  • How to connect to VPN using commands in Linux (Fedora 16)

    Usually, I use the network connections icon on the top bar to connect to VPN. The connection is configured properly and it connects well. Configuration screen shot is given below. As you can see I have selected the 'Connect automatically' option. But this option doesn't help in connecting to VPN automatically upon login. This is my university VPN and it uses 'Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE)' for authentication I need to connect to the VPN using command line, so that I can write a script and run it at start up, so the connection is automatically established every time I login. This will also help in connecting to VPN when I login from 'init 3' mode. I depend on this VPN connection for my internet access. Please help me with the required commands.

  • Running a program on multiple PC's

    I have some of the basic coding down for the program but I do need assistance with something. My goal is to have an alarm go off on multiple PC's in a network indicating that a certain task needs done. Anyone who receives this alarm may stop it, complete the task and log that they did that. What would be the best way to accomplish this in a network? But not every computer in the network will be running this program, just a few.

  • Fedora: "Login Incorrect"

    I've just set up a minimal install on my netbook (the default was too resource hungry, so I figured I'd customize the install and learn something about linux at the same time!) No problems logging in as root, but when I create a new user and try to login as them I just get the "Login incorrect" error. I'm certain the password is correct, though the secure log displays an authentication error. Am I missing a permission somewhere? useradd test usermod -p [pwd] test Shell is added automatically I think (checking password file says shell is /bin/bash) I've tried adding the user to the sudo-ers group usermod -a -G wheel which doesn't help. I've kept the password simple in order to rule out human error.

  • Is there a way to flush html to the wire in Sinatra

    I have a Sinatra app with a long running process (a web scraper). I'd like the app flush the results of the crawler's progress as the crawler is running instead of at the end. I've considered forking the request and doing something fancy with ajax but this is a really basic one-pager app that really just needs to output a log to a browser as it's happening. Any suggestions?

  • Reduce the number of additional Queries to 0 by overriding functions in the base model

    my basic database setup is: User:... Info: relations: User: { foreignType:one } When displaying information on the user it takes: 1 query to find info on the user, and 1 query to find additional info I want to reduce this to one query that finds both, I assume I need to override a function from BaseUser.class.php, or something along those lines but I'm not really sure what to do. The netsh wlan show hostednetwork command gives the output Hosted network settings ----------------------- Mode : Allowed SSID name : "rambo" Max number of clients : 100 Authentication : WPA2-Personal Cipher : CCMP Hosted network status --------------------- Status : Started BSSID : xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Radio type : 802.11n Channel : 11 Number of clients : 1 xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx Authenticated But I have forgot the password for this connection and after some googling I found the command netsh wlan refresh hostednetwork YourNewNetworkPassword. But on executing this command it get the error C:\Users\user>netsh wlan refresh hostednetwork rambo123 Invalid value "rambo123" for command option "data". Usage: refresh hostednetwork [data=]key I have no idea what is wrong with this command.

  • Managing multiple ssh keys

    I have a lot of ssh keys, they are all passphrase protected and managed by ssh-agent. As a result of this, I am now getting "Too many authentication failures" on some connections. As has been explained on this site before, this is because ssh will try all keys the agent throws at it. The proposed solution is to use IdentitiesOnly in the config, together with an IdentityFile. While this indeed stops offering wrong keys, it seems it completely disables the agent in full, so now I have to type the passphrase on every connection. I could not find clear info about this. Does IdentitiesOnly just disable getting keys from ssh-agent in full? Or should it just block out the keys that aren't mentioned?   • Unable to connect to vrde virtualbox VM remotely

    So I've remotely created my first headless using ssh. Now I'm attempting to connect to this VM using RDP so I can install Ubuntu Server, but I cannot get connected at all. When starting the VM everything appears fine: $ vboxheadless -s WebTesting Oracle VM VirtualBox Headless Interface 4.0.16 (C) 2008-2012 Oracle Corporation All rights reserved. VRDE server is listening on port 4455. And showvminfo shows: VRDE: enabled (Address 0.0.0.0, Ports 4455, MultiConn: off, ReuseSingleConn: off, Authentication type: null) However I'm still prompted with the "enter your credentials" screen every time I attempt to connect. From reading the documentation null shouldn't prompt me with this screen at all... Any help with this is greatly appreciated. P.S. I am using ssh tunneling in putty to tunnel in to my network.

    Hi, I want to run C# programs on my HTC Magic, I can find the mono app on the Android market but I have no clue on how to run C# using. The code is just for fun, I don't want official support and such. After coding Visual Basic on windows mobile, I really want to code C# on Android, whether directly using some sort of editor if exists, or compiling it on a PC then installing it on Android.   • Query between SQL server and Client side

    I create a query: Select * from HR_Tsalary where month='3' and year ='2010' the result is 473 records and I found 2 duplicate record, then I create another query to find duplicate record only: SELECT Emp_No, COUNT(*) FROM HR_Tsalary WHERE year = '10' AND month = '3'GROUP BY Emp_No HAVING COUNT(*) 1 the result is zero record from client side (thru Visual Basic Adodb code). But when I use same query from server the result is 2 records. Is there any different when create a query between from server side and client side?

  • Remote Destkop into Server 2008R2 with Firewall On

    I've got a fresh install of Remove Server 2008 R2, 64 bit. The problem is I can't Remote Destkop into it. I clicked 'Enable Remote Desktop' inside 'Initial Configuration Tasks', and set it to: Allow connections only from computers running Remote Destkop with Network Level Authentication (more secure). The thing is, this used to work just fine, and then it stopped. The only way I can get it to work now is if I turn of Windows Firewall completely off (Public network location settings). Obviously I don't want to run the server with firewall off, so what specific settings in Firewall do I need to disable, or am I doing something wrong?

I often find that I slip back to my old ways and start using the mouse, holding down keys to get somewhere, and doing other stupid things that could be spead up.     I'm quite confused about the basic concepts of a Hash table. If I were to code a hash how would I even begin? What is the difference between a Hash table and just a normal array? Basically if someone answered this question I think all my questions would be answered: If I had 100 randomly generated numbers (as keys), how would I implement a hash table and why would that be advantageous over an array?
