  I am trying to add an onShow event to a Mobile Page Heading as per p. 326 oF the XPages Extension Library book. My code is as follows :- <xe:djxmHeading id="djxmHeading1" back="All Areas" moveTo="byArea"> <xe:this.label><![CDATA[#{javascript:param.get("Rep")}]]></xe:this.label> <xp:this.onShow> <![CDATA[#{javascript:sessionScope.put("RepName", param.get("Rep"))}]]> </xp:this.onShow> </xe:djxmHeading> which looks similar to the example in the book. But I'm getting the following error: Unknown property this.onShow. It is not defined on tag xe:djxmHeading. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

• compiling cocos3d 0.7.2 with Xcode5 error

  I tried to compile my cocos3d 0.7.2 project with xcode5. I am already stuck at the first error I get with the line “super.parent = aNode;” in CC3ParametricMeshNodes.m. this line is in the setParent function: -(void) setParent: (CC3Node*) aNode { super.parent = aNode; [self deriveNameFrom: aNode]; if ( !mesh ) self.box = self.parentBoundingBox; } and the error I get is: CC3ParametricMeshNodes.m:246:15: Assignment to readonly property I am sure that there will be other errors after this one is fixed. Is there any topic on common errors that occur while compiling cocos3d 0.7.2 with Xcode5? Thanks

  I am trying to add a custom activity designer for an activity that I have. The activity looks a little like: public class WaitForUserInputActvitiy : NativeActivity { public InArgument<UserInteractionProperty[]> UserInteraction { get; set; } } I am trying to put a designer on the activity to make it a bit nicer to set these values (so you don't end up typing VB in directly. My designer is based on mindscape property grid. I have an ObservableDictionary source that I want to get the values from and put them in to the InArgument. • Static Access To Multiple Instance Variable

  I have a singleton instance that is referenced throughout the project which works like a charm. It saves me the trouble from having to pass around an instance of the object to every little class in the project. However, now I need to manage multiple instances of the previous setup, which means that the singleton pattern breaks since each instance would need it's own singleton instance. What options are there to still maintain static access to the singleton? To be more specific, we have our game engine and several components and plugins reference the engine through a static property. Now our server needs to host multiple game instances each having their own engine, which means that on the server side the singleton pattern breaks. I'm trying to avoid all the classes having the engine in the constructor.

  Hi, I have report where report width is more than 2000px; it is working fine with pdf and excel output but when we export for word it is showing 550px; report only other part we are not able to see. We have one report which contains ... abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz when we export for excel or pdf it's working fine but when we export for word it's coming like abcdefg other parts are not visible. I am exporting word report with JRRtfExporter object. is there any property i have to set to see full report or any suggestions ? we are using jasper reports 1.2.0 Any Help Appreciated ...

• ASP MVC 2 : Custom display of a required form element based on ModelMetaData

  I have an MVC 2 application that utilises forms. The required fields within the form are set using attributes that update the model metadata. The form fields are created using the MVC HtmlHelper method : Html.EditorFor. This works fine so far as validation is concerned, but it seems that by default the required fields are not displayed to the user (for example by appending a * to the control). If I wanted to provide some custom means of displaying this fact to the user (lets immagine I want to change the background colour of the edit control for example), where is the best place to do it. Would I need to create a custom html helper to replace EditorFor? I tried but it seemed difficult to gain access to the metadata for the correct property. I already have a custom ModelMetaDataProvider so there is no problem adding it there if that is the correct place.

• Is there an "extended" UIHint attribute to apply CSS styles for DisplayFor - EditorFor templates?

  Intro: After reading Brad Wilson Metadata series and searching unsuccesfully on google, I was wondering: Question: Has any OS project / code been created that allows you to tag CSS styles in the Meta information, for example in my (buddy) Model, I want to be able to decorate a property with multiple CSS styles (a single style you can fake with UIHint, I want to set many possible styles - and be able to "cross-utilise") eg. public class MyModel { [DisplayCssHint("h5")] [DisplayCssHint("color:#777;")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Title{ get;set; } [DisplayCssHint(".normaltext")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Message {get;set;} } Thoughts: I know that this does not seem like a logical place to put styling information, however as it is metadata and is discriptive... besides it would be nice to do this while prototyping - (especially being able to apply class styles and extending it further - to generate .Less files would really be cool! more to the point I would hate to write it, if its already been done ;).   Hi, I ve got a problem in getting properties with ant from a properties file. With a simple target like this in my build.xml, i'd like to get at least two properties path1 and path2. I'd like to have a generic target to get this two properties.... in order to avoid modifying the build.xml (just adding a new prop) Any suggestions? • How To Make NHibernate Automatically change an "Updated" column

  I am applying NHibernate to an existing project, where tables and columns are already defined and fixed. The database is MS-SQL-2008. NHibernate 2.1.2 Many tables have a column of type timestamp named "ReplicationID", and also a column of type datetime named "UpdatedDT". I understand I might be able to use the element of the mapping file to describe the "ReplicationID" column which will allow NHibernate to manage that column. Is it possible to make NHibernate automatically update the UpdatedDT column when the row is updated? I suppose I could try mapping the UpdatedDT property to be of type timestamp, but that have other side effects.

  Consider an ASP.NET MVC application using the Salt parameter in the [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] directive. The scenario is such that the app will be used by many customers. It's not terribly desirable to have the Salt known at compile time. The current strategy is to locate the Salt value in the web.config. [ValidateAntiForgeryToken(Salt = Config.AppSalt)] //Config.AppSalt is a static property that reads the web.config. This leads to a compile-time exception suggesting that the Salt must be a const at compile time. An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type How can I modify the application to allow for a runtime loading of the Salt so that the app doesn't have to be re-salted and recompiled for each customer? • GWT application throws an exception when run on Google Chrome with compiler output style set to 'OBF

  I'd like to know if you guys have faced the same problem I'm facing, and how you are dealing with it. Sometimes, a small and harmless change in a Java class ensues strange errors at runtime. These errors only happen if BOTH conditions below are true: 2) the application is run on Google Chrome, and 1) the GWT JavaScript compiler output style is set to 'OBF'. So, running the application on Firefox or IE always works. Running with the output style set to 'pretty' or 'detailed' always works, even on Google Chrome. Here's an example of error message that I got: "((TypeError): Property 'top' of object [object DOMWindow] is not a function stack" And here's what I have: - GWT 1.5.3 - GXT 1.2.4 - Google Chrome 4 and 5 - Windows XP In order to get rid of this Heisenbug, I have to either deploy my application without obfuscation or endure a time-consuming trial-and-error process in which I re-implement the change in slightly different ways and re-run the application, until the GWT compiler is happy with my code. Would you have a better idea on how to avoid this?

• How not to include a Thumb in ListBoxItem selection

  I have a collection of items. I am presenting the items in a WPF ListBox using DataTemplate. Part of the DataTemplate is a Thumb which is used for resizing and visually separating between items. The Thumb.Visibility is binded to a property of the item (for example, the last item doesn’t have a visible Thumb). The problem is that selecting an item in the ListBox selects the Thumb as well, as it is part of the ListBoxItem. The desired behavior is to select only the data without the Thumb. How is it possible to get this behavior? I don’t want to add items by code the ListBox or to handle the visibility of the Thumb manually. Currently I get all this from the DataTemplate.

  I have an MVC application. The model has a property that is a struct NSSize. It is writable like this: - (void)setSize:(NSSize)aSize; The view sets this NSSize using key-value-coding. However, you can not key-value-code a struct, so I wrapped it in an NSValue-object like this: [theView setValue:[NSValue valueWithSize:mySize] forKey:@"theModel.size"]; To my understanding, this should not work since the accessor expects a struct and not an NSValue. But it works perfectly. Magically. How is this possible?

• Is there a practical alternative to struct inheritance? (C#)

  I am writing code that will populate the Margin, Padding and BorderThickness properties of classes in the System.Windows.Documents namespace. Each of these properties accepts a value in the form of a System.Windows.Thickness, which is a struct. However, I wish to associate some additional data with each of these property assignments, which may subsequently be retrieved by my code. If Thickness were a class, I would inherit from it and define properties in the subclass to store my additional data items. But since it is a struct, inheritance is not possible. Is there any practical way to achieve this, while maintaining type-compatibility with the properties I am populating? Thanks for your ideas, Tim

  Lets simplify. Lets say I have this class: class T { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } public int height{ get; set; } ... } and I have a DataGridView's DataSource bound to a BindingList <T>, with N columns, each one bound to each property. I need to: Allow the user to enter non validating ages, heights, etc (for instance "aaa") Color the cells with non validating values (red background) Retain the non validating values displayed until the form is closed (I don't want to lose the values entered until the form is closed, so the user has the option to correct the bad cells anytime he wants BEFORE closing the form) Keep the last correct values entered for each cell with non validating values entered. When the form is closed, ditch the non validating values and keep the last correct values entered. Is there any easy way to do this?

• How do you implement caching in Linq to SQL?

  We've just started using LINQ to SQL at work for our DAL & we haven't really come up with a standard for out caching model. Previously we had being using a base 'DAL' class that implemented a cache manager property that all our DAL classes inherited from, but now we don't have that. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a 'standard' approach to caching LINQ to SQL results? We're working in a web environment (IIS) if that makes a difference. I know this may well end up being a subjective question, but I still think the info would be valuable. EDIT: To clarify, I'm not talking about caching an individual result, I'm after more of an architecture solution, as in how do you set up caching so that all your link methods use the same caching architecture.

  I'm getting this error message "The Maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quotea may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader" In the one of my orchestrations that consumes a wcf webservice (stacktrace indicates the receive shape is where the issue is), It is likely that the response is very large. looking at some of the other questions with this error message the solution is to change a WCF bindings setting in the configuration file. However I can't find these configuration settings when I'm using biztalk. They don't seem to be generated anywhere, should I be trying to add them to BTSNTSVc.exe.config. Any suggestions welcome.

  I am using a telerik radgrid so there are around 5 columns each column edittemplate contains a control along with a required field validator and also a property called AllowMultiRowEdit is set to true so i am able to multiple rows in edit mode. If any of the values are cleared the for multiple rows I want only those to be validated on update of that particular row. So i implemented the Grids item data bound event find each and every validator along with the update button and set a unique validation group. The above implementation most times but fails at some time. Is there any other way of going about this ?

• Tool(s) to lower the friction of programming against Interfaces in Visual Studio C#?

  Hi I am a relatively new user of Visual Studio and I am trying "program against interfaces". I can see that when I create a class I can "Extract Interface" from the Refactor menu but you seem to only get one shot at this. ie. If I add a read only property FullName to my Customer class I would like to be able to right click and update the interface. At the moment I can only create a new interface from the Refactor menu. I want to update the interface I have already created not create new one. So the kind of tool I would be looking for would display check boxes for all valid members of the class with those already in the interface checked. It would also be handy to be able to to create the initial interface file in a different project (in the same solution), and for the tool to keep track of this. Does such a tool / add in / menu item exist (other than Ctrl C / V)? Thanks, John

  In a website, I need to integrate membership and authentication. So I want to use the functionality of ASP.NET Membership, but I have other custom stuff, that a "user" has to do. So I am sitting here with my pencil and paper, drawing lines for my domain model... And how can I best utilize the ASP.Net membership, but extend it to fill my needs? Should I create a class that inherits from a MembershipUser and extend it with my own properties and methods (and save this in a seperate table). Or should I let the MembershipUser be a property on my custom User/Client object? What would be a good solid way to do this?
