• publishing asp.net website give "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error

  Good day I am using VS 2008 I am getting fed up with this error. I have search all over the web and tried every possible suggestion to this error I could find. 1. delete app_code, build, add files back, publish. (did not work) 2. delete temporary asp.net files (did not work) in the end I even tried the command line and get the following stacktrace. error ASPRUNTIME: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. • Find the "largest" dense sub matrix in a large sparse matrix

  Given a large sparse matrix (say 10k+ by 1M+) I need to find a subset, not necessarily continuous, of the rows and columns that form a dense matrix (all non-zero elements). I want this sub matrix to be as large as possible (not the largest sum, but the largest number of elements) within some aspect ratio constraints. Are there any known exact or aproxamate solutions to this problem? A quick scan on Google seems to give a lot of close-but-not-exactly results. What terms should I be looking for? edit: Just to clarify; the sub matrix need not be continuous. In fact the row and column order is completely arbitrary so adjacency is completely irrelevant. A thought based on Chad Okere's idea Order the rows from largest count to smallest count (not necessary but might help perf) Select two rows that have a "large" overlap Add all other rows that won't reduce the overlap Record that set Add whatever row reduces the overlap by the least Repeat at #3 until the result gets to small Start over at #2 with a different starting pair Continue until you decide the result is good enough

• Synchronize the position of two ScrollView views

  I am trying to synchronize the positions of two ScrollViews. I'm trying to do this to display a tv guide listing. I have created a custom class that extends RelativeLayout to display the guide. This relative layout has four children: an imageview in the top left corner, a HorizontalScrollView to display the column headers in the top right, a ScrollView to display the row headers at the bottom left, and a ScrollView in the bottom right that contains the listings. This ScrollView then contains a HorizontalScrollView, which in turn contains a LinearLayout with multiple child views that display the data. I hope this explains it clearly, but here's a diagram to make it clearer: ____________ |__|___hsv___| | | | | | sv -> | | | hsv -> | |sv| ll -> | | | etc | | | | |__|_________| I set it up like this because I wanted the guide listings to scroll both horizontally and vertically, but there's no scroll view that does this. Also, I want the row and column headers to display no matter what position the guide listings are at, but I want them to be lined up properly. So I'm trying to find a way to synchronize the positions of the two hsv's, and to also synchronize the positions of the two sv's. I'm also trying to do it in a way that avoids just running a handler every few milliseconds to poll one view and call scrollTo on the other. I'm in no way sure that this is the best way to do it, but this is what I've come up with. If anybody has any other suggestions, please feel free!

• Cannot cause $(this).find("a").click(); to fire using JQuery

  Hi Everyone, I have a small question which should be very easy for the jquery experts out there. I am trying to follow http://aspdotnetcodebook.blogspot.com/2010/01/page-languagec-autoeventwireuptrue.html to be able to perform an action on gridview row double click. I can redirect to another page fine (as shown in the example) but I cannot cause the $(this).find("a").click(); to fire.   I've had two previous questions about active record store that all came down to the same thing. Here's what I want: I want to access the session at any time and see who is online right now and access their session variable from anywhere. I need this because: Users are separated into groups. If one person logs in he receives an api token that I receive from some third party site. If a person from the same group logs in he needs to have that same api token in his session. I cannot regenerate new api tokens on a per call basis. I think active record store is a perfect solution for me, however, I have a problem implementing it!!! InvalidAuthenticityToken keeps getting thrown because I used to use the default cookie store. The relation "companyRowByBuyFromCompanyFK" exists, as in Deals_SelectionChanged I can access companyRowByBuyFromCompanyFK property of the Deals row, and I also can access the CompanyName propert of that row. Is the reason why this is not working because XAML binding uses the [] indexer? Rather than properties on the CompanyRows in my DataTable? At the moment im getting values such as - TGS - 3 - TGS - 4 What would be the best way to accomplish this? Make a converter to convert foreign keys using Table being referenced as custom parameter. Create Table View for each table? This would be long winded as I have quite a large number of tables that have foreign keys.

• VERY strange stack overflow in C++ program

  Hello, I wrote a program some time ago (Mac OS X, C++, SDL, FMOD) and it perfomed rather good. But lately I wanted to extend its functionality and added some more code to it. And now, when I run it and try to test the new functionality, the program crashes with SIGABRT. Looking into debugger, on function stack I see: _kill kill$UNIX2003 raise __abort __stack_chk_fail odtworz <-- my function that was was modified As far as I know, "__stack_chk_fail" indicates a stack overflow. But that's not the weirdest thing about it. In this function "odtworz", I have some code like this: ... koniec = 0; while ( koniec == 0 ) { ... if (mode == 1) { ... } else if (mode == 2) { ... } else if (mode == 3) { ... } } mode is a global variable and is set to value "2" in a function before. And now imagine - if I delete the third if statement (mode == 3) which never gets executed in this mode, the program doesn't crash! Deleting code that doesn't even get to be executed helps the situation! Now, I don't want to delete this code because it's for other mode of my program. And it works fine there. So any hints where I can search? What could be possibly wrong with this?

• ListView + MultipleSelect + MVVM = ?

  If I were to say "the heck with it!", I could just give my ListView with SelectionMode="Multiple" a name, and be able to get all of the selected items very easily. But I'm trying to stick to MVVM as much as possible, and I want to somehow databind to an ObservableCollection that holds the value from the Name column for each selected item. How in the world do you do this? Single selection is simple, but the multi selection solution is not obvious to me with my current WPF / MVVM knowledge. I read this question on SO, and while it does give me some good insight, I don't know how to add the necessary binding to a row, because I am using a ListView with a GridView as its View, not a ListBox. Here's what my XAML basically looks like: <ListView DockPanel.Dock="Top" ItemsSource="{Binding ClientPreview}" SelectionMode="Multiple"> <ListView.View> <GridView AllowsColumnReorder="False"> <GridViewColumn Header="Name"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> <GridViewColumn Header="Address"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Address}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> It sounds like the right thing to do is to databind each row's IsSelected property to each object stored in the ObservableCollection I'm databinding to. I just haven't figured out how to do this.

• Scrolling issues with GridView in Android

  I am having weird scrolling issues in my pretty simple GridView. Each item in the Grid is simply and ImageView and a TextView. The activity itself is simply an application selector. It looks like a rough version of the basic App Tray in Android. The issue is that after spending some times scrolling through my view, it will inevitably allow me to continue scrolling past the top row of icons, to a blank screen, and the scroll bar will disappear, leaving me stuck. It doesn't happen every time I go to the top of the view, only sometimes, and usually only after some excessive scrolling. If I happen to notice the problem and catch it before the top row disappears off the bottom of the screen, I can usually scroll back through the view and spot some icons missing. There are empty spaces in the grid, and I can only assume that those icons have been moved to some bizarre position, which is allowing the view to scroll past the top. This is my first Android app beyond a basic Hello World, so it's likely that I've just screwed up something in my layout files. I also realize that this is probably a pretty confusing description, so I'm hoping someone has experienced this and my search abilities simply were unable to find it. I can post my layout files or other code if someone thinks that's useful. Oh, and the program is built against 1.5, but is running on 2.2 (whatever state of 2.2 that was that snuck out last week) on my phone. I don't have enough apps to test this on an emulator, but could probably set something up if someone felt it necessary. Thanks in advance for any help on the issue.

  I'm doing some maintenance on an older web application written in Monorail v1.0.3. I want to unit test an action that uses RenderText(). How do I extract the content in my test? Reading from controller.Response.OutputStream doesn't work, since the response stream is either not setup properly in PrepareController(), or is closed in RenderText(). • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

  I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc... My Problem scenario is this: The DataContext is on the SchoolclassAdministrationViewModel what is the ViewModel containing the AllSchoolclassesViewModel ObservableCollection bound to the SchoolclassAdministration.xaml UserControl. My SchoolclassViewModel,PupilViewModel and SubjectViewModel has all Properties, Commands(Add/Delete). My Question: How can I set these 3 ViewModels as DataContext to my ONE SchoolclassAdministration.xaml UserControl I have? Before you answer... putting every ViewModel(schoolclass,pupil,subject) in its own UserControl will not help me because then the Master-Detail switching can NOT work anymore. I figured out how to update my changes fine, but it's when the user creates a new row that I'm having a problem. I tried numerous ways and many google searches, but came up with nothing so far.   Hello, I have a WCF service which performs CRUD operation on my data model: Add, Get, Update and Delete. And I'm using Entity Framework for my data model. On the other side there is a client application which calls methods of the WCF service. For example I have a Customer class: [DataContract] public class Customer { public Guid CustomerId {get; set;} public string CustomerName {get; set;} } and WCF service defines this method: public void AddCustomer(Customer c) { MyEntities _entities = new MyEntities(); _entities.AddToCustomers(c); _entities.SaveChanges(); } and the client application passes objects to the WCF service: var customer = new Customer(){CustomerId = Guid.NewGuid, CustomerName="SomeName"}; MyService svc = new MyService(); svc.Add(customer); // or svc.Update(customer) for example But when I need to pass a great amount of objects to the WCF it could be a perfomance issue because of I need to create ObjectContext each time when I'm doing Add(), Update(), Get() or Delete(). What I'm thinking on is to keep ObjectContext on the client and pass ObjectContext to the wcf methods as additional parameter. Is it possible to create and keep ObjectContext on the client and don't recreate it for each operation? If it is not, how could speed up the passing of huge amount of data to the wcf service? Sergey

If i close the form and reopen it, and avoid using the cascading combo boxes all the values are all correct when i move between records. Somehow using the cascading combo boxes creates a conflict with the row source of the secondary combo box. Hope that is clear! I put extended properties on the exchange appointments in order to preserve the mapping between appointments in the two calendars. Everything is working fine until I try to remove an extended property from an occurrence of a recurring appointment. When I try doing this, I get the error: The delete action is not supported for this property. Is the reason why this is not working because XAML binding uses the [] indexer? Rather than properties on the CompanyRows in my DataTable? At the moment im getting values such as - TGS - 3 - TGS - 4 What would be the best way to accomplish this? Make a converter to convert foreign keys using Table being referenced as custom parameter. Create Table View for each table? This would be long winded as I have quite a large number of tables that have foreign keys.

  I'm writing a bash script to sync my iTunes music directory to a directory on a removable hard drive. The script works fine when there is absolutely nothing in the folder on the external hard drive. Once all files have been copied to the external drive, then the script begins to act strange. Even though i just sync'd everything over, it proceeds to recopy certain files again.
