• Looking for feedback on a first SAML implementation.

  Hello, I've been tasked with designing a very simple SSO (single sign-on) process. My employer has specified that it should be implimented in SAML. I'd like to create messages that are absolutely as simple as possible while confirming to the SAML spec. I'd be really grateful if some of you would look at my request and response messages and tell me if they make sense for my purpose, if they include anything that doesn't need to be there, and if they are missing anything that does need to be there. Addionally, I'd like to know where in the response I should put additional information about the subject; in particular, the subject's email address. The interaction needs to work as follows: 1) User requests service from service provider at this point, the service provider knows nothing about the user. 2) Service provider requests authentication for user from identity provider 3) User is authenticated/registered by identity provider 4) Identity provider responds to Service provider with authentication success message, PLUS user's email address. • ASP.NET MVC 2 with NServiceBus unable to load requested types

  I am trying to use NServiceBus with an ASP.NET MVC 2 website (using VS 2010 and the .NET 4.0 framework). However, when I run the site on my local machine, I get the following error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. Here are the relevant steps I have taken: Downloaded the NServiceBus.2.0.0.1145 binaries In my asp.net mvc app, I've added references to NServiceBus.dll and NServiceBus.Core.dll In Global.asax.cs I've added: public static IBus Bus { get; private set; } protected void Application_Start() { AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); Bus = NServiceBus.Configure .WithWeb() .Log4Net() .DefaultBuilder() .XmlSerializer() .MsmqTransport() .IsTransactional(false) .PurgeOnStartup(false) .UnicastBus() .ImpersonateSender(false) .CreateBus() .Start(); } In web.config, I've added: <MsmqTransportConfig InputQueue="MyWebClient" ErrorQueue="error" NumberOfWorkerThreads="1" MaxRetries="5"/> <UnicastBusConfig> <MessageEndpointMappings> <add Messages="Messages" Endpoint="MyServerInputQueue"/> </MessageEndpointMappings> </UnicastBusConfig> The error indicates that the problem is with the first line in the Global.asax.cs file. Is it possible that there is a problem with NServiceBus running under .NET 4.0?

• How to Access a descendant object's internal method in C#

  I'm trying to access a method that is marked as internal in the parent class (in its own assembly) in an object that inherits from the same parent. Let me explain what I'm trying to do... I want to create Service classes that return IEnumberable with an underlying List to non-Service classes (e.g. the UI) and optionally return an IEnumerable with an underlying IQueryable to other services. I wrote some sample code to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish, shown below. The example is not real life, so please remember that when commenting. All services would inherit from something like this (only relevant code shown): public class ServiceBase<T> { protected readonly ObjectContext _context; protected string _setName = String.Empty; public ServiceBase(ObjectContext context) { _context = context; } public IEnumerable<T> GetAll() { return GetAll(false); } //These are not the correct access modifiers.. I want something //that is accessible to children classes AND between descendant classes internal protected IEnumerable<T> GetAll(bool returnQueryable) { var query = _context.CreateQuery<T>(GetSetName()); if(returnQueryable) { return query; } else { return query.ToList(); } } private string GetSetName() { //Some code... return _setName; } } Inherited services would look like this: public class EmployeeService : ServiceBase<Employees> { public EmployeeService(ObjectContext context) : base(context) { } } public class DepartmentService : ServiceBase<Departments> { private readonly EmployeeService _employeeService; public DepartmentService(ObjectContext context, EmployeeService employeeService) : base(context) { _employeeService = employeeService; } public IList<Departments> DoSomethingWithEmployees(string lastName) { //won't work because method with this signature is not visible to this class var emps = _employeeService.GetAll(true); //more code... } } Because the parent class lives is reusable, it would live in a different assembly than the child services. With GetAll(bool returnQueryable) being marked internal, the children would not be able to see each other's GetAll(bool) method, just the public GetAll() method. I know that I can add a new internal GetAll method to each service (or perhaps an intermediary parent class within the same assembly) so that each child service within the assembly can see each other's method; but it seems unnecessary since the functionality is already available in the parent class. For example: internal IEnumerable<Employees> GetAll(bool returnIQueryable) { return base.GetAll(returnIQueryable); } Essentially what I want is for services to be able to access other service methods as IQueryable so that they can further refine the uncommitted results, while everyone else gets plain old lists. Any ideas? EDIT You know what, I had some fun playing a little code golf with this... but ultimately I wouldn't be able to use this scheme anyway because I pass interfaces around, not classes. So in my example GetAll(bool returnIQueryable) would not be in the interface, meaning I'd have to do casting, which goes against what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm not sure if I had a brain fart or if I was just too excited trying to get something that I thought was neat to work. Either way, thanks for the responses.

• Enteprise Library Exception Handling for WCF Fault Contracts - CLIENT SIDE

  I have a Windows Service which communicates with WCF services. The WCF services are all fault shielded and generate custom UserFaultContracts and ServiceFaultContracts. No problems there. In the Windows Service I am using EntLib for exception handling and logging. This is where I am unglued. And I hate becoming unglued. The fault is captured and logged...but I can't get the details of the fault. • Get coordinates of google maps markers

  I am creating a databse containing the names and coordinates of all bus stops in my local area. I have all the names stored in my database, and now I need to add the coordinates. I am trying to get these of a website that contains them all as placemarks on a google map. It seems to me like they are being generated from a local server, and then added to the map. However I am unable to find exactly where the server is queried for the coordinates. I am hoping to collect these coordinates through the use of a screen scraper. However unless I am able to find where in the source code the coordinates are created this seems to be impossible. I can of course search and collect all these placemarks manually, but that will be very time consuming. So I am hoping that someone in here can help me. This is the website I am trying to scrape. • Provider<HttpSession> not getting injected

  I am using gwt dispatch to communicate and get data from server to client.   So i'm building a small application, it uses core data database of ~25mb size with 4 entities. It's for bus timetables. In one table named "Stop" there are have ~1300 entries of bus stops with atributes "name", "id", "longitude", "latitude" and couple relationships. Now there are many stops with same name but different coordinates and id. Search is implemented using NSPredicate. So I want to show all distinct stop names in table view, i'm using setReturnsDistinctResults with NSDictionaryResultType and setPropertiesToFetch. But setReturnsDistinctResult is not working and I'm still getting all entries.   I want to set up an app which can get the information from a particular web page. Then i display the value which got from that page to the iPhone user. Detail:In the webpage on server ,there is the schedule for bus time. If the user input origin and terminus then show the user the time information(list on webpage) in a label. That's all. What i have finished is : Open the iphone app, input two value(origin and terminus) to UITextField. Send the URL to server. Get the page, and show in UIWebView. What my problem next is how should i get the information form that page into another two labels to give the user about the bus time. I have store data in my Array receiveData: self.receivedData = data; I am not clear the data i received is XML or what? And how should i pick-up the value i want. (should i save the value to property list and the read the value?) Thank you so much!

• .net real time stream processing - needed huge and fast RAM buffer

  The application I'm developing communicates with an digital audio device, which is capable of sending 24 different voice streams at the same time. The device is connected via USB, using FTDI device (serial port emulator) and D2XX Drivers (basic COM driver is to slow to handle transfer of 4.5Mbit). Basically the application consist of 3 threads: Main thread - GUI, control, ect. Bus reader - in this thread data is continuously read from the device and saved to a file buffer (there is no logic in this thread) Data interpreter - this thread reads the data from file buffer, converts to samples, does simple sample processing and saves the samples to separate wav files. The reason why I used file buffer is that I wanted to be sure that I won't loose any samples. The application doesn't use recording all the time, so I've chosen this solution because it was safe. The application works fine, except that buffered wave file generator is pretty slow. For 24 parallel records of 1 minute, it takes about 4 minutes to complete the recording. I'm pretty sure that eliminating the use of hard drive in this process will increase the speed much. The second problem is that the file buffer is really heavy for long records and I can't clean this up until the end of data processing (it would slow down the process even more). For RAM buffer I need at lest 1GB to make it work properly. What is the best way to allocate such a big amount of memory in .NET? I'm going to use this memory in 2 threads so a fast synchronization mechanism needed. I'm thinking about a cycle buffer: one big array, the Bus Reader saves the data, the Data Interpreter reads it.   I have to implement a way so our customers can backup their SQL 2000/5/8 databasase online. The application they use is a C#/.NET35 Winforms application that connects to a SQL Server (can be 2000/2005/2008, sometimes express editions). The SQL Server is on the same LAN. Our application has a very specific UI and we must code each form following those guidelines. There’s lots of GDI+ to give it the look and feel we want. For that reason, using a 3rd party application is not a very good idea. We need to charge the customer on a monthly/annual basis for the service. Preferably, the customer doesn’t need to care about bandwidth and storage space. It must be transparent. Given the above reqs., my first thoughts are: Solution 1: Code some sort of FTP basic functionality with behind the scenes SQL Backup mechanism, then hire a Hosting service and compress-transfer the .BAK to the Hosting. Maintain a series of Folders (for each customer). They won’t see what’s happening. They will just see a list of their files and a big “Backup now” button that will perform the SQL backup, compress it and upload it (and update the file list) ;) Pros: Not very complicated to implement, simple to use, fairly simple to configure (could have a dedicated ftp user/pass) Cons: Finding a “ftp” only hosting plan is not probably going to be easy, they usually come with a bunch of stuff. FTP is not always the best protocol. more? Solution 2: Similar to 1, but instead of FTP, find a cloud computing service like Amazon S3, Mosso or similar. Pros: Cloud Storage is fast, reliable, etc. It’s kind of easy to implement (specially if there are APIs like AWS or Mosso). Cons: I have been unable to come up with a service optimized for resellers where I can give multiple sub-accounts (one for each customer). Billing is going to be a nightmare cuz these services bill per/GB and with One account it’s impossible to differentiate each customer. Solution 3: Similar to 2, but letting the user create their own account on Amazon S3 (for example). Pros: You forget about billing and such. Cons: A mess for the customer who has to open the Amazon (or whatever) account, will be charged for that and not from you. You can’t really charge the customer (since you’re just not doing anything). Solution 4: Use one of the many backup online solutions that use the tech in cloud storage. Pros: many of these include SQL Server backup, and a lot of features that we’d have to implement. Plus web access and stuff like that will come included. Cons: Still have the billing problem described in number 2. Little of these companies (if any) offers “reseller” accounts. You have to eventually use their software (some offer certain branding). Any better approach? Summary: You have a software (.NET Winapp). You want your users to be able to backup their SQL Server databases online (and be able to retrieve the backups if needed). You ideally would like to charge the customer for this service (i.e. XX € a year).
