  • How to get Facebook-Feeds in Trillian without connecting to Facebook-Chat?

    I installed the trial of Trillian 5.0 Build 22 (I don't know if the version 4 Astra is any different). I successfully added my Facebook account so I can see my facebook news on Trillian and works great. The problem is that I don't want to use the Facebook-chat, and if I disconnect the Facebook-chat the rest of the facebook stuff (news, events, groups, request) also disappears. I tried by setting the Facebook status to Away; and I'm not sure if someone can chat with me if I choose that; but anyway I still have the contacts list full of people I don't want. EDIT: Maybe I wasn't clear enough about the Facebook part. And that might be why some people fell this is off-topic. But when I talk about Facebook in this question, I'm not referring to the Facebook site at any point. I'm mean the Facebook plugin of Trillian (and it's not an user plugin; it's a built-in plugin).

  • Using Diskpart in a PowerShell script won't allow script to reuse drive letter

    I built a script that mounts (attach) a VHD using Diskpart, cleans out some system files and then unmounts (detach) it. It uses a foreach loop and is suppose to clean multiple VHD using the same drive letter. However, after the 1st VHD it fails. I also noticed that when I try to manually attach a VHD with diskpart, diskpart succeeds, the Disk Manager shows the disk with the correct drive letter, but within the same PoSH instance I can not connect (set-location) to that drive. If I do a manual diskpart when I 1st open PoSH I can attach and detach all I want and I get the drive letter every time. Is there something I need to do to reset diskpart in the script?   • Postfix configuration - Uing virtual min but server is bouncing back my mail.

    I have no experience in setting up postfix, and thought virtualmin minght do the legwork for me. Appears not. When I try to send mail to the domain (either [email protected] [email protected] or [email protected]) I get the following message returned This is the mail system at host dedq239.localdomain. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster> If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message.     I often browse news aggressors like Reddit.com and I want to be able to have one Firefox window open on each of my two screens, and when I middle click on a link on my left screen, it will open up the tab on my right firefox window. I know that there are some plugins that can open up new windows, but if I do that I'll have to many windows open and I'd rather manage my open news stories via tab bars rather than with windows (clearer, more efficient to browse, and easier to bookmark). Is there a Firefox addon with which I can middle click on a link and it will open it in a new tab in my other window?

  • How can I make the iTunes podcast count ignore selected podcasts?

    Hi all, Until recently I have only listened to news type podcasts with people talking, like TWiT and Security Now. I also like music, so decided to subscribe to some other music related podcasts, however I don't want these to appear in my podcasts count in iTunes on the left hand side. I downloaded a load of old ones from the music related podcasts, and now I can't see at a glance how many news podcasts I have to listen to. I know it sounds really picky, but if it can be done, I would be a little bit happier. Of course I did some googling, but turned up a blank. Would guess it needs some form of plugin.     Whe right clicking in windows that have popup menus you can hold mouse button, wait until popup appears and release above the desired item to click it. This is different from Windows that have popup appear only on mouse release. And it leads to accident menu item clicking sometimes.   • Issues configuring Exchange 2010 as well as SSL problems.

    Possibly-Relevant Background Info: I've recently moved up from icky shared hosting to a glorious, Remote Desktop-administrated VPS server running Windows Server 2008 R2. Even though I'm only 21 now and a computer science major, I've tried to play with every Windows Server release since '03, just to learn new things. What usually happens is inevitably I'll do something wrong and pretty much ruin the install. You're dealing with an amateur here :) Through the past few months of working with my new server, I've mastered DNS, IIS, got Team Foundation Server running (yay!), and can install all of the other basics like SQL Server and Active Directory. The Problem: Now, these last few weeks I've been trying to install Exchange Server 2010 (SP1). To make a long story short, it took me several attempts, and I even had to get my server wiped just so I could start fresh since Exchange decided uninstalling properly was for sissies (cost me $20, bah). Today, at long last, I got Exchange mostly working. There were two main problems left, however, that left me unsatisfied: Exchange installed itself and all of its child sites into Default Web Site. I wanted to access Exchange via mail.domain.com, but instead everything was configured to domain.com. My limited server admin knowledge was not enough to configure IIS or Exchange to move itself over to the website I had set up for it, appropriately titled 'mail.domain.com', which I had bound to a dedicated IP address (I was told this was necessary, but he may have been wrong). I have two SSL certificates: one for my main domain and one for my mail subdomain. For whatever reason, I had issues geting Exchange to use my mail certificate, even though I had assigned the proper roles in the MMC. I did, at one point, get it to work (or mostly work, anyways. Frankly, my memory of today is clouded by intense frustration). Additionally, I was confused which type of SSL certificate I should be using for Exchange. My SSL provider, GoDaddy, allows me to request a new certificate whenever, so I can use either the certificate request provided by IIS or the more complicated and specific request you can create with Exchange. Which type should I be using, the IIS or Exchange certificate? If I must use the Exchange certificate, will that 1) cause issues when I bind that certificate to my mail.domain.com subdomain or 2) is that an unnecessary step? The SSL Certificate Strikes Back When I thought I had the proper SSL certificate assigned for those brief, sweet moments, Google Chrome reported the correct mail.domain.com certificate when browsing https://mail.domain.com. However, Outlook 2010 threw up an error when trying to configure my email account claiming that the certificate didn't match the domain of "mail.domain.com". Is this an issue that will be resolved by problem #2 or is it a separate one entirely? Apologies for the massive wall of text, but I wanted to provide as much info as I possibly could. Exchange is the last thing I'd like installed on my server, and naturally it's turning out to be the hardest. Thanks for any info at all. Even a point in a vague direction would be a huge help at this point. Thanks! -Eric P.S.: The reason I keep ruining my install is that when I attempt to uninstall Exchange, something invariably goes wrong. The last time the uninstaller complained that there was still a mailbox active and it couldn't proceed until I deleted it. ... The only mailbox left was the Administrator account, the built-in one I couldn't delete. So I attempted to manually uninstall it following several guides online only to now be stuck unable to launch the installer and have to get my system wiped AGAIN for the second time today ($40 down the drain, bah!). I do not understand at all why "uninstall" just can't mean "hey, you, delete everything and go away". There's not even a force uninstall option, only a "recover system" option that just fails to fix anything and makes it so I can't even use the GUI uninstaller. </rant>

  • Redirect anything within /attachments/ directory up one level but also removing anything after /attachments/

    WordPress creates an attachment page for any images uploaded through the post editor and "attached" to that post. After migrating a site, those attachment pages no longer exist, and we now have around 1000 links pointed at 404's. So, I was looking to find a way to do a redirect for any url that has /attachement/ in it's string and then push that url back up one level (which happens to be the post page). so for instance: http://mysite.com/2012/news/blog-post-title/attachment/image-page/ (which doesnt exist) will go to http://mysite.com/2012/news/blog-post-title/ (which does exist). Along with redirecting up one level, I also need to remove anything after /attachment/ (in this case the "image-page." Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

There are DDOs attacks to web servers, which mostly give them so much concurrent loads or connections that service get unavailable. Many government or non-profit organizations that suffered this kind of attacks, eventually could choose to shutdown their web server and that's it, waiting for these attacks to end. For a DDOs attacks to PBX, I imagine that it would result in telephones getting busy or ringing all the time unstoppably. This kind of attack could really damage any kind organization. Is it possible to do that or are we just in the beginnings?

    I used to love Pointcast in the early days of the internet; it was a screensaver that, like RSS feeds, brought in all your favorite sources with news articles and stock quotes along with various other info and turned it into a visually interesting screensaver. It was before broadband though and I heard so many work places had to ban it that the company eventually folded. But I wondered if there are any modern day equivalents? I certainly have feed readers and some awesome desktop gadgets that bring in various things like news and weather, and I don't want a whole screensaver like pointcast. But I wondered if anyone out there had other suggestions worth taking a look at; making some kind of feed display of interest, or some other way to turn favorite content into more animated desktop background, etc...

  • Exchange 2010 sending old Out of Office message

    We are just about done with our migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010. I have a user who has been migrated to the new system that is now out on medical leave. He has gone into OWA and set up his Out of Office notification. The good news is that an Out of Office message is sent, the bad news is that it appears to be sending an old outdated message from back when the user was on Exchange 2003, and not honoring the new message set up in OWA. The user has also tried setting this up in Outlook 2010 as well with the same behavior. I have a feeling that this is related to the old public folders (didn't they contain OOF messages?) still lingering around our Exchange org. Any ideas?

  • How can I search for Gmail conversations that have more than one e-mail? [closed]

    I previously used a service that sent me Slashdot articles as individual e-mails. All I had to do was give them the RSS url, and they handled the rest. On the Gmail side, I simply made a filter, labeling these e-mails as "News". Once I stopped using the service, I realized that I had more than 20,000 such e-mails stockpiled. While I could delete all "News" e-mails, there are some that I've forwarded to friends, sometimes receiving multiple replies. These conversations are valuable - I would like to keep them. As far as I can tell, there's no way to search for conversations that have more than one e-mail in the thread. Up until now, I've been deleting them page by page, carefully de-selecting the conversations that have more than one e-mail; however, it will take far too much time to complete. Is there an easier way that I'm missing? Thanks.

    I'm going to set up a web service which will use the LAMP stack. One of the most important features of the site is that it should be anonymous. We thought that a cool thing will be if the server didn't made any logs that could potentially identify a user. I'm working on a web app for a news organization. They want a site to allow people to sumbit news leads and tips (text / files) to journalists. We think if we can provide good anonymity people will be more inclined to provide information. We will also teach how to use stuff like TOR as an extra precaution for whistleblowers Is this even possible? Any suggestions of obscure things we should look into?

  • Method to control multiple sites using same cookie?

    Is it possible for two different web pages to use the same cookie? For example, some news sites now have buttons on the bottom, where if you are logged into facebook, you can just click the button to "like" the article. Is this a case of a 3rd party website using facebook's cookie to know which account you are, and if so, is there a way I can control it? I'm not sure how the new "like" system works, so maybe the button part isn't actually on the news site, but hosted on facebooks servers or something, so it's really facebook itself accessing its own cookie. If that's the case, is there a way I can choose when a site accesses its own cookie? Thanks for any help!

When I publish one of those custom work items from within Office Project, it does not populate those fields the same way as when I publish a Task work item (builtin TFS work item). I've looked at the transitions in the work items, and also the TFS project field mapping XML file but can't find anything that explains the difference in behaviour. What am I missing?
