  • Running Python code from Java program, shoudl i be doing this?

    i have a scenario where i draw a network and set all it's paraments on swing based gui, after that i have to translate this network into a python based script which another framework reads and realize this network in the form of virtual machines. As an example have look here: from mininet.topo import Topo, Node class MyTopo( Topo ): def *__init__*( self, enable_all = True ): super( MyTopo, self ).__init__() Host = 1 Switch = 2 self.add_node( Switch, Node( is_switch=True ) ) self.add_node( Host, Node( is_switch=False ) ) self.add_edge( Host, Switch ) self.enable_all() topos = { 'mytopo': ( lambda: MyTopo() ) } It simply connects a host to a switch and realize this topology on mininet framework. Now for now in order to realize the drawn network on java GUI here is what i am doing: I simply take the information from GUI and creates a new python file like the one above using java code and then run this file in mininet, which works fine somehow. I want to know, is this the correct and robust way how i am doing this or should i be looking further into java-python bridge like scenarios to be more effective or so as to say more professional.

    I am trying to call an asmx web service from an Android app. Just literally started some Android development today. I've been following various solutions I have found on the net and on here and it seems it is more difficult than anticipated. I have tried various solutions and using KSoap2 seems to be the easiest way to implement this, well it would be if I could get it working.   • Summary count for Python logging

    At the end of my Python program, I'd like to be able to get a summary of the number of items logged through the standard logging module. I'd specifically like to be able to get a count for each specified name (and possibly its children). E.g. if I have: input_logger = getLogger('input') input_logger.debug("got input1") input_logger.debug("got input2") input_logger.debug("got input3") network_input_logger = getLogger('input.network') network_input_logger.debug("got network input1") network_input_logger.debug("got network input2") getLogger('output') output_logger.debug("sent output1") Then at the end I'd like to get a summary such as: input: 5 input.network: 2 output: 1 Perhaps by calling a getcount() method for a logger or a handler. What would be a good way to achieve this? I imagine it would involve a sub-class of one of the logging classes, but I'm not sure which one would be best.

  • AJAX or a server side framework?

    I am working with a friend on building a web site, in general this web site will be a custom web app along with a very custom social network type of thing.. Currently I have a mock-up site that uses simple PHP with AJAX and JSON and JQUERY and I love how it works, I love the way it all fits together. But for a mock-up I did not implement any of the Social Network design patterns such as a login, rating, groups etc.. This brought me to a higher level of decision making requirement, I need to decide if I want to develop all this functionality by hand or use some kind of a framework. I spent this entire day researching, and it would seem that using Drupal and such frameworks will make the Social Network part easy (overlooking the customization requirement for now..) but will make client side Web App development less so. I found some other frameworks that are more developer friendly (customizable) such as Zend and Symfony etc.. but these seem to take allot of the power from the client and implement it in the server side, to me this seems a waste (and an unjustified performance bottleneck) .. Finally I found Aptana Jaxer framework that seems to think the same way I feel. That said it seems a bit under-developed, I didn't find modules for a social network and the community around it seems thin.. (searching Jaxer in StackOverflow returns few results) So other then making server side DB comm a bit simpler it does not help me greatly.. My requirements are a good facility to develop web apps on while containing all the user centric logic usually used for social networks in advance. What would you recommend? EDIT: OK, lats fine tune this question, after considering this abit further, is there a good down loadable source of a social network site in PHP that I can work around in building my web app? (I really like using JQUERY AJAX JSON etc..)

    I've been able to get my Twitter web app working just fine, but I've recently decided to add Tweeting functionality from a Windows Form, but I'm having no luck sending tweets. No errors are thrown or anything.   • What is the simplest way to implement multithreading in c# to existing code

    I have already implemented a functionnal application that parses 26 pages of html all at once to produce an xml file with data contained on the web pages. I would need to implement a thread so that this method can work in the background without causing my app to seems unresponsive. Secondly, I have another function that is decoupled from the first one which compares two xml files to produce a third one and then transform this third xml file to produce an html page using XSLT. This would have to be on a thread, where I can click Cancel to stop the thread whithout crashing the app. What is the easiest best way to do this using WPF forms in VS 2010 ? I have chosen to use the BackgroundWorker.     Hi All, I guess this question is bordering to a Server Fault question. I'd like to know the best configuration for exposing an internal application (in this case a load balanced Asp.Net MVC application) for external access. More details about the situation: The Asp.Net MVC Application is currently running on 2 servers The 2 servers are behind a Windows Network Load Balancer All the servers are on premise/internal network I'm thinking of introducing an F5 Load balancer on off premise DMZ to replace the Windows Network Load Balancer. F5 will act as the public traffic gateway and load balancers to the 2 servers. However, I'd like the internal users to not have go through the Internet to access the app. The idea that I have so far is to keep both Windows Network Load Balancer and the F5. Each appliance will have its own IP and will have its own domain name. External users can use the public domain name which will hit F5, whereas internal users can use the internal domain name which will hit the Windows Network Load Balancer. Is this a good idea? Or is there a better way of doing this?

  • When to use @Singleton in a Jersey resource

    I have a Jersey resource that access the database. Basically it opens a database connection in the initialization of the resource. Performs queries on the resource's methods. I have observed that when I do not use @Singleton, the database is being open at each request. And we know opening a connection is really expensive right? So my question is, should I specify that the resource be singleton or is it really better to keep it at per request especially when the resource is connecting to the database?     I have made a scorecard with 5 holes, for each a input field (shots), and a image is shown. The input should be saved into a vector and shown on each hole, eg. hole 2: enter shots, underneath it "total shots: 4" (if you have made 4 shots on hole 1).
