIME], CONSTRAINT [PK_WorkList_WorkList_ID] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED ([WorkList_ID] ASC) ) ON [PRIMARY] SELECT F.Funding_ID, Funding_No, MAX (L.CreatedDt), MIN(W.CreatedDt) FROM #Funding F INNER JOIN #Letter L ON L.Funding_ID = F.Funding_ID LEFT OUTER JOIN #WorkList W ON W.Funding_ID = F.Funding_ID GROUP BY F.Funding_ID,Funding_No HAVING MIN(W.CreatedDt) MAX (L.CreatedDt) How can I write a correct query without using subquery? Please help Thanks Lijo

  • Peoplesoft queries - performance

    - by DBa
    Hi, I'm facing a problem with PeopleSoft queries (using Oracle backend database): when a rather complex query involving multiple records is set off by a user, PS does an enforced join of security records, thus producing SQL like this: select .... from ps_job a, PS_EMPL_SRCQRY a1, ps_table2 b, ps_sec_rcd2 b1, ps_table3 c, ps_sec_rcd3 c1 where (...security joins a-a1, b-b1, c-c1...) and (...joins of a, b and c...) and a.setid_dept = 'XYZ'; (let's assume the last condition has a high selectivity and there is an index on the column) Obviously, due to the arrangement of the conditions, first a huge join is created, written to the temp segment, and when the last condition is finally applied, only a small subset is selected. A query formulated in this way is very likely to hit the preset timeout of the APPSRV, and even of the QRYSRV. When writing the query manually, I would rather move the most selective condition to the start, thus limiting the amount of the data being handled, to a considerable level. Any ideas on how to make PS behave like this? Actually, already rewriting "Oracle-styled" SQL to ANSI SQL seems to accelerate the queries - however, PS writes Oracle-style queries... Thanks in advance DBa

  • Checking if user owns file before deleting it

    - by Martin Hoe
    I'm building an API for my site that allows users to delete the files they upload. Obviously, I want to check if the user owns that file before they delete it through the API. I have a files table and a users table, here's the schema: f_id, s_id, u_id, name, size, uploaded u_id, username, password, email, activated, activation_code u_id is a foreign key. The u_id field in the files table points to the u_id in the users table. Given the users username, I want to find the users u_id, and then check if they own the file through the file ID (f_id). I wrote this SQL: $sql = 'SELECT u.username FROM `users` u JOIN `files` f ON u.u_id = f.u_id WHERE f_id = ? AND u.u_id = ? LIMIT 1'; I'm assuming that'd work if I was given the users u_id in the API request, but alas I'm given only their username. How can I modify that SQL to find their user ID and use that? Thanks. Edit: Alright I've got this query but it's always returning an empty result set even though both the file ID and username exist. SELECT u.username FROM `users` u JOIN `files` f ON u.u_id = f.u_id WHERE f.f_id = ? AND u.username = ? LIMIT 1

  • SQL code to display counts() of value retrieved from another column

    - by Doctor Trout
    I have three tables (these are the relevant columns): Table1 bookingid, person, role Table2 bookingid, projectid Table3 projectid, project, numberofrole1, numberofrole2 Table1.role can take two values: "role1" or "role2". What I want to do is to show which projects don't have the correct number of roles in Table1. The number of roles there there should be for each role is in Table3. For example, if Table1 contains these three rows: bookingid, person, role 7, Tim, role1 7, Bob, role1, 7, Charles, role2 and Table2 bookingid, projectid 7, 1 and Table3 projectid, project, numberofrole1, numberofrole2 1, Test1, 2, 2 I would like the results to show that there are not the correct number of role2s for project Test1. To be honest, something like this is a bit beyond my ability, so I'm open to suggestions on the best way to do this. I'm using sqlite and php (it's only a small project). I suppose I could do something with the php at the end once I've got my results, but I wondered if there was a better way to do it with sqlite. I started by doing something like this: SELECT project, COUNT(numberofrole1) as "Role" FROM Table1 JOIN Table2 USING (projectid) JOIN Table3 USING (bookingid) WHERE role="role1" GROUP BY project But I can't work out how to compare the value returned as "Role" with the value got from numberofrole1 Any help is gratefully received.

  • Converted PHP query to PDO and now getting no results

    - by jaw
    I had a query working just fine, but after converting it to PDO I am getting no results when I do a var_dump($row). But there are no error messages. Can anyone see what I might be doing wrong? //Here is the original query that worked fine and returned results global $wpdb; $results = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT stories.story_name, stories.category, stories.SID, wp_users.ID, wp_users.display_name FROM stories LEFT JOIN wp_users ON stories.ID=wp_users.ID where stories.active = 1"); //Here is the query in PDO form which returns no results $results = $dbh->prepare("select wp_users.ID, wp_users.display_name, stories.SID, stories.story_name, stories.category, FROM stories LEFT JOIN wp_users ON stories.ID=wp_users.ID WHERE stories.active=1"); $results->bindParam(':wp_users.ID', $user_ID, PDO::PARAM_INT); $results->bindParam(':display_name', $display_name, PDO::PARAM_STR); $results->bindParam(':stories.SID', $SID, PDO::PARAM_INT); $results->bindParam(':story_name', $story_name, PDO::PARAM_STR); $results->bindParam(':category', $category, PDO::PARAM_STR); $results->execute(); $row = $results->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); //returns 0 results but should return 8 as original code above did echo var_dump($row);

  • [Rails3] How to do multiple many to many relationships between the same two tables.

    - by Kurt
    Hi. I have a model of a club where I want to model the two entities Meeting and Member. There are actually two many-to-many relationships between these entities though, as for any meeting a Member can either be a Speaker or a Guest. Now I am an OO thinker, so would normally just create the two classes and each one would just have two arrays of the other inside, but rails is making me think a bit more data centric here, so I realise I need to break these M2M relationships up with join tables Speakers and Guests which I have done, but now I am having trouble describing the relationships in the models. The two join table models both have "belongs_to :meeting" and "belongs_to :member" and I think that should be sufficient. I am not however sure about the Meeting and Member models though. Each one has "has_many :guests" and "has_many: speakers" but I am not sure if I also want to go: has_many :members, :through = :guests has_many :members, :through = :speakers But I suspect that this is like declaring two "members" that will clash. I also thought about: has_many :guests, :through = :guests has_many :speakers, :through = :speakers Does that make sense? How would ActiveRecord know that they are in fact Members? I have found heaps of examples of polymorphic m2m relationships and m2m relationships where 1 table references itself, but no good examples to help me mode this situation where two separate tables have two different m2m relationships. Anyone got any tips?

  • MySQL subquery and bracketing

    - by text
    Here are my tables respondents: field sample value respondentid : 1 age : 2 gender : male survey_questions: id : 1 question : Q1 answer : sample answer answers: respondentid : 1 question : Q1 answer : 1 --id of survey question I want to display all respondents who answered the certain survey, display all answers and total all the answer and group them according to the age bracket. I tried using this query: SELECT res.Age, res.Gender, answer.id, answer.respondentid, SUM(CASE WHEN res.Gender='Male' THEN 1 else 0 END) AS males, SUM(CASE WHEN res.Gender='Female' THEN 1 else 0 END) AS females, CASE WHEN res.Age < 1 THEN 'age1' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 1 AND 4 THEN 'age2' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 4 AND 9 THEN 'age3' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 10 AND 14 THEN 'age4' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 15 AND 19 THEN 'age5' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 20 AND 29 THEN 'age6' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 30 AND 39 THEN 'age7' WHEN res.Age BETWEEN 40 AND 49 THEN 'age8' ELSE 'age9' END AS ageband FROM Respondents AS res INNER JOIN Answers as answer ON answer.respondentid=res.respondentid INNER JOIN Questions as question ON answer.Answer=question.id WHERE answer.Question='Q1' GROUP BY ageband ORDER BY res.Age ASC I was able to get the data but the listing of all answers are not present. Do I have to subquery SELECT into my current SELECT statement to show the answers? I want to produce something like this: ex: # of Respondents is 3 ages: 2,3 and 6 Question: what are your favorite subjects? Ages 1-4: subject 1: 1 subject 2: 2 subject 3: 2 total respondents for ages 1-4 : 2 Ages 5-10: subject 1: 1 subject 2: 1 subject 3: 0 total respondents for ages 5-10 : 1

  • Why aren't my threads start at the same time? Java

    - by Ada
    Hi, I have variable number of threads which are used for parallel downloading. I used this, for(int i = 0; i< sth; i++){ thrList.add(new myThread (parameters)); thrList.get(i).start(); thrList.get(i).join(); } I don't know why but they wait for each other to complete. When using threads, I am supposed get mixed print outs, since right then there are several threads running that code. However, when I print them out, they are always in order and one thread waits for the previous one to finish first. I only want them to join the main thread, not wait for each other. I noticed that when I measured time while downloading in parallel. How can I fix this? Why are they doing it in order? In my .java, there is MyThread class with run and there is Downloader class with static methods and variables. Would they be the cause of this? The static methods and variables? How can I fix this problem?

  • Distinct() to return List<> returning Duplicates

    - by KDM
    I have a list of Filters that are passed into a webservice and I iterate over the collection and do Linq query and then add to the list of products but when I do a GroupBy and Distinct() it doesn't remove the duplicates. I am using a IEnumerable because when you use Disinct it converts it to IEnumerable. If you know how to construct this better and make my function return a type of List<Product> that would be appreciated thanks. Here is my code in C#: if (Tab == "All-Items") { List<Product> temp = new List<Product>(); List<Product> Products2 = new List<Product>(); foreach (Filter filter in Filters) { List<Product> products = (from p in db.Products where p.Discontinued == false && p.DepartmentId == qDepartment.Id join f in db.Filters on p.Id equals f.ProductId join x in db.ProductImages on p.Id equals x.ProductId where x.Dimension == "180X180" && f.Name == filter.Name /*Filter*/ select new Product { Id = p.Id, Title = p.Title, ShortDescription = p.ShortDescription, Brand = p.Brand, Model = p.Model, Image = x.Path, FriendlyUrl = p.FriendlyUrl, SellPrice = p.SellPrice, DiscountPercentage = p.DiscountPercentage, Votes = p.Votes, TotalRating = p.TotalRating }).ToList<Product>(); foreach (Product p in products) { temp.Add(p); } IEnumerable temp2 = temp.GroupBy(x => x.Id).Distinct(); IEnumerator e = temp.GetEnumerator(); while (e.MoveNext()) { Product c = e.Current as Product; Products2.Add(c); } } pf.Products = Products2;// return type must be List<Product> }

  • How can I exclude LEFT JOINed tables from TOP in SQL Server?

    - by Kalessin
    Let's say I have two tables of books and two tables of their corresponding editions. I have a query as follows: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM (SELECT hbID, hbTitle, hbPublisherID, hbPublishDate, hbedID, hbedDate FROM hardback LEFT JOIN hardbackEdition on hbID = hbedID UNION SELECT pbID, pbTitle, pbPublisher, pbPublishDate, pbedID, pbedDate FROM paperback Left JOIN paperbackEdition on pbID = pbedID ) books WHERE hbPublisherID = 7 ORDER BY hbPublishDate DESC If there are 5 editions of the first two hardback and/or paperback books, this query only returns two books. However, I want the TOP 10 to apply only to the number of actual book records returned. Is there a way I can select 10 actual books, and still get all of their associated edition records? In case it's relevant, I do not have database permissions to CREATE and DROP temporary tables. Thanks for reading! Update To clarify: The paperback table has an associated table of paperback editions. The hardback table has an associated table of hardback editions. The hardback and paperback tables are not related to each other except to the user who will (hopefully!) see them displayed together.

  • Doctrine YAML not generating correctly? Or is this markup wrong?

    - by ropstah
    I'm trying to get a many-to-many relationship between Users and Settings. The models seem to be generated correctly, however the following query fails: "User_Setting" with an alias of "us" in your query does not reference the parent component it is related to. $q = new Doctrine_RawSql(); $q->select('{s.*}, {us.*}') ->from('User u CROSS JOIN Setting s LEFT JOIN User_Setting us ON us.usr_auto_key = u.usr_auto_key AND us.set_auto_key = s.set_auto_key') ->addComponent('s', 'Setting s INDEXBY s.set_auto_key') ->addComponent('us', 'User_Setting us') ->where(u.usr_auto_key = ?',$this->usr_auto_key); $this->settings = $q->execute(); Does anyone spot a problem? This is my YAML: User: connection: default tableName: User columns: usr_auto_key: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: true notnull: true email: type: string(100) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false default: '' notnull: true autoincrement: false password: type: string(32) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false default: '' notnull: true autoincrement: false relations: Setting: class: Setting foreignAlias: User refClass: User_Setting local: usr_auto_key foreign: set_auto_key Setting: connection: default tableName: Setting columns: set_auto_key: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: true notnull: true name: type: string(50) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false notnull: true autoincrement: false User_Setting: connection: default tableName: User_Setting columns: usr_auto_key: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false notnull: true set_auto_key: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false notnull: true value: type: string(255) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false notnull: true autoincrement: false relations: Setting: foreignAlias: User_Setting local: set_auto_key foreign: set_auto_key User: foreignAlias: User_Setting local: usr_auto_key foreign: usr_auto_key

    - by blgnklc
    Hi All WordPress Lovers, I would like to ask a help about Zensor which is a plugin that you publish a post then a moderator approves the post to be published on the wordpress blog site. When a post is awating for approval, each awaiting post is appearing "waiting moderation". But, I dont want any link appears before moderator approval. Actually I found the joing sentence below; 1- Must be added to the end of JOIN part of any query: LEFT JOIN wp_zensor ON ID = wp_zensor.post_id 2- Must be added to the end of WHERE condition : AND wp_zensor.moderation_status = 'approved' Could you please show me; where should I add these modification on the category link presentation below: <h2>Politics</h2> <?php $recent = new WP_Query("cat=31&showposts=1"); while($recent->have_posts()) : $recent->the_post();?> <b><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></b> <?php the_content_limit(140, "devami &raquo;"); ?> <div class="hppostmeta"> <p><?php the_time('j F Y, H:i'); ?> | <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?></p> </div> <?php endwhile; ?> Or any general solutions will be welcomed.
