  • Encoding gives "'ascii' codec can't encode character … ordinal not in range(128)"

    - by user140314
I am working through the Django RSS reader project here. The RSS feed will read something like "OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — James Harden let". The RSS feed's encoding reads encoding="UTF-8" so I believe I am passing utf-8 to markdown in the code snippet below. The em dash is where it chokes. I get the Django error of "'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\u2014' in position 109: ordinal not in range(128)" which is an UnicodeEncodeError. In the variables being passed I see "OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) \u2014 James Harden". The code line that is not working is: content = content.encode(parsed_feed.encoding, "xmlcharrefreplace") I am using markdown 2.0, django 1.1, and python 2.4. What is the magic sequence of encoding and decoding that I need to do to make this work? Thanks.

  • How can I generate sql inserts from pipe delimited data?

    - by user568866
Given a set of delimited data in the following format: 1|Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope|1977|Action,Sci-Fi|George Lucas 2|Titanic|1997|Drama,History,Romance|James Cameron How can I generate sql insert statements in this format? insert into table values(1,"Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope",1977","Action,Sci-Fi","George Lucas",0); insert into table values(2,"Titanic",1997,"Drama,History,Romance","James Cameron",0); To simplify the problem, let's allow for a parameter to tell which columns are text or numeric. (e.g. 0,1,0,1,1)

  • How to Track Number of Changes Occured in a Column? T-SQL - SQL Server

    - by user327387
For example, i have a column named EmployeeName. Every time a user changes/fix his name, i need to keep a count. If he changes his name twice, then count is 2. Also, i need to store the time of every change employee makes on EmployeeName e.g. if the name essentially is James and time created is 9:00 AM and then employee changes to John on 11:00 AM, i need to preserve this new time and new value as well as the previous one which is James at 9:00 AM. I hope its clear! Thank you guys...Best Answer will be chosen... If this requires a trigger, giving a sketchy pseudo-code will be very much appreciated.

  • is there a way to show what field you updated in mysql?

    - by ggfan
When users edit their account, I want to display a confirmation page that shows their updated information with the fields that they changed in bold. Is there a mysql statement that allows you to select the fields that a user changes? If not, how exactly can I achieve this Ex: (editaccount.php) first_name: bob last_name: builder email: [email protected] When they change say their first name to "james", the confirmation page shows their first name in bold because they changed that but the other areas are still normal text. first_name: <b>James</b> last_name: builder email: [email protected]

  • Java regex skipping matches

    - by Mihail Burduja
I have some text; I want to extract pairs of words that are not separated by punctuation. Thi is the code: //n-grams Pattern p = Pattern.compile("[a-z]+"); if (n == 2) { p = Pattern.compile("[a-z]+ [a-z]+"); } if (n == 3) { p = Pattern.compile("[a-z]+ [a-z]+ [a-z]+"); } Matcher m = p.matcher(text.toLowerCase()); ArrayList<String> result = new ArrayList<String>(); while (m.find()) { String temporary = m.group(); System.out.println(temporary); result.add(temporary); } The problem is that it skips some matches. For example "My name is James", for n = 3, must match "my name is" and "name is james", but instead it matches just the first. Is there a way to solve this?

  • Turn off email notification from abrt (Automatic Bug Reporting Tool)

    - by Banjer
I'm configuring CentOS 6.2 and have seen a few "[abrt] full crash report" emails. I understand that abrt is useful for creating crash dumps and what not, so I don't want to disable the service, I just would like to stop getting the crash report emails. I probably have to add something to the config file in /etc/abrt/abrt.conf. I can't seem to find anything in my searches. Any idea? Thanks. Edit: Here is my abrt.conf, which is rather simple. [root@myhost~]# cat /etc/abrt/abrt.conf # Enable this if you want abrtd to auto-unpack crashdump tarballs which appear # in this directory (for example, uploaded via ftp, scp etc). # Note: you must ensure that whatever directory you specify here exists # and is writable for abrtd. abrtd will not create it automatically. # #WatchCrashdumpArchiveDir = /var/spool/abrt-upload # Max size for crash storage [MiB] or 0 for unlimited # MaxCrashReportsSize = 1000 # Specify where you want to store coredumps and all files which are needed for # reporting. (default:/var/spool/abrt) # #DumpLocation = /var/spool/abrt And a listing of /etc/abrt: [root@myhost~]# ls -la /etc/abrt total 32 drwxr-xr-x. 3 root root 4096 Apr 13 06:14 . drwxr-xr-x. 97 root root 12288 Apr 13 03:50 .. -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 527 Dec 13 22:50 abrt-action-save-package-data.conf -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 572 Dec 13 22:50 abrt.conf -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 175 Dec 13 22:50 gpg_keys drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Apr 13 06:13 plugins [root@myhost~]# ls -la /etc/abrt/plugins/ total 12 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Apr 13 06:13 . drwxr-xr-x. 3 root root 4096 Apr 13 06:14 .. -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 278 Dec 13 22:50 CCpp.conf Actually all of those conf files above are only a few lines and do not mention anything about mail, email, or notifications.

  • Mongodb: why is my mongo server using two PID's?

    - by Lucas
I started my mongo with the following command: [lucas@ecoinstance]~/node/nodetest2$ sudo mongod --dbpath /home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data 2014-06-07T08:46:30.507+0000 [initandlisten] MongoDB starting : pid=6409 port=27017 dbpat h=/home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data 64-bit host=ecoinstance 2014-06-07T08:46:30.508+0000 [initandlisten] db version v2.6.1 2014-06-07T08:46:30.508+0000 [initandlisten] git version: 4b95b086d2374bdcfcdf2249272fb55 2c9c726e8 2014-06-07T08:46:30.508+0000 [initandlisten] build info: Linux build14.nj1.10gen.cc 2.6.3 2-431.3.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 3 21:39:27 UTC 2014 x86_64 BOOST_LIB_VERSION=1_49 2014-06-07T08:46:30.509+0000 [initandlisten] allocator: tcmalloc 2014-06-07T08:46:30.509+0000 [initandlisten] options: { storage: { dbPath: "/home/lucas/n ode/nodetest2/data" } } 2014-06-07T08:46:30.520+0000 [initandlisten] journal dir=/home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data/ journal 2014-06-07T08:46:30.520+0000 [initandlisten] recover : no journal files present, no recov ery needed 2014-06-07T08:46:30.527+0000 [initandlisten] waiting for connections on port 27017 It appears to be working, as I can execute mongo and access the server. However, here are the process running mongo: [lucas@ecoinstance]~/node/testSite$ ps aux | grep mongo root 6540 0.0 0.2 33424 1664 pts/3 S+ 08:52 0:00 sudo mongod --dbpath /ho me/lucas/node/nodetest2/data root 6541 0.6 8.6 522140 52512 pts/3 Sl+ 08:52 0:00 mongod --dbpath /home/lu cas/node/nodetest2/data lucas 6554 0.0 0.1 7836 876 pts/4 S+ 08:52 0:00 grep mongo As you can see, there are two PID's for mongo. Before I ran sudo mongod --dbpath /home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data, there were none (besides the grep of course). How did my command spawn two PID's, and should I be concerned? Any suggestions or tips would be great. Additional Info In addition, I may have other issues that might suggest a cause. I tried running mongo with --fork --logpath /home/lucas..., but it did not work. More information below: [lucas@ecoinstance]~/node/nodetest2$ sudo mongod --dbpath /home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data --fork --logpath /home/lucas/node/nodetest2/data/ about to fork child process, waiting until server is ready for connections. forked process: 6578 ERROR: child process failed, exited with error number 1 [lucas@ecoinstance]~/node/nodetest2$ ls -l data/ total 163852 drwxr-xr-x 2 mongodb nogroup 4096 Jun 7 08:54 journal -rw------- 1 mongodb nogroup 67108864 Jun 7 08:52 local.0 -rw------- 1 mongodb nogroup 16777216 Jun 7 08:52 local.ns -rwxr-xr-x 1 mongodb nogroup 0 Jun 7 08:54 mongod.lock -rw------- 1 mongodb nogroup 67108864 Jun 7 02:08 nodetest1.0 -rw------- 1 mongodb nogroup 16777216 Jun 7 02:08 nodetest1.ns Also, my db path folder is not the original location. It was originally created under the default /var/lib/mongodb/ and moved to my local data folder. This was done after shutting down the server via /etc/init.d/mongod stop. I have a Debian Wheezy server, if it matters.

  • Volume group disappeared, LVs still available

    - by Ben
I've run into an issue with my KVM host which runs VMs on a LVM volume. As of last night the logical volumes are no longer seen as such (I can't create snapshots of them even though I have been for months now). Running any scans all result in nothing being found: [root@apollo ~]# pvscan No matching physical volumes found [root@apollo ~]# vgscan Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while... No volume groups found root@apollo ~]# lvscan No volume groups found If I try restoring the VG conf backup from /etc/lvm/backups/vg0 I get the following error: [root@apollo ~]# vgcfgrestore -f /etc/lvm/backup/vg0 vg0 Couldn't find device with uuid 20zG25-H8MU-UQPf-u0hD-NftW-ngsC-mG63dt. When: Tuesday July 9, 2013 8:30am - 12:30pm Where: Oracle Conference Center350 Oracle Pkwy Redwood City, CA 94065 Register now. It's free! Here's the latest update to the event agenda: 8:30am - 9:00am Registration and Continental Breakfast 9:00am - 9:45am Keynote 21st Century IT | Dr. James Baty VP, Global Enterprise Architecture Program, Oracle Imagine a time long, long ago. A time when servers were certified and dedicated to specific applications, when anything posted on an enterprise web site was from restricted, approved channels, and when we tried to limit the growth of 'dirty' data and storage. Today, applications are services running in the muti-tenant hybrid cloud. Companies beg their customers to tweet them, friend them, and publicly rate their products. And constantly analyzing a deluge of Internet, social and sensor data is the key to creating the next super-successful product, or capturing an evil terrorist. The old IT architecture was planned, dedicated, stable, controlled, with separate and well-defined roles. The new architecture is shared, dynamic, continuous, XaaS, DevOps. This keynote session describes the challenges and opportunities that the new business / IT paradigms present to the IT architecture and architects. 9:45am - 10:30am Technical Session Oracle Cloud: A Case Study in Building a Cloud | Anbu Krishnaswami Enterprise Architect, Oracle Building a Cloud can be challenging thanks to the complex requirements unique to Cloud computing and the massive scale typically associated with Cloud. Cloud providers can take an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) approach and build a cloud on virtualized commodity hardware, or they can take the Platform as a Service (PaaS) path, a service-oriented approach based on pre-configured, integrated, engineered systems. This presentation uses the Oracle Cloud itself as a case study in the use of engineered systems, demonstrating how the technical design of engineered systems is leveraged for building PaaS and SaaS Cloud services and a Cloud management infrastructure. The presentation will also explore the principles, patterns, best practices, and architecture views provided in Oracle's Cloud reference architecture. 10:30 am -10:45 am Break 10:45am-11:30am Technical Session Database as a Service | Markus Michalewicz Senior Principal Product Manager Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) New applications are now commonly built in a Cloud model, where the database is consumed as a service, and many established business processes are beginning to migrate to database as a service (DBaaS). This adoption of DBaaS is made possible by the availability of new capabilities in the database that enable resource pooling, dynamic resource management, model-based provisioning, metered use, and effective quality-of-service controls. This session will examine the catalog of database services at a large commercial bank to understand how these capabilities are enabling DBaaS for a wide range of needs within the enterprise. 11:30 am - 12:00 pm Panel Q&A Dr. James Baty, Anbu Krishnaswami, and Markus Michalewicz respond to audience questions. Registration is free, but seating is limited, so register now.

• Blogging from the PASS Summit : Nov. 8th keynote

    - by AaronBertrand
Douglas McDowell talks about day 1, the video montage featuring folks here from all over the world, and the fiscal year. The important point I took from this is that PASS is a non-profit committed to investing its revenue back into the community. They are hiring another full-time community evangelist, adding IT resources for online resources like the SQL Saturday site, and further expanding global efforts. He introduces the new board members: Wendy Pastrick, James Rowland-Jones, and Sri Sridharan....(read more)
