The home page is in /app/views/static_pages/home.html.erb. I decided to copy an index.html file in the public folder to see if it would display. It displayed as I had hoped.. Is there a way to get Passenger to find my assets without me having to rewrite my application? Any help would be appreciated. Update 6/23/2012 10:00 am CDT GMT-6 I corrected the problems with my file and have successfully executed the rake assets:precompile command. I still get the index page as before. I have made no other changes. I did a passenger-status command and it is still loaded. Restarting Apache did nothing.

  • Creating a fallback error page for nginx when root directory does not exist

    I have set up an any-domain config on my nginx server - to reduce the amount of work needed when I open a new site/domain. How can I create a fallback error page that will catch these failed requests?

I couldn't just install it, since I don't have root privileges, but I was able to extract the package file.   • ORM Persistence by Reachability violates Aggregate Root Boundaries?

    Most common ORMs implement persistence by reachability, either as the default object graph change tracking mechanism or an optional. Persistence by reachability means the ORM will check the aggregate roots object graph and determines wether any objects are (also indirectly) reachable that are not stored inside it's identity map (Linq2Sql) or don't have their identity column set (NHibernate). In NHibernate this corresponds to cascade="save-update", for Linq2Sql it is the only supported mechanism. They do both, however only implement it for the "add" side of things, objects removed from the aggregate roots graph must be marked for deletion explicitly. In a DDD context one would use a Repository per Aggregate Root. Objects inside an Aggregate Root may only hold references to other Aggregate Roots. Due to persistence by reachability it is possible this other root will be inserted in the database event though it's corresponding repository wasn't invoked at all! Consider the following two Aggregate Roots: Contract and Order. Request is part of the Contract Aggregate. The object graph looks like Contract->Request->Order. Each time a Contractor makes a request, a corresponding order is created. As this involves two different Aggregate Roots, this operation is encapsulated by a Service. //Unit Of Work begins Request r = ...; Contract c = ContractRepository.FindSingleByKey(1); Order o = OrderForRequest(r); // creates a new order aggregate r.Order = o; // associates the aggregates c.Request.Add(r); ContractRepository.SaveOrUpdate(c); // OrderAggregate is reachable and will be inserted Since this Operation happens in a Service, I could still invoke the OrderRepository manually, however I wouldn't be forced to!.   • Access/Download server files, not in site root, with PHP

    Usually I save documents (images, mpegs, excel, word docs, etc...) for my friends or family on my website's root, inside a directory called /files/ or something similar. Nothing too uncommon. But, I have been playing with user session control, and allowing users to upload files to the dedicated /files/ directory. (the file names are saved in a db, with that user's ID) But, that means other people could try to guess and locate other people's files. I do randomize the file names, upon upload. And I stop the apache from displaying the /files/ directory content. However, I'd like to start saving the files outside of the website's root. This way it can't be accessible via the browser. I don't have any code to show, but I didn't want to even start on this endeavor if it's not able to be accomplished. I did find this snippet that shows how to display an image, from outside your website root: $file = $_GET['file']; $fileDir = '/path/to/files/'; if (file_exists($fileDir . $file)) { // Note: You should probably do some more checks // on the filetype, size, etc. $contents = file_get_contents($fileDir . $file); // Note: You should probably implement some kind // of check on filetype header('Content-type: image/jpeg'); echo $contents; } ?     I have a t:inputFileUpload inside the form, in the html of the display page the id of this component is form:inputFile but when I tried to get the component from the view root using "form:inputFile" the return is null, but when the "form:" is removed the return is the component. The component don't set the value in my managed bean, someone have this problem?   • Desperate help using PHP's $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] on a web server?

    I've spent the past few months building a website on localhost. Throughout the site, instead of using relative paths, I used $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] to access the root of my server so I could reference files from there. However, I just decided to upload my site to 000webhost. As I soon found out, and for those of you who use them, you are probably aware, that their server root is different than your actual directory in which you upload your files. I believe it's virtual hosting... anyway, my $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] now throws errors along the lines of this on the site: Warning: include_once() [function.include-once]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/apache/htdocs/mypath) is not within the allowed path(s) Every other site I looked at said that you should just replace $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] with the home directory provided to you by 000webhost. However, if I want to change hosting services in the future, I'm screwed. Is there any way to use $_SERVER to access a set virtual directory or use htaccess or something to make my code work? I tried using DocumentRoot in a htaccess file in my root directory, but it threw a 404 error when trying to access the page. I'm in desperate need... can anyone help me?

The problem is that I have a webservice that returns a response with one type of root element on success (say <Response), and on a complete failure, returns a document with a different root element (say, <Exception). So, basically, two completely different documents: <Response......</Response OR <Exception....</Exception Is it possible to describe these two different documents with one schema document? It's like I want a choice as the first element under the schema element -- but that isn't valid syntax. I've tried a couple of variants that parse as valid xsd, but don't validate the documents.   • WPF, TreeView bug, can't select root item after item removed from treeview

    I have a very weird bug in a three level deep TreeView. It is intermittent and I can't find how to reproduce it consistently. After programmatically removing, adding then removing some third level items, when I click on the root item it isn't selected. It can still expand/collapse but can't be selected with a mouse click and it doesn't fire ItemSelectionChange event. You can click to select a second level or third level items and after that you're finally able to select the root item. I've tried to set IsSelected = false for all items after removing and tried to do a nice clean-up when removing items but it doesn't help. Did anybody run into that bug? Do you have any suggestions to remove this bug?

  • svn merge - moved repository to a different server, and now getting 'has different repository root'

    This is kind of similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1601021/subversion-merge-has-different-repository-root-than - but appears to be a very different cause (especially as the answer for that question didn't resolve my problem). A while back, we swapped out the server where our SVN repositories are located - but we've been using an alias so that the old server name points to the new server. I've been getting in the habit where I will use the new server name wherever I checkout new working copies - but we having made changes to most of the current working copies as they are live websites. Until now, this hasn't been a problem - except that this morning I merged in some changes from my development branch to a working copy I have of the release version and I got the message "file has different repository root" and the merge stops dead. I know this is because I'm using the new server name when the development branch was updated via the old server name - but is there a simple way to fix this? Or if not a simple way - is there a well-documented way to fix this?

  • Keeping the DI-container usage in the composition root in Silverlight and MVVM

    It's not quite clear to me how I can design so I keep the reference to the DI-container in the composition root for a Silverlight + MVVM application. I have the following simple usage scenario: there's a main view (perhaps a list of items) and an action to open an edit view for one single item. So the main view has to create and show the edit view when the user takes the action (e.g. clicks some button). For this I have the following code: public interface IView { IViewModel ViewModel {get; set;} } Then, for each view that I need to be able to create I have an abstract factory, like so public interface ISomeViewFactory { IView CreateView(); } This factory is then declared a dependency of the "parent" view model, like so: public class SomeParentViewModel { public SomeParentViewModel(ISomeViewFactory viewFactory) { // store it } private void OnSomeUserAction() { IView view = viewFactory.CreateView(); dialogService.ShowDialog(view); } } So all is well until here, no DI-container in sight :). Now comes the implementation of ISomeViewFactory: public class SomeViewFactory : ISomeViewFactory { public IView CreateView() { IView view = new SomeView(); view.ViewModel = ???? } } The "????" part is my problem, because the view model for the view needs to be resolved from the DI-container so it gets its dependencies injected. What I don't know is how I can do this without having a dependency to the DI-container anywhere except the composition root. One possible solution would be to have either a dependency on the view model that gets injected into the factory, like so: public class SomeViewFactory : ISomeViewFactory { public SomeViewFactory(ISomeViewModel viewModel) { // store it } public IView CreateView() { IView view = new SomeView(); view.ViewModel = viewModel; } } While this works, it has the problem that since the whole object graph is wired up "statically" (i.e. the "parent" view model will get an instance of SomeViewFactory, which will get an instance of SomeViewModel, and these will live as long as the "parent" view model lives), the injected view model implementation is stateful and if the user opens the child view twice, the second time the view model will be the same instance and have the state from before. I guess I could work around this with an "Initialize" method or something similar, but it doesn't smell quite right. Another solution might be to wrap the DI-container and have the factories depend on the wrapper, but it'd still be a DI-container "in disguise" there :) Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated. Also, please forgive any mistakes or rule-breaking, since this is my first post on stackoverflow :) Thanks! ps: my current solution is that the factories know about the DI-container, and it's only them and the composition root that have this dependency.

  • Linq to sql Error "Data at the root level is invalid " for nullable xml column

    I have Created a table like CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tab1]( [Id] [int] NOT NULL, [Name] [varchar](100) NOT NULL, [Meta] [xml] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_tab1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [Id] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY] ) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY] When I am doing linq to sql query to fetch a data it throw an error "data at the root level is invalid linq". In further investigation I come to know that the meta column is null in that case. In real it is nullable Do I have to remove the nullable and set some blank root node as default or there is some another way to get rid of the error. My linq Query which throws error var obj1= (from obj in dbContext.tab1s where obj.id== 123 select obj).FirstOrDefault<Tab1>();

  • White bar at the bottom of root view!

    Hi, I have two view controllers in the app. When the app starts, the layout of the root view controller's view is just fine. When a button is clicked, the view controller switches to the other one - which shows fine too. However, when the view is switched back to the root view, the contents are shifted UP by about 20 pixels, leaving a white bar at the bottom! - and it was not there when the app had started. Has anyone seen this? Any idea what's going on there? Thanks, Sam.

The xml: Hmm, can't seem to post the xml... It is well-formed and valid, with a single root node and all tags closed. Thanks for any hints...

But, today I do not see this option. More over, I do not think I have a solution file, and I think that has something to do with it. I'm aware there are web application projects and web site model, and web site model is basically just a "directory". But can web site model, also, have a solution file for this setting or not a solution file? What determines that? I am interested in using this method on on a web site, i.e directory only model.
