  • Set proper rights for sshfs mountpoint so it can be shared with samba

    I have a domain hoster that provides access via SSH. My platforms are: Gentoo 2.6.36-r5 Windows (XP/Vista/7) I work on my Windows, I use Gentoo to do all the magic Windows can't do. Therefore I use sshfs to mount the remote public directory for my domain to /mnt/mydomain.com. Authentication is done via keys, so lazy me don't have to type in my password every now and then. Since I do my coding on Windows, and I don't want to upload/download the changed files all the time, I want to access this /mnt/mydomain.com via a samba share. So I shared /mnt in samba, all mounts except mydomain.com is listed on my Windows Explorer. My theories are: sshfs does not set the mountpoint uid/gid to something that samba expects samba does not know that it has to include the uid/gid that /mnt/mydomain.com has been set. All above is wrong, and I don't know. Here are configs and output from console, need anything else just let me know.   • What do you call the << operator in Ruby when it's used for appending stuff?

    In other contexts I know this << is called the bitshift operator. Is there a name for it when it's just used for append operations like you would do in an array or string (not sure what else you can append with it)? I'd like to be able to use an English word to refer to it instead of saying "you know, the operator with the two left arrows that's not really the left bitshift operator".

  • How to turn off Excel "Header Row" without losing data in it?

    I've been sent an Excel spreadsheet with a weird first row. Some of the cells say "Column1", "Column2", etc., but I can't delete their contents. If I select the cell and hit backspace, it goes blank, but when I press return, it goes right back to saying "Column1". I found another answer here that suggested this could be caused by "Cell validation", but the validation window says "Any value", and also "show alert" (and I'm not seeing an alert), so I don't think that's it. The first row is white text on a blue background, if that means anything. The spreadsheet was sent to me in XLSX format, but I tried resaving as XLS and opening that, and it seems to make no difference. This is with the "ribbon" version of Excel (they got rid of the Help menu so I don't know how to see what version number it is!). Thanks! Update: The Excel online help says to use ribbon Home tab - Cells - Delete - ... to delete cells. When I select anything on the first row, this pop-up menu is dimmed. So maybe Excel doesn't think row 1 consists of "cells"? Though I don't know what else it would call them. Update 2: I found it, kind of. If I click the "Design" tab in the ribbon, then uncheck "Header Row", then first row becomes a normal row of cells again. Unfortunately, the contents disappear entirely. I want to delete a few cells, not all 50+! And if I copy the first row before turning off "Header Row", it disappears from the clipboard when I uncheck that. So I kind of know what mode it's stuck in, but not a good way out of it.

  • what determines the bios you can use

    I have a Compaq sr5710f with a MCP61PM-HM (Iris8) motherboard and loaded a Geforce6100sm-m bios on to it. It works fine and opened up some options, but I want to give my comp am3 socket support. So my question is if I go looking for a bios that will do that for me what do I need to pay attention to. Is it only the chip set which is geforce 6150se nforce 405 or are there more things I should be looking at. If anyone thinks they might know a bios that will help me out that would be good to. I am looking for a retail bios though. I do not want to load any of the experimental ones you can find on the net. Also I would need it to support ddr2 800 ram, and would like to keep am2 support to. I know my bios is data that is downloaded onto my motherboard, or for lack of a better word a program. I am currently running a bios that is not for my motherboard, so I know it can be done. What I need is what do I need to pay attention to when looking for compatible bios programs, that is not for my motherboard.

I figure that if Luabind has a clean way to do this, it would look something like this: class 'A.B' (Super) function A.B:__init() Super.__init(self) end Notice that the B class is defined in the A table. I know the following hackish way of doing this: class 'A.B' (Super) A = {} A.B = _G['A.B'] However, I would really like to know if Luabind provides this feature explicitly.

  • RHEL kickstart with external DVDrom drive

    HI I've an old Dell poweredge server with an CDROM drive. I've attached a USB DVDROM and USB stick with my ks.cfg on so I can install RHEL from DVD not loads of CDs :-) I can boot from the RHEL media in DVDROM and point the installer to the USB ks.cfg. This works but the ks.cfg script has the cdrom keyword in it. The install then stops and asks for the RHEL media to be in the CDROM drive not the DVDROM. How can I change the ks.cfg so it uses the external DVDROM for the install media not servers builtin cdrom drive ? I know I can go and rebuild my DVD image to include the ks.cfg , but this is an extra step I dont want to do if I have to. Regards Andy

  • reducing Windows 7 size

    My Windows 7 uses around 16 GB while Windows XP only around 4 GB hard disk space. Seems weird. I use Windows only for gaming so I dont need a lot of stuff they have to offer. What is the best way to reduce Windows 7 size? What can I delete / uninstall and how? Also I'd like reduce RAM and processor usage as much as possible (as long as it doesnt hurt game performance)... turn off all that fancy stuff and so on. What can I turn off and how?
