  • Win7: Right place to install a program that may be 'shared' with other computers

    We have an app that currently installs itself into 'program files\our app', and it puts the internal data files into the common Application Data folder. This means the program is available to any user on that particular PC. Now we want to make a multi-user version of this program, multiple PCs accessing the program at the same time across the network. In the bad old days, under XP, we'd just have the user who installed the app 'share' the app directory and off we'd go. In principle, is this still the 'right' way to do it under Vista/Windows 7? We'd like to do this 'properly' and be as compliant as possible! Is there a recommended 'Microsoft' approach for doing this, or is it largely down to whatever we can get away with and subsequently support (hah!). I've tried researching this on the MS websites but not found anything too helpful at all - it'd be really useful to have a 'if you're trying to install this kind of thing, put it here' type guide for developers!

    When I create an NSObject subclass, I always get an empty implementation. There are some things I always put in my code like pragma marks and -dealloc methods. I prefer to just delete stuff that I don't need over writing it with typos from scratch every time I need it. I need -dealloc and -init almost always, but they don't ship with the default template. Is there a way to customize what's in there?

  • Release edit in QTableWidget Cell

    Basically I am trying to give the enter key the same functionality as the return key has when editing a cell in a qtablewidget. If editing a cell and enter is pressed I want it to jump out of editing that cell just like return does. It feels like I've literally tried everything. I've even tried passing a return press event to qcoreapplication. It seems like if your editing a cell and you press a key to trigger an action it wont happen. That seems to be what the problem is and I'm not sure how to get around that. I've been setting up all of my keyboard shortcuts for this program as actions because it seems easier to set up. Is there another way to do this that would allow the key event to happen when editing a cell? Can anyone help out with this? Thank you in advance. Tried this.   • How to place caption (figure / table) into margin?

    I write thesis and need to put a lot of small pictures into it. I also need to use captions (with labels) for better navigation and referring to these pictures. In the same time I want to spare space and put captions beside (next to) pictures, in margin, like marginpar does. I tried sidecap package but it didn't work, neither mcaption package did help. Maybe using a minipage would solve it, but I would like also to align caption to the middle (vertical align) of picture. Any suggestions?

  • Edit PDF files dynamically from Flash or Flex

    I am planning to do a CD-ROM in either Flash or Flex, possibly using the Adobe AIR runtime. This CD interactive will have a bunch of forms on it for the user to fill out. After they fill in a form, they will have the option of saving or printing a PDF that is based on there information. I am trying to find a way of editing the content of the PDF in Flash, so when the user fills out the form, the application will fill in the PDF with there details from the form fields. Is this is possible? It would be great if there was some way of having template PDFs (either on the CD as there own files, or in a Flash library), then flash could come along and fill in the specific fields inside the PDF. Can Adobe AIR help me in any way here?

    I have a hash of complex structure and I want to perform a search and replace. The first hash is like the following: $VAR1 = { abc => { 123 => ["xx", "yy", "zy"], 456 => ["ab", "cd", "ef"] }, def => { 659 => ["wx", "yg", "kl"], 456 => ["as", "sd", "df"] }, mno => { 987 => ["lk", "dm", "sd"] }, } and I want to iteratively search for all '123'/'456' elements, and if a match is found, I need to do a comparison of the sublayer, i.e. of ['ab','cd','ef'] and ['as','sd','df'] and in this case, keep only the one with ['ab','cd','ef']. So the output will be as follows: $VAR1 = { abc => { 123 => ["xx", "yy", "zy"], 456 => ["ab", "cd", "ef"] }, def => { 659 => ["wx", "yg", "kl"] }, mno => { 987 => ["lk", "dm", "sd"] }, } So the deletion is based on the substructure, and not index. How can it be done? Thanks for the help!! Lets assume that I will declare the values to be kept, i.e. I will keep 456 = ["ab", "cd", "ef"] based on a predeclared value of ["ab", "cd", "ef"] and delete any other instance of 456 anywhere else. The search has to be for every key. so the code will go through the hash, first taking 123 = ["xx", "yy", "zy"] and compare it against itself throughout the rest of the hash, if no match is found, do nothing. If a match is found, like in the case of 456 = ["ab", "cd", "ef"], it will compare the two, and as I have said that in case of a match the one with ["ab", "cd", "ef"] would be kept, it will keep 456 = ["ab", "cd", "ef"] and discard any other instances of 456 anywhere else in the hash, i.e. it will delete 456 = ["as", "sd", "df"] in this case.

  • Jeditable doubling up on linebreaks every edit

    I'm using var retval = value.replace(/<br[\s\/]?>/gi, '\n'); To strip the <br> tags from the textarea and nl2br('$_POST('newValueHere')') to insert into my database and to return back to jeditable to display the edits. The only problem I'm having is that each click on the editable field seems to make all the <br> tags be written twice? This makes no sense, does anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

    I'm trying to prevent users from uploading (accidentally or maliciously) very large files to my website. I have nginx max_client_body_size set to 4M, but if a file larger than this is uploaded, then it uploads the entire file before returning 413 (entity too large). I want to make nginx check the Content-Length header, so that it rejects the request before it's uploaded. Alternatively, a Rails solution would also be acceptable. Any help appreciated.

Firstly it's not updating the entries in doxygen.config, perhaps one needs to put the settings in the exact hierarchy as it appears in the native doxygen file (?).     Hello, I have some PDF documents which are being displayed in the browser, with some fields already being pre-populated from the database using iTextSharp (we are running Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, SQL Server 2008, and ASP.NET 2.0/2.5 with C#). Our clients need to be able to fill in the remaining fields and save the PDF to the server. I have considered the following possibilities: 1.) Somehow using iTextSharp to parse the form fields, grab all the form data and save it to the database on submit. 2.) Adding a submit button to the PDF itself using LiveCycle with some sort of JS click event to save the FDF/XFDF/XDP/XML data either to the database or to a flat file on the server. I am currently unsure as to what the best approach would be, what would work, or how to implement any of these possible solutions, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Data on the Frequency of Edit Operations Required to Correct a Misspelt Word

    Does anybody know of any data that relates to the frequency of the types of mistakes the people make when they misspell a word? I'm not referring to words themselves, but tje errors that are made by the typist. For example, I personally make transposition errors the most followed by deletion errors (that is, not including a letter I should), substitution errors and lastly, insertion errors. However, it would not surprise me to find out that typing a wrong letter (a substitution error, e.g., xat instead of cat) is more frequent than not including a letter. My purpose is to be able to make best guesses at correcting a word when I only have the original user's input. The idea being that if one type of error is more frequent than others, then it's more likely that correcting a word via that type of operation is correct. I don't object to using a database of commonly misspelt words but I prefer an algorithmic solution to depending on a corpus--especially if it might be faster.

    Hi , How can we specify were log4j has to look at when trying to find its xml configuration file ? It seems that by default, log4j looks into the root of a class folder, I can say that using the debug log4j functionality and running my application from the IDE. However, I don't have any class folder in my jar anymore. And the log4j.xml file is at the root of the jar. I have already tried to set the option -Dlog4j.configuration=log4j.xml but it doesn't work. Here is the global structure of my application at the moment : com lib meta-inf log4j.xml Thanks !
