  • Use mod_rewrite to force users to homepage when entering a site?

    Is it possible to use mod_rewrite to force all users entering a site (either through a link from another site, or by typing a URL in the address bar) to be redirected to the homepage? From the homepage (or any page within the site), users should then be able to access other pages in the site. But all users would be forced to enter the site through the homepage. Can this be done with mod_rewrite (or without using a scripting language)?

  • Thunderbird: where have the folder view switching arrows gone?

    The folder pane in Thunderbird used to have a left and right arrow that allowed switching between the folders displayed. However, since a week or so, the arrows are gone (update? miss-clicked something?) As I use them several times a day: how can I get the arrows back? I have Thunderbird 8.0. Note: I know, switching is also accessible via the menu bar View Folders, but this is too much clicks for me.

  • Sum if ONLY all the cells have a value?

    Hi I need to sum 9 cells of data, each one on a separate sheet, but always in the same location. I only want a figure returned when all the cells have data, even if it's a 0. But, if one of the cells is blank I want a blank return. I'm trying to get my head around, making it up actually, where the IFs and ISBLANK and SUMS would go.   • What's the most compact way to store a password-protected RSA key?

    I've tried converting a PEM-encoded key to DER format, and it appears the password is stripped regardless of the -passout argument. Example: openssl rsa -in tmp.pem -outform DER -out tmp.der -passin pass:foo -passout pass:bar -des3 The resulting key appears no longer password-protected, so I am assuming that DER format does not support a password - is that correct? What alternative way is there to store this in a compact, binary form, and keep the password-protection?

  • How to make Nginx fire 504 immediately is server is not available?

    I have Nginx set up as a load balancer with cookie-based stickiness. The logic is: If the cookie is NOT there, use round-robbing to choose a server from cluster. If the cookie is there, go to the server that is associated with the cookie value. Server is then responsible for setting the cookie. What I want to add is this: If the cookie is there, but server is down, fallback to round-robbing step to choose next available server. So actually I have load balancing and want to add failover support on top of it. I have managed to do that with the help of error_page directive, but it doesn't work as I expected it to. The problem: 504 (and the fallback associated with it) fires only after 30s timeout even if the server is not physically available. So what I want Nginx to do is fire a 504 (or any other error, doesn't matter) immediately (I suppose this means: when TCP connection fails). This is the behavior we can see in browsers: if we go directly to server when it is down, browser immediately tells us that it can't connect. Moreover, Nginx seems to be doing this for 502 error: if I intentionally misconfigure my servers, Nginx fires 502 immediately.   • Wampserver not working in Windows 8

    I recently upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 8 successfully. Other application are working perfectly except wampserver. When I double click on the desk top icon, it shows red on the tray bar and then the color changes but when I click Start All Services, nothing happens. Localhost does not open in webbrowser. Skype is not running on my computer, i don't know if there is other application using the same port in Win8. Please help!

    My broadband speed is sometimes lacking, and therefore it can be difficult to view Flash streams of programmes. So my idea is to start a Flash stream, let it run to completion no matter how long it takes, and then view the temporary .swf file. I've discovered the location of my Google Chrome temporary files. However, there is no file type associated with these files. Therefore, I'm wondering if the idea above will work, and how can I retrieve only .swf files?

    I often find this in scripts (and, I have to admit, write it myself): a=`echo $x | sed "s/foo/bar/"` or if echo $x | grep foo then ... fi Consider "foo" to include some regex stuff. I feel that there should be - and most likely is - a better way to phrase this, one that does not involve two commands and a pipe but wraps the thing into some more compact expression. I just can't find it. Anybody?

  • What's a good way to move large amounts of files from one place to another, using the file path?

    I'm going to move my Winamp library from its current location (in various folders inside My Documents) to My Music, but I can't just drag and drop them, as there's thousands of files within My Documents that I don't want moved. I can get the path of every single music file from Winamp, but I don't know any way to move them all. I'd like some way to maintain their current folder arrangement, and not just dump all the files in a single folder, unorganised.

  • How can I make vim show the current class and method I'm editing

    Does anyone know if it's possible (or know of an existing vim script or plugin) that can create a "status bar" that shows the name of the current class and method (or function) I'm editing? I'm imagining that it would plug into the syntax parser for the filetype of the current buffer, and display a breadcrumb trail to show you what you're currently editing. I don't know vimscript well enough to suggest any more than that, but if there aren't any good solutions already, I may begin to hack on one, so suggestions as to where to start are welcome, too!

    I currently have the Buttons on other taskbars set so Never combine So I can have multiple Chrome windows open and will see multiple Chromes on the taskbar. Now the problem is that sometimes I don't really know which one I'm currently looking at. Is there a way to have the active application take on a different color or some other indication that it's the active window. To clarify I don't need the title bar of the application to be a different color, just the "button" that shows up on the taskbar This is for windows 8

  • How do I group Quick Launch icons in Windows Vista?

    My quick launch task bar has about 30 icons and is pretty unmanegable. What I would like is to create Quick Launch groups, so I can move my mouse over the "Design Group" icon and a pop-up/menu will appear that shows my icons for Illustrator, Photoshop, etc... I can almost get there by linking to a folder and having my Design icons in there, but I have to click on the icon. Can anyone recommend anything here?
