What about that ADO.Stream object, can someone help me with a sample that would fit my code?

  Hello Experts, We are building a jobsite application in which we will store resumes of all the candidates, which is planned to store on file system. Now We need to search inside that file and provide the result to the user, we need to provide that what is the best solution to implement text searching. I have just tried to identify it and got some reference like IFilter (API or interface) and Lucene.Net (open source), but not sure that is it a right solution. In initial phase it is expected to be around 50,000 resumes and it should be scalable enough if number increases. • Retrieving many huge sized EPS files and converting them to JPEG in ASP.NET application

  I have many (600) EPS files(300 KB - 1 MB) in database. In my ASP.NET application (using ASP.NET 4.0) I need to retrieve them one by one and call a web service which would convert the content to the JPEG file and update the database (JPEGContent column with the JPEG content). However, retrieving the content for 600 of them itself takes too long from the SQL management studio itself (takes 5 minutes for 10 EPS contents). So I have two issues:- 1) How to get the EPS content ( unfortunately, selecting certain number of content is not an option :-( ):- Approach 1:- foreach(var DataRow in DataTable.Rows) { // get the Id and byte[] of EPS // Call the web method to convert EPS content to JPEG which would also update the database. } or foreach(var DataRow in DataTable.Rows) { // get only the Id of EPS // Hit database to get the content of EPS // Call the web method to convert EPS content to JPEG which would also update the database. } or Any other approach? 2) Converting EPS to JPEG using a web method for 600 contents. Ofcourse, each call would be a long running operation. Would task parellel library (TPL) be a better way to achieve this? Also, is doing the entire thing in a SQL CLR function a good idea?

My problem is i need the 'OnClick="PruebaBrava' to execute before the overlay shows. If i use a button instead of a LinkButton it works perfectly but i need to use the linkbutton and with it that event is not firing. What can i do? Thankyou all very much for your answers ;)

• ASP.NET 2.0 RijndaelManaged encryption algorithm vs. FIPS

  I'm running into an issue with an ASP.NET 2.0 application. Our network folks just upped our security, and now I get the floowing error whenever I try to access the app: "This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms." I've done a little research, and it sounds like ASP.NET uses the RijndaelManaged AES encryption algorithm to encrypt the ViewState of pages... and RijndaelManaged is on the list of algorithms that aren't FIPS compliant. We're certainly not explicitly calling any encryption algorithm... much less anything on the non-compliant list. This ViewState business makes sense to me, I guess. The thing I can't muddle out, though, is what to do about it. I've found a KB article that suggests using a web.config setting to specify a different algorithm... but either that didn't stick, or that algorithm isn't up to snuff, either. So: 1) Is the RijndaelManaged / ViewState thing actually the problem? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? 2) How to I specify what algorithm to use instead of RijndaelManaged? I've got a list of algorithms that are and aren't compliant; I'm just not sure where to plug that information in. Thanks! Richard

• Controlling ASP.NET output cache memory usage

  I would like to use output caching with WCF Data Services and although there's nothing specifically built in to support caching, there is an OnStartProcessingRequest method that allows me to hook in and set the cacheability of the request using normal ASP.NET mechanisms. But I am worried about the worker process getting recycled due to excessive memory consumption if large responses are cached. Is there a way to specify an upper limit for the ASP.NET output cache so that if this limit is exceeded, items in the cache will be discarded? I've seen the caching configuration settings but I get the impression from the documentation that this is for explicit caching via the Cache object since there is a separate outputCacheSettings which has no memory-related attributes. • asp.net does not Redirect when in frameset

  I have developed an application on asp.net. I uploaded it to my host. lets say http://myhost/app. My manager wrapped this address into an empty frameset on http://anotherhost/somename and sets the src of frame to http://myhost/ap. And so nobody can login. When the button is hit, it posts back (browser loads stuff, progress bar fills up and ends) but nothing happens. Does not redirect. (I have set IE to alwaysAllowCookies and it now does work, but other people still cannot) I think there is something that I have no clue about framesets and ASP.NET ps: I never use frames but could not convince my manager in doing so. He likes to develop in front page :) Whatz happening?   I have trouble getting a custom ObjectDataSource for an asp:ListView control to work. Without the usage of System.DirectoryServices the page loads without problems. The reference is there, it is working in classes outside the App_Code directory.

• Thoughts about MVC

  so i figured this one out, as a newcomer to the web development scene from the telecom biz, where we dealt with low level hardware API's, and a C++ fanboy, i tend to be bothered by automagical code, yes i appreciate the effort that went into it, and i certainly appreciate the luxury it provides to get more things done, but i just don't get it. so i decided to change that, and start investigating the new MVC based web apps, and at first it was like hitting a brick wall, i knew MVC from MFC days, so i'm familiar with the pattern, but i just couldn't get my head around the web version of it, till i came to realize the routing, is actually a separate feature to be inspected, much like understanding how LINQ works by better understanding anonymous objects. and so this article serve as an introduction to the following blogs where i share my views of how asp.net routing works, and then leverage that to the MVC level, and play around that field for a bit. as with most of my shared knowladge that may seem trivial to some, but i guess a newcomer's point of view can be useful for some folks out there.

  I have a treeView control in ASP.NET page that will be loaded with up to 12,000 nodes in different levels. For example: Node 1 Node 1.1 … Node 1.400 Node 1.400.1 … Node 1.400.6400 Node 2 Node 3 Node 4 According to this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms529261.aspx the node limit is 1000. Is this correct or is it dependent on available memory(please specify value)? Assuming it is correct. is there any way to split the 4600 child nodes in say in chunks of 300 hundred? I am thinking that if dummy nodes are used (previous /next navigation) to navigate the chunks will easy the load of the html page. Sample code in C# will be greatly appreciated. (Or VB.NET if you can not translate it to C#)

• Response.Redirect in a COM+ Object Called from Classic ASP Page

  Basically we moved from IIS 5 to IIS 7 and I am trying to update some of our old COM objects to .NET by rewriting them in C#. What I am have so far is a Classic ASP page calling the COM+ object and then I am trying to do a simple redirect within the COM+ object (this is just for testing purposes, it's not what the object will do eventually). My problem/question is, why does the redirect call not work properly? Am I doing something wrong or can you not redirect within a COM+ object? All that happens is a blank white page comes up and if I check the IIS logs, I see no errors. • GoDaddy Subdomain Hosting Issue/Question with Disk Access (C#/ASP.NET 3.5)

  This isn't a very complicated scenario really, but as I start to type out the problem I'm realizing how convoluted it can become textually. Let me try and be very clear: First, the set up... I have a C#/ASP.NET web application that is publicly facing on my main domain (www), let's call it www.mysite.com. Nothing fancy, just a front-end that connects to SQL to display records. Then, I have a second C#/ASP.NET web application that is secured using forms authentication running on a subdomain, let's call it admin.mysite.com. This is a very light-weight CMS system to administer the public site. Now, the problem... Both of these sites run fine for basic tasks, however, my problem arises when I try to gain access to the file system for uploading. GoDaddy requires subdomains to run as a virtual directories under the main application in IIS (so the subdomains actually resolve/re-direct to www.mysite.com/admin when you type in admin.mysite.com), but because of this I am unable to write to my website root from the subfolder. Let me explain a little more... The CMS system (running as a virtual directory) gives the admin the ability to upload photos for display on the main site, the target folder of which is www.mysite.com/images - when attempting disk access from the root app, I am able to write to the virtual directory, but cannot do the opposite -- that is, write to the root from the virtual directory, getting security violations. If I can only upload to the /admin/ virtual directory, the entire point is moot because it's a secured folder that the public can't see! The only solution I can think of is to upload the files to the /admin/ virtual directory, then call a URL in the root that moves files from /admin/ back to the root, but that is entirely ghetto. I hope this post makes sense. Anyone else experience anything like this? The bottom line is that it seems virtual directories ONLY have access to themselves, and not their parent directories, no matter what credentials are used. Thanks!

I have made the account on twitter with my website name.
