  64-bit Office installs 64-bit IFilters for its document types, but does not install 32-bit IFilters. Therefore, 32-bit programs that rely on IFilters cannot work with 64-bit Office. And although there is an option to download 32-bit IFilters from Microsoft, the installer will not run on a 64-bit machine, complaining about architecture mismatch. Is there any way to make 32-bit programs extract text from Office documents using IFilters when 64-bit Office is installed? Thanks.

  A program has installed c:/windows/syswow64/msxml4.dll on my hard drive. Sadly this is an old version (4.30.2100.0) with a security problem therefore I really wants to remove the file and the program that installed it. MSXML4 is not in the list of programs that I can uninstall under "Programs and features". Is there a way to find the program that installed it in windows 8.1? Hope some of you can help.

  I have a CD that I would like to generate a BIN file from (with a CUE file to accompany it). I used ImgBurn and UltraISO to to generate two BIN files. However, I have found out that BIN files generated by these programs are not identical (different file size). So, what is the difference between the BIN file formats and which one should I use to backup CD? The same applies to ISO file generation by these two programs - file size does not match.

• How do I stop Ubuntu from hanging due to processes going into 'disk sleep'?

  I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit on an AMD. It regularly hangs for a few minutes at a time when some of the processes's CPU usage % goes into 'disk sleep'. During that time I can't start new programs and most of the programs on the desktop become unresponsive. I would rather it didn't hang and my applications remained reliably responsive. Why does this happen and how can I stop it?

  This particular problem has little do with SubVersion Repositories and more to do with the management of installed programs. My question revolves around the problem of installing a program from source. If I where to build a distro with no package management system what possibilities would I have for maintaining the program is up to date. My only idea would be to keep a record of all the programs installed from source and perform a periodic check to identify if a new version is out.

  I want to record a keyboard/mouse macro for automatically playing repetitive flash games. The programs I'm familiar with xnee/gnee/pnee and xmacro don't work under Ubuntu 10.04. (Xnee gives "Xnee failed due to bad data received from RECORD extension" for version 3.02, which is a known issue which I haven't found a solution for, and xmacro just plain doesn't work...) However, when I right-click on a file, and select Send to Mail recipient I get a message box saying:There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Is there a way to get this action working with Mail?

But when archiving a folder containing already compressed files, there is no need to compress them a second time, such as archives, packed setup program, jpg, movies, mp3,.... I need to install a specific program (which fits in my system requirements), which is bundled with a number of other programs on an DVD.   Is there a way to configure Internet Explorer's "Open links from other programs in:" option per program? I'm looking for a way to allow different programs to act differently when clicking hyperlinks. For example, if I click a hyperlink in Microsoft Outlook I'd prefer it to open a new tab in the current window (option 2) but if I click a link out of an instant messenger program I'd prefer it to open in the current tab or window (option 3).   In native development, you can produce libraries - .so, .dll etc - that other libraries and programs can share. In Java, you can put your code in a JAR in the classpath and other programs and libraries can use it. So how can you do modular programs in Android? I get the impression from the documentation that each APK is a self-contained island. Can different APKs share code? And how does installation work when you have these external dependencies? Can you specify that you rely on library that is not in your APK and get it installed too? If you can't have 'dynamic linking', can you have 'static linking' by developing your shared code and somehow putting the equiv of a JAR into each APK that requires it?

• Images saved with D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile will open in Paint, not Photoshop

  I'm using D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile to save windowed Direct3D 9 surfaces to PNG, BMP and JPG files. There are no errors returned from the D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile call and all files open fine in Windows Photo Viewer and Paint. But they will not open in a higher end image editing program such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. The error messages from these programs basically say that the file is corrupted. If I open the files in Paint and then save them in the same file format with a different file name, then they'll open fine in the other programs. This leads me to believe that D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile is writing out non-standard versions of these file formats. Is there some way I can get this function to write out files that can be opened in programs like Photoshop without the intermediate step of resaving the files in Paint? Or is there another function I should be using that does a better job of saving a Direct3D surfaces to an image?

  Hi, How can I create two CCK fields where the latter has values based on the first selection? In my case I have a few programs which can be selected and then projects that are related to programs. I need to have two separate fields for them. Example: Programs: Program1 Program2 Projects: Project1 (related to Program1) Project2 (related to Program2) Project3 (related to Program2) If program "Program1" is selected, then the user should only be able to select "Project1" and in case of "Program2" is selected, the options should be "Project2" or "Project3". I'm using Drupal 6.20 and I've already tried using Conditional Fields and Computed Fields modules, but they don't really solve my problem. Any help is much appreciated!

• Webserver for publishing adjusted images

  I want to create webserver which will be receiving data (images probably) from webclients who will be uploading these photos. And then the webserver must execute some graphic programs (client select whichone) to modify the image(s). After the graphic program is done, the results (output image(s)) will be uploaded to the web temp database (by webserver) to publish results of graphic programs. I found the C++ web toolkit (http://www.webtoolkit.eu), but I'm not sure if this is a suitable C/C++ library for me because I haven't any experiences with making C/C++ web apps/servers. Can someone tell me some advice please? The webserver should have some SDK too, for adding next graphic programs. I'm searching only for any C/C++ tools/libraries/etc.

  I'm getting really tired of working against click-once and I'm wondering if there's a better alternative. I'm looking for a programming environment that preferably does not depend on the .net framework. I'm not sure how much .net does for me exactly (though I have some idea) but I'd like to make my programs as independent of downloading a microsoft or other framework. I often think of professional programs like itunes, gimp or firefox that don't require someone to have a .net framwork. I'd also like to have these programs work on windows mac and linux.   I have two questions: How to hide cursor for all programs? I tried to hide the cursor by using ShowCursor, but it only works in my program. The cursor still appears when moving cursor outside of my program. How to disable mouse operations for all programs? I use SetWindowsHookEx to hook mouse and prevent other programs to processing the mouse operations. I can hook the clicks, but the problem is that I can't hook the "move". When I move the mouse to menu or system buttons ("minimize/restore/close"), they are highlighted. This means they can still "see" the mouse. Can anyone help me please?
