  • Cannot create a new VS data connection in Server Explorer

    I have a local instance of SQL Server 2008 express edition running on my development PC. I'm trying to create a new data connection through Visual Studio Server Explorer. The steps are the following: Right click the "Data Connections" node = Choose Data Source. I select "Microsoft SQL Server" as the data source. The "Add Connection" dialog window appears. I select my local server instance = "Test connection" works fine. I select "AdventureWorks" as the database name = "Test connection" works fine. Next I hit the "Ok" button = Error message: "This server version is not supported. Only servers up to MS SQL Server 2005 are supported." I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. The target framework of the application is ".NET framework 3.5". I have a reference to System.Data (framework v2.0) and cannot find another version of the assembly on my system. Am I referencing the wrong assembly? How can I fix this problem?

  • How do would you use jQuery's .each() to apply the same script to each element with the same class?

    I have a with multiple cart items listed. I have a "x-men logo" looking remove button that I want to fade-in next to the item when the customer hovers over a cart item. I had no issue getting this to work when there is only one item in the list. However, when there are multiple items in the cart, the jQuery operates funky. It still does the fade in, but only when I hover over the last item in the cart, and of course all of the "remove X" images become visible. Argh... So i searched around and think the .each() is my savior. I have been trying to get it to work, with no luck. My script just breaks when I attempt to implement it. Anyone have any pointers on this *.each() thing and how to implement it into my script?* I have tried putting a cartItem.each(function(){ around the mouseEnter/mouseLeave events (and used some $(this) selectors to make it "make sense") and that didn't do anything. Tried some other things as well with no luck...     My code thus far: $(".lorem img:not(.full-img)").each(function() { $(this).addClass("inline-img"); var imgWidth = $(this).prop('width'); var imgHeight = $(this).prop('height'); var imgFloat = $(this).prop('float'); $(this).wrap('<div class="inline-img-wrap" />'); if ($(this).prop("title")!='') { $('<p class="inline-img-caption">').text($(this).prop('title')).insertAfter($(this)); } }); I am searching for images within a body of text, appending their title values as captions underneath, and wrapping both img and p in a div.inline-img-wrap. That works fine. What I need help with is applying the styling of the img to the new wrapping div instead. You can see I have created vars for just this, but cannot get applying them to work. $this will always apply to the image, and <div class="inline-img-wrap" style="width:'+imgWidth+'"> doesn't work. All advice appreciated!

  • Can I get a WPF ListBox to inherit brushes from parent element?

    My WPF window has its foreground brush set to a brush from a resource dictionary, and I want all text in the window to have this color, so I don't touch the foreground brush in anything else. Textboxes get the color Textblocks get the color Buttons get the color Listboxes do not get the color, and so neither do their contents. Is there any way to get a Listbox to behave like the other controls in this respect? Assuming not, and that this is by design, what is the rationale?

If so, what am I doing wrong?

  • Javascript problem when setting src for img element in FireFox - string parsing error?

    I'm having problems with image's on the page. I'm using Javascript to create the elements, and in FireFox it seems the string that I'm using to set the innerHTML is not being parsed correctly. I'll see this when the server page is requested with invalid GET variables. They look like this (from the PHP script's error handler): GET[] = Array ( [shrink] => true [file_id] => \' file_id \' [refresh] => \' now.getTime() \' ) This only happens for about 5% of requests, which is making it difficult to solve. I have been able to reproduce this myself in FireFox, and Firebug will show that the URL it is trying to fetch is: https://www.domain.com/secure/%27%20+%20image_src%20+%20%27 I read somewhere that it might be related to FireFox prefetching content (can't find it googling now), since it seems to only happen on FireFox. Disabling prefetching in about:config does prevent the problem from occurring, but I'm looking for another solution or workaround that doesn't involve end users changing their configurations. Here's the specifics and code: I have an empty table cell on an HTML page. In JQuery's $(document).ready() function for the page, I used JQuery's $.ajax() method to get some data from the server about what should be in that cell. It returns the file_id variable, which for simplicity I just set below. It then sets the empty table cell to have an image with src that points to a page that will serve the image file depending on what file_id is passed. This part of the code was JQuery originally, so I changed it to straight Javascript but that didn't help anything. //get data about image from server //this is actually done through JQuery's $.ajax() but you get the idea var file_id = 12; //create the src for the img //the refresh is to prevent the image from being cached ever, since the page's //javascript will be it changes //during the course of the page's life var now = new Date(); var image_src = 'serve_image.php?shrink=true&file_id=' + file_id + '&refresh=' + now.getTime(); //create document.getElementById('image_cell').innerHTML = '<A target="_blank" href="serve_image.php?file_id=' + file_id + '">' + '<IMG id=image_element src="' + image_src + '" alt="Loading...">' + '</A>';` Any help would be greatly appreciated.   • Fetch a Rails ActiveRecord 'datetime' attribute as a DateTime object.

    I have an attribute in one of my models that contains a Date/Time value, and is declared using t.datetime :ended_on in my migrations. When I fetch this value using myevent.ended_on, I get a Time object. The problem is that when I try to use this attribute as an axis in a Flotilla chart, it doesn't work properly because Flotilla only recognizes dates as Date or DateTime objects. I thought about writing a virtual attribute that will convert the existing Time value to a DateTime, but I'm wary of doing this, since I've heard that Time can't handle dates later than 2040, and I don't wish to risk creating a "2040 bug" to worry about later. Is there any way I can persuade ActiveRecord to return DateTime objects for this attribute instead of Time objects?
