  • Drupal node reference

    I am using two content types - test_parent & test_child In test_child there are two fields, both of type datetime And in test_parent there are two fields, week_no & 7 node references I am using node_save to save a new node. After saving a node of parent type, and then saving the node of child type, i want to update the node it into the parent type. I have completed creation of both nodes from code, and also i am able to update nid in parent type from code. The problem is, the change in db is getting reflected in db but not on drupal node view. Even if i edit the node from drupal, it's showing -none- selected in node reference. Please help.

  • Custompage Module-Issue with CSS (Drupal-6.x)

    I'm new to Drupal and have recently installed the custompage module. I received a lot of errors until I placed "custom.tpl.php" in the custompage module folder. I am able to navigate to the custom page from the primary links. But, the CSS I created for that specific page is not showing up. I'm thinking it's because "custom.tpl.php" is located in the module folder of Drupal Core and my CSS is in the theme folder. But I'm not sure how to fix the problem. I tried to copy the "custom.tpl.php" in my themes folder, but then I receive a lot of errors. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Drupal OAuth Service Module

    I am trying to do some research into potentially setting up an existing Drupal site with user accounts/login page to also be an OAuth service provider, basically authenticating users to make calls with a web service. I am looking for a Drupal module which will give this functionality. Most of what I run into are OAuth consumer modules, which is not what I want in this case. I've found a few modules which I think might do this for me, but the module descriptions are generally pretty vague and don't have much of a user base which doesn't inspire much confidence. Has anyone else done this before? What are the best modules available for doing this?

  • Drupal removing javascript from Full HTML link

    I am new to Drupal and am trying to create a node (let's call it child) that will only really be accessed when clicked on from another node (we'll call it parent). When closing the child window, I want to parent window to refresh. Outside of Drupal, that's easy: <a onclick="window.close(); window.opener.location.reload();" href="#">Click to close this window</a> However, when I type this into the body of a node using Full HTML, it still strips the onclick text from my post. How can I include javascript in the body of a node like this? Is there a special module I need. Thanks!

  • Working with version control on a Drupal/CMS project

    I was wondering how teams that develop sites using Drupal (or any other CMS) integrate version control, subversion, git or similar, into their workflow. You'd obviously want your custom code and theme files under version control but when you use a CMS such as Drupal a lot of the work consists of configuring modules and settings all of which is stored in the database. So when you are a team of developers, how do you collaborate on a project like this? Dumping the database into a file and putting that file under version control might work I guess, but when the site is live the client is constantly adding content which makes syncing a bit problematic. I'd love to know how others are doing this.

  • Drupal vs FatWire - Any thoughts?

    Hi folks, a company I am working for is considering the usage of a CMS, apparently two of the suggested CMSs are Drupal and FatWire. FatWire is proprietary and quite expensive, therefore it seems that there is a not so big community build around the product. Functionality seems to be extensive, even though a few design choices seem counter-intuitive and long-winded. Drupal instead is open source and has an big community backing the product. There are plenty of books around and usage seems more intuitive. Functionality wise I am unsure on how they compare. The main features that the company's team seem to like are team workflow features and revision control (present in FatWire, even though the implementation seems quite limited). Hopefully some of you guys have been faced with these two products before, and might have a few suggestions up their sleeve. Help would be much appreciated!

  • Drupal Error After Logging In

    Hello everyone. I'm kinda new to using drupal and i'm just wondering why I kind of get this error on my new site. See i have this website under WampServer running drupal6-16. Everytime I log in with my pre-created admin account 'admin01' pass: 'admin01' i get redirected to the WampServer localhost which appears to be unusual since the header does not have the WampServer logo. I already tried creating a new drupal website with the same database and the same thing happens. Also, I tried creating another website with a new database but I copied the other website's theme and other contents and the same thing happens. Help me please. I am losing my grip on this. :( Note: I have the same website running on one PC and i am just trying to run it on another PC by copying all its contents. The original copy is working perfectly but I can't seem to get the hook on my new copies to work on other PCs.

    I'm running into problems trying to pass absolute URIs as parameters with clean URLs enabled. I've got hook_menu() set up like this: function mymodule_menu() { return array( 'page/%' = array( 'title' = 'DBpedia Display Test', 'page callback' = 'mymodule_dbpedia_display', 'page arguments' = array(1), ), ); } and in the page callback: function mymodule_dbpedia_display($uri) { // Make an HTTP request for this URI // and then render some things return $output; } What I'm hoping to do is somehow pass full URIs (e.g. "http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee") to my page callback. I've tried a few things and nothing's worked so far... http://mysite.com/page/http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Completely breaks Drupal's rewriting http://mysite.com/page/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Gives a 404 http://mysite.com/page/http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee Returns just "http:", which makes sense I could probably use $_GET to pull out the whole query string, but I guess I'm hoping for a more 'Drupal' solution. Any suggestions?

    I'm going to be moving my website to a CMS in the coming months I'd I need some help on choosing an appropriate CMS. Many of the websites I've seen tend to say "use Drupal, hands down". However, my website truly doesn't have a need for commenting or community features. Its pages will need to be modified occasionally, but not extensively. My website will also consist of many programs, each with their own sub-pages and menus. There are probably 25 people that will need access to the content on my website and will need the ability to update it. I do like the idea of being able to tag and categorize the content, and the modular aspect of Drupal but is it really right for my website? If not, which CMS may fit my needs better?

    I'm trying to work on my new website Drupal7 while I'm keeping in the hosting my old static website. So I have: index.html (static website. I want to keep for my users) index.php (drupal new installation) Is there a way to set in drupal this kind of situation? The problem, as you problably can see at this point, is that every time I'm going to a different section I'm being redirected to the .html homepage. I mean for example the admin section is: www.mydomain.com/?q=admin instead of www.mydomain.com/index.php?q=admin What's the easiest way to keep the html static web for my current users while I'm developing my drupal7 website in the "background"?

    My aim is to create a website where I can add some test content along with pictures. Then, what exactly I need is an easy way to add those into the site. Say, I have designed (in photoshop) a certain theme for this purpose, and now I am wondering if I could use drupal for the matter? Or should I create a website from scratch? Which route is the easiest? Apply the theme to the drupal? I've just never used no CMS, that's why I ask.

  • Is it okay to just add a page or two PHP page to add some functionality to a Drupal site?

    I'm not familiar with Drupal, really. I can dig around the admin interface and navigate the directories and find the files that I need to just fine as well. What I'm really not familiar with is adding modules or extending modules. The site currently takes an order and sets up recurring payments through Ubercart and uses Authorize.net as a gateway. Right now, when a payment fails, a single e-mail gets sent out to the admin. We'd like to extend it to send an e-mail to the user and let them change their payment information through another page on the site. Authorize has a service called Silent Post URL that basically just posts a carbon copy in XML to whatever URL you give it. We'd like to accept that XML, deserialize it, parse the data, send a notice to the user and give them the page for updating their information. So, I guess it'll be two PHP pages. One for the XML API call from Authorize.net, and then one for the page for the users' to update their payment information. Could I just create two simple pages each handling their own tasks, or should I check out properly extending a module? If it's appropriate for me to write up the pages and not have to hook them into the module, what would be the best way to handle setting up what needs to get done? (The most experience I've had with extending a PHP site has been hacking away at someone else' poorly constructed, custom framework, so if anyone has any good resources perhaps on PHP best practices that they could share through a PM or a comment, I'd appreciate It) (Also, I'm still getting the hang of Stack Exchange, so if this isn't appropriate please let me know.   • How to get full query string parameters not UrlDecoded

    Introduction While developing Developer IT’s website, we came across a problem when the user search keywords containing special character like the plus ‘+’ char. We found it while looking for C++ in our search engine. The request parameter output in ASP.NET was “c “. I found it strange that it removed the ‘++’ and replaced it with a space… Analysis After a bit of Googling and Reflection, it turns out that ASP.NET calls UrlDecode on each parameters retreived by the Request(“item”) method. The Request.Params property is affected by this two since it mashes all QueryString, Forms and other collections into a single one. Workaround Finally, I solve the puzzle usign the Request.RawUrl property and parsing it with the same RegEx I use in my url re-writter. The RawUrl not affected by anything.     Hi folks, it’s been quite calm at Developer IT’s this summer since we were all involved in other projects, but we are slowly comming back. In this post, we will present a simple way of tracking files download with Google Analytics with the help of jQuery. We work for a client that offers a lot of pdf files to download on their web site and wanted to know which one are the most popular. They use Google Analytics for a long time now and we did not want to have a second interface in order to present those stats to our client. So usign IIS logs was not a idea to consider. Since Google already offers us a splendid web interface and a powerful API, we deceided to hook up simple javascript code into the jQuery click event to notify Analytics that a pdf has been requested.   • Required Skill Sets Of A Software Architect

    The question has been asked as to what is the required skill sets of a software architect. The answer to this is that it truly depends. When I state that it depend, it depends on the organization, industry, and skill sets available on the open market and internally within a company. With open ended skill sets even Napoleon Dynamite could be an architect. Napoleon Dynamite’s Skills Pedro: Have you asked anybody yet? Napoleon Dynamite: No, but who would? I don't even have any good skills. Pedro: What do you mean? Napoleon Dynamite: You know, like nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills. Pedro: Aren't you pretty good at drawing, like animals and warriors and stuff? This example might be a little off base but it does illustrate a point. What are the real required skills of a software architect? In my opinion, an architect needs to demonstrate the knowledge of the following three main skill set categories so that they are successful. General Skill Sets of an Architect Basic Engineering Skills Organizational  Skills Interpersonal Skills Basic Engineering Skills are a very large part of what a software architect deal with on a daily bases when designing or updating systems. Think about it, how good would a lead mechanic be if they did not know how to fix or repair cars? They would not be, and that is my point that architects need to have at least some basic skills regarding engineering. The skills listed below are generic in nature because they change from job to job, so in this discussion I am trying to focus more on generalities so that anyone can apply this information to their individual situation. Common Basic Engineering Skills Data Modeling Code Creation Configuration Testing Deployment/Publishing System and Environment Knowledge Organizational Skills If an Architect works for or with an origination then they will need strong organization skills to survive. An architect is no use to a project if the project is missed managed. Additionally, budgets and timelines can really affect a company and their products when established deadlines are repeated not meet. By not meeting these timelines a company is forced to cancel the project and waste all the money and time spent or spend more money until it is completed, if it is ever completed. Common Organizational Skills Project Management Estimation (Cost and Time) Creation and Maintenance of Accepted Standards Interpersonal Skills For me personally Interpersonal skill ranks above the other types of skill sets because an architect can quickly pick up the other two skill sets by communicating with other team/project members so that they are quickly up to speed on a project. Additionally, in order for an architect to manage a project or even derive rough estimates they will more than likely have to consult with others actually working on the code (Programmers/Software Engineers) to get there estimates since they will be the ones actually working on the changes to be implemented.
