  • Action Controller: Exception - ID not found

    Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase. Presentation Layer (PL) - contains all the html My Codes Layer (CL) - has all my code Entity Layer (EL) - has all the container entities Business Logic Layer (BLL) - has the necessary business logic Data Logic Layer (DLL) - any logic against data Data Access Layer (DAL) - one that accesses data from the database Now i want to provide error handling in my DLL since it is responsible for executing statement like ExecureScalar and all.... And i am confused as to how to go about it...i mean do i catch the error in the DLL and throw it back to the BLL and from there throw it back to my code or what.... can any one please help me how do i implement a clean and easy error handling techinque help you be really appreciated.     Hey folks, I'm currently developing a site in Joomla, and one of the components I'm using makes use of a PHP file to administer the language. (english.php, spanish.php) The problem I'm having is that if I use the plain text version of eg. "á", it will show up in the browser tab title ok, but as a ? in the body of the page. But if I use a character reference (&#225;), the reverse happens! Any ideas? Thanks bren

  • Writing to a java socket channel which should be closed does not generate an exception

    Hi all, We have a java server that keeps a socket channel open with an Android client in order to provide push capabilities to our client application. However, after putting the Android in airplane mode, which I expected would sever the connection, the server can still write to the SocketChannel object associated with that Android client and no error is thrown. Calling SocketChannel.isConnected() before writing to it returns true. What are we missing? Is the handling of sockets different with mobile devices? Thanks in advance for your help.

    I work with Zend Framework a lot and I just took a peek at Kohana, and it strikes me as odd that this is a typical scenario in these frameworks: throw Some_Componenents_Exception( 'invalid argument' ); Where I believe this wouldn't be mouch more useful: throw Some_Components_InvalidArgumentException( 'whatever discription' ); Because it is easier to catch. I suspect, but immediately admit it's prejudiced, that the former practice is common in the PHP community. Should we, the PHP community, start using these descriptive types of expections more?

    When I do ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem, I don't want unhandled exceptions to kill my entire process. So I do something like: ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem(delegate() { try { FunctionIActuallyWantToCall(); } catch { HandleException(); } }); Is this the recommended pattern? It seems like there should be a simpler way to do this. It's in an asp.net-mvc app, if that's relevant.

  • Profile:Object reference not set to an instance of an object

    Hi, i just lunch my web site i used the asp.net routing technology on it, and its work fine in my localhost but when i moved the project to the hosting server(Godaddy.com) its just work fine when there is no virtual sub directories like this(havebreak.com) but when u click on this link (havebreak.com/Registration/) or any other links that contain a virtual sub-directories its give Object reference not set to an instance of an object error on the profile object if (!Profile.IsAnonymous) Line 18: mlvRegistratioin.ActiveViewIndex = 1; i check my IIS settings and found it using the "Integrated pipeline" as recommended (at least at my knowledge), i checked the httpModules and httpHandlers tags under the system.webServer (since my hosting plan use the IIS7) and under the normal tag and every thing is fine then i used the url-rewriting instead of URL-Routing and the same problem exist and i notice that the session also not working in the virtual sub-directories too and by the way the ASP.NET routing work fine with my site its just the profile and session objects that not workin any help will be appreciated

    In the following code, the stack-based variable 'ex' is thrown and caught in a function beyond the scope in which ex was declared. This seems a bit strange to me, since (AFAIK) stack-based variables cannot be used outside the scope in which they were declared (the stack is unwound). void f() { SomeKindOfException ex(...); throw ex; } void g() { try { f(); } catch (SomeKindOfException& ex) { //Handling code... } } I've added a print statement to SomeKindOfException's destructor and it shows that ex is destructed once it goes out of scope in f() but then it's caught in g() and destructed again once it goes out of scope there as well. Any help?

    I want to pass a reference type by value to a method in C#. Is there a way to do it. In C++, I could always rely on the copy constructor to come into play if I wanted to pass by Value. Is there any way in C# except: 1. Explicitly creating a new object 2. Implementing IClonable and then calling Clone method. Here's a small example: Let's take a class A in C++ which implements a copy constructor. A method func1(Class a), I can call it by saying func1(objA) (Automatically creates a copy) Does anything similar exist in C#. By the way, I'm using Visual Studio 2005.

    Is it valid to store the return value of an object in a reference? class A { ... }; A myFunction() { A myObject; return A; } //myObject goes out of scope here void mySecondFunction() { A& mySecondObject = myFunction(); } Is it possible to do this in order to avoid copying myObject to mySecondObject? myObject is not needed anymore and should be exactly the same as mySecondObject so it would in theory be faster just to pass ownership of the object from one object to another. (This is also possible using boost shared pointer but that has the overhead of the shared pointer.) Thanks in advance.

    Hello, guys! I have some User model, Role model and Assignment model to manage role-based user system. Just like here . So, here some kind of code, to include roles into users form: <% for role in Role.all %> <%= check_box_tag "user[role_ids][]", role.id, @user.roles.include?(role) %> <%=h role.name %><br /> <% end %> And all's working fine for new records and for editing records. But I just want to make possible to restrict deleting Assigment with id=1, cause this Assignment for default root user from migration, who must be admin anyway. Otherwise, I can lose my last admin. So I've tryed to add before_destroy to Assignment.rb model, but it doesn't work. I've noticed, that when I'm editing user and trying to remove his admin role(assignment), the server makes a delete_all method, not destroy method. So, does anybody know how to catch the deleting of Assignment with id=1 through this kind of code? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I am trying to use the NDK 5 full C++ gnustl: sources/cxx-stl/gnu-libstdc++/README states: This implementation fully supports C++ exceptions and RTTI. But all attempts using exceptions fail. An alternative NDK exists on http://www.crystax.net/android/ndk-r4.php. Even the hello-jni example from that site does not work. Compliation works after creating an Application.xml with APP_STL := gnustl_static But it dies the same horrific death as my own experiments. Am I am missing something or is the statement in the README just plain wrong?
