  • Nvidia Drivers on Debian / Lenny (Stable) -> Installation successful -> Monitors gets black

    - by David
I have successfully installed the proprietary drivers for my nvidia (geforce 7300 gt) graphics card on debian/lenny. I know its not the best way to chose for driver installation ( see this link: http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#non-freedrivers ). but the two ways seem to be possible for me (nvidia-kernel module compilation). Now the problem is that the monitors gets black, the power light starts blinking after i launch the x-server. • ssh client problem: Connection reset by peer

    - by yonix
I'm having a really annoying problem on my Ubuntu laptop. I noticed it today, after upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04, although I'm not entirely sure this is the cause as I played with my ssh keys a few days ago. The problem is, whenever I try to ssh to ANY host I get the following error: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer running with -vvv gives the following output: OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-1ubuntu3, OpenSSL 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0 debug1: Connecting to hostname [10.0.0.2] port 22. debug1: Connection established. debug1: permanently_set_uid: 0/0 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_rsa type -1 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_rsa-cert type -1 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_dsa type -1 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_dsa-cert type -1 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_ecdsa type -1 debug1: identity file /root/.ssh/id_ecdsa-cert type -1 debug1: Remote protocol version 1.99, remote software version OpenSSH_4.2 debug1: match: OpenSSH_4.2 pat OpenSSH_4* debug1: Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0 debug1: Local version string SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-1ubuntu3 debug2: fd 3 setting O_NONBLOCK debug3: load_hostkeys: loading entries for host "hostname" from file "/root/.ssh/known_hosts" debug3: load_hostkeys: loaded 0 keys debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer My /etc/ssh/ssh_config: Host * SendEnv LANG LC_* HashKnownHosts yes GSSAPIAuthentication no GSSAPIDelegateCredentials no I can connect to my laptop from any other server via ssh, and I can also ssh localhost from my laptop successfully. I can connect to all these other server from other laptops, and I don't see anything in the logs of the other servers regarding my failed attempt. I tried to stop iptables, didn't help. I tried several tricks I could find online with my /etc/ssh/ssh_config, but I was unsuccessful in solving the problem... Any ideas? • arp "who-has tell" on cloned machine

    - by mcmorry
I have a urgent problem to solve today, but I'm lost. Please help. I've cloned a Virtual Machine hosted on VM Ware ESXi 4.1 The OS is now Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS, but at the time of cloning it was 10.04 LTS. I fixed the MAC address manually inside /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. It is a known problem on Ubuntu. I had to remove the old MAC address and set the new one as eth0. Everything seems to work fine, except ARP. My provider OVH sent me a warning to resolve it today (this is the second day) or they will block my IP! The log contains many lines like this: Tue Jun 5 01:04:29 2012 : arp who-has 178.32.136.212 tell 178.32.136.224 where .224 is the cloned server that is causing problems, and .212 is the cloned one. arp -na returns: ? (178.33.230.254) at 00:07:b4:00:00:02 [ether] on eth0 ? (178.32.136.212) at 00:50:56:09:8e:f1 [ether] on eth0 The first IP is the ESXi machine. The second one should not be there. I'm not an expert and I don't know what else to do to fix this problem. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks. • Sharing files between multiple sites using only desktop software

    - by perlyking
Our organisation has three sites; a head office, where the master copies of company files are stored, plus two branch offices using only workstations and a NAS or two. Currently we're talking about <10GB. At the main office, we have no admin access to the file server, as this is entirely controlled by the larger institution where we are located. For the same reason, we have no VPN remote access to this network. Instead, we simply have access to a network share using over a Novell LAN. Question: how can we share files between offices in way that minimises latency, i.e. that gives us a mirror of the main network share at each site? (There is little likelihood of concurrent editing, and we can live with the odd file conflict now and again). Up to now branch office staff have had to use GotoMyPC-type solutions to remotely access files held at the main office. Or email. I was hoping to use Google Drive on a dedicated workstation at each office to sync the contents of the network share (head office) or NAS (branch offices) via the cloud, but at my last attempt (29 Jun '12), the Google Drive installer would not allow me to designate the remote network share as the "target" folder. (I chose Google Drive over Drobbox et al. as we already use GMail for corporate mail) The next idea was to use a designated workstation at head office to mirror the network share to a local drive, then use Google Drive to push that to the cloud. This seems a step too far. Nor do I have any good ideas about how to achieve this network/local mirroring, as we can't, for example, install the rsync daemon on the server. I do not want to use Google Drive locally on each workstation as this will inconvenience users, and more importantly, move files off the backed-up, well-maintained (UPS, RAID etc) network share at head office. Our budget is only in the £100's. Should we perhaps just ditch the head office server and use something like JungleDisk? At least this presents the user with what appears to be a mapped drive.

  • How to propagate http response code from back-end to client

    - by Manoj Neelapu
Oracle service bus can be used as for pass through casses. Some use cases require propagating the http-response code back to the caller. http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=4326052&#4326052 is one such example we will try to accomplish in this tutorial. We will try to demonstrate this feature using Oracle Service Bus (11.1.1.3.0. We will also use commons-logging-1.1.1, httpcomponents-client-4.0.1, httpcomponents-core-4.0.1 for writing the client to demonstrate.First we create a simple JSP which will always set response code to 304.The JSP snippet will look like <%@ page language="java"     contentType="text/xml;     charset=UTF-8"        pageEncoding="UTF-8" %><%      System.out.println("Servlet setting Responsecode=304");    response.setStatus(304);    response.flushBuffer();%>We will now deploy this JSP on weblogic server with URI=http://localhost:7021/reponsecode/For this JSP we will create a simple Any XML BS We will also create proxy service as shown below Once the proxy is created we configure pipeline for the proxy to use route node, which invokes the BS(JSPCaller) created in the first place. So now we will create a error handler for route node and will add a stage. When a HTTP BS sends a request, the JSP sends the response back. If the response code is not 200, then the http BS will consider that as error and the above configured error handler is invoked. We will print $outbound to show the response code sent by the JSP. The next actions. To test this I had create a simple clientimport org.apache.http.Header;import org.apache.http.HttpEntity;import org.apache.http.HttpHost;import org.apache.http.HttpResponse;import org.apache.http.HttpVersion;import org.apache.http.client.methods.HttpGet;import org.apache.http.conn.ClientConnectionManager;import org.apache.http.conn.scheme.PlainSocketFactory;import org.apache.http.conn.scheme.Scheme;import org.apache.http.conn.scheme.SchemeRegistry;import org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient;import org.apache.http.impl.conn.tsccm.ThreadSafeClientConnManager;import org.apache.http.params.BasicHttpParams;import org.apache.http.params.HttpParams;import org.apache.http.params.HttpProtocolParams;import org.apache.http.util.EntityUtils;/** * @author MNEELAPU * */public class TestProxy304{    public static void main(String arg[]) throws Exception{     HttpHost target = new HttpHost("localhost", 7021, "http");     // general setup     SchemeRegistry supportedSchemes = new SchemeRegistry();     // Register the "http" protocol scheme, it is required     // by the default operator to look up socket factories.     supportedSchemes.register(new Scheme("http",              PlainSocketFactory.getSocketFactory(), 7021));     // prepare parameters     HttpParams params = new BasicHttpParams();     HttpProtocolParams.setVersion(params, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1);     HttpProtocolParams.setContentCharset(params, "UTF-8");     HttpProtocolParams.setUseExpectContinue(params, true);     ClientConnectionManager connMgr = new ThreadSafeClientConnManager(params,              supportedSchemes);     DefaultHttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(connMgr, params);     HttpGet req = new HttpGet("/HttpResponseCode/ProxyExposed");     System.out.println("executing request to " + target);     HttpResponse rsp = httpclient.execute(target, req);     HttpEntity entity = rsp.getEntity();     System.out.println("----------------------------------------");     System.out.println(rsp.getStatusLine());     Header[] headers = rsp.getAllHeaders();     for (int i = 0; i < headers.length; i++) {         System.out.println(headers[i]);     }     System.out.println("----------------------------------------");     if (entity != null) {         System.out.println(EntityUtils.toString(entity));     }     // When HttpClient instance is no longer needed,      // shut down the connection manager to ensure     // immediate deallocation of all system resources     httpclient.getConnectionManager().shutdown();     }}On compiling and executing this we see the below output in STDOUT which clearly indicates the response code was propagated from Business Service to Proxy serviceexecuting request to http://localhost:7021----------------------------------------HTTP/1.1 304 Not ModifiedDate: Tue, 08 Jun 2010 16:13:42 GMTContent-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8X-Powered-By: Servlet/2.5 JSP/2.1----------------------------------------

  • Performing a clean database creation using msbuild

    - by Robert May
So I’m taking a break from writing about other Agile stuff for a post. :)  I’m still going to get back to the other subjects, but this is fun too. Something I’ve done quite a bit of is MSBuild and CI work.  I’m experimenting with ways to improve what I’ve done in the past, particularly around database CI. Today, I developed a mechanism for starting from scratch with your database.  By scratch, I mean blowing away the existing database and creating it again from a single command line call.  I’m a firm believer that developers should be able to get to a known clean state at the database level with a single command and that they should be operating off of their own isolated database to improve productivity.  These scripts will help that. Here’s how I did it.  First, we have to disconnect users.  I did so using the help of a script from sql server central.  Note that I’m using sqlcmd variable replacement. -- kills all the users in a particular database -- dlhatheway/3M, 11-Jun-2000 declare @arg_dbname sysname declare @a_spid smallint declare @msg varchar(255) declare @a_dbid int set @arg_dbname = '$(DatabaseName)' select @a_dbid = sdb.dbid from master..sysdatabases sdb where sdb.name = @arg_dbname declare db_users insensitive cursor for select sp.spid from master..sysprocesses sp where sp.dbid = @a_dbid open db_users fetch next from db_users into @a_spid while @@fetch_status = 0 begin select @msg = 'kill '+convert(char(5),@a_spid) print @msg execute (@msg) fetch next from db_users into @a_spid end close db_users deallocate db_users GO Once all users are booted from the database, we can commence with recreating the database.  I generated the script that is used to create a database from SQL Server management studio, so I’m only going to show the bits that weren’t generated that are important.  There are a bunch of Alter Database statements that aren’t shown. First, I had to find the default location of the database files in the install, since they can be in many different locations.  I used Method 1 from a technet blog and then modified it a bit to do what I needed to do.  I ended up using dynamic SQL because for the life of me, I couldn’t get the “Filename” property to not return an error when I used anything besides a string.  I’m dropping the database first, if it exists.  Here’s the code:   IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM [master].[sys].[databases] WHERE [name] = N'$(DatabaseName)') BEGIN drop database $(DatabaseName) END; go IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM [master].[sys].[databases] WHERE [name] = 'zzTempDBForDefaultPath') BEGIN DROP DATABASE zzTempDBForDefaultPath END; -- Create temp database. Because no options are given, the default data and --- log path locations are used CREATE DATABASE zzTempDBForDefaultPath; DECLARE @Default_Data_Path VARCHAR(512), @Default_Log_Path VARCHAR(512); --Get the default data path SELECT @Default_Data_Path = ( SELECT LEFT(physical_name,LEN(physical_name)-CHARINDEX('\',REVERSE(physical_name))+1) FROM sys.master_files mf INNER JOIN sys.[databases] d ON mf.[database_id] = d.[database_id] WHERE d.[name] = 'zzTempDBForDefaultPath' AND type = 0); --Get the default Log path SELECT @Default_Log_Path = ( SELECT LEFT(physical_name,LEN(physical_name)-CHARINDEX('\',REVERSE(physical_name))+1) FROM sys.master_files mf INNER JOIN sys.[databases] d ON mf.[database_id] = d.[database_id] WHERE d.[name] = 'zzTempDBForDefaultPath' AND type = 1); --Clean up. IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM [master].[sys].[databases] WHERE [name] = 'zzTempDBForDefaultPath') BEGIN DROP DATABASE zzTempDBForDefaultPath END; DECLARE @SQL nvarchar(max) SET @SQL= 'CREATE DATABASE $(DatabaseName) ON PRIMARY ( NAME = N''$(DatabaseName)'', FILENAME = N''' + @Default_Data_Path + N'$(DatabaseName)' + '.mdf' + ''', SIZE = 2048KB , FILEGROWTH = 1024KB ) LOG ON ( NAME = N''$(DatabaseName)Log'', FILENAME = N''' + @Default_Log_Path + N'$(DatabaseName)' + '.ldf' + ''', SIZE = 1024KB , FILEGROWTH = 10%) ' exec (@SQL) GO And with that, your database is created.  You can run these scripts on any server and on any database name.  To do that, I created an MSBuild script that looks like this: <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003" ToolsVersion="4.0"> <PropertyGroup> <DatabaseName>MyDatabase</DatabaseName> <Server>localhost</Server> <SqlCmd>sqlcmd -v DatabaseName=$(DatabaseName) -S $(Server) -i </SqlCmd> <ScriptDirectory>.\Scripts</ScriptDirectory> </PropertyGroup> <Target Name ="Rebuild"> <ItemGroup> <ScriptFiles Include="$(ScriptDirectory)\*.sql"/> </ItemGroup> <Exec Command="$(SqlCmd) &quot;%(ScriptFiles.Identity)&quot;" ContinueOnError="false"/> </Target> </Project> Note that the Scripts directory is underneath the directory where I’m running the msbuild command and is relative to that directory.  Note also that the target is using batching to run each script in the scripts subdirectory, one after the other.  Each script is passed to the sqlcmd command line execution using the .Identity property on the itemgroup that is created.  This target file is saved in the file “Database.target”. To make this work, you’ll need msbuild in your path, and then run the following command: msbuild database.target /target:Rebuild Once you’ve got your virgin database setup, you’d then need to use a tool like dbdeploy.net to determine that it was a virgin database, build a change script based on the change scripts, and then you’d want another sqlcmd call to update the database with the appropriate scripts.  I’m doing that next, so I’ll post a blog update when I’ve got it working. • A new SQL, a new Analysis Services, a new Workshop! #ssas #sql2012

    - by Marco Russo (SQLBI)
One week ago Microsoft SQL Server 2012 finally debuted with a virtual launch event and you can find many intro sessions there (20 minutes each). There is a lot of new content available if you want to learn more about SQL 2012 and in this blog post I’d like to provide a few link to sessions, documents, bits and courses that are available now or very soon. First of all, the release of Analysis Services 2012 has finally released PowerPivot 2012 (many of us called it PowerPivot v2 before this official name) and also the new Data Mining Add-in for Microsoft Office 2010, now available also for Excel 64bit! And, of course, don’t miss the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Feature Pack, there are a lot of upgrades for both DBAs and developers. I just discovered there is a new LocalDB version of SQL Express that can run in user mode without any setup. Is this the end of SQL CE? But now, back to Analysis Services: if you want some tutorial on Tabular, the Microsoft Virtual Academy has a whole track dedicated to Analysis Services 2012 but you will probably be interested also in the one about Reporting Services 2012. If you think that virtual is good but it’s not enough, there are plenty of conferences in the coming months – these are just those where I and Alberto will deliver some SSAS Tabular presentations: SQLBits X, London, March 29-31, 2012: if you are in London or want a good reason to go, this is the most important SQL Server event in Europe this year, no doubts about it. And not only because of the high number of attendees, but also because there is an impressive number of speakers (excluding me, of course) coming from all over the world. This is an event second only to PASS Summit in Seattle so there are no good reasons to not attend it. Microsoft SQL Server & Business Intelligence Conference 2012, Milan, March 28-29, 2012: this is an Italian conference so the language might be a barrier, but many of us also speak English and the food is good! Just a few seats still available. TechEd North America, Orlando, June 11-14, 2012: you know, this is a big event and it contains everything – if you want to spend a whole day learning the SSAS Tabular model with me and Alberto, don’t miss our pre-conference day “Using BISM Tabular in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2012” (be careful, it is on June 10, a nice study-Sunday!). TechEd Europe, Amsterdam, June 26-29, 2012: the European version of TechEd provides almost the same content and you don’t have to go overseas. We also run the same pre-conference day “Using BISM Tabular in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services 2012” (in this case, it is on June 25, that’s a regular Monday). I and Alberto will also speak at some user group meeting around Europe during… well, we’re going to travel a lot in the next months. In fact, if you want to get a complete training on SSAS Tabular, you should spend two days with us in one of our SSAS Tabular Workshop! We prepared a 2-day seminar, a very intense one, that start from the simple tabular modeling and cover architecture, DAX, query, advanced modeling, security, deployment, optimization, monitoring, relationships with PowerPivot and Multidimensional… Really, there are a lot of stuffs here! We announced the first dates in Europe and also an online edition optimized for America’s time zone: Apr 16-17, 2012 – Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 26-27, 2012 – Copenhagen, Denmark May 7-8, 2012 – Online for America’s time zone May 14-15, 2012 – Brussels, Belgium May 21-22, 2012 – Oslo, Norway May 24-25, 2012 – Stockholm, Sweden May 28-29, 2012 – London, United Kingdom May 31-Jun 1, 2012 – Milan, Italy (Italian language) Also Chris Webb will join us in this workshop and in every date you can find who is the speaker on the web site. The course is based on our upcoming book, almost 600 pages (!) about SSAS Tabular, an incredible effort that will be available very soon in a preview (rough cuts from O’Reilly) and will be on the shelf in May. I will provide a link to order it as soon as we have one! And if you think that this is not enough… you’re right! Do you know what is the only thing you can do to optimize your Tabular model? Optimize your DAX code. Learning DAX is easy, mastering DAX requires some knowledge… and our DAX Advanced Workshop will provide exactly the required content. Public classes will be available later this year, by now we just deliver it on demand.

  • Oracle VM RAC template - what it took

    - by wcoekaer
In my previous posting I introduced the latest Oracle Real Application Cluster / Oracle VM template. I mentioned how easy it is to deploy a complete Oracle RAC cluster with Oracle VM. In fact, you don't need any prior knowledge at all to get a complete production-ready setup going. Here is an example... I built a 4 node RAC cluster, completely configured in just over 40 minutes - starting from import template into Oracle VM, create VMs to fully up and running Oracle RAC. And what was needed? 1 textfile with some hostnames and ip addresses and deploycluster.py. The setup is a 4 node cluster where each VM has 8GB of RAM and 4 vCPUs. The shared ASM storage in this case is 100GB, 5 x 20GB volumes. The VM names are racovm.0-racovm.3. The deploycluster script starts the VMs, verifies the configuration and sends the database cluster configuration info through Oracle VM Manager to the 4 node VMs. Once the VMs are up and running, the first VM starts the actual Oracle RAC setup inside and talks to the 3 other VMs. I did not log into any VM until after everything was completed. • Checksum Transformation

The Checksum Transformation computes a hash value, the checksum, across one or more columns, returning the result in the Checksum output column. The transformation provides functionality similar to the T-SQL CHECKSUM function, but is encapsulated within SQL Server Integration Services, for use within the pipeline without code or a SQL Server connection. As featured in The Microsoft Data Warehouse Toolkit by Joy Mundy and Warren Thornthwaite from the Kimbal Group. Have a look at the book samples especially Sample package for custom SCD handling. All input columns are passed through the transformation unaltered, those selected are used to generate the checksum which is passed out through a single output column, Checksum. This does not restrict the number of columns available downstream from the transformation, as columns will always flow through a transformation. The Checksum output column is in addition to all existing columns within the pipeline buffer. The Checksum Transformation uses an algorithm based on the .Net framework GetHashCode method, it is not consistent with the T-SQL CHECKSUM() or BINARY_CHECKSUM() functions. The transformation does not support the following Integration Services data types, DT_NTEXT, DT_IMAGE and DT_BYTES. ChecksumAlgorithm Property There ChecksumAlgorithm property is defined with an enumeration. It was first added in v1.3.0, when the FrameworkChecksum was added. All previous algorithms are still supported for backward compatibility as ChecksumAlgorithm.Original (0). Original - Orginal checksum function, with known issues around column separators and null columns. This was deprecated in the first SQL Server 2005 RTM release. FrameworkChecksum - The hash function is based on the .NET Framework GetHash method for object types. This is based on the .NET Object.GetHashCode() method, which unfortunately differs between x86 and x64 systems. For that reason we now default to the CRC32 option. CRC32 - Using a standard 32-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC), this provides a more open implementation. The component is provided as an MSI file, however to complete the installation, you will have to add the transformation to the Visual Studio toolbox by hand. This process has been described in detail in the related FAQ entry for How do I install a task or transform component?, just select Checksum from the SSIS Data Flow Items list in the Choose Toolbox Items window. Downloads The Checksum Transformation is available for SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 (includes R2) and SQL Server 2012. Please choose the version to match your SQL Server version, or you can install multiple versions and use them side by side if you have more than one version of SQL Server installed. Checksum Transformation for SQL Server 2005 Checksum Transformation for SQL Server 2008 Checksum Transformation for SQL Server 2012 Version History SQL Server 2012 Version 3.0.0.27 – SQL Server 2012 release. • JDeveloper does not recognize existing subversion working directory

    - by Bob Webster
Just a quick note about an issue where JDeveloper no longer recognized an existing subversion working directory. Symptom:  JDeveloper Versioning menu offers to Version an Application that is already versioned in svn. Cause: The repository url contained in the hidden .svn folders of the working directory is no longer valid. Solution: Determine the correct url for the Subversion repository and update the .svn working directory.Fix the url contained in the svn folders of the working directory using the svn switch command. Example:           In a shell change directory to the Application folder.           Run the svn info command to confirm the current settings.                $ svn info                   Path: .                   URL: http://192.168.1.128/repos/jdeveloperrepo/AsyncExamples/BPELCallAsync/trunk                   Repository Root: http://192.168.1.128/repos/jdeveloperrepo                   Repository UUID: 3dc5eb88-3001-0010-8d6e-fd6f73825647                   Revision: 145                   Node Kind: directory                   Schedule: normal                   Last Changed Rev: 145                   Last Changed Date: 2012-06-07 07:15:56 -0700 (Thu, 07 Jun 2012)            In this case, the IP address in the repository URL is incorrect,           the svn server is located at 192.168.56.1           Note: The IP Address currently set is displayed after the Project Name in the            Application Navigator.  See the screen snapshot above.            Run the svn switch command with the --relocate option            Provide as much of the urls as necessary to correctly rewrite the url from current to new.            For example,            to change the repository server address from 192.168.1.128   to   192.168.56.1                     $  svn switch --relocate  http://192.168.1.128   http://192.168.56.1  .                               (Note the trailing period in the above command)           When the url is correct, JDeveloper should recognize the Subversion Working Directory.

  • Exiting a reboot loop

    - by user12617035
If you're in a situation where the system is panic'ing during boot, you can use # boot net -s to regain control of your system. In my case, I'd added some diagnostic code to a (PCI) driver (that is used to boot the root filesystem). There was a bug in the driver, and each time during boot, the bug occurred, and so caused the system to panic: ... 000000000180b950 genunix:vfs_mountroot+60 (800, 200, 0, 185d400, 1883000, 18aec00) %l0-3: 0000000000001770 0000000000000640 0000000001814000 00000000000008fc %l4-7: 0000000001833c00 00000000018b1000 0000000000000600 0000000000000200 000000000180ba10 genunix:main+98 (18141a0, 1013800, 18362c0, 18ab800, 180e000, 1814000) %l0-3: 0000000070002000 0000000000000001 000000000180c000 000000000180e000 %l4-7: 0000000000000001 0000000001074800 0000000000000060 0000000000000000 skipping system dump - no dump device configured rebooting... If you're logged in via the console, you can send a BREAK sequence in order to gain control of the firmware's (OBP's) prompt. Enter Ctrl-Shift-[ in order to get the TELNET prompt. Once telnet has control, enter this: telnet> send brk You'll be presented with OBP's prompt: ok You then enter the following in order to boot into single-user mode via the network: ok boot net -s Note that booting from the network under Solaris will implicitly cause the system to be INSTALLED with whatever software had last been configured to be installed. However, we are using boot net -s as a "handle" with which to get at the Solaris prompt. Once at that prompt, we can perform actions as root that will let us back out our buggy driver (ok... MY buggy driver :-)) ...and replace it with the original, non-buggy driver. Entering the boot command caused the following output, as well as left us at the Solaris prompt (in single-user-mode): Sun Blade 1500, No Keyboard Copyright 1998-2004 Sun Microsystems, Inc. It is mounted on an NFS filesystem exported by our install server. This is something that you should also have recorded before you ever loaded your.. er... Note that /tmp/mnt is prefixed to the path of where we'd "normally" find the driver: # cd /tmp/mnt/platform/sun4u/kernel/drv/sparcv9 # ls -l pci\* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 288504 Dec 6 15:38 pcisch -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 288504 Dec 6 15:38 pcisch.aar -rwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 211616 Jun 8 2006 pcisch.orig # cp -p pcisch.orig pcisch We can now synchronize any in-memory filesystem data structures with those on disk... and then reboot. • Failed to load viewstate

    - by Jen
OK have just started getting this error and I'm not sure why. I have a hosting page which has listview and a panel with a usercontrol. The listview loads up records with a linkbutton. You click the link button to edit that particular record - which gets loaded up in the formview (within the usercontrol) which goes to edit mode. After an update occurs in the formview I'm triggering an event which my hosting page is listening for. The hosting page then rebinds the listview to show the updated data. So this all works - but when I then go to click on a different linkbutton I get the below error: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.3) Timestamp: Fri, 18 Jun 2010 03:15:54 UTC Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request. Line: 4723 Char: 21 Code: 0 URI: http://localhost:1951/AdminWebSite/ScriptResource.axd?d=yfdLw4zYs0bqYqs1arL-htap1ceeKCyW1EXhrhMZy_AqJ36FUpx8b2pzMKL6V7ebYsgJDVm_sZ_ykV1hNtFqgYcJCLLtardHm9-yyA7zC4k1&t=ffffffffec2d9970 Any suggestions as to what is actually wrong?? My event listener does this: protected void RatesEditDate1_EditDateRateUpdated() { if (IsDateRangeValid(txtDisplayFrom, txtDisplayTo)) { PropertyAccommodationRates1.DataBind(); } else { pnlViewAccommodationRates.Visible = false; } divEditRate.Visible = false; } When I click my link button - it should be hitting this but the second time round it errors before hitting the breakpoint: protected void RatesEditDate1_EditDateRateSelected(DateTime theDateTime) { // make sure everything else is invisible pnlAddAccommodation.Visible = false; pnlViewEditAccommodations.Visible = false; RatesEditDate1.TheDateTime = theDateTime; RatesEditDate1.PropertyID = (int)Master.PropertyId; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(Accommodations1.SelectedValue)) { RatesEditDate1.AccommodationTypeID = Convert.ToInt32(Accommodations1.SelectedValue); } else { RatesEditDate1.AccommodationTypeID = 0; } divEditRate.Visible = true; } So my listview appears to be being rebound successfully - I can see my changed data.. I just don't know why its complaining about viewstate when I click on the linkbutton. Or is there a better way to update the data in my listview? My listview and formview are bound to objectdata sources (in case that matters) Thanks for the help!

  • ffmpeg - How to determine if -movflags faststart is enabled? PHP

    - by IIIOXIII
While I am able to encode an mp4 file which I can plan on my local windows machine, I am having trouble encoding files to mp4 which are readable when streaming by safari, etc. After a bit of reading, I believe my issue is that I must move the metadata from the end of the file to the beginning in order for the converted mp4 files to be streamable. To that end, I am trying to find out if the build of ffmpeg that I am currently using is able to use the -movflags faststart option through php - as my current outputted mp4 files are not working when streamed online. This is the way I am now echoing the -help, -formats, -codecs, but I am not seeing anything about -movflags faststart in any of the lists: exec($ffmpegPath." -help", $codecArr); for($ii=0;$ii<count($codecArr);$ii++){ echo $codecArr[$ii].'</br>'; } Is there a similar method of determining if -movflags fastart is available to my ffmpeg build? Any other way? Should it be listed with any of the previously suggested commands? -help/-formats? Can someone that knows it is enabled in their version of ffmpeg check to see if it is listed under -help or -formats, etc.? TIA. • Calculate year for end date: PostgreSQL

    - by Dave Jarvis
Background Users can pick dates as shown in the following screen shot: Any starting month/day and ending month/day combinations are valid, such as: Mar 22 to Jun 22 Dec 1 to Feb 28 The second combination is difficult (I call it the "tricky date scenario") because the year for the ending month/day is before the year for the starting month/day. That is to say, for the year 1900 (also shown selected in the screen shot above), the full dates would be: Dec 22, 1900 to Feb 28, 1901 Dec 22, 1901 to Feb 28, 1902 ... Dec 22, 2007 to Feb 28, 2008 Dec 22, 2008 to Feb 28, 2009 Problem Writing a SQL statement that selects values from a table with dates that fall between the start month/day and end month/day, regardless of how the start and end days are selected. In other words, this is a year wrapping problem. Inputs The query receives as parameters: Year1, Year2: The full range of years, independent of month/day combination. Month1, Day1: The starting day within the year to gather data. Month2, Day2: The ending day within the year (or the next year) to gather data. Previous Attempt Consider the following MySQL code (that worked): end_year = start_year + greatest( -1 * sign( datediff( date( concat_ws('-', year, end_month, end_day ) ), date( concat_ws('-', year, start_month, start_day ) ) ) ), 0 ) How it works, with respect to the tricky date scenario: Create two dates in the current year. The first date is Dec 22, 1900 and the second date is Feb 28, 1900. Count the difference, in days, between the two dates. If the result is negative, it means the year for the second date must be incremented by 1. In this case: Add 1 to the current year. Create a new end date: Feb 28, 1901. Check to see if the date range for the data falls between the start and calculated end date. If the result is positive, the dates have been provided in chronological order and nothing special needs to be done. This worked in MySQL because the difference in dates would be positive or negative. In PostgreSQL, the equivalent functionality always returns a positive number, regardless of their relative chronological order. Question How should the following (broken) code be rewritten for PostgreSQL to take into consideration the relative chronological order of the starting and ending month/day pairs (with respect to an annual temporal displacement)? SELECT m.amount FROM measurement m WHERE (extract(MONTH FROM m.taken) >= month1 AND extract(DAY FROM m.taken) >= day1) AND (extract(MONTH FROM m.taken) <= month2 AND extract(DAY FROM m.taken) <= day2) Any thoughts, comments, or questions? (The dates are pre-parsed into MM/DD format in PHP. My preference is for a pure PostgreSQL solution, but I am open to suggestions on what might make the problem simpler using PHP.) Versions PostgreSQL 8.4.4 and PHP 5.2.10

  • Problem deploying Rails with Passenger to Mac OS X Leopard Server

    - by Meltemi
I'm spinning my wheels... Apache is working and serving static html, png, etc. normally. Trying to get Passenger to serve a rails app out of www.mydomain.com/rails/ as it stands when i try to hit my app: www.mydomain.com/rails/myapp/railsclassname I get only an Apache 403 Errors. Nothing in myapp's Production Log. • XML Postback issue

    - by Mikey1980
    I have a script that is designed to parse XML postbacks from Ultracart, right now just dumps it into a MySQL table. The script works fine if I point it to a XML file on my localhost but using 'php://input' it doesn't seem to grabbing anything. My logs show apache returning 200 after the post so I have no idea what could be wrong or how to drill down the issue.. here's the code: $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->loadXML($page); $handle = fopen("test2/".time().".xml", "w+"); fwrite($handle,trim($page)); // it doesn't save this either :'( fclose(); require_once('includes/database.php'); $db = new Database('localhost', 'user', 'password', 'db_name'); $data = array(); $exports = $doc->getElementsByTagName("export"); foreach ($exports as $export) { $orders = $export->getElementsByTagName("order"); foreach($orders as $order) { $data['order_id'] = $order->getElementsByTagName("order_id")->item(0)->nodeValue; $data['payment_status'] = $order->getElementsByTagName("payment_status")->item(0)->nodeValue; $date_array = explode(" ",$order->getElementsByTagName("payment_date_time")->item(0)->nodeValue); if ($date_array[1] == 'JAN') { $date_array[1] = '01'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'FEB') { $date_array[1] = '02'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'MAR') { $date_array[1] = '03'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'APR') { $date_array[1] = '04'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'MAY') { $date_array[1] = '05'; } // converts Ultracart date to if ($date_array[1] == 'JUN') { $date_array[1] = '06'; } // MySQL date if ($date_array[1] == 'JUL') { $date_array[1] = '07'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'AUG') { $date_array[1] = '08'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'SEP') { $date_array[1] = '09'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'OCT') { $date_array[1] = '10'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'NOV') { $date_array[1] = '11'; } if ($date_array[1] == 'DEC') { $date_array[1] = '12'; } $data['payment_date'] = $date_array[2]."-".$date_array[1]."-".$date_array[0]; $data['payment_time'] = $date_array[3]; //... we'll skip this, there are 80 some elements $data['discount'] = $order->getElementsByTagName("discount")->item(0)->nodeValue; $data['distribution_center_code'] = $order->getElementsByTagName("distribution_center_code")->item(0)->nodeValue; } } } $db->insert('order_history',$data); } else die('ERROR: Token Check Failed!');

  • Installing Enclosure with Netbeans

    - by jdknewb
Hi all, I am having trouble installing Enclosure and getting it to work. I have followed this guide http://www.enclojure.org/gettingstarted and successfully installed Enclosure (I think). However, when I try to build the sample application (labrepl) I get a bunch of errors and a failed build. I haven't used Java in a long time and I've never used Netbeans, and the error doesn't seem very helpful with my limited knowledge of this domain. • derby + hibernate ConstraintViolationException using manytomany relationships

    - by user364470
Hi, I'm new to Hibernate+Derby... I've seen this issue mentioned throughout the google, but have not seen a proper resolution. This following code works fine with mysql, but when I try this on derby i get exceptions: ( each Tag has two sets of files and vise-versa - manytomany) Tags.java @Entity @Table(name="TAGS") public class Tags implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Files.class ) @ForeignKey(name="USER_TAGS_FILES",inverseName="USER_FILES_TAGS") @JoinTable(name="USERTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID")) public Set<data.Files> getUserFiles() { return userFiles; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="autoTags", targetEntity=data.Files.class) public Set<data.Files> getAutoFiles() { return autoFiles; } Files.java @Entity @Table(name="FILES") public class Files implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="userFiles", targetEntity=data.Tags.class) public Set getUserTags() { return userTags; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Tags.class ) @ForeignKey(name="AUTO_FILES_TAGS",inverseName="AUTO_TAGS_FILES") @JoinTable(name="AUTOTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID")) public Set getAutoTags() { return autoTags; } I add some data to the DB, but when running over Derby these exception turn up (the don't using mysql) Exceptions SEVERE: DELETE on table 'FILES' caused a violation of foreign key constraint 'USER_FILES_TAGS' for key (3). The statement has been rolled back. Jun 10, 2010 9:49:52 AM org.hibernate.event.def.AbstractFlushingEventListener performExecutions SEVERE: Could not synchronize database state with session org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: could not delete: [data.Files#3] at org.hibernate.exception.SQLStateConverter.convert(SQLStateConverter.java:96) at org.hibernate.exception.JDBCExceptionHelper.convert(JDBCExceptionHelper.java:66) at org.hibernate.persister.entity.AbstractEntityPersister.delete(AbstractEntityPersister.java:2712) at org.hibernate.persister.entity.AbstractEntityPersister.delete(AbstractEntityPersister.java:2895) at org.hibernate.action.EntityDeleteAction.execute(EntityDeleteAction.java:97) at org.hibernate.engine.ActionQueue.execute(ActionQueue.java:268) at org.hibernate.engine.ActionQueue.executeActions(ActionQueue.java:260) at org.hibernate.engine.ActionQueue.executeActions(ActionQueue.java:184) at org.hibernate.event.def.AbstractFlushingEventListener.performExecutions(AbstractFlushingEventListener.java:321) at org.hibernate.event.def.DefaultFlushEventListener.onFlush(DefaultFlushEventListener.java:51) at org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl.flush(SessionImpl.java:1206) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:57) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:613) at org.hibernate.context.ThreadLocalSessionContext$TransactionProtectionWrapper.invoke(ThreadLocalSessionContext.java:344) at $Proxy13.flush(Unknown Source) at data.HibernateORM.removeFile(HibernateORM.java:285) at data.DataImp.removeFile(DataImp.java:195) at booting.DemoBootForTestUntilTestClassesExist.main(DemoBootForTestUntilTestClassesExist.java:62) I have never used derby before so maybe there is something crutal that i'm missing 1) what am I doing wrong? 2) is there any way of cascading properly when I have 2 many-to-many relationships between two classes? Thanks!

  • MVC Entity Framework Model not returning correct data

    - by quagland
Hi, Run into a strange problem while writing an ASP.NET MVC site. I have a view in my SQL Server database that returns a few date ranges. The view works fine when running the query in SSMS. When the view data is returned by the Entity Framework Model, It returns the correct number of rows but some of the rows are duplicated. Here is an example of what I have done: SQL Server code: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[A]( [ID] [int] NOT NULL, [PhID] [int] NULL, [FromDate] [datetime] NULL, [ToDate] [datetime] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_A] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([ID] ASC)) ON [PRIMARY] go CREATE TABLE [dbo].[B]( [PhID] [int] NOT NULL, [FromDate] [datetime] NULL, [ToDate] [datetime] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_B] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [PhID] ASC )) ON [PRIMARY] go CREATE VIEW C as SELECT A.ID, CASE WHEN A.PhID IS NULL THEN A.FromDate ELSE B.FromDate END AS FromDate, CASE WHEN A.PhID IS NULL THEN A.ToDate ELSE B.ToDate END AS ToDate FROM A LEFT OUTER JOIN B ON A.PhID = B.PhID go INSERT INTO B (PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (100, '20100615', '20100715') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (1, NULL, '20100101', '20100201') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (1, 100, '20100615', '20100715') INSERT INTO B (PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (101, '20101201', '20101231') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (2, NULL, '20100801', '20100901') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (2, 101, '20101201', '20101231') So now, if you select all from C, you get 4 separate date ranges In the Entity Framework Model (which I call 'Core'), the view 'C' is added. in MVC Controller: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { CoreEntities db = new CoreEntities(); var clist = from c in db.C select c; return View(clist.ToList()); } } in MVC View: @model List<RM.Models.C> @{ foreach (RM.Models.C c in Model) { @String.Format("{0:dd-MMM-yyyy}", c.FromDate) <span>-</span> @String.Format("{0:dd-MMM-yyyy}", c.ToDate) <br /> } } When I run all this, it outputs this: 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 When it should do this (this is what the view returns): 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 15-Jun-2010 - 15-Jul-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 01-Dec-2010 - 31-Dec-2010 Also, I've run the SQL profiler over it and according to that, the query being executed is: SELECT [Extent1].[ID] AS [ID], [Extent1].[FromDate] AS [FromDate], [Extent1].[ToDate] AS [ToDate] FROM (SELECT [C].[ID] AS [ID], [C].[FromDate] AS [FromDate], [C].[ToDate] AS [ToDate] FROM [dbo].[C] AS [C]) AS [Extent1] Which returns the correct data So it seems that the entity framework is doing something to the data in the meantime. To me, everything looks fine! Have I missed something? Cheers, Ben

  • Can sorting Japanese kanji words be done programatically?

    - by Mason
I've recently discovered, to my astonishment (having never really thought about it before), machine-sorting Japanese proper nouns is apparently not possible. I work on an application that must allow the user to select a hospital from a 3-menu interface. The first menu is Prefecture, the second is City Name, and the third is Hospital. Each menu should be sorted, as you might expect, so the user can find what they want in the menu. Let me outline what I have found, as preamble to my question: The expected sort order for Japanese words is based on their pronunciation. Kanji do not have an inherent order (there are tens of thousands of Kanji in use), but the Japanese phonetic syllabaries do have an order: ???????????????????... and on for the fifty traditional distinct sounds (a few of which are obsolete in modern Japanese). This sort order is called ???? (gojuu on jun , or '50-sound order'). Therefore, Kanji words should be sorted in the same order as they would be if they were written in hiragana. (You can represent any kanji word in phonetic hiragana in Japanese.) The kicker: there is no canonical way to determine the pronunciation of a given word written in kanji. You never know. Some kanji have ten or more different pronunciations, depending on the word. Many common words are in the dictionary, and I could probably hack together a way to look them up from one of the free dictionary databases, but proper nouns (e.g. hospital names) are not in the dictionary. So, in my application, I have a list of every prefecture, city, and hospital in Japan. In order to sort these lists, which is a requirement, I need a matching list of each of these names in phonetic form (kana). I can't come up with anything other than paying somebody fluent in Japanese (I'm only so-so) to manually transcribe them. Before I do so though: Is it possible that I am totally high on fire, and there actually is some way to do this sorting without creating my own mappings of kanji words to phonetic readings, that I have somehow overlooked? Is there a publicly available mapping of prefecture/city names, from the government or something? That would reduce the manual mapping I'd need to do to only hospital names. Does anybody have any other advice on how to approach this problem? Any programming language is fine--I'm working with Ruby on Rails but I would be delighted if I could just write a program that would take the kanji input (say 40,000 proper nouns) and then output the phonetic representations as data that I could import into my Rails app. ??????????
