• Dolphin search bar missing. How can i get it back?

  A while ago, my search bar went missing in dolphin. If the search toolbar is checked for view/unhide, nothing shows up. I noticed if i check and uncheck the button to hide/unhide it, a small, thin content-less bar slightly pushes the rest of the toolbar up. i tried reconfiguring with dpkg, purging and reinstalling, etc. i left it alone as i thought it would be fixed in an update, but today i upgraded daolphin and it's still gone. any thoughts?

• How should I handle "real time" events in an online strategy game?

  Some online strategy games have real time events. For example when you send troops to attack somewhere, the attack happens at the right time in the future. Checking the database again and again to get the list of attacks happening each second would cause heavy load. Is there any technique to achieve this goal? Another example: You want to attack a village 3 hours away, you send troops and the attack occurs 3 hours later. Should there be an script to check the database at each second to run the query at the specified time?

• My blog which gets 300+ daily impressions has stopped appearing on the 1st page of Google

  I have a blog regarding Placement papers from December 2010. My monthly impressions are around 4000. For the last 2 days, my blog has disappeared from Google search engine result pages. Impressions have reduced drastically. Please check Stat reports: My blog is still on the search engine because when I search site: mydomain.com on Google, I can see my all pages indexed over there… But my pages which used to appear on the first or second pages of Google do not appear any more. Example: If I search with query GE round 2 code writing test on bing.com or Yahoo search, the first link on the result page is my blog. But if you do same on Google, my URLs do not appear even on the 1st 3 result pages. I used to get lots of visitors by these search query earlier.

• How do Expires headers and cache manifest rules work together?

  I find the W3C's official Offline Web Applications specification to be rather vague about how the cache manifest interacts with headers such as ETag, Expires, or Pragma on cached assets. I know that the manifest should be checked with each request so that the browser knows when to check the other assets for updates. But because the specification doesn't define how the cache manifest interacts with normal cache instructions, I can't predict precisely how the browser will react. Will assets with a future expiration date be refreshed (no matter the cache headers) when the cache manifest is updated? Or, will those assets obey the normal caching rules? Which caching mechanism, HTTP cache versus cache manifest, will take precedence, and when?

• How do I allow all possible IPs for Gmail servers through my ufw firewall?

  I am currently using the following rule: ufw allow out from my_local_ip to any port 587 This is a little too lax for my liking. I would like to tighten it up and restrict it to only gmail's smtp server ip addresses, but they are always changing. I used to just wait until an outgoing email didn't make it to its destination, then check syslog for the ip address that was blocked, then add that to the ufw configure script. However, now I have a need for much more reliability. Is there any way to use smtp.gmail.com in ufw? I don't think so, but thought I would ask. Any other ideas? Thanks.

• New Bing Maps

  Normally I don't stray too far from Programming and TFS on my blog posts but I'm just really impressed with how much Silverlight has improved Bing maps. I use to be big on MapQuest, then hopped over to Google, but now the new Bing Maps have everything I need. The two coolest features are right on the main page. All you have to do is go to http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/, enter your city and hit enter in the search box, then look in the lower left corner under the EXPLORE section. Check out the "What's nearby" and "Restaurants" links. The best part is, if you're interested in doing any Silverlight programming, they have a Bing Maps Silverlight Control Interactive SDK. I was thinking about coding something....but they've pretty much got it down :) Pretty impressive stuff.

• SOLVED BleachBit: How to Completely Clear URL History in Firefox?

  14.04 / Firefox 29.0 I've been using Bleachbit to clear usage/file history, and for the most part it works great. However, it doesn't seem to clear the website hostnames out of the URL, at all. These addresses are not bookmarked. Also, the total URL isn't preserved, just the hostname. Visit site http://www.bluesnews.com/some_random_URL_string Exit Firefox Run Bleachbit, with ALL Firefox options selected Restart Firefox Check history: completely empty, other than bookmarked sites. www.bluesnews is NOT bookmarked Type "blue" which is Firefox automatically completes as "http://www.bluesnews.com/" Alternate Step #3: Use Firefox's built-in "Clear History" and select ALL entries with a time frame of "Everything". Same result as above. My inquiry in BB forums hasn't been responded to. I found Dan's proposed solution, however changing autocomplete in about:config only turns off the function, it doesn't actually stop storing URLs.   I'm writing a small game using OpenGL. I'm implementing basic networking in this game and I'm facing a problem. I have a thread in my client socket class that check for available data, when there are data I raise an event like this : immutable int len = this.m_socket.receive(data); if(len > 0) { this.m_onDataEvent(data); } Then on my game class, I have a function that handle and parse data like this : switch(msgId) { case ProtocolID.CharacterData: // Load terrain with opengl, character model.... Im not able to call opengl functions because my opengl context is created from a different thread. But I really don't know how I can solve this problem, I tried Google but it's really hard to find a solution. I'm using D programming language if it can help.

• Best practices for including open source code from other public projects?

  If I use an existing open source project that is hosted for example on github within one of my projects, should I check in the code from the other project into my public repo or not? I have mixed feelings about this, #1 I want to give proper credit and attribution to the original developer, and if appropriate I will contribute back any changes I need to make. However given that I have developed / tested against a specific revision of the other projects code, that is the version that I want to distribute to users of my project. Here is the specific use case to illustrate my point. I am looking for a more generalized answer than this specific case. I am developing simple framework using rabbitmq and python for outbound messages that will allow for sending sms, twitter, email, and is extensible to support additional messaging buses as well. There is a project on github that will make the creation and sending of SMS messages developed by another person. When I create my own repo how do I account for the code that I am including from the other project?

• unzip can't work well?

  Things like this, my friend send me a package named qcon.zip with his Mac pc. I use ubuntu system,when I use the command to unzip the folder,I found something was wrong.I check the permission,and use another soft named 7z,but it can't work now. when i use the command unzip qcon.zip unzip qcon.zip -d test/ it returns me that: unzip: cannot find or open ”-O, ”-O.zip or ”-O.ZIP. So after install 7z,the command I use , Error: qcon.zip: Can not open file as archive --add the command file--- file qcon.zip it returns qcon.zip: Zip archive data, at least v1.0 to extract So,what can I do now,the folder permission is right.

What you do is, open the view in SharePoint Designer, then you click on the field you wish to see the ECB menu in, then you will see a little floatie button with this on it ">", then, you click on that floatie, and it shows a little popup with 2 checkboxes in it. • Checking whether a specific key was pressed in enchantJS

  I am using enchantJS and would like to use the letters and numbers as well as numpad on a keyboard to do different things (eg: hotkeys). From this page http://users.csc.calpoly.edu/~foaad/enchant/guide/playerInput.html By default, enchant.js provides input listeners for six buttons: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, A, and B. By default, the directions are bound to the arrow keys. Any of the six buttons may also be bound to any key with an ASCII value. We’ll address that later. So enchant provides the ability to bind keys to different input such as up, down, left, right...but how can I simply check whether the D or X key was pressed, and if so, perform certain actions based on that event?

• Why doesn't 12.04 recognize my ATI Radeon X300SE graphics card?

  So far everything including the BCM4321 card is working, however, the OEM ATI Radeon X300SE (RV370) is not recognized. When I go into system details the card comes up as unknown. When I run lspci the card shows up as: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV370 5B60 [Radeon X300 (PCIE)] 01:00.1 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV370 [Radeon X300SE] I have attempted check Additional Drivers but the card does not show up as needing a driver. So far this is causing the system to run warmer as the processor is doing a bit of the work to run Unity and any full screen videos tend to be rather choppy. Is there an available driver that will fix my issue and what is the install method? I am not scared to run a terminal so no worries there, as long as I have instructions, I can find my way. I am running under 12.04 LTS Kernel 3.2.0-25-generic-pae

  I've mentioned in the past that Oracle has invested quite a bit in acquiring social companies to build out its Social Relationship Management suite.  The concept is to shift away from transactions and towards engagement.  Social media represents a great opportunity to engage with customers, learn what they want, and personalize the shopping experience for them. My one, BIG, fear has been that I'll receive some mongo bill in the mail because I've exceeded the MSDN testing limit. I know people that have had that problem. • "Unable to mount location. Failed to mount Windows share" error when trying to share folders

  I have two Ubuntu machines both on 11.10 I want to share folders from one to the other. If, on the server machine, (in Nautilus) I right click on the folders and click Properties Share Share this folder Create share. Then on the client I'm prompted for a username and password. My username and password does not work. If I select "Guest access" check box then I get "Unable to mount location. Failed to mount Windows share" This should be straightforward, right?

• Ubuntu start up screen broken

  I set up dual boot on my extra pc last night. first installed windows 7 and that went just fine. Downloaded Ubuntu and then did the MD5SUM and did not get a correct return that were listed on the site. I forgot to do that before I burnt the image to a disc. so I booted from the disc anyway to do the intergrity check and no errors were found. I then installed and everything seems fine except when it's booting, the purple screen is broken. should I try to redownload and re install?
