  • Windows Media Player - always show Current Time/Total Time

    I'm using Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7. When I open a video file then it by default only shows the current position (time). If I click on it once then it changes to format Current Time / Total Time Is there any way to make this format permanent (registry hack/some setting I have not noticed)? Right now every time I close WMP and open another file it's back to the default (only current time) setting.

  • How can you control the speed of fan that comes with the Antec Sonata III case from the outside?

    The Antec Sonata III case comes with a nice 120mm fan that has a 3 speed switch. Most of the time the fan is fine on low, but for games or other taxing workloads I need to switch it to medium or high. Opening the case every time I want to change the setting is kind of a pain. Has anyone figured out a way to control the speed from the outside of the case without going nuclear (e.g. cutting holes in the case)? Other than this annoyance I like the case and the fan that comes with it.

Were looking about major differences compared to windows 8, found less. for example new file system - can it affect me? In my usual day I need development instruments alike visual studio, virtualization tools, and some games So far I can't find something that must stop me, everything I need can work (seems like) there.   • Windows 8 Fails to resume from sleep

    I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen. I didn't have this issue using Windows 7. Here are my system specs: HP G60-235DX Notebook PC Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 at 2.00Ghz 3 GBS of RAM Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with 1309MB of video memory Windows 8 Pro 64 bit

    I'm running some lengthy video encodes using the Handbrake command line interface. After all my encodes are done, I would like to have the PC speaker beep, as I usually turn my large external speakers off. On Linux I would install the "beep" package, but so far I haven't found such a program for Windows 7.   • I have a new seagate 3tb hard drive and when i installed it it says 349gb free

    my new seagate sata drive keeps showing as a 249gb drive but in the setup part when i press del at the boot up it states there a 3000gb drive and i have searched for a solution but havent found one yet. I havent tried in a different pc yet and I have an asus gaming board with 2 video cards sli'ed and i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit with 8gb ram and a hp 23" widescreen monitor and the sniper gaming case and a salitek lighted up gaming keyboard and a razor death adder gaming mouse and a corsair 850 watt power supply. Any help would be great and appriciated

  • Linux Twinview : copy window application to both screens

    I use the SUN Presenter Openoffice Extension with a twinview Ubuntu laptop. it works well : I have the video-projector with my presentation and my laptop screen with the slides (and time...). My problem is when I want to present a mono-screen application, like Firefox, gnome-terminal. It is displayed only on one monitor, which is not really efficient if you want to be interactive. Is there a way to display these types of application on both display and to interact with both ? Thanks

  • Connect Ubuntu 11.04 to xbox 360

    I'd like to be able to stream .avi files to my xbox 360 video library. I've gone through a bunch of different servers (ushare, xbmc) both from the aptitude and from source. It seems that I can get the servers working from both localhost and from another computer on the network. However, the xbox cannot detect any of these. Can anybody give me a hand or perhaps post a detailed walkthrough to give me a hand? Thanks!

I've searched the web, but havent found anything on how to make Windows Media Player to access a TV tuner. The reason for using WMP rather than the Media Center is actually for work, because I am developping a video plugin for media player, and I'd like to test it using live TV footage.     Wikipedia claims (although the latter claim does not cite a source) that: High-end keyboards that provide full n-key rollover typically do so via a PS/2 interface as the USB mode most often used by operating systems has a maximum of only six keys plus modifiers that can be pressed at the same time.[4] This hinders fast typists, ... In what way would the system being able to recognize only six non-modifier keys at once hinder a fast typist? I consider myself a relatively fast typist and I usually press one key, plus modifiers, at once; I can't imagine any real-life situation in which the system only recognizing six non-modifier keys being pressed at once has been a limiting factor in my keyboard usage. (Multi-stroke keyboard shortcuts as used by high-end software like Visual Studio, Emacs and the like are a different matter.) Note that I am not really interested in answers centered around multiplayer computer games; I'm looking for answers that give reasons that would be relevant to typists, somehow supporting the statement made on Wikipedia.

  • What are the limitations of virtual machines?

    I'm considering setting up a virtual machine running Windows, with Ubuntu 10.10 as the host OS, for those cases where I have a Windows-only program. I understand that using a VM will lose some performance, but are there other limitations to what the OS in a virtual machine can do compared to "running on bare metal"? For example: Can a VM play games, like Dragon Age Origins or Civilization V? (Possibly with poorer framerates and/or lower resolution, but does it play at all?) Can a VM rip DVD/Blue-ray using AnyDVD or similar Windows program? Can a VM handle new hardware that requires dedicated drivers, but the drivers are only available for the OS running inside the VM? (Ex. graphics card, digital camera, card reader for smart card authentication.) Is it possible to say anything about "general limitations" of VMs, or is this wholly dependent on the specific VM?

    I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic). And, my ~/.pam_environment looks like the following. PATH DEFAULT=${PATH}:~/Adobe/Reader9/bin:~/texlive/2009/bin/x86_64-linux GIT_EDITOR DEFAULT=vim MANPATH DEFAULT=${MANPATH}:~/texlive/2009/texmf/doc/man INFOPATH DEFAULT=${INFOPATH}:~/texlive/2009/texmf/doc/info But, echo $PATH returns me duplicated entries as the following. /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:~/apps/Adobe/Reader9/bin:~/apps/texlive/2009/bin/x86_64-linux:~/apps/Adobe/Reader9/bin:~/apps/texlive/2009/bin/x86_64-linux I've tried replacing DEFAULT by OVERRIDE in my ~/.pam_environment file. But, that didn't help. Does any one know what's wrong with my ~/.pam_environment?

    I am thinking of assembling this system: AMD CPU (A8-3870 APU which has Radeon HD 6550D inside: 400 stream processors:xxx GFLOPS) nearly 110$ AMD Graphics card: HD 7750 (512 stream processors:819 GFLOPS peak performance) nearly 170$ Appropriate ram (1600MHz bus) Mainboard What GFLOPS level can I reach as a stable mode with using OpenCL and similar programs? Can I use all 912 stream processors at the same time? I am not trying to do a VS question. I need to know what could be better for scientific computing (%75 of the time) and gaming (%25 of the time) because I have a low budget. With "scientific calculations" I mean fluid dynamics/solid state physics simulating; with games I mean those that need openCL and PhysX.
