  • Visual C# Winforms App Not Displaying Graphical Elements in Design Mode

    I wrote a bunch of code in the .cs file in c# for a winforms application. The application runs fine, and everything is in it's place. Something like this: using.. namespace Temp { public class Temp : Form { Button b1; TextBox t1; Temp() { b1.Text = "Some Text"; b1.Size = new Size(50,20); ... } void function1() { // stuff } static void Main() { Application.Run(new Temp()); } } } How can I modify my code (or fix it somehow) so that the design view displays the elements in their correct positions and view so that I can visually edit them instead of having to trial/error everything. Edit for Clarification My application runs fine. The problem is, that I didn't use designer to create the application and so in the designer view, the app is empty. But not empty when I run it, since everything is positioned programmatically in the .cs file. My question is, how can I fix this, so that the designer shows the objects correctly. There is no quick fix other than to redesign everything?

I am trying to check the arrayList of Appointments and see if the field (resolved) is set to true, however I am receiving an ConcurrentModification exception during the searchOwner method when trying to set resolved = to true. I've tried using an Iterator in checkRemoval instead of an enhanced for-loop however that didn't help either. I really only need to get the part where the appointment is set to true to work, the checkRemoval seemed to be working early before implementing the changing of the boolean resolved. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The else branch, I tried to assign it directly which did not work. How would I go about assigning it directly? Thanks for your time.

  • Distinct() to return List<> returning Duplicates

    I have a list of Filters that are passed into a webservice and I iterate over the collection and do Linq query and then add to the list of products but when I do a GroupBy and Distinct() it doesn't remove the duplicates. I am using a IEnumerable because when you use Disinct it converts it to IEnumerable. If you know how to construct this better and make my function return a type of List<Product> that would be appreciated thanks.     Hi, I'm having a problem reading data from a text file into ms sql. I created a text file in my c:\ called data.txt, but for some reason ms sql server cannot find the file. I get the error "Cannot bulk load. The file "c:\data.txt" does not exist." Any ideas?   • Problem in homemade function to merge objects

    I'm trying to make a function that merges arrays. The reason is, I have a function that supposed to get the settings of an entity, and merge them with the global defaults. //So for example, let's say globalOptions is something like this var globalOptions={opt1:'foo',opt2:'something'}; //and this is entityOptions var entityOptions={opt1:'foofoo',opt2:null}; The only difference is it has objects in objects and objects in objects in objects, so what I made was a function that loops through all objects, thinking I would later, easily be able to loop through it all. Please ignore the array thing.   • In C, when do structure names have to be included in structure initializations and definitions?

    I'm reading The C Programming Language by K&R and in the section on structures I came across these code snippets: struct maxpt = { 320, 200 }; and /* addpoints: add two points */ struct addpoint(struct point p1, struct point p2) { p1.x += p2.x; p1.y += p2.y; return p1; } In the first case, it looks like it's assigning the values 320 and 200 to the members of the variable maxpt. But I noticed the name of the struct type is missing (shouldn't it be "struct struct_name maxpt = {320, 200}"? In the second case, the function return type is just "struct" and not "struct name_of_struct". I don't get why they don't include the struct names - how does it know what particular type of structure it's dealing with? My confusion is compounded by the fact that in previous snippets they do include the structure name, such as in the return type for the following function, where it's "struct point" and not just "struct". Why do they include the name in some cases and not in others? /* makepoint: make a point from x and y components */ struct point makepoint(int x, int y) { struct point temp; temp.x = x; temp.y = y; return temp; }

    My knowledge level here is like zilch, but please bear with me. I have a site built in PHP/MySQL that uses the Smarty template engine. There's a registration form that, for some reason, isn't posting the data to the DB.   • Why does Java automatically decode %2F in URI encoded filenames?

    I have a java servlet that needs to write out files that have a user-configurable name. I am trying to use URI encoding to properly escape special characters, but the JRE appears to automatically convert encoded forward slashes (%2F) into path separators. Example: File dir = new File("C:\Documents and Setting\username\temp"); String fn = "Top 1/2.pdf"; URI uri = new URI( dir.toURI().toASCIIString() + URLEncoder.encoder( fn, "UTF-8" ).toString() ); File out = new File( uri ); System.out.println( dir.toURI().toASCIIString() ); System.out.println( URLEncoder.encoder( fn, "UTF-8" ).toString() ); System.out.println( uri.toASCIIString() ); System.out.println( output.toURI().toASCIIString() ); The output is: file:/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/username/temp/ Top+1%2F2.pdf file:/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/username/temp/Top+1%2F2.pdf file:/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/username/temp/Top+1/2.pdf After the new File object is instantiated, the %2F sequence is automatically converted to a forward slash and I end up with an incorrect path. Does anybody know the proper way to approach this issue? The core of the problem seems to be that uri.equals( new File(uri).toURI() ) == FALSE when there is a '%2F' in the URI. I'm planning to just use the URLEncoded string verbatim rather than trying to use the File(uri) constructor.

  • Creating packages in code - Package Configurations

    Continuing my theme of building various types of packages in code, this example shows how to building a package with package configurations. Incidentally it shows you how to add a variable, and a connection too. It covers the five most common configurations: Configuration File Indirect Configuration File SQL Server Indirect SQL Server Environment Variable  For a general overview try the SQL Server Books Online Package Configurations topic. The sample uses a a simple helper function ApplyConfig to create or update a configuration, although in the example we will only ever create. The most useful knowledge is the configuration string (Configuration.ConfigurationString) that you need to set. Configuration Type Configuration String Description Configuration File The full path and file name of an XML configuration file. The file can contain one or more configuration and includes the target path and new value to set. Indirect Configuration File An environment variable the value of which contains full path and file name of an XML configuration file as per the Configuration File type described above. SQL Server A three part configuration string, with each part being quote delimited and separated by a semi-colon. -- The first part is the connection manager name. The connection tells you which server and database to look for the configuration table. -- The second part is the name of the configuration table. The table is of a standard format, use the Package Configuration Wizard to help create an example, or see the sample script files below. The table contains one or more rows or configuration items each with a target path and new value. -- The third and final part is the optional filter name. A configuration table can contain multiple configurations, and the filter is  literal value that can be used to group items together and act as a filter clause when configurations are being read. If you do not need a filter, just leave the value empty. Indirect SQL Server An environment variable the value of which is the three part configuration string as per the SQL Server type described above. Environment Variable An environment variable the value of which is the value to set in the package. This is slightly different to the other examples as the configuration definition in the package also includes the target information. In our ApplyConfig function this is the only example that actually supplies a target value for the Configuration.PackagePath property. The path is an XPath style path for the target property, \Package.Variables[User::Variable].Properties[Value], the equivalent of which can be seen in the screenshot below, with the object being our variable called Variable, and the property to set is the Value property of that variable object. The configurations as seen when opening the generated package in BIDS: The sample code creates the package, adds a variable and connection manager, enables configurations, and then adds our example configurations. The package is then saved to disk, useful for checking the package and testing, before finally executing, just to prove it is valid.     I have a problem with loading an .obj file in LWJGL and its textures.     First off i know the multiplying part is wrong but i have some questions about the code. 1. When i am overloading my operator+ i print out the matrix using cout << *this then right after i return *this and when i do a+b on matix a and matix b it doesnt give me the same thing this is very confusing. 2. When i make matrix c down in my main i cant use my default constructor for some reason because when i go to set it = using my assignment operator overloaded function it gives me an error saying "expression must be a modifiable value. although using my constructor that sets the row and column numbers is the same as my default constructor using (0,0). 3.     So this is my first foray into threads and thus far it is driving me insane. My problem seems to be some kind of synchronization error that causes my consumer thread to hang. I've looked at other code and just about everything I could find and I can't find what my error is. There also seems to be a discrepancy between the code being executed in Eclipse and via javac in the command line. Intention - Using a bounded buffer (with 1000 slots) create and consume 1,000,000 doubles. Use only notify and wait. Problem - In Eclipse the consumer thread will occasionally hang around 940,000 iterations, but other times completes. In the command line the consumer thread always hangs. Output - Eclipse - Successful Producer has produced 100000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 100000 doubles. Producer has produced 200000 doubles. Consumer has consumed 200000 doubles.
