    I have a sharepoint insfrastructure where a document library is made available both locally and on the internet. I have a few web front end servers facing the public (in the DMZ) while having another set inside the secured network for internal use. I also have an application server for sharepoint services inside the secured network. My goal is to configure sharepoint in such a way that the sharepoint services are available only locally and not via the internet. The users accessing the system online should not benefit of the sharepoint services. Is this possible on the same farm?

  • Bound external Cisco CIGESM ports to a specific BladeServer

    We have an IBM BladeCenter with 14 blade servers and one external Cisco CIGESM for Ethernet connectivity. Since this hardware is a little old, we will use it for other services, and we want to run a pfSense instance on one of the blades. It's just an Firewall Appliance, but it needs two network interfaces: one for the WAN and the other one for LAN access. Our architecture works on top of static routes, we don't use NAT, so we got the WAN IP in one interface routing to the another one. The main problem is how to plug the WAN cable in one of the four external ports and make it exclusive to the blade server containing the firewall. And we also need an exit port that goes through a 3COM 4200G switch that makes the internal routing and VLAN separation. Thanks in advance

We have created all users and different groups as follows: dn: dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local ou: people dn: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=server,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=geo,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local dn: cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local member: uid=user,ou=people,dc=ldapserver,dc=local We need scenario in such a way that the users that are member of server need only login to server (that is geo) and users that are member of website need only login to websites (That is user “user”). Please let me know how we can configure it. For login site we tried by giving DN as cn=website,ou=groups,dc=ldapserver,dc=local and Login Attribute as uid and also member but it is not working. Can anyone please help us on it. Also please let us know is there any other option for accomplish this scenario. Thanks Geo

  • servers connected to a poweredge 6248 receive traffic for their 'neighbours'

    In the network we have a few vlans but at the moment I was investigating vlan2 which carries the most traffic. When tcpdumping on the eth0.2 interface, I see a lot of packets arriving which are not addressed to, nor coming from the server. I checked this on several servers in the network and they all have the same issues. In short, our switches don't switch the traffic but threat it like they are a hub. Can you tell me what settings on the dell poweredge 6248 should prevent this behaviour?

  • Map ftp servers as network drives in Ubuntu Linux

    Hi everybody! I'm a new Linux user, just switched over from Windows. I've got a couple FTP servers I connect to on a regular basis through sftp. I was wondering if there was a way to, as we say in windows, map them as network drives in Linux, so I can just copy stuff into a drive or folder and it will just map it to the server by ftp. That would be pretty cool. Anybody know how this would be possible, and how to do it? I Can't see to find anything in the literature. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04. Thanks!

  • how to manage credentials/access to multiple ssh servers

    I would like to make a script which can maintain multiple servers via SSH. I want to control the authentication/authorization in such a manner that authentication is done by gateway and any other access is routed through this ssh server to internal services without any further authentication/authorization requirements. So if a user A can log into server_1 for example. He can then ssh to server_2 without any other authentication and do what ever he is allowed to do on server_2 (like shut down mysql, upgrade it and restart it. This could be done via some remote shell script). The problem that I am trying to solve is to come up with a deployment script for a JavaEE system which involves databases and tomcat instances. They need to be shutdown and re-spawned. The requirement is to have a deployment script which has minimal human interaction as possible for both developers and operation.

  • Download or view a servers wins database

    I am trying to troubleshoot a WINS browsing problem in a Server 2008 AD Forest. I am in one domain and the problem is with a sibling domain. What command can i use to dump or view the WINS database on a particular AD server by name, in a different domain than me? I thought one of the subcommands of net would have an option for this, but I can't find it. I also tried browstat.exe getblist but it gives me an error message "The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available". I am not a domain admin and don't have any rights to the either domain other than a normal user. Anyone know how this can be done?

    hello, here is the details: theres is who "servers": VPS with ubuntu 10.10x32 and home pc, win7 on win7 apatche2.2 is running with webpage on VPS game server is running DNS forwards www subdomain to PC, and everything else to VPS (all via ip) I can not configure DNS directly, my providers do Wanted result: DNS forwards everything to VPS, VPS redirects *:80 to PC when viewing page stored in PC domain is shown normaly Questions: How to achieve that using as minimal resources as possible? Is it possible just tel my DNS provider to fix it that :80 port is in different ip? P.S. its for my friend, i do have some apatche and VDS configuration exp. More of a programmer i am. so trow everything you can ;)

    I am currently in the process of creating a home server, made up of several virtual machines, each running a different type of server (i.e. a file server, a multimedia server, a firewall and a print server as of now). Today I discovered this new software, Zentyal, which looks interesting for system and network administration. However, I haven't understood one thing: can it be used only with its preconfigured packages or can it also be used to control other servers running other programs (in my case, the four virtual machines)?. Also, would you suggest to use such a program or do you think it's better to control each server on its own?

  • WSUS Looping 2 updates on 2003 servers

    Good afternoon, Hopefully I can articulate this so that people understand my problem. We have WSUS on windows server 2008. We have 8 Windows 2003 servers. There is an update ready to install KB2982792. We install it then it says there is another update to install KB2728973. Then it says there is another update to install, again KB2982792. This goes on and on. Talked to microsoft support and they confirmed that the update was infact installed and applied to the computer (Checking untrusted certifactions confirmed that for these updates) and their suggestion was to just "Hide update". This is fine except on the WSUS server it still shows failed updates which is not okay with our policy. I'm here to ask for help figuring this out and what I can do to trouble shoot it.     I'm on my way into work at 9.30 pm on a Sunday because our server has been compromised somehow and was resulting in a DOS attack on our provider. The servers access to the Internet has been shut down which means over 5-600 of our clients sites are now down. Now this could be an FTP hack, or some weakness in code somewhere I'm not sure till j get there. Does anyone have any tips on how I can track this down quickly. Were in for a whole lot of litigation if I dont get the server back up asap. Any help appreciated.

    we have our exchange server 2007 (10.10.2.11) at work with domain "dddddd.com" and ironport and it work just fine! we need to test some thing at work with Exchange 2010 !! so we came up with this idea: we created a locked network and install firewall (10.10.2.88) the locked network has it's own DC and Exchange servers! we used the domain "dddddd.loc" any way it will be deleted! IPs DC 10.0.0.1 EX 10.0.0.11 now the Exchange server up and running in the firewall (10.10.2.88) we opened the ports and forwarded it to the Exchange2010 (10.0.0.11) in our main DC we defined the zone dddddd.loc to the firewall and the MX records as well but when we test we get error now how to make it so that the 2010 will send email directly to the 2007 (we will not use it to more that that)? and the 2007 will send the email to 2010 if the email has the domain dddddd.loc ?

  • APC UPS-5000 Power off remote servers

    Hi there, I have a UPS connected via the serial port to a server using PowerChute Business Edition. If a power outage occurs I would like this server to start shutting down all other servers within the network. Is there dedicated software to do this? I was thinking of creating a command file which runs a .bat file to run shut down commands to each server (using PSExec). I can set PowerChute to run this command file when a power failure occurs. Is there not anything APC provide which has this functionality and is more efficient than writing a .bat file to do this? Thanks,

    We have 2 servers. One is old server and another is the new one. Currently we about doing a migration because the old server is not capable enough to handle everyday requests. The specs are: Old server Ubuntu 10.04 Nginx as Reverse Proxy Apache WSGI Python/Django New Server Ubuntu 10.04 Nginx Gunicorn Python/Django Celery+Redis Our manager asked us to research if the old server can perform multiple forwarding to all incoming request, for example, set Nginx of old server to forward all request to both old and new server. The purpose is to perform unit testing to new server using old server as comparer, see if the new server is ready to take over the role. Please help, if there is an idea, or must install some engine, or what we do is impossible. Many thanks.

  • New Servers Active Directory and Exchange

    I have 3 Dell PowerEdge server, each with 2 quad-core processors. I am going to bring this office out of the stone-age network (P2P, share files on a flash drive, emails through Google, etc) and set up Active Directory and Exchange 2013. Our needs are not that great at the moment - our staff consists of approximately 40 people, and our network may eventually be managed by an external company. We need only one domain for our emails (though we may serve emails for a few other partners domains as well). I was thinking of setting something up like this: Server 1: Primary DC. Active Directory and Exchange on separate virtual machines. Server 2: Redundant of server 1. Server 3: Shared resources, storage, backups, etc. How would you utilize 3 servers for an Active Directory / Exchange setup for a small/medium office? We do have plans to grow, so my solution must be scalable, though I'm not sure that I want to split permissions, though I'd consider it if that was something that could be changed on down the road.

    Goodmorning. Because my client wants to keep an old server (running php-fusion) running under the same domain name as a new server (running Drupal) I have a question. Is this possible? And most importantly how would I do this?? The old server URL structure is like projectname.domain.com and the new server's URL structure is domain.com/projectname. Is this possible? To run these two servers side by side, on the same domain name- but with a different URL structure? Thank you Marco

  • ssl problems between two tomcat servers

    I've got one tomcat 7 server(kind of like a web server) trying to talk to a tomcat 6 server(acting as a document server on another machine) over ssl and keep getting this error java.security.cert.CertificateException: No name matching rarity64 found. Where rarity64 is the name of the document server. I've tried exporting keys from both tomcats keystores and importing them into the others keystores using java keytool. I've even tried adding them to the other machines cacerts keystore. I've also used internet explorer to import both keys into the other machine. But nothing I try works. If it matters the real webserver is IIS 7.5, which the tomcat "webserver" talks too with arr, and they don't use SSL. But the problem seems to between the two tomcat servers

    so i know for serving static elements (css, js, images, videos etc) you should use CDN since they are spread out throughout the world. but how could i spread out by apache servers? is there an equivalent to CDN but for dynamical pages? or is it the traditional LAMP way. if so, i guess my best option is to find an international hosting provider that hosts in different countries, so the content will be served from the country located nearest the client machine. any suggestions of such hosting providers? or is it best practice to contact different hosting providers in different countries that do not relate to each other. what is the right way to go?

  • Connections to Cotendo CDN servers are unreliable

    I've been having a lot of trouble viewing certain websites - Gawker Media, DeviantArt, etc. - and through further investigation they all appear to be using a CDN called Cotendo. On my machine, and only this one, connections reset themselves midway through the download most of the time. This is not browser-specific; even wget (Cygwin) is unable to download anything without retrying a few times. This happens inside virtual machines as well. Unfortunately, I'm pretty stumped on why this is happening. My hosts file is empty (except for a couple LAN-specific things) and I've checked a few different DNS servers, but I can't really think of anything else to try. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello, I did some googling but was unsuccessful, so I am posting here. I am looking to get an app (preferably free/open source) to monitor my servers on port 80 that would send me an email/text when some predefined timeout triggers. I could probably write something in VB to do this but i am burried with projects, why reinvent the wheel. I know there are services out there that want you to pay $5/month to do so, I was thinking about a Windows app that would sit on my computer and simply monitor predefined list of IPs on port 80.     I have a tblMachineReports with the columns: Status(varchar),LogDate(datetime),Category(varchar), and MachineID(int). I want to retrieve the latest status update from each category for every machine, so in effect getting a snapshot of the latest statuses of all the machines unique to their MachineID. The table data would look like Category - Status - MachineID - LogDate cata - status1 - 001 - date1 cata - status2 - 002 - date2 catb - status3 - 001 - date2 catc - status2 - 002 - date4 cata - status3 - 001 - date5 catc - status1 - 001 - date6 catb - status2 - 001 - date7 cata - status2 - 002 - date8 catb - status2 - 002 - date9 catc - status2 - 001 - date10 Restated, I have multiple machines reporting on multiple statuses in this tblMachineReports. All the rows are created through inserts, so their will obviously be duplicate entries for machines as new statuses come in. None of the columns can be predicted, so I can't do any ='some hard coded string' comparisons in any part of the select statement. For the sample table I provided, the desired results would look like: Category - Status - MachineID - LogDate catc - status2 - 002 - date4 cata - status3 - 001 - date5 catb - status2 - 001 - date7 cata - status2 - 002 - date8 catb - status2 - 002 - date9 catc - status2 - 001 - date10 What would the select statement look like to achieve this, getting the latest status for each category on each machine, using MS SQL Server 2008? I have tried different combinations of subqueries combined with aggregate MAX(LogDates)'s, along with joins, group bys, distincts, and what-not, but have yet to find a working solution.

  • Two Linked CSS Files Not working

It doesn't work at all. If we add a @import into main.css OR into the header instead of a it works fine though. Any ideas? We also got rid of the media="screens" on both as well. The CSS inside of it is working fine, it's just when we stack those two, the first one parsed is the only one read by the browser. So if we swap main below custom, custom than works but NONE of main works. and custom just has snippet of CSS, and doesn't override all the CSS in main, just 1 element. I can't figure it out! We have other ed stylesheets in the head (which we took out for trying to fix this) and they worked fine...

  • Adding Polynomials (Linked Lists)......Bug Help

    I have written a program that creates nodes that in this class are parts of polynomials and then the two polynomials get added together to become one polynomial (list of nodes). All my code compiles so the only problem I am having is that the nodes are not inserting into the polynomial via the insert method I have in polynomial.java and when running the program it does create nodes and displays them in the 2x^2 format but when it comes to add the polynomials together it displays o as the polynomials, so if anyone can figure out whats wrong and what I can do to fix it it would be much appreciated.
