  • iScsiPrt error event ID 5

    Event Log: "Failed to setup initiator portal. Error status is given in the dump data." This is being recorded every 3/100's of a second. We are using MS iSCSI Initiator on Windows Server 2003, Dell 2970 w/4GB (PAE). I am sure that this was configured by Dell initially. I have no idea what changes or mods were made since the company installed this machine until now. (I'm a new User so the lovely and vibrant screen images had to be removed. They were quite pretty and I am sure you would have been very moved and appreciative of them.) It appears that everything is installed correctly and the 5TB bound volume is accessible but I have never worked with iScsi before so I plead total ignorance. In searching I have found this to be a fairly sparce and bland documented subject. I'd like two things... First, to get rid of the error msg being logged. MS says it can be ignored if everything is working but it chews up resources logging it and I don't feel comfortable about any errors on my servers. I want to correct whatever is causing this problem. Secondly, being totally green to this, I would like to confirm that the setup is optimized and we are taking advantage of all features available. Although there are 3 NIC's in this machine it appears that the initiator is only configured for the Broadcom BMC5708C NetXtreme II on our 10.90.1.#, the other 2 NICS are 1GB on the 192.168.0.#. Would additional targets improve performance? If someone who is experienced in configuring the Microsoft iScsi Initiator can help I would really appreciate it since, as I mentioned, everything I have come across has not been of any value at all.   • MMC crashes on Windows Server 2008 x64 - Exchange console, event viewer

    Help! I don't know what happened; this server has been very reliable but suddenly began having problems with a particular .NET 2.0 web site simply hanging - it wouldn't load at all. However, another ASP.NET site was still fine. Reinstalling the site didn't fix it, nor did deleting and re-creating the application within IIS. Trying the event viewer was met with a horrifying "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working". Some Googling led me to believe the .NET framework was the problem. I found a tool called the .NET cleanup tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx - which cleaned out .NET entirely. I reinstalled .NET 1.1 and 3.5 (which installed 2.0 and 3.0 as well). Using the .NET verification tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx - I believe these have all installed ok. However, my server is in worse shape now. The Exchange 2010 Management Console crashes with an MMC error and now my other (previously reliable) .NET web app now hangs on loading too. I thought I should use Computer Management to remove and re-add the application and web server roles but sure enough, MMC crashes. If anyone can help I will be extremely grateful. Thank you !

  • Why do I get a DegradedArray event with mdadm

    Hello Just so we're clear on what's happening: I bought 4 new sata 2 drives, with the intent of using them in a raid5 all drive are fully recognised by both my bios and my linux box (gentoo) I created a raid5 array, fiddled a bit with it to understand how it works, how to monitor ect At some point, this triggered a degradedarray event, even though the array is brand new. I tried to stopping the array and recreating a new array with the same drive but the new array starts degraded too. here is what I used to create it mdadm --create -l5 -n4 /dev/md/md0-r5 /dev/sdb /dev/sdd /dev/sde /dev/sdf here are the output from my /proc/mdstat and mdadm --detail --scan **mdstat** Personalities : [raid0] [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raid10] md127 : active raid5 sdf[4] sde[2] sdd[1] sdb[0] 4395415488 blocks level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [4/3] [UUU_] [>....................] recovery = 2.8% (41689732/1465138496) finish=890.3min speed=26645K/sec unused devices: <none> **detail** ARRAY /dev/md/md0-r5 metadata=0.90 spares=1 UUID=453e2833:81f22a74:64188b84:66721085 As such I have a couple questions: does a raid5 array always start in degraded mode at first ? why does sdf have the number 4 between bracket instead of 3, why does it see a spare disk and why is the 4th drive marked with _ instead of U ? (bad configuration ?) How can I recreate the array from scratch, do i have to format each drive on its own before recreating it ?   • Recommended RAM and disc space for Oracle 11g on Windows

    I need to provide the recommended amount of RAM and disc space (divided in two partitions) so the customer can create an appropriate virtual machine to run Oracle. All I could find in the documentation was a brief listing with minimum RAM and typical/advanced install types. The virtual machine will run latest Oracle Standard Edition One (11g release 2 so far) under Windows Server 2008 x64 and will host a reasonably low traffic web application. How much RAM and disc must I ask for in order to be safe? (Feel free to ask for further details if I've omitted something relevant.) Update: Rough estimations: Database size: 10 MB after installation Growth rate: +3MB per day on average Size of database 'active' data: (not sure of what this means, there's not actual archive so I guess all data is current) Amount of data written per second in peak hours: a few KB Number of client sessions: 3 or 4 at most Frequency and response size of most heavy requests: some reports make heavy table JOINS that need up to 20 seconds to complete but they won't return more than a few thousand rows with plain text. The app also handles BLOBs (typical size from 50KB to 200KB)

  • Comprehensive solution for managing patches, event viewing, change management, inventory, etc

    I'm looking for a solution that incorporates most or all of the following: Patch Management, Server event viewing/tracking, AD change management, ticketing and internal/external kb, remote access - ability to shadow user sessions or create new ones, imaging, and inventory. Our environments contains Windows Servers and ESXi Hosts (We're not completely virtual, but we're moving that direction). Various Cisco and Linksys switches and firewalls. This is a tall order, and I don't know if it can be done on a reasonable budget. Is this possible, or will we have to cobble together something to make it work for us?

I don't understand why this is evening happening and the only message I get via the terminal is "Cannot load image ..." then a bunch of random characters. My libraries are for sure working, but now I am not sure why the image is not loading. My image is in the same directory as with my .h and .cpp files. This is an irritating problem that keep coming up for some reason and is always a problem to fix it. I import my libraries via my own directory "locals" which contain many APIs, but I specifically get SFML, and done appropriately as I am able to open a window and many other stuff.

  • How to implement drag and drop in Flex Grid control?

    I have a simple Grid control with some buttons that I want to be able to move around. The code below does work, but it takes a lot of effort to actually do the drag&drop and it is not clear where the drop will happen. I have to move the mouse around a lot to get to a state where the drop is not rejected.
