  • Bitnami redmine error SVN

    I'm installing the Bitnami Redmine stack (redmine + subversion). Firstly I install configure and test it locally (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS). And everything is OK. I install Bitnami stack on server (Red Hat 4.4.7-4) and configure SVN. I commit files into SVN and connect project into Redmine with SVN repository, but when I try see it Rredmine displays 404 error.     I'm having some trouble with the SQLSERVER PSDRIVE. See error below. I only have named instances on my PC, both 2005 and 2008 Added the SQL snapins. The PC is named YODA The SQL instance is SQL2008 Navigate to the Databases folder for YODA\SQL2008. You can see the path below. dir -name spits out a connection error trying to connect to YODASQL2008\DEFAULT when it should be trying to connect to YODA\SQL2008. Then it outputs the db name which is Twitter in this case. Is there something missing from my config?   • issues with Nginx + Passenger Production setup - Loading time/request time delay

    having a bit of an issue relating to request time. I have NGINX as a proxy server for a ruby on rails app running passenger. I also have a postgresql database server which is running on its own VM separate from my nginx/application server. My issue is that when I try and access my products page which does a lot of database queries, my query takes maybe 3-4 seconds. The second I flood the web server with requests, i will choke out the web server and have requests take almost 20-30 seconds to process. The rails server and database server do not crash, and the usage is not that high. Each server has more than enough memory, even cpu usage on the rails server isn't more than 85%, albeit thats high but its not maxing it out. Is my problem related to my nginx proxy server? I dont really know how to fully explain this so if you have a question please ask it and I can clarify what I mean.   • Javascript Implementation Patterns for Server-side MVC Websites

    I'm looking for information on common patterns for initializing and executing Javascript page by page in a "traditional" server-side MVC website architecture. A few months ago, my development team began, but abandoned, a major re-architecture of our company's primary web app, including a full front-end redesign. In the process, there was some debate about the architecture of the Javascript in the current version of the site, and whether it fit into a clear, modern design pattern. Now I've returned to the process of overhauling the front end of this and several other MVC websites (Ruby on Rails and MVC.net) to implement a responsive framework (Bootstrap), and in the process will again need to review then revamp and update a lot of Javascript. These web applications are NOT single-page Javascript applications (in fact, we are ripping out a lot of Ajax) or designed to require a Javascript MVC pattern; these apps are basically brochure, catalog and administrative sites that follow a server-side MVC pattern. The vast majority of the Javascript required is behavioral, pre-built plugins (JQuery and Bootstrap, et al) that execute on specific DOM nodes. I'm going to give a very brief (as brief as I can be) run-down of the current architecture only in order to illustrate the scope and type of paradigm I'm talking about. Hopefully, it will help you understand the nature of the patterns I'm looking for, but I'm not looking for commentary on the specifics of this code. What I've done in the past is relatively straight-forward and easy to maintain, but, as mentioned above, some of the other developers don't like the current architecture. Currently, on document ready, I execute whatever global Javascript needs to occur on every page, and then call a page-specific init function to initialize node-specific functionality, retrieving the init method from a JS object.   • ruby script/server not reading RAILS_ENV option

    Hello, I tried to run ruby script/server RAILS_ENV=production but somehow it always try to read "development" config.. nothings wrong with RAKE XXX RAILS_ENV=production (trying to read production config). Any idea how to troubleshoot? I have my other rails app in the same machine and it works fine. The problem above only happen for redmine rails. Thanks in advance. -iwan

With this in place, if I access the url "/Forums" It loads the forum content in the Blog tab first, trigger the ajax load of the Blog tab and replace the content with the blog content. I tried putting a different placeholder for each tab, but that didn't fix everything either, since when loading "/Forums" it will sure load the forum tab, but the Blog tab will show up first. Furthermore, when using separate placeholders, If I load the "/Blogs" url, It will first load the content statically in the Blog contentplaceholder and then trigger an ajax call to load it a second time and replace it. If I just link the tab to the hashtag, then when loading the forum tabs, I won't get the blog content... How would you achieve the expected behaviour? I feel like I might have a deeper probelm in the organization of my views. Is putting the tabs in the masterpage the way to go? Maybe I should just hijax the links manually and not rely on jquery-ui tabs to do the work for me. I cannot load all tabs by default and display them using the hash tags, I need an ajax loading because it is a search process that can be long. So to sum up : /Forum should load the forum tab, and let the other tabs be loaded with an ajax call when clicking on it. /Twitter should load the twitter tab and let the other tabs.... the same goes for /Blogs and any tabs I would add later. Any idea to have this working properly?

(at least it isn't there yet) Has anyone had any luck running rcov with rspec 2, or writing their own rake task to make this work?

    Multiple NSURLConnections being started (in a single UIViewController) to gather different kinds of data. When they return (-connectionDidFinishLoading) I wanna do stuff with the data, depending on the type of data that has arrived. But one prob, HOW DO I KNOW WHICH NSURLConnection returned? I need to know so I can take action specific to the type of data that came. (Eg. display a twitter update if it was the twitter xml data)(Eg. display an image if it was a photo) How do people usually solve this?

The problem is I then want to send the facebook/twitter/delicious url through a php redirect page. Will it work to encode a url within an encoded url? Will there be side effects?   • What does N years of experience with a language really mean?

    I've been looking at jobs descriptions since I'm graduating soon and looking for a job and what's always coming back - I'm not teaching you anything - is the "N years of experience in this language". It has been discussed in this question that if you work professionally with let's say Ruby for 2 years, but during these two years you also did some C# and PHP and were actually coding in Ruby 50% of the time. Do you say you have 1 year of experience in Ruby? 2 years? Another issue that hasn't been reviewed in the other post is for "non-professional experience". I'll give you a personal example: I've been working with Ruby on Rails since 2004 while at school. I did a lot of personal projects and school projects using this technology. I also used Rails in 2 6-month internships. Do I have 5 years of Rails experience (2004-now)? Do I have 1 year(2 internships)? Do I have nothing? I feel like I don't deserve the credit for 5 years, because the first years I wasn't working a lot with rails, but since last year I launched some websites and invested myself a lot in this technology and just saying 1 year doesn't really reflect how much I know the technology... Another example: I Learned C++ at school and did 1 big project with it (2-3 month of work and a semester of classes). I never used it in a company but I'd be able to be productive fairly quickly if I had to work on a C++ project and I have a good grasp of the concepts. Do I have no experience? 3 months? 6 months? ... something else? What I'm really trying to do is to find a way to present my skill set in a way that is compliant to what recruiters expect. I also don't want to end up at an interview that would go something like this... Recruiter (finding out the horrible truth): Oh but you said that you had 2 years of experience with this when you have none! / slaps me in the face / Me (in pain): Oh! The irony! Recruiter (yelling): Get out of my office / calls security, punches me in the throat /

  • Addthis: Sharing for unique items on page

    I am using addthis (addthis.com) to offer sharing on items listed on a page (stage.hverdagskupp.no). Since each item on the page is unique, I want the shared information to be unique as well. However, facebook and twitter only seems to allow global page information to be shared. Anyone knows how to define item specific sharing information with addthis, for facebook and twitter?
