  • mysqld crashes on any statement

    - by ??iu
I restarted my slave to change configuration settings to skip reverse hostname lookup on connecting and to enable the slow query log. I edited /etc/my.cnf making only these changes, then restarted mysqld with /etc/init.d/mysql restart All appeared to be well but when I connect to msyqld remotely or locally though it connects okay a slight problem is that mysqld crashes whenever you try to issue any kind of statement. • Can't setup 3 nodes MongoDB recplica set

    - by Victor Lin
I just follow instructions in MongoDB document Replica Sets - Basics to setup a 3-node Replica set. Everything goes fine when I do the initiate and add first node in the primary. [foo@host-a mongodb]$ bin/mongo localhost MongoDB shell version: 1.8.2 connecting to: localhost > rs.initiate() { "info2" : "no configuration explicitly specified -- making one", "info" : "Config now saved locally. Should come online in about a minute.", "ok" : 1 } > rs.add("host-b") { "ok" : 1 } So far so good, but when I try to add third node myset:PRIMARY> rs.addArb("host-c") Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 MessagingPort recv() errno:104 Connection reset by peer 127.0.0.1:27017 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 SocketException: remote: error: 9001 socket exception [1] Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 DBClientCursor::init call() failed Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 query failed : local.$cmd { count: "system.replset", query: {}, fields: {} } to: 127.0.0.1 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 Error: error doing query: failed shell/collection.js:150 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 trying reconnect to 127.0.0.1 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 reconnect 127.0.0.1 ok As result, the current primary became secondary, and the host-b was marked as dead, but actually, it is still alive. myset:SECONDARY> rs.status() { "set" : "myset", "date" : ISODate("2011-08-08T04:03:23Z"), "myState" : 2, "members" : [ { "_id" : 0, "name" : "host-a:27017", "health" : 1, "state" : 2, "stateStr" : "SECONDARY", "optime" : { "t" : 1312775799000, "i" : 1 }, "optimeDate" : ISODate("2011-08-08T03:56:39Z"), "self" : true }, { "_id" : 1, "name" : "host-b", "health" : 0, "state" : 6, "stateStr" : "(not reachable/healthy)", "uptime" : 0, "optime" : { "t" : 0, "i" : 0 }, "optimeDate" : ISODate("1970-01-01T00:00:00Z"), "lastHeartbeat" : ISODate("2011-08-08T04:03:22Z"), "errmsg" : "still initializing" } ], "ok" : 1 } How could this happen? I just follow the guide in the document, did I do something wrong? Moreover, I can't do anything on current secondary server. It doesn't allow me to reconfig on the secondary node, but the problem is there is no primary node. myset:SECONDARY> rs.reconfig({}) { "errmsg" : "replSetReconfig command must be sent to the current replica set primary.", "ok" : 0 } Any ideas?

  • Failed to connect from slave to master with error "error connecting to master (1045)"

    - by Victor Lin
    I try to setup replication from slave to the master. CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST = 'master', MASTER_PORT = 3306, MASTER_USER = 'repl', MASTER_PASSWORD = 'xxx'; And I did grant privileges to the user on master. I can connect with mysql command from slave machine to the master mysql -h master -u repl -p mysql> show grants; GRANT RELOAD, SUPER, REPLICATION SLAVE, CREATE USER ON *.* TO 'repl'@'xxx' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD 'xxx' mysql> select 1; +---+ | 1 | +---+ | 1 | +---+ 1 row in set (0.04 sec) As you can see, privileges are correct, connection works fine, but however, the connection for replication to master always failed. mysql> show slave status\G *************************** 1. row *************************** Slave_IO_State: Connecting to master Master_Host: master Master_User: repl Master_Port: 3306 Connect_Retry: 60 Master_Log_File: Read_Master_Log_Pos: 4 Relay_Log_File: slave-replay-bin.000002 Relay_Log_Pos: 4 Relay_Master_Log_File: Slave_IO_Running: Connecting Slave_SQL_Running: Yes Replicate_Do_DB: Replicate_Ignore_DB: Replicate_Do_Table: Replicate_Ignore_Table: Replicate_Wild_Do_Table: Replicate_Wild_Ignore_Table: Last_Errno: 0 Last_Error: Skip_Counter: 0 Exec_Master_Log_Pos: 0 Relay_Log_Space: 107 Until_Condition: None Until_Log_File: Until_Log_Pos: 0 Master_SSL_Allowed: No Master_SSL_CA_File: Master_SSL_CA_Path: Master_SSL_Cert: Master_SSL_Cipher: Master_SSL_Key: Seconds_Behind_Master: NULL Master_SSL_Verify_Server_Cert: No Last_IO_Errno: 1045 Last_IO_Error: error connecting to master 'repl@master:3306' - retry-time: 60 retries: 86400 Last_SQL_Errno: 0 Last_SQL_Error: Replicate_Ignore_Server_Ids: Master_Server_Id: 0 1 row in set (0.00 sec) Is this caused by different version of MySQL server? • How to check for the existence of a response header in Nginx rules?

    - by Victor Welling
Setting up the rewriting rules for the request proved to be quite easy in Nginx. For the response, not so much (at least, not for me). I want to strip the Content-Type header from the response if the Content-Length header of the response isn't set. I have the NginxHttpHeadersMoreModule installed, so that should allow me to remove the header, but I can't seem to find a way to check for the existence of the Content-Length header of the response using a rule in Nginx's configuration. Any suggestions on how to do this would be most appreciated!

  • Selective Disable APC caching

    - by Victor
I installed APC on my VPS and it works great with W3 Cache wordpress plugin. My problem is that there is one database in MySQL which is pinged by client end every few seconds to see if there are new updates. These db contains certain time sensitive information and hence it can't be part of cached data. How can I disable APC for this database/files? or Can I set a very short expiry of certain type of data? Any help is highly appreciated.

  • Apache maximum request number 256?

I'm doing a load test and although I'm sending over 600 requests, the status worker keep showing this: 256 requests currently being processed, 0 idle workers I'm using 'prefork MPM' <IfModule prefork.c> ServerLimit 2048 StartServers 5 MinSpareServers 5 MaxSpareServers 10 MaxClients 1000 MaxRequestsPerChild 0 </IfModule> Is there a compiled limit for Apache to handle just 256 request or what would I be missing?

My current iptables configuration is as follows: *filter # Allows all loopback (lo0) traffic and drop all traffic to 127/8 that doesn't use lo0 -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT -A INPUT ! -i lo -d 127.0.0.0/8 -j REJECT # Accepts all established inbound connections -A INPUT -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT # Allows all outbound traffic # You can modify this to only allow certain traffic -A OUTPUT -j ACCEPT # Allows HTTP and HTTPS connections from anywhere (the normal ports for websites) -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT # Allows SSH connections # # THE -dport NUMBER IS THE SAME ONE YOU SET UP IN THE SSHD_CONFIG FILE # -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW --dport 30000 -j ACCEPT # Allow ping -A INPUT -p icmp -m icmp --icmp-type 8 -j ACCEPT # log iptables denied calls -A INPUT -m limit --limit 5/min -j LOG --log-prefix "iptables denied: " --log-level 7 # Reject all other inbound - default deny unless explicitly allowed policy -A INPUT -j REJECT -A FORWARD -j REJECT COMMIT What would I have to add in iptables to open the port? I'm trying to install phppgadmin on a different server to access the postgres database. Thank you.

  • Trouble connecting to vsftpd on ubuntu server

    - by littleK
I have installed Ubuntu Server 10.10 and I am using it to host a domain that I have. I am trying to set up FTP for the server, but I am running into some problems. I have successfully installed vsFTPd and I have opened up ports 20, 21 on my firewall. In my vsFTPd configuration, I have enabled SSL. Every time I try to connect to my server via FTP, I receive a "Connection Refused" error. I have had a little more success with SSL disabled, however the connection process will time out after the LIST command (but it does accept my authentication). Here is my vsFTPd configuration, the SSL stuff is at the bottom: # Example config file /etc/vsftpd.conf # # The default compiled in settings are fairly paranoid. This sample file # loosens things up a bit, to make the ftp daemon more usable. # Please see vsftpd.conf.5 for all compiled in defaults. # # READ THIS: This example file is NOT an exhaustive list of vsftpd options. # Please read the vsftpd.conf.5 manual page to get a full idea of vsftpd's # capabilities. # # # Run standalone? vsftpd can run either from an inetd or as a standalone # daemon started from an initscript. listen=YES # # Run standalone with IPv6? # Like the listen parameter, except vsftpd will listen on an IPv6 socket # instead of an IPv4 one. • Setting default working directory/drive in Emacs shell on Windows

    - by Victor K.
Hello, how can I change a default working directory/drive for shell in Emacs (on Windows)? Normally, shell starts in the same directory as the file in current buffer. However, when my current file is on D: drive, it starts in c:. Manually changing drive to D: in shell brings me to my directory of course, but I want to avoid this extra step. Is it possible?

  • Can't Get Virtual Users Setup in VSFTPD -Tried Everything

    - by N.T.
Have Ubuntu 11.10 with vsftpd installed and working. Can not get virtual users setup at all? Vsftpd will allow main Ubuntu owner account to login, but nothing else? I've followed several tutorials on adding virtual users, but nothing works? I just need to add 2 virtual users and have them be able to upload files to vsftpd Ubuntu computer from other computers on my Lan network. Everywhere I've looked, people just point toward tutorials on adding virtual users, but that just is NOT working. I've been struggling with this for over a week now! PLEASE Help. Thanks. I'll even give a donation if someone can figure this out. here is the vsftpd.conf file I am using. I copied the original, and make a new one, every time I try a tutorial. So far, none have worked. • Failed to connect from slave to master with error "error connecting to master (1045)"

    - by Victor Lin
    I try to setup replication from slave to the master. CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST = 'master', MASTER_PORT = 3306, MASTER_USER = 'repl', MASTER_PASSWORD = 'xxx'; And I did grant privileges to the user on master. I can connect with mysql command from slave machine to the master mysql -h master -u repl -p mysql> show grants; GRANT RELOAD, SUPER, REPLICATION SLAVE, CREATE USER ON *.* TO 'repl'@'xxx' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD 'xxx' mysql> select 1; +---+ | 1 | +---+ | 1 | +---+ 1 row in set (0.04 sec) As you can see, privileges are correct, connection works fine, but however, the connection for replication to master always failed. mysql> show slave status\G *************************** 1. row *************************** Slave_IO_State: Connecting to master Master_Host: master Master_User: repl Master_Port: 3306 Connect_Retry: 60 Master_Log_File: Read_Master_Log_Pos: 4 Relay_Log_File: slave-replay-bin.000002 Relay_Log_Pos: 4 Relay_Master_Log_File: Slave_IO_Running: Connecting Slave_SQL_Running: Yes Replicate_Do_DB: Replicate_Ignore_DB: Replicate_Do_Table: Replicate_Ignore_Table: Replicate_Wild_Do_Table: Replicate_Wild_Ignore_Table: Last_Errno: 0 Last_Error: Skip_Counter: 0 Exec_Master_Log_Pos: 0 Relay_Log_Space: 107 Until_Condition: None Until_Log_File: Until_Log_Pos: 0 Master_SSL_Allowed: No Master_SSL_CA_File: Master_SSL_CA_Path: Master_SSL_Cert: Master_SSL_Cipher: Master_SSL_Key: Seconds_Behind_Master: NULL Master_SSL_Verify_Server_Cert: No Last_IO_Errno: 1045 Last_IO_Error: error connecting to master 'repl@master:3306' - retry-time: 60 retries: 86400 Last_SQL_Errno: 0 Last_SQL_Error: Replicate_Ignore_Server_Ids: Master_Server_Id: 0 1 row in set (0.00 sec) Is this caused by different version of MySQL server? • WinXP keyboard input repeat rate problem

    - by Victor Sorokin
I have problem similar to http://superuser.com/questions/33981/problems-with-kvm-switch-and-keyboard-repeat-rate-on-windows-xp: When I press and hold some key it's repeated random number of times, after that repeat stops and I need to release key and press it again to make repeat continue. If there's simultaneous sound playback and repeat is stopped, sound's stuck while I hold key with unpleasant drumming as if there's some audio problem. This issue is reproducible in WinXP Safe Mode. On the same config under Linux there's no issue. My config: List item PS/2 Logitech Keyboard USB Mouse MB M3A/H-HDMI WinXP Pro English SP2 with added Russian layout (WinXP loads via GRUB2) Realtek audio drivers for AC97 Thanks for your suggestions J

  • Cannot assign port 4 to WAN on TP-Link WR740N by DD-WRT wiki

    - by Victor Sergienko
I'm following the DD-WRT instruction to get TP-Link WR740N v3's Port 4 on a different VLAN, but this doesn't happen. First, I have no "Setup VLANs" settinngs tab in DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/20/12) std r19519. I can get Internet on Wi-Fi if assigning eth1 to "WAN Port", but then all Ethernet ports get on the same VLAN and any wired connection grabs the DHCP address and Internet connection from router. When following the "old" instruction, if I run, say, nvram set vlan2ports="2 5*", should there appear a new interface, vlan2, in ifconfig, after ifconfig vlan2 up? It doesn't - does it mean there is no support for different VLANs in my software/hardware? What am I missing? Is it impossible to create more VLANs on TP-Link740?

  • Rsyslog is not working properly, it does not log anything

    - by Victor Henriquez
    I'm running a Debian server and a couple of days ago my rsyslog started to behave very weird, the daemon is running but it doesn't seem to do anything. Many people use the system but I'm the only one with (legal) root access. I'm using the default rsyslogd configuration (if you think is relevant I'll attach it, but it's the one that comes with the package). After I rotated all the log files, they have remained empty: # ls -l /var/log/*.log -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jun 27 00:25 /var/log/alternatives.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/auth.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/daemon.log -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jun 27 00:25 /var/log/dpkg.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/kern.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/lpr.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/mail.log -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/user.log Any try to force a log writing does not have any effect: # logger hey # ls -l /var/log/messages -rw-r----- 1 root adm 0 Jun 26 13:03 /var/log/messages Lsof shows that rsyslogd does not have any log files opened: # lsof -p 1855 COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME rsyslogd 1855 root cwd DIR 202,0 4096 2 / rsyslogd 1855 root rtd DIR 202,0 4096 2 / rsyslogd 1855 root txt REG 202,0 342076 21649 /usr/sbin/rsyslogd rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 38556 32153 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libnss_nis-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 79728 32165 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libnsl-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 26456 32163 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libnss_compat-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 297500 1061058 /usr/lib/rsyslog/imuxsock.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 42628 32170 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libnss_files-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 22784 1061106 /usr/lib/rsyslog/imklog.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 1401000 32169 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libc-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 30684 32175 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/librt-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 9844 32157 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libdl-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 117009 32154 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libpthread-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 79980 17746 /usr/lib/libz.so.1.2.3.4 rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 18836 1061094 /usr/lib/rsyslog/lmnet.so rsyslogd 1855 root mem REG 202,0 117960 31845 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/ld-2.13.so rsyslogd 1855 root 0u unix 0xebe8e800 0t0 640 /dev/log rsyslogd 1855 root 3u FIFO 0,5 0t0 2474 /dev/xconsole rsyslogd 1855 root 4u unix 0xebe8e400 0t0 645 /var/spool/postfix/dev/log rsyslogd 1855 root 5r REG 0,3 0 4026532176 /proc/kmsg I was so frustrated that even reinstall the rsyslog package, but it still refuses to log anything: # apt-get remove --purge rsyslog # apt-get install rsyslog I thought someone had hacked the system, so run rkhunter, chkrootkit, unhide in an attempt to find hide processes / ports and nmap in a remote host to compare with the ports shown by netstat. • How to know how many files a process opened efficiently?

I have some server process which have too many socket files, the wc -l method never return the result. So, what is the efficient way to know how many files opened on a process? Thanks.

  • MySQL extension of PHP not working

    - by Víctor
In a Debian server, and after intallation and removal of SquirrelMail (with some downgrade and upgrade of php5, mysql...) the MySQL extension of PHP has stopped working. I have php5-mysql installed, and when I try to connect to a database through php-cli, i connect successfully, but when I try to connect from a web served by Apache I cannot connect. This script, run by php5-cli: echo phpinfo(); $link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'user, 'password'); if (!$link) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } echo 'Connected successfully'; mysql_close($link); Prints the phpinfo, which includes "/etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mysql.ini", and also the MySQL section with all the configuration: SOCKET, LIBS... And then it prints "Connectes successfully". But when run by apache accessed by web browser, it displays the phpinfo, which includes "/etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysql.ini", but has the MySQL section missing, and the script dies printing "Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()". Note that both "/etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mysql.ini" and "/etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysql.ini" are in fact the same configuration, because I have in debian the structure: /etc/php5/apache2 /etc/php5/cgi /etc/php5/cli /etc/php5/conf.d And both point at the same directory: /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d -> ../conf.d /etc/php5/cli -> ../conf.d Where /etc/php5/conf.d/mysql.ini consists of one line: extension=mysql.so So my question is: why is the MySQL extension for PHP not working if I have the configuration included just in the same way as in php-cli, which is working? Thanks a lot!

  • Move the uploads folder in Wordpress

    - by Victor Hurdugaci
    Currently, my Wordpress' upload folder is located in \wp-content\uploads. Initially there was no structure so all files were put there. After a while it was changed to upload the files in \wp-content\uploads\YEAR\MONTH. Now that folder contains a mix of files (those starting with + are folders) like: +wp-content | +2010 | | +02 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | | +01 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | +2009 | | +12 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | | +11 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | +.. | | | .. | Unstructured-file-1 | Unstructured-file-2 | ... | Unstructured-file-n Based on the dates of the unstructured files, I would like to move them in a structured hierarchy (based on date, move it to a folder \wp-content\uploads\YEAR\MONTH). Now, my questions are: Where do I write and execute a script to the movement (I don't have full access to the server, just to a cPanel and to the Wordpress Admin page)? What must be updated so that the links in posts, that reference the unstructured files, point to the new location of those files? Not fully related to the previous description: is it alright to move the whole uploads folder to another location, like \uploads? PS: Moving the files/updating the database manually is not an option :)

  • Amazon AWS VPN how to open a port?

    - by Victor Piousbox
I have a VPN with public and private subnets; I am considering only public subnet for now. The node 10.0.0.23, I can ssh into it. Let's say I want to connect to MySQL on the node using its private address: ubuntu@ip-10-0-0-23:/$ mysql -u root -h 10.0.0.23 ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on '10.0.0.23' (111) ubuntu@ip-10-0-0-23:/$ mysql -u root -h localhost Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g. --- 8< --- snip --- 8< --- mysql> The port 3306 is not reachable if I use the private IP? My security group allows port 3306 inbound from 0.0.0.0/0 AND from 10.0.0.0/24. Outbound, allowed all. The generic setup done by Amazon through their wizard does not work... I add ACL that allows everything for everybody, still does not work. What am I missing?

  • DNS is resolving fine but can't access the server (unless changing /etc/hosts)

    - by victor hugo
Hi all, I have a VPS server with a public IP, I added some A entries in my name server like svn.example.com - 1.1.1.1 Also I added some entries in my workstation /etc/hosts file in order to work with the domains meanwhile the DNSs were refreshed. It's been around 3 days from this and I configures everything in my server (using the hosts file), the DNSs are ready and I removed the entries but for my surprise I can access the servers nor anything in my domain or sub-domains (even a ping doesn't work). I've triple checked and the DNSs are OK. I don't know too much about DNSs . Any help would be appreciated. The IP address of my VPS is 74.63.223.43 I have these domain names, all pointing to the same IP (using A entries) hartoingenio.com www.hartoingenio.com svn.hartoingenio.com

  • How to understand cpu family/model/stepping fields in /proc/cpuinfo

    - by Victor Sorokin
I have following in cpuinfo: processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 15 model : 107 model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ stepping : 2 According to Wikipedia page there are two kinds of 5600+ -- one of 90nm technology, another of 65nm. How can I understand which one I have? There seem to be no direct correspondence between contents of cpuinfo and info on Wikipedia page. AMD site seems to use some other naming scheme for processors too. How can I map values of family, model and stepping from cpuinfo to the data available on Wikipedia/AMD?

  • After upgrade to Lucid, computer doesn't respond to clicks or pressed keys until X restart

    - by Victor Stanciu
I upgraded to Lucid today, and after the update the display is "frozen". I can move the cursor, but I cannot click on anything, nor does it respond to any keys. The only way to fix it is to SSH into the machine (which, by the way, works just fine), and kill and start X. Then I'm taken back to the login screen and everything works. This happens every time I boot. Let me know if there are more details that I can provide.
