  • Cant route VLAN over VPN between Cisco ASA 5505 and Cisco 870

    We've had an existing VPN between a 5505 and 870 for some time. We've just added VLANs to the network on the 5505 side. We can't seem to figure out how to get devices on the VLANs to communicate with devices on the 870 network which have no VLANs. We're thinking we might have to use a router of sorts to handle the routing before hitting the ASA. We thought PFsense might work well. We've been banging our heads against this thing for 2 days so any immediate help would be great. We're up against a deadline. Thanks!!!

  • Ethernet interface number changed, and old one does not exist, but does not leave IP address

    I have a virtual machine with Mandriva 2007.0 (yes, old - unfortunately we do not have a choice here). Anyway, the problem: Before reboot: active network interface = eth0. No other interfaces present, and network manager confirms this. Static IP address set to 172.31.2.22. No issues, everything working properly, routing et al. -------Reboot--------- After reboot: active network interface = eth1, with a DHCP address. Network manager shows eth0 as disconnected, and not connectable. When I try to set eth1 up with the static IP address (same one), it says "In Use". I then tried ifconfig eth0 172.31.2.29 just to free it up from the eth0 interface so I could use it with eth1 (since this is connected). Result: ifconfig eth0 172.31.2.29 SIOCSIFADDR: No such device eth0: unknown interface: No such device Nothing else changed. Any ideas what could be happening, or at least how I can get my IP address back?

  • Can thunderbird with -no-remote launch firefox without it?

    We have two thunderbird profiles, and we launch thunderbird using -no-remote as follows: thunderbird -no-remote -P Profile1 and thunderbird -no-remote -P Profile2 unfortunately, this means that if either of us click on a link in an email, and firefox is already running, we get a warning message telling us that firefox is already running, rather than having it open the link. Is it possible for thunderbird to use firefox's remote, even though it has been launched with -no-remote? (if it makes a difference, this is on Xubuntu Karmic)

I am concerned about people who doesnt want my email clicking "report as junk"-button in hotmail, and understand that JMRP send me a message each times somebody clicks the button on one of my emails.   • Bonjour/mDNS Broadcast across subnets

    I have just setup a new OSX Server in our office and verified that everything is working fine over our wired network (192.168.126.0/24). The problem that I am having is that our clients (Mac Laptops) are mainly connected via Wireless, which are running on a different subnet (192.168.1.0/24), and the mDNS Broadcast isn't reaching this subnet. The network configuration is somewhat foreign to myself (I don't manage the network in this location, but as of just recently the servers), however I don't believe there is any firewalls or routing rules between the two subnets which might cause the traffic to be rejected. I'm wondering if this is simply the mDNS broadcast not able to broadcast over the two different subnets (I'm still reading up on broadcast to understand it more) or there is something else which I might be able to try.

    Is there a web app that is: Free Behaves like Mint But allows me to keep track of money I loan or owe other people? I should be able to setup an "account" for each person that I loan out to, and be able to "check off" when the person returns me the money, etc. I should also be able to add notes to each transaction to help me remember what it was for. Would be even nicer if I can add transactions via text messaging, email, etc.

    As question, I have found online that backupify offer shifting from their S3 to user's personal S3, I have a backupify account but I can't find this options, besides, I don't prefer having my email being processed by somebody else. Is it possible to use my own personal amazon s3 account to backup gmail? Preferably as incremental backup, as I don't have to use too much of bandwidth to load redundant data back to S3.     MONROE - Craigslist is a popular site when trying to find that perfect deal on a rental home or apartment. Experts warn some of these rental ads aren't what they seem. We decided to take a look. On our Craigslist search we found this house for rent. The problem is this home’s not for rent - it's for sale. “I think it’s a huge deal,” said Shane Wooten, the realtor for this home in Monroe. His properties have become the target of a common scam, aimed at taking your money. "It looks like they're trying to scam them out of their deposit and first months rent," adds Wooten. He says scammers copy and paste the sale ad's from legitimate realtor sites to Craigslist as rental ads. "I can usually tell when one hits craigslist because I’ll usually get 20 to 30 phone calls that day." They then pretend to be out of town on business or personal matters, and give only an email address as a point of contact. Usually they'll ask for money up front on a deal too good to miss. "You'll have a house that's supposed to rent for $950-1000 a month, and they'll have it renting for $600 a month,” says Wooten During our conversation, he shows us text messages from one scammer who says he'll mail the keys to this house if Wooten wires money for a deposit and first months rent. Jo Ann Deal of the Better Business Bureau says scammers are getting better at making themselves out to be realtors. "We’re really concerned for our real estate agents with this scam," says Deal. She says that realtors have to be more on top of their vacant homes in order to protect their businesses. So how can you tell if the house you want is really for rent? She says if the home owner lives out of the country, can't meet face to face or asks for a payment through a money wire it's probably a scam. “There are some catch-lines you watch for,” says Deal. “If the marketing is really good but there's no phone number, no physical address and they will communicate with you only by email and you can do it today, then it's probably a scam." You should always report fishy ad's to Craigslist or the BBB and never send money through a wire transfer.

  • Wireless Access Point - Can't ping other machines on the wireless network

    I have a wireless access point (Netgear), and I have it setup so that it has an IP address in the current subnet (let's say 192.168.2.0, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0). The machine that it is connected to via ethernet cable has an IP in the same subnet as the AP. The machines that are connected to the AP via the wireless connection also have an IP address in the same subnet as the rest of the network (192.168.2.0). All machines can ping the access point, but they cannot ping each other. I don't totally understand why, because there is connection and all of the machines are in the same subnet. I realize this is a layer 3 device, but is there an issue because of this AP's lack of gateway capabilities? (i.e. no routing table, etc.)

May i miss something like a routing rule.

  • Will being a VPN Client interrupt web pages hosted by IIS?

    We have a dedicated server that is primarily used to host our website. I've been tasked with determining the feasibility of setting up a VPN connection from it to our Internal Network at our offices for a few ease of use purposes. My concern is that if I establish this VPN connection our Website will only be available internally and not to the internet in general. I'm concerned about this because in everything I read the fact is stated that by default all network traffic is routed over the VPN connection when it's established, is this also true for applications such as IIS that are listening for incoming connections? TL;DR Will having a VPN Client up and running cause a problem with server applications that may be listening on the NIC connected to the Internet due to changes that VPN makes in the routing tables?

    When I try to connect to my Tomcat server on http://<servername>:8080 it works fine, but from another ISP provided it gives the following error: HTTP through a proxy server is not allowed. Some ISP apparently don't allow http over the port 8080, as they think the client uses a proxy. I also have a httpd running on port 80 for my website. So in order to avoid the proxy error, I would like to make to following routing: If the user connects to http://<servername>, then the website is served via apache. If the user connects to http://<servername>/AppName, then the port is rerouted to 8080, without the client (or his ISP) knowing. Is that possible (using iptables or something else) ? Thank you

    Hi there, I am trying to configure the LAN settings of a Windows 2008 server remotely via netsh. I've been trying this command (issued at the client) assuming the IP address of the server is 192.168.0.1: netsh -r 192.168.0.1 -u 192.168.0.1\Administrator -p password lan show config but I keep getting the following message: WARNING: Could not obtain host information from machine [192.168.0.1]. Some commands may not be available. The RPC server is unavailable. Am I understanding the command above properly? Is there a step or two that I missed in setting this up? Thanks in advance. P.S. The Routing and Remove Access service on the server is enabled.
