• How can I write a file on an sftp-server with PHP?

  Hi, I hope someone here could help me, because I couldn't find any solution with Google. What I have to do is to generate a XML-string (that works) an save that directly into a file on an sftp-server. So far, so good... I used the following code with ftp and it works to, but not with ftps. So I either need another options-configuration for the stream or a different way to solve that task.   I have a struct named Game with an array of levels, defined like this: typedef struct { Level levels[x]; } Game; When I compile the code, if x is 1, 2 or 3, the program runs normally. If it's any other value (4, for instance), I get a segmentation fault. I'm not accessing the array anywhere. I have a function for processing drops at some index in the vector-array. Now if that's first time of running I'm making array with max size and process it in cycle. But this code works slower that all another I have. Please, help me to optimize it. I tried to replace all int with uint16_t but I think it doesn't matter.

• Function calls in virtual machine killing performance

  I wrote a virtual machine in C, which has a call table populated by pointers to functions that provide the functionality of the VM's opcodes. When the virtual machine is run, it first interprets a program, creating an array of indexes corresponding to the appropriate function in the call table for the opcode provided. It then loops through the array, calling each function until it reaches the end. Each instruction is extremely small, typically one line. Perfect for inlining. The problem is that the compiler doesn't know when any of the virtual machine's instructions are going to be called, as it's decided at runtime, so it can't inline them. The overhead of function calls and argument passing is killing the performance of my VM. Any ideas on how to get around this?

• Truth tables in code? How to structure state machine?

  I have a (somewhat) large truth table / state machine that I need to implement in my code (embedded C). I anticipate the behavior specification of this state machine to change in the future, and so I'd like to keep this easily modifiable in the future. My truth table has 4 inputs and 4 outputs. I have it all in an Excel spreadsheet, and if I could just paste that into my code with a little formatting, that would be ideal.   I have a link that goes like this: $this->Html->link('Welcome', array('controller' => 'users', 'action' => 'add')); I suspect it doesn't work (Firefox says the redirect will never complete), so I did this: $this->Html->link('Welcome', array('controller' => 'users', 'action' => 'add', 'my'=>false)); 'my' is a prefix. I also have 'admin', 'ajax', and 'rss'. So now instead of pointing to /users/add or /my/users/add, the link points to /rss/users/add. The link is in a header, in a layout so I don't know which prefix it will be invoked from. I want to go to /users/add, that is, leave all prefixes altogether. How do I do that in CakePHP? I'm using 1.3 version.

  Hi All, I want to write a Scala script to recursively process all files in a directory. For each file I'd like to see if there are any cases where a string occurs at line X and line X - 2. If a case like that occurs I'd like to stop processing that file, and add that filename to a map of filenames to occurrence counts. • How to rate a connect four game situation in java

  Hey, I am trying to write a simple AI for a "Get four" game. The basic game principles are done, so I can throw in coins of different color, and they stack on each other and fill a 2D Array and so on and so forth. until now this is what the method looks like: public int insert(int x, int color) //0 = empty, 1=player1 2=player2" X is the horizontal coordinate, as the y coordinate is determined by how many stones are in the array already, I think the idea is obvious. Now the problem is I have to rate specific game situations, so find how many new pairs, triplets and possible 4 in a row I can get in a specific situation to then give each situation a specific value. With these values I can setup a "Game tree" to then decide which move would be best next (later on implementing Alpha-Beta-Pruning). My current problem is that I can't think of an efficient way to implement a rating of the current game situation in a java method. • Can I have fixed typed ArrayList in C#, just like C++?

  I have an ArrayList which contains fixed type of objects. However everytime I need to extract an object a particular index, I need to typecast it to my user defined type from object type. Is there a way in C# to declare ArrayList of fixed types just like Java and C++, or is there a work around to avoid the typecasting everytime? Edit: I apologize I forgot mentioning that I require the datastructure to be thread-safe, which List is not. Otherwise I would have just used a normal Array. But I want to save myself from the effort of explicitly locking and unlocking while writing the array. So I thought of using ArrayList, synchronize it, but it requires typecasting every time.

• ampersand problem with wordpress categories

  I have an array of categories, some with an & i.e. events & entertainment. My script imports these categories and gets the ID of each using its name. i.e.: $cat_id = array(get_cat_id($linearray[0]),get_cat_id($linearray[1]),get_cat_id($linearray[2]),get_cat_id($linearray[3])); My script then adds a post to wp using these category ID's. My problem is that categories from my import with the & are not imported. These same categories (when an email notice is sent) break the email at the &. Is there a simple workaround to this?

• Sorting 1000-2000 elements with many cache misses

  I have an array of 1000-2000 elements which are pointers to objects. I want to keep my array sorted and obviously I want to do this as quick as possible. They are sorted by a member and not allocated contiguously so assume a cache miss whenever I access the sort-by member. Currently I'm sorting on-demand rather than on-add, but because of the cache misses and [presumably] non-inlining of the member access the inner loop of my quick sort is slow. I'm doing tests and trying things now, (and see what the actual bottleneck is) but can anyone recommend a good alternative to speeding this up? Should I do an insert-sort instead of quicksorting on-demand, or should I try and change my model to make the elements contigious and reduce cache misses? OR, is there a sort algorithm I've not come accross which is good for data that is going to cache miss?
