Use case: NorthScale's 64-bit Windows version of memcached runs as a generic application. I'd like to stick it into a Windows 2003 or 2008 Service so I can start/stop/restart/etc it through the standard interface.

    Hi, I want to upload files directly to IIS7 (in this case I am using the WebRequest object in .NET). Thus I need IIS7 to accept POST, PUT, and DELETE verbs such that I can upload and delete files on the server directly. Is it possible to have IIS accept files without a a web framework like ASP.NET? Essentially I want to be able to use IIS (HTTP) as an FTP server.

  • Can two different browser share on cookie?

    Hi Friends My requirement is pretty interesting, I want to maintain one cookie between two different browser for same domain. so lets say I have create one cookie with name "mydata" and value "hiscal" from IE, then if i browse same website from firefox and trying to read cookie "mydata" then system should give me value "hiscal" but this is not happen in general case so can any one tell me how i can share cookie between to different browser(client) of same domain.   • List of objects sent over WCF, but null list received?

    Hey there, I have an object containing a list of custom objects which I am returning over a response in WCF, however on the receiving end, the list is null? But it contains 112 objects just prior to stepping out of the service on the server. This wasn't always the case, I have seen it return a list. I've just recently upgraded it to use NET TCP bindings, but I can't confirm when I started losing the data or if it was since the conversion from wsHttpBinding to netTcpBinding as it moved along with about four other services. I have looked on the WCF Service messages and trace file and also the WCF client's messages and trace file, no exceptions reported, and both message logs indicate they are sending the List<T> and for client, receiving the list - very frustrating! It's not a super light array, but not huge either, around 100KB. it has about 12 properties each and as stated 112 items are being sent. I have tried everything I can think of on client and server, note: Client: this.binding = new NetTcpBinding(SecurityMode.None) { MaxReceivedMessageSize = int.MaxValue, ReaderQuotas = { MaxStringContentLength = int.MaxValue, MaxArrayLength = int.MaxValue } }; ... Server app.config (sorry I have no idea if the quota settings have any bearing on net tcp? Ok, It seems I have bigger problems. Because the list was the only thing I was sending, I thought it was an array issue. I am even setting an int to "25" and it's coming back as 0 - Anybody? I know I must have done something obviously stupid.

  • Multithreading or task parallel library

    I have an application which performs 30 independent tasks simultaneously using multithreading, each task retrieves data over http, performs a calculation and returns a result to the ui thread. Can I use tpl to perform the same tasks? Does tpl create 30 new threads and spread them over all the available cores, or does it just split the tasks over the available cores and use one thread per core? Will there be a performance boost using tpl over multithreading in this case?

The answers to this question cover a parser that generates a DOM (don't want that), and these answers suggest conforming the HTML to XML before sending it to Xerxes (can't do that in my case).   • Any way to simulate MouseOver in WPF

    I'm working on a link control in WPF which fits the text with icon links case in the Windows UX Guide. What I want is to have some text within a hyperlink that appears to the right of some image. In my case I started off by using a TextBlock that contained a Hyperlink which then contained my image and some text. <TextBlock> <Hyperlink> <Rectangle Height="16" Width="16" Fill="{StaticResource MyIconBrush}" Stretch="UniformToFill" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left" /> <Run>My link text</Run> </Hyperlink> </TextBlock> The problem with this however was that the image being taller than my text produced an effect where the text was aligned to the bottom. I know in the HTML world the label element has a for attribute that can be used to specify which control it is labeling which will basically do what I'm looking for. Also I can imagine that in other scenarios it may be nice to have a label that when you mouse over shows a corresponding text box as if the mouse is over it and possibly when clicked focus is given to the corresponding text box as well. For now though I'm interested mainly in how to to get a label or label like element in WPF to act as a proxy for a given control in terms of it's MouseOver state. Also I would like to do this purely in XAML if possible.

  • Problem with Keyboard hook proc

    The background: My form has a TWebBrowser. I want to close the form with ESC but the TWebBrowser eats the keystrokes - so I decided to go with a keyboard hook. The problem is that the Form can be open in multiple instances at the same time. No matter what I do, in some situations, if there are two instances open of my form, closing one of them closes the other as well. I've attached some sample code.     I'm creating an iPhone app and I'm trying to choose between 2 solutions for a persistent store. Core Data, or SQLitePersistentObjects. Basically, all my app needs is a way to store an array of model objects and then load them again to display in a UITableView. Its nothing too complicated. Core Data seems to have a much higher learning curve than the simple to use SQLitePersistentObjects. Are there any obvious benefits of using Core Data over SQLitePersistentObjects in my case?

I had essentially discounted the prospect of making Cocoa GUI applications myself because I have an aversion to spending time & effort learning yet another C-based language, Objective-C. I'm not saying it's bad, just not for me. Is it the case now, or in the probable future, that one will be able to make Cocoa GUI applications of substantial and first-class nature with MacRuby / HotCocoa alone while ignoring Objective-C completely?

    I have an application which uses a javascript based rules engine. I need a way to convert regular straight quotes into curl (or smart) quotes. It'd be easy to just do a string.replace for ["], only this will only insert one case of the curly quote. The best way I could think of was replace the first occurrence of a quote with a left curly quote and every other one following with a left, and the rest right curly. Is there a way to accomplish this using javascript?
