  • Google Ajax search API

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, I'm wondering, is it possible to receive google results over their own ajax API in a way like, 100 results per page? Without a visible search field, I'd like to get the results in the background to create a progression for some search phrases. My basic question is, what are the restrictions of the google search api ? Kind Regards --Andy

Hi, the simple little module titled 'on the web' for drupal shows social network links. It links to some images on the directory. on my localhost install they are showing but in the remote install the img tags aren't even appearing. I looked in the module's files and the path isn't hard-coded or anything so it's not to do with that. any ideas? the module is here: http://drupalmodules.com/module/on-the-web cheers andy

  • Perl Threads with binmode

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, this call my $th = threads->create(\&print, "Hello thread World!\n"); $th->join(); works fine. But as soon as I add binmode(STDOUT, ":encoding(ISO-8859-1)"); to my script file, I get an error like "segmentation fault", "access denied". What is wrong to define an encoding type when trying to call a perl thread? Kind Regards --Andy

  • Using ASP.NET Automatically login to an external website and redirect

    - by DoodleWalker
Hello, We have a series of products with built in web servers each of which has a login page, a customer wants to create a web portal in which they log into once, from there they can simply click on any of the devices (external websites) and it will automatically login to that site and redirect them to the page after the login screen. The portal is using ASP.NET MVC, the external devices are Windows CE based units running embedded web servers. Can find a lot on scraping, but not much on redirection after the event. Many Thanks Andy

  • Change Browser settings by script

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, Afaik, you can change/manipulate browser settings in Mozilla/Netscape browsers. For Instance "netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege('someprivilege');" Of course the user gets informed about that and needs to verify the action. My question is, do other browser have similar functionality? IE, Safari/Chrome ? Kind Regards --Andy

  • iphone, get the object count without performing a fetch?

    - by Andrew
Hi, I seem to recall that it's possible to return the resulting object count from an NSPredicate in CoreData without actually performing a fetch, but I can't find any reference to this. Can someone confirm that I wasn't dreaming (sad dream to have!), and would this be safe to do in another thread? Thanks Andy

  • JTwitter OAuth with callback authorisation

    - by RenegadeAndy
Hey guys. I am writing an App using JTwitter however I need to authenticate in order to not have the 150 requests per minute on the public api. Jtwitter seems to support OAuth however I have some questions. My app will be running behind a company firewall - so the URL wont be accessible outside of the company's network - will callback authorisation work, and does anybody have an example of using callback authorisation using OAuth in JTwitter - because I cannot work it out in order to try it. Cheers, Andy

  • Ajax cross domain call

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, I know about ajax cross-domain policy. So I can't just call "http://www.google.com" over a ajax HTTP request and display the results somewhere on my site. I tried it with dataType "jsonp", that actually would work, but I get a syntax error (obviously because the received data is not json formated) Is there any other possiblity to receive/display data from a foreign domain ? iFrames follow the same policy? Kind Regards --Andy

  • An idea for something similar to delicious bookmarking

    - by Andrew Welch
Hi, This is an idea more than a question, but I thought it would be the right community. I really like mindmapping as a way to organise information and I think it would be really cool to have a piece of software that allowed you to organise bookmarks into a dynamic mind map. If I get time I would start to create such a thing. Any thoughts or does it already exist? Thanks Andy

  • doctype syntax error

    - by Andrew Welch
Do you see any problem with this: I'm in ASP.net and I'm using pikachoose jquery slideshow. It works fine in IE and was working in Firefox. However, somehow it's now stopped working in firefox and firebug is giving the doctype line above out as a syntax error and $ is not defined for the jquery script? Any ideas Thanks Andy

  • strip all <img> tags within a div

    - by Andrew Welch
Hi, I have a jcycle plugin on a number of divs which are testimonials. Basically I don't want to show the tag in the testimonial viewed in a block on the front page but rather I do want it to show on another page. So I want to add some jquery or another method that strips the img tags for the front page display. Any ideas how to do this? Thanks Andy

  • How to redirect multiple folders to the reflecting subdomain with .htaccess

    - by helmi
Hi, i tried redirecting some folders to the subdomains with the same names as the folders. I tried this way but it didn't work: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(test1|test2)(.*?)$ http://$1.domain.com$2 [R=301,L] I guess the problem is that the alternation of folders doesn't return a result that i can get into $1, right? I'm not a PCRE expert so andy help would be appreciated.
