  I'm basically looking for a C++ version of fdopen(). I did a bit of research on this and it is one of those things that seems like it should be easy, but turns out to be very complicated. Am I missing something in this belief (i.e. it really is easy)? If not, is there a good library out there somewhere to handle this?

• Install python 2.6 in CentOS

  I have a shell that runs CentOS For a project I'm doing I need python 2.5+ but centOS is pretty dependent on 2.4 From what I've read a number of things will break if you upgrade to 2.5 I wan't to install 2.5 separately from 2.4 but I'm not sure how to do it. So far I've downloaded the source tarball, untarred it and did a ./configure --prefix=/opt which is where I want it to end up. can I now just make, make install ? or is there more?

  I'm trying to float my navigation at the top much more to left around 200px atleast more towards the end of the line that can been seen below.   I have put together a Skin for OpenHome but have since ran across AHome code for their IPhone theme and was wondering that if I included for AHome their Dock_Bg or widget_drawer among other things which is not on OpenHome that the Launcher for the respective screen replacement would just call the items it uses.I want to keep the mb as low as I can but reach more handsets.I can just make seperate ones but see many that include even Freshface as well as OpenHome and AHome.

• Sorting MySQL table by next due date

  Hi folks, I have a MySQL table that stores (amongst other things) a persons date of birth. Is there any way to sort the table so the next due birthday is at the top? I have the date stored in standard yyyy-mm-dd DATE format and seperate year, month and day fields so I can sort it by the first birthday of the year (ORDER BY month, day) but I can't seem to get any further.   I'm reading the gcc manual at the moment, especially the part about warning/error flags. After reading the part about the -Wextra flag, I wonder if it is useful at all. It seems that it complains about things which seem to be rather subjective or a matter of taste. • SQL Server Query with "ELSE:"

  I have various VB6 projects I'm maintaining with some of the queries being passed to the server having "ELSE:" with the colon used in case statements. I'm wondering can someone tell me what the **ll the colon is used for? It causes errors in SQL2005 and greater, but SQL2000 works with no complaints.
