  • Wireless Connection unstable with multiple devices connected

    My wireless network works perfectly when only 1 device is connected. Super fast, full strength. But as soon as multiple devices are connected to the wireless network the connections become unstable (constantly losing connection with the internet, not the network itself). It's quite annoying. I have a Sitecom Wireless 300N XR Gigabit Router WL-306, which should be a decent router so I'm guessing there must be something wrong with my configuration. Does any of you know what might cause this? Thanks

  • Belkin Wireless G router not working on Windows 7

    I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G router which used to work on XP. I have a clean Windows 7 install (on the same desktop PC), and it just won't work. Device Manager lists the adapter as a USB device, but it says "The drivers for this device are not installed", even though the driver installer said the installation was OK. Manage Wiresless Networks says "wireless is not currently enabled". The WLAN AutoConfig service is running. My specific question is which of the two symptoms above should I go for first? Should I try to fix the driver installation somehow, or should I try to enable wireless? Is one caused by the other, or is this two independent problems? Any other thoughs that could help me are also appreciated.

  • How to merge multiple internet connections into one

    My PC has 2 wired cards. Both gigalan. It also has 2 wireless cards. One broadcom with proprietary drivers and ralink with open software (which works much better than broadcom). My cellphone can share its connection wirelessly to my PC. But I also have a wired connection. So I have multiple connections that I can use to have internet. How can I merge 2 or more connections together and balance them to enjoy one unified internet experience that it is the sum of all internet connections connected to it. For example if I have an internet connection that offers 1024KB/Sec and another that offers 512KB/Sec and one small one that offers 128KB/Sec, after load balancing and merging all connections, I could download at a speed of 1664KB/Sec using all 3 internet connections as one for example. This question has always intrigued me.

  • Problems when trying to connect to a router wirelessly

    The situation - At my girlfriend's parents' place there are six Windows 7 devices that are wired or wireless connected to a router: 3 dekstops and 3 laptops. There are also several smartphones using the router. The router is secured with WPA2 (AES). The problem - We never had any problems with the router for over a year. But recently - about 3 weeks ago - my girlfriend's laptop (HP) and my laptop (ASUS) started to develop problems while trying to connect to the router. The router has stopped showing up from the network list. Sometimes it comes back and shows up, but then it keeps saying something along the lines of "Could not connect", and not long after that it dissapears again. The range of the router is not the problem here, because we experience the same when we sit next to the router. Sometimes, if we are lucky, and waited a long time (10-15 minutes) without using the laptop for anything, the laptop will eventually succesful connect to the router. The attempts - Of course, the Window 7 troubleshooter. We tried troubleshooting the connection problems and the wireless network adapter, but no luck. We also reset the router enough times to know that's not helping either. Here's the full list of things we tried, but did not help: Running the Windows 7 troubleshooter Resetting the router (more than once) Setting the router settings to factory defaults Disconnecting all other devices except one laptop Applying a system restore Trying static/dynamic IP/DNS - Dynamic is better, right? Enabling/disabling IPv6 - Should I keep IPv6 disabled? Running the command: netsh wlan stop hostednetwork Running the command: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow Updating/reïnstalling wireless adapter drivers The tests - To help finding the core of the problem, we tested the following: Plugging an ethernet cable in the router and in our laptops - worked fine Connecting someone else's laptop to the router (wireless) - worked fine Connecting our laptops to someone else's router - worked fine The router - This information might be relevant: Router model: Sitecom 300N Wireless Router Router hardware: version 01 The DCHP Server's IPs range from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. Router settings: Wireless channel: 12 Channel bandwidth: 20/40 MHz Extension channel: 8 Preamble type: Long 802.11g protection: Disabled UPnP: Enabled The laptops - If you are wondering about our laptops: My laptop model: ASUS Pro64JQ Girlfriend's laptop: HP Pavillion G6 OS: Both Windows 7 Professional x64 - with Service Pack 1 My wireless adapter: Atheros AR9285 AdHoc 11n: Enabled The question - Does anyone have experienced the same problems as I do? Or does someone know how to solve this? Are there more tricks I can try, or settings I should change? Note - Our laptops are not slow or old. My laptop is 1.5 years old, and the other laptop is just 5 months old. I know how to keep laptops clean and I'm pretty sure both laptops are not bloated with useless software.

    Barebone data: virtualization: VMWare Workstation 6.5 (latest) Host: Windows Server 2008 x64 Guest: Windows Server 2008 x86 Host network adapter: wireless Guest network adapter 1: over Bridge VMNet (automatic) Guest network adapter 2: over Host only VMNet Problem When I surf the net within VM my internet connection just gets stalled (not dropped). It doesn't experience any timeout whatsoever, it just stops downloading/communicating. For instance: I start downloading a file with a browser (IE/FF/CR doesn't matter) and I have to pause/restart download when speed drops to 0. I could wait indefinitelly but connection won't pickup automatically. What did I miss in my network configuration? Update 1 I've tested this in various combinations. This works fine when host is connected via Ethernet. But when connected via Wifi, the connection on the guest works as previously described. It connects fine. It gets a valid IP from DHCP... Everything is cool as long as you don't start doing some intensive network traffic (ie. download a 2MB file) In this case it starts downloading and stops after a while. Speed just drops to 0B/s... Sometimes it picks up back, sometimes it doesn't. Connection still stays and works. I can ping around with no problem.

    I was using the default network manager to connect to my wi-fi network, but if the connection is dropped or router restarted the network manager wont reconnect automatically after i guess a couple of tries and just gives a pop-up to connect manually . To avoid this annoyance I installed WICD but though it does try to reconnect to the network after a drop in connection it is unable to resolve the ip address and i am left with an even bigger annoyance . 1. Is there a way to counter either of these issues ? 2. Something like a background process that will check network status periodically and then try to connect to a favored network ?     I'm on Ubuntu 13.10. I generally use wi-fi to connect to the internet. But Yesterday my wi-fi router occurred some problem and now it's out for warranty. So temporarily I'm using LAN. System monitor displayed the network speed correctly when I was in wi-fi. But now it's not showing any kinda network speed in System Monitor. I checked the preferences opption but couldn't find a way. I also checked "ksysguard"(KDE's system monitor) and conky. None of them working. How can i solve this?     This is more or less a research project for a course, and my understanding of NN is very/fairly limited, so please be patient :) ============== I am currently in the process of building a neural network that attempts to examine an input dataset and output the probability/likelihood of each classification (there are 5 different classifications). Naturally, the sum of all output nodes should add up to 1. Currently, I have two layers, and I set the hidden layer to contain 10 nodes. I came up with two different types of implementations 1) Logistic sigmoid for hidden layer activation, softmax for output activation 2) Softmax for both hidden layer and output activation I am using gradient descent to find local maximums in order to adjust the hidden nodes' weights and the output nodes' weights. I am certain in that I have this correct for sigmoid. I am less certain with softmax (or whether I can use gradient descent at all), after a bit of researching, I couldn't find the answer and decided to compute the derivative myself and obtained softmax'(x) = softmax(x) - softmax(x)^2 (this returns an column vector of size n). I have also looked into the MATLAB NN toolkit, the derivative of softmax provided by the toolkit returned a square matrix of size nxn, where the diagonal coincides with the softmax'(x) that I calculated by hand; and I am not sure how to interpret the output matrix. I ran each implementation with a learning rate of 0.001 and 1000 iterations of back propagation. However, my NN returns 0.2 (an even distribution) for all five output nodes, for any subset of the input dataset. My conclusions: o I am fairly certain that my gradient of descent is incorrectly done, but I have no idea how to fix this. o Perhaps I am not using enough hidden nodes o Perhaps I should increase the number of layers Any help would be greatly appreciated!   • Wireless device bug on 13.10. BCM4313 registers as eth1 instead of wlan0 and no internet access

    My Hotel wiFi requires me to login with a username & password after connecting to the hotspot. So, my browser would open a page with username & passwrd fields to login and then connect to internet. But unfortunately, firefox & chromium dont seem to work. i dont think it is browser related but a setting for the wifi router or driver which is creating this issue. using Broadcom 801.11 STA wireless driver (proprietary). tried open source as well but same result !! The image linked below shows my wifi connection setting & Chromium. The login page itself comes up after a long time and after entering the credentials, it keeps loading for ever !! it is the same case for every other browser.. so i dont think its browser issue but something to do with wifi setting or network manager stuff.. interestingly, i am able to connect to WiFi networks with WPA key without any issue. Adhoc hotspot is a problem and that is my regular home network :( .. I hope i can get some help solving this issue ! I have tried repeating the same hotspot after login from my android, by creating a virtual repeater with WPA key and it works. I can browse on ubuntu using this method.. but cant be doing this regularly ! I tried loading the same login page of the hotel wifi while browsing through my repeater wifi created on mobile and screen shot attached below. the page loads up quick and easy.. so this means something is wrong with the way network manager handles adhoc connectivity & login ?? i installed wicd0 but it crashes on startup and not helpful at all ! I think this is a bug with earlier ubuntu versions, but is this normal in 13.10 or is there a wrong configuration here ? The wireless device in my pc is BCM4313 and i have installed the bcmwl-kernel-sources, wireless-tools to support the device. i also reinstalled the bcmwl-kernel as suggested on broadcom website, via synaptic package manager. Nothing has changed this situation ! I tried booting into liveUSB and then ifconfig results show wireless under wlan0. But then the wireless connects and loads the login page. So is the problem with the device configuration now ? i really want to get this fixed before i start configuring the other stuff like ATI graphics and such on the laptop for overheating.. lack of internet access is too bad a bug for me :P any help is appreciated!

What I want to do is very clear: Turn my mobile broadband connection into Wifi connection with my laptop using Kubuntu 12.04 to use it in my desktop PC. I browsed through most of the questions related to this (ad- hoc connections, bridging mobile broadband with Wifi, etc). I also read the ICS article, but I found those too difficult to digest. I hope that there is some other way to do this. I request you to give me a practical and applicable answer . I am not trying duplicate any other existing question.

  • how to know which standard does my Wi-Fi Connection using currently

    My laptop has capabilities of 802.11n connection. with my previous router i could connect with more than 54Mb connection. now i have D-Link router and for some reason the maximum connection speed is 54Mb, which implying that the connection has established with 802.11g. how can i check which standard (g or n) has been established? is there any command that get that information? (nm-applet does not give any information about that at the connection information window).

  • Dell Studio 15 Broadcom wireless drivers not working in Linux Mint

    I installed Linux Mint 12 on my Dell Studio 15 and everything worked perfectly up until I tried updating the STA Driver for the Broadcom (BCM4312) wireless controller. I've tried these bash commands in order and I still don't have wireless. sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer I've also tried uninstalling everything with synaptic package manager including broadcom-sta-common and broadcom-sta-source, then restarting and running the above commands which didn't work either. What's the best way to do this on a Dell Studio 15?
