• Trying to provide a global logging function

  I typically write my scripts with a structure like s #!/usr/bin/python import stuff def do_things(): print "FOO" def main(): do_things() if __name__ == "__main__": main() The problem I have is I'd like to have a logging function that is defined globally and I"m not really sure how to do this. I tried a decorator function but if I define it in main I can't call it from other functions in the script. It seems like something that should be easy to do but not something I have experience with.

  I have a file in a folder like this: installer-x86_64-XXX.XX-diagnostic.run The XXX.XX is a version number and I need the version number only. How to do it in linux? I have this code: #!/bin/bash current_ver=$(find /mnt/builds/current -name '*.run'|awk -F/ '{print $NF}') So this gives me just the name of the file correctly (minus the location, which I dont want). But how do I only get the XXX.XX version number into a variable such as $version

  The title is pretty descriptive... Is there any extension that let me see FULL documentation of the method I'm typing ? I would like to see the documentation as I can see it in Object Browser with description of parameters and everything not just some "summary". So what I'd like to see when I type String.Format is: Of cause with an option to see all overrides. It may be part of intelisence or I don't know what it does not really matter.

  I've written a custom plugin for CKEditor--successful on all fronts, save one currently: I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to customize the image on the button in the toolbar of the editor. As I'm a new user, you'll have to click through to see attached image; the highlighted square in the top left should have a pretty picture (like most of the other toolbar items).   I remember hearing Joel mention in the podcast that he'd barely ever used a foreign key (if I remember correctly). However, to me they seem pretty vital to avoid duplication and subsequent data integrity problems throughout your database. Do people have some solid reasons as to why (to avoid a discussion in lines with SO principals)? Basically, is there an stdio equivalent for mouse (and other input) input in c? Or is there a library that is minimal and cross compatible on multiple platforms. There are by nature multiple UserSessionIDs rows in tblUserSessionSequence. I ONLY want to return the latest (top 1) row with unique UserSessionID. How do I do that?

  I know that I can use gprof to benchmark my code. However, I have this problem -- I have a smart pointer that has an extra level of indirection (think of it as a proxy object). As a result, I have this extra layer that effects pretty much all functions, and screws with caching. Is there a way to measure the time my CPU wastes due to cache misses? Thanks!
