  • Javascript sleep

    - by fmsf
    Is any better way than this function to make a sleep in javascript, or should I just use that function? (taken from here) function pausecomp(millis) { var date = new Date(); var curDate = null; do { curDate = new Date(); } while(curDate-date < millis); } This is not a dupe of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/758688/sleep-in-javascript I want a real sleep in a middle of a function, not a delay for a piece of code;

  • How do I DRY up my CouchDB views?

    - by James A. Rosen
    What can I do to share code among views in CouchDB? Example 1 -- utility methods Jesse Hallett has some good utility methods, including function dot(attr) { return function(obj) { return obj[attr]; } } Array.prototype.map = function(func) { var i, r = [], for (i = 0; i < this.length; i += 1) { r[i] = func(this[i]); } return r; }; ... Where can I put this code so every view can access it? Example 2 -- constants Similarly for constants I use in my application. Where do I put MyApp = { A_CONSTANT = "..."; ANOTHER_CONSTANT = "..."; }; Example 3 -- filter of a filter: What if I want a one view that filters by "is this a rich person?": function(doc) { if (doc.type == 'person' && doc.net_worth > 1000000) { emit(doc.id, doc); } } and another that indexes by last name: function(doc) { if (doc.last_name) { emit(doc.last_name, doc); } } How can I combine them into a "rich people by last name" view? I sort of want the equivalent of the Ruby my_array.select { |x| x.person? }.select { |x| x.net_worth > 1,000,000 }.map { |x| [x.last_name, x] } How can I be DRYer?

  • OnmouseMove not work with SetTimeOut and Alerts in Chome

    - by Diogo Fernandes
    What's wrong with this code? It works in IE and FireFox, but Chrome does not work. The idea is that the function fnTimeOut will be triggered in 5 seconds after onmousemove. It´s ok. But when, in Chrome, I click on the button "ok" to function fnAlert is triggered instantly. It should be shot just 5 seconds after I move the mouse ... help me please. <input type="button" onclick="alert(1);" value="ok"> <script> document.onmousemove = fnTimeOut; var t = null; function fnAlert() { alert(2); } function fnTimeOut() { clearTimeout( t ); t = setTimeout( fnAlert, 5000 ); } </script>

  • Problems with jQuery load and getJSON only when using Chrome

    - by leftend
    I'm having an issue with two jQuery calls. The first is a "load" that retrieves HTML and displays it on the page (it does include some Javascript and CSS in the code that is returned). The second is a "getJSON" that returns JSON - the JSON returned is valid. Everything works fine in every other browser I've tried - except Chrome for either Windows or Mac. The page in question is here: http://urbanistguide.com/category/Contemporary.aspx When you click on a Restaurant name in IE/FF, you should see that item expand with more info - and a map displayed to the right. However, if you do this in Chrome all you get is the JSON data printed to the screen. The first problem spot is when the "load" function is called here: var fulllisting = top.find(".listingfull"); fulllisting.load(href2, function() { fulllisting.append("<div style=\"width:99%;margin-top:10px;text-align:right;\"><a href=\"#\" class=\"" + obj.attr("id") + "\">X</a>"); itemId = fulllisting.find("a.listinglink").attr("id"); ... In the above code, the callback function doesn't seem to get invoked. The second problem spot is when the "getJSON" function is called: $.getJSON(href, function(data) { if (data.error.length > 0) { //display error message } else { ... } In this case - it just seems to follow the link instead of performing the callback... and yes, I am doing a "return false;" at the end of all of this to prevent the link from executing. All of the rest of the code is inline on that page if you want to view the source code. Any ideas?? Thanks

  • Calling Model Functions from a Library

    - by Abs
    Hello all, I have turned a normal PHP class into a library so I can use it in Codeigniter as a library. I can load it and call the functions I need in that class. Here is that class to help with the question. However, there are quite a few points where I have to call functions in my class. These functions reside in the model that instantiated my class. How can I do this as currently normal calls don't work. Here is my code: class Controlpanel_model extends Model { var $category = ''; var $dataa = 'a'; function Controlpanel_model(){ parent::Model(); } function import_browser_bookmarks(){ $this->load->library('BookmarkParser'); /* *In this function call to the class I pass * what model functions exist that it should call * You can view how this done by clicking the link above and looking at line 383 */ $this->bookmarkparser->parseNetscape("./bookmarks.html", 0, 'myURL', 'myFolder'); return $this->dataa; } function myURL($data, $depth, $no) { $category = $this->category; $this->dataa .= 'Tag = '.$category.'<br />'.'URL = '.$data["url"].'<br />'.'Title = '.$data["descr"].'<br />'.'<br /><br />'; } function myFolder($data, $depth, $no) { $this->category = $data["name"]; } } Thanks all for any help.

  • Proper way to use a config file?

    - by user156814
    I just started using a PHP framework, Kohana (V2.3.4) and I am trying to set up a config file for each of my controllers. I never used a framework before, so obviously Kohana is new to me. I was wondering how I should set up my controllers to read my config file. For example, I have an article controller and a config file for that controller. I have 3 ways of loading config settings // config/article.php $config = array( 'display_limit' => 25, // limit of articles to list 'comment_display_limit' => 20, // limit of comments to list for each article // other things ); Should I A) Load everything into an array of settings // set a config array class article_controller extends controller{ public $config = array(); function __construct(){ $this->config = Kohana::config('article'); } } B) Load and set each setting as its own property // set each config as a property class article_controller extends controller{ public $display_limit; public $comment_display_limit; function __construct(){ $config = Kohana::config('article'); foreach ($config as $key => $value){ $this->$key = $value; } } } C) Load each setting only when needed // load config settings only when needed class article_controller extends controller{ function __construct(){} // list all articles function show_all(){ $display_limit = Kohana:;config('article.display_limit'); } // list article, with all comments function show($id = 0){ $comment_display)limit = Kohana:;config('article.comment_display_limit'); } } Note: Kohana::config() returns an array of items. Thanks

  • Javascript parse/evaluation order?

    - by Breck Fresen
    This is probably a nub question, but I don't understand why this works: <script type="text/javascript"> alert(foo); function foo() { } </script> This alerts "function foo() { }", but I expected the alert to be evaluated before the function foo was defined. Can someone explain what I don't understand about parse/evaluation order or point me to a resource that does? Thanks in advance, -- Breck

Is it possible to echo javascript via ajax

  • jQuery Toggle with Cookie

    - by Cameron
    I have the following toggle system, but I want it to remember what was open/closed using the jQuery cookie plugin. So for example if I open a toggle and then navigate away from the page, when I come back it should be still open. This is code I have so far, but it's becoming rather confusing, some help would be much appreciated thanks. jQuery.cookie = function (name, value, options) { if (typeof value != 'undefined') { options = options || {}; if (value === null) { value = ''; options = $.extend({}, options); options.expires = -1; } var expires = ''; if (options.expires && (typeof options.expires == 'number' || options.expires.toUTCString)) { var date; if (typeof options.expires == 'number') { date = new Date(); date.setTime(date.getTime() + (options.expires * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000)); } else { date = options.expires; } expires = '; expires=' + date.toUTCString(); } var path = options.path ? '; path=' + (options.path) : ''; var domain = options.domain ? '; domain=' + (options.domain) : ''; var secure = options.secure ? '; secure' : ''; document.cookie = [name, '=', encodeURIComponent(value), expires, path, domain, secure].join(''); } else { var cookieValue = null; if (document.cookie && document.cookie != '') { var cookies = document.cookie.split(';'); for (var i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) { var cookie = jQuery.trim(cookies[i]); if (cookie.substring(0, name.length + 1) == (name + '=')) { cookieValue = decodeURIComponent(cookie.substring(name.length + 1)); break; } } } return cookieValue; } }; // var showTop = $.cookie('showTop'); if ($.cookie('showTop') == 'collapsed') { $(".toggle_container").hide(); $(".trigger").toggle(function () { $(this).addClass("active"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("active"); }); $(".trigger").click(function () { $(this).next(".toggle_container").slideToggle("slow,"); }); } else { $(".toggle_container").show(); $(".trigger").toggle(function () { $(this).addClass("active"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("active"); }); $(".trigger").click(function () { $(this).next(".toggle_container").slideToggle("slow,"); }); }; $(".trigger").click(function () { if ($(".toggle_container").is(":hidden")) { $(this).next(".toggle_container").slideToggle("slow,"); $.cookie('showTop', 'expanded'); } else { $(this).next(".toggle_container").slideToggle("slow,"); $.cookie('showTop', 'collapsed'); } return false; }); and this is a snippet of the HTML it works with: <li> <label for="small"><input type="checkbox" id="small" /> Small</label> <a class="trigger" href="#">Toggle</a> <div class="toggle_container"> <p class="funding"><strong>Funding</strong></p> <ul class="childs"> <li class="child"> <label for="fully-funded1"><input type="checkbox" id="fully-funded1" /> Fully Funded</label> <a class="trigger" href="#">Toggle</a> <div class="toggle_container"> <p class="days"><strong>Days</strong></p> <ul class="days clearfix"> <li><label for="1pre16">Pre 16</label> <input type="text" id="1pre16" /></li> <li><label for="2post16">Post 16</label> <input type="text" id="2post16" /></li> <li><label for="3teacher">Teacher</label> <input type="text" id="3teacher" /></li> </ul> </div> </li>

  • Flex / Flash builder : no returning data using database

    - by Tristan
    Hello, i'm following some flex tutorials everything's working as wanted expected for one thing : When i use my function getServerByBrand($brand) there is no returned data into my datagrid and i don't know why because it uses the same schema as getAllserver() which is working . I don't know whether it's cause by the function itselft or the configuration in flash builder : protected function RechercheGSP_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { getServerByBrandResult.token = dbClass.getServerByBrand(SearchInput.text); } Here's what i've got in Data/Services : getServerByBrand(brand : string) : Object And finally the function : public function getServerByBrand($brand) { $stmt = mysqli_prepare($this->connection, "SELECT DISTINCT * FROM $this->tablename where GSP_nom=? "); $this->throwExceptionOnError(); mysqli_stmt_execute($stmt); $this->throwExceptionOnError(); $rows = array(); mysqli_stmt_bind_result($stmt, $row->idServ, $row->GSP_nom, $row->IPserv, $row->port, $row->tickrate, $row->membre, $row->nomPays, $row->finContrat, $row->actif, $row->timestamp, $row->type, $row->jeux, $row->slot, $row->ipClient, $row->essai, $row->reussite, $row->echec, $row->valide, $row->email); while (mysqli_stmt_fetch($stmt)) { $row->timestamp = new DateTime($row->timestamp); $rows[] = $row; $row = new stdClass(); mysqli_stmt_bind_result($stmt, $row->idServ, $row->GSP_nom, $row->IPserv, $row->port, $row->tickrate, $row->membre, $row->nomPays, $row->finContrat, $row->actif, $row->timestamp, $row->type, $row->jeux, $row->slot, $row->ipClient, $row->essai, $row->reussite, $row->echec, $row->valide, $row->email); } mysqli_stmt_free_result($stmt); mysqli_close($this->connection); return $rows; } I tested the settings with configure return type and it tells me : "the operation returned a primitive "object". test settings : Parameters (brand) / Input type (String) / Value (woop) To conclude, there is no returned object at all. Do you see the problem ? Thanks

  • define javascript functions on iframe facebook app inside <fb:serverfbml> tag

  • Question about functional OOP style in JavaScript

    - by valums
    I prefer to use functional OOP style for my code (similar to the module pattern) because it helps me to avoid the "new" keyword and all problems with the scope of "this" keyword in callbacks. But I've run into a few minor issues with it. I would like to use the following code to create a class. namespace.myClass = function(){ var self = {}, somePrivateVar1; // initialization code that would call // private or public methods privateMethod(); self.publicMethod(); // sorry, error here function privateMethod(){} self.publicMethod = function(){}; return self; } The problem is that I can't call public methods from my initialization code, as these functions are not defined yet. The obvious solution would be to create an init method, and call it before "return self" line. But maybe you know a more elegant solution? Also, how do you usually handle inheritance with this pattern? I use the following code, butI would like to hear your ideas and suggestions. namespace.myClass2 = function(){ var self = namespace.parentClass(), somePrivateVar1; var superMethod = self.someMethod; self.someMethod = function(){ // example shows how to overwrite parent methods superMethod(); }; return self; } Edit. For those who asked what are the reasons for choosing this style of OOP, you can look into following questions: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1557386/prototypal-vs-functional-oop-in-javascript http://stackoverflow.com/questions/383402/is-javascript-s-new-keyword-considered-harmful

  • [jQuery] JSON response is null, but the URL is echoing correctly.

    - by b. e. hollenbeck
    I have a form being AJAX'd in by jQuery on a page with multiple forms. I'm performing the following function, which is a wrapper for the $.ajax function: function do_json_get(uri){ var ret = ''; var url = AJAX_URL + uri; $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: url, async: false, success: function(data) { ret = data.html; }, dataType: 'json' }); return ret; } When I go to the AJAX server directly (which is rendering the form in PHP), I get the raw JSON response - so I know the server is outputting to the browser, and the AJAX server is doing other things like setting the proper cookies, so I know that the connection is good (I get a 200 response code). Yet the data object is coming back null. What else could I be missing?

  • Pagination links broken - php/jquery

    - by ClarkSKent
    Hey, I'm still trying to get my pagination links to load properly dynamically. But I can't seem to find a solution to this one problem. vote down star Hi everyone, I am still trying to figure out how to fix my pagination script to work properly. the problem I am having is when I click any of the pagination number links to go the next page, the new content does not load. literally nothing happens and when looking at the console in Firebug, nothing is sent or loaded. I have on the main page 3 links to filter the content and display it. When any of these links are clicked the results are loaded and displayed along with the associated pagination numbers for that specific content. I believe the problem is coming from the sql query in generate_pagination.php (seen below). When I hard code the sql category part it works, but is not dynamic at all. This is why I'm calling $ids=$_GET['ids']; and trying to put that into the category section but then the numbers don't display at all. If I echo out the $ids variable and click on a filter it does display the correct name/id, so I don't know why this doesn't work Here is the main page so you can see how I am including and starting the function(I'm new to php): <?php include_once('generate_pagination.php'); ?> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery_pagination.js"></script> <div id="loading" ></div> <div id="content" data-page="1"></div> <ul id="pagination"> <?php //Pagination Numbers for($i=1; $i<=$pages; $i++) { echo '<li class="page_numbers" id="page'.$i.'">'.$i.'</li>'; } ?> </ul> <br /> <br /> <a href="#" class="category" id="marketing">Marketing</a> <a href="#" class="category" id="automotive">Automotive</a> <a href="#" class="category" id="sports">Sports</a> Here is the generate pagination where the problem seems to occur: <?php $ids=$_GET['ids']; include_once('config.php'); $per_page = 3; //Calculating no of pages $sql = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM explore WHERE category='$ids'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $count = mysql_fetch_row($result); $pages = ceil($count[0]/$per_page); ?> I thought I might as well post the jquery script if someone wants to see: $(document).ready(function(){ //Display Loading Image function Display_Load() { $("#loading").fadeIn(900,0); $("#loading").html("<img src='bigLoader.gif' />"); } //Hide Loading Image function Hide_Load() { $("#loading").fadeOut('slow'); }; //Default Starting Page Results $("#pagination li:first").css({'color' : '#FF0084'}).css({'border' : 'none'}); Display_Load(); $("#content").load("pagination_data.php?page=1", Hide_Load()); // Editing below. // Sort content Marketing $("a.category").click(function() { Display_Load(); var this_id = $(this).attr('id'); $.get("pagination.php", { category: this.id }, function(data){ //Load your results into the page var pageNum = $('#content').attr('data-page'); $("#pagination").load('generate_pagination.php?category=' + pageNum +'&ids='+ this_id ); $("#content").load("filter_marketing.php?page=" + pageNum +'&id='+ this_id, Hide_Load()); }); }); //Pagination Click $("#pagination li").click(function(){ Display_Load(); //CSS Styles $("#pagination li") .css({'border' : 'solid #dddddd 1px'}) .css({'color' : '#0063DC'}); $(this) .css({'color' : '#FF0084'}) .css({'border' : 'none'}); //Loading Data var pageNum = $(this).attr("id").replace("page",""); $("#content").load("pagination_data.php?page=" + pageNum, function(){ $(this).attr('data-page', pageNum); Hide_Load(); }); }); }); If any could assist me on solving this problem that would be great, thanks.

  • Jquery Flexigrid reload only if flexigrid initially ran

    - by John
    Im trying to use flexigrid to show results using the values from a form. So when a person clicks a form I want it to load the flexigrid function if its the first time the person clicked the button to initialize the table. Then if someone adjusts the values in the form then clicks the button again it then reloads the flexigrid table with the new form values. How can I do this in one function? Right now I have the flexigrid code running on page load, then if they click the button it runs this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#RunReport').click( function() { var report_name = $('input[name=report-name]').val(); var report_cell = $('input[name=report-cell]').val(); var query_url = encodeURI('name=' + report_name + '&cell=' + report_cell); $('#reporting').flexOptions({ url: '/report.php?' + query_url }).flexReload(); }); }); </script> But instead of having it in both functions I wanted it all in one function only running the reload if flexigrid was already initialized. Hope this makes sense, still new at all of this.

  • Mootools - how to destroy a class instance

    - by Rob
    What I'm trying to do is create a class that I can quickly attach to links, that will fetch and display a thumbnail preview of the document being linked to. Now, I am focusing on ease of use and portability here, I want to simply add a mouseover event to links like this: <a href="some-document.pdf" onmouseover="new TestClass(this)">Testing</a> I realize there are other ways I can go about this that would solve my issue here, and I may end up having to do that, but right now my goal is to implement this as above. I don't want to manually add a mouseout event to each link, and I don't want code anywhere other than within the class (and the mouseover event creating the class instance). The code: TestClass = new Class({ initialize: function(anchor) { this.anchor = $(anchor); if(!this.anchor) return; if(!window.zzz) window.zzz = 0; this.id = ++window.zzz; this.anchor.addEvent('mouseout', function() { // i need to get a reference to this function this.hide(); }.bind(this)); this.show(); }, show: function() { // TODO: cool web 2.0 stuff here! }, hide: function() { alert(this.id); //this.removeEvent('mouseout', ?); // need reference to the function to remove /*** this works, but what if there are unrelated mouseout events? and the class instance still exists! ***/ //this.anchor.removeEvents('mouseout'); //delete(this); // does not work ! //this = null; // invalid assignment! //this = undefined; // invalid assignment! } }); What currently happens with the above code: 1st time out: alerts 1 2nd time out: alerts 1, 2 3rd time out: alerts 1, 2, 3 etc Desired behavior: 1st time out: alerts 1 2nd time out: alerts 2 3rd time out: alerts 3 etc The problem is, each time I mouse over the link, I'm creating a new class instance and appending a new mouseout event for that instance. The class instance also remains in memory indefinitely. On mouseout I need to remove the mouseout event and destroy the class instance, so on subsequent mouseovers we are starting fresh.

  • Jquery button.click bug?

    - by Chris
    I have the following home-grown jquery plugin: (function($) { $.fn.defaultButton = function(button) { var field = $(this); var target = $(button); if (field.attr('type').toLowerCase() != 'text') return; field.keydown(function (e) { if ((e.which || e.keyCode) == 13) { console.log('enter'); target.click(); return false; } }); } })(jQuery); I'm using it like so: $('#SignUpForm input').defaultButton('#SignUpButton'); $('#SignUpButton').click(function(e) { console.log('click'); $.ajax({ type: 'post', url: '<%=ResolveUrl("~/WebServices/ForumService.asmx/SignUp")%>', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', dataType: 'json', data: JSON.stringify({ email: $('#SignUpEmail').val(), password: $('#SignUpPassword').val() }), success: function(msg) { $.modal.close(); } }); }); The first time, it works. The second time, nothing happens. I see enter and click the first time in the firebug log, but the second time I only see the enter message. It's almost like the button's click handler is being unregistered somehow. Any thoughts?

    hi guys i am trying to implement jquery image hover popup but facing a problem when the popup is closer to browser edge it goes beyond its edge i want it to change its direction when it finds that space is not enough to show that popup, i have see this effect in many plugins where popups, tooltips and drop down menus change their direction if they are close to browser window edge can any one guide me in right direction here is the screen shot for reference http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/4990/browseredge.png here is the jquery hover code function imagePreview(){ /* CONFIG */ xOffset = 10; yOffset = 30; // these 2 variable determine popup's distance from the cursor // you might want to adjust to get the right result /* END CONFIG */ $("a.preview").hover(function(e){ this.t = this.title; this.title = ""; var c = (this.t != "") ? "<br>" + this.t : ""; var newName = this.name; //console.log(this.name); newName=newName.replace("/l/","/o/"); //console.log(newName); $("body").append("<p id='preview'><img src='"+ this.name +"' alt='Image preview' style='margin-bottom:5px;'>"+ c +"</p>"); $("#preview img").error(function () { $("#preview img").attr("src" ,newName).css({'width': '400px', 'height': 'auto'}); }); $("#preview") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px") .fadeIn("fast"); }, function(){ this.title = this.t; $("#preview").remove(); }); $("a.preview").mousemove(function(e){ $("#preview") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px"); }); }; any help will be appriciated Thanks Salman
