  • How to pass a Context when using acts_as_taggable_on for assigning tags

    I am using acts_as_taggable_on for assigning 'fixed' categories as well as free' tags to a Company model. My question is how I can pass the correct tag Context for the two different kinds of tags in the form view. For instance, I would like the user to click all the "sector" categories that apply to a company, and then be freely allowed to add additional tags. At this point, the only way I have gotten this to work is through the company model (inspired by this question): # models/company.rb class Company ... acts_as_taggable_on :sectors, :tags has_many :sector_tags, :through => :taggings, :source => :tag, has_many :taggings, :as => :taggable, :include => :tag, :class_name => "ActsAsTaggableOn::Tagging", :conditions => { :taggable_type => "Company", :context => "sectors" } ... end in the form (using the simple_form gem) I have... # views/companies/_form.html.haml = simple_form_for @company do |f| = f.input :name = f.association :sector_tags, :as => :check_boxes, :hint => "Please click all that apply" = f.input :tag_list But this obviously causes the two tag types ("sectors" and "tags") to be of the same "sectors" context which is not what I want. Can anyone hint at how I can pass the relevant Context ("sectors") in the form where the user assigns the sector tags? Or maybe I can pass it in the "has_many :sector_tags ..." line in the Company model? A related question is if this is a good way to do it at all? Would I be better off just using a Category model for assigning sector tags through a joint model? Thanks!

    When one selects a Tag on stackoverflow, it is added to the end of the Url. Add a second Tag and it is add to the end of the Url after the first Tag, with a '+' delimiter. For example, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/ruby-on-rails+best-practices. How is this implemented? Is this a routing enhancement or some logic contained in the TagsController? Finally, how does one 'extract' these Tags for filtering (assuming that they are not in the params[] array)?

  • Categories of tags

    I'm starting a pro bono project that is the web interface to the world's largest collection of lute music and it's a challenging collection from several points of view. The pieces are largely from 1400 to 1600, but they range from the mid-1200's to present day. Needless to say, there is tremendous variability in how the pieces are categorized and who they are attributed to. It is obvious that any sort of rigid, DB-enforced hierarchy isn't going to work with this collection, so my thoughts turn to tags. But not all tags are the same. I'll have tags that represent a person/role (composer, translator, entabulator, etc.), tags that represent the instrument(s) the piece in written for, and tags that represent how the piece has been classified by any one of half a dozen different classification systems used over the centuries. We will be using a semi-controlled tag vocabulary to prevent runaway tag proliferation (e.g. del.icio.us), but I want to treat the tags as belonging to different groups. People tags should not be offered when the editor is doing instrument tagging, etc. Has anyone done something like this? I have several ways I can think of to do it, but if there is an existing system that is well-done it would save me time implementing/debugging.   • TFS Folders - Getting them to work like Subversion "Trunk/Tags/Branches"

    I recently started using Team Foundation Server, and am having some trouble getting it to work the way I want it to. I've used Subversion for a couple years now, and love the way it works. I always set up three folders under each project, Trunk, Tags, and Branches. When I'm working on a project, all my code lives under a folder called "C:\dev\projectname". This "projectname" folder can be made to point to either trunk, or any of the branches or tags using Subversion (with the switch command). Now that I'm using TFS (my client's system), I'd like things to work the same way. I created a "Trunk" folder with my project in it, and mapped "Project/Trunk/Website" to "c:\dev\Website". Now, I want to make a release under the "tags" folder (located in "Project/Tags/Version 1.0/Website", and TFS is giving me the following error when I execute the branch command: "No appropriate mapping exists for $Project/tags/Version 1.0/Website" From what I can find on the internet, TFS expects you to have a mapping to your hard drive at the root of the project (the "Project" folder in my case), and then have all the source code that lives in trunk, tags and branches all pulled down to your hard drive. This sucks because it requires way too much stuff on your hard drive, and even worse, when you are working in a solution in Visual Studio, you won't be able to pull down "Version 2.0" and have all your project references to other projects work, because they'll all be pointing to "trunk" folders under the main folder, not just the main folder itself. What I want to do is have the root "Project/Website" folder on my hard drive, and be able to have it point to (mapped to) either tags, branches, or trunk, depending on what i'm doing, without having to screw around with fixing Visual Studio project references. Ideas?

    I want to sanitize html tags from my wysiwyg. I want to replace certain tags with another. This almost works only the replaceWith() is also removing the content from within the tags. I dont want to do this. I just want to replace the tags. Here is what I have so far.     I have a table of tags ID tag --- ------ 1 tagt 2 tagb 3 tagz 4 tagn In my items table, I'm using those tags in serialized format, comma delimited ID field1 tags ---- ------ ----- 1 value1 tagt,tagb 2 value2 tagb 3 value3 tagb,tagn 4 value4 When I need to find items that have this tag, I plan to deserialize the tags. But I'm not actually sure how to do it, and if it's better to have a third table for associations instead between the tags and the items.

  • Custom UIViewController is not responsive to device rotation

    I have a custom UIViewController, which is the only subView of UIView. The UIViewController contains delegate function: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } This function is called once when the application starts and is never called again when the device is rotated. I also notice that the willRotateToInterfaceOrientation function is never called. I pretty much commented out all the content in the UIViewController but it is still not responding to device rotation.

Is it possible to use Facebook Connect (or any other means of FB integration) in a native iPhone app without resorting to the built in login dialog (which looks awful)? Something where I could create my own custom login screen asking for the facebook login username and password and then using the fbconnect native methods to validate that info and retrieve a valid session?

    When creating a custom UITableViewCell I notice that it looks as expected in 'plain' style but that the corners of the cells are not rounded if the table view is displayed in 'grouped' style: i.e. the corners are square. I have searched but cannot find any real explanation of why this happens and, more importantly, how to remedy this effect.

  • Custom Application Page does not recognize tagPrefix defined in custom web.config

    I have a custom application page integrated in Centeral Administration. My application pages are placed in a subfolder in Template\Admin folder. I placed my own web.config in my subfolder and added tagPrefixes in the control section. However when I open my application page ASP.NET throws the exception that the tag SharePoint:InputFormTextBox was not recognized. What am I doing wrong? Or it doesn't work this way? What can i do to achieve this?

  • Can a custom WPF control implement the IsDefault property

    I have a custom button control that does not derive from Button. Is it possible for me to implement the equivalent of IsDefault so that the command associated with my control will be invoked. I was hoping that this was an attached property that I could add to any control but as far as I can tell it doesn't seem to be. Am I out of luck if my control does not derive from Button or is there at least a reasonable workaround?
