  • Android -- SDK/IDE Layout Bug (w/Custom Layouts)??

    - by borg17of20
    Hello all, Can someone tell me if this is a bug in the SDK/IDE: Any custom or extended layout I add to my layout XML causes the IDE to ignore the fact that there are any child views of that layout (they just disappear from the outline view/window), thus making them uneditable via the properties view/window. (I need to extend a layout to make onSetAlpha() public) FYI: I'm developing for Android 1.5 and up, using all the latest plug-ins/updates in Eclipse Here is a simple example of a layout XML and the extended Layout that causes this error. [Extended Layout] package com.test; public class CustomLinearLayout extends LinearLayout { public CustomLinearLayout(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); } public CustomLinearLayout(Context context) { super(context); } } [Simple layout XML] <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <com.test.CustomLinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ImageView01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"></ImageView> </com.test.CustomLinearLayout> ImageView01 is not visible or editable in the properties or outline views/windows. Thanks.

  • Video not playing on android webview

    - by rand
    I am working with an Android and PhoneGap application and am using the HTML5 video tag to play videos on my web page. When I play the video is not visible and video is not playing itself. How can I play a HTML5 video on Android? Code for the same given below <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-1.8.1.js"></script> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset="> <title></title> </head> <body > <video id="video" autobuffer height="240" width="360" onclick="this.play();> <source src="test.mp4"> <source src="test.mp4" type="video/webm"> <source src="test.mp4" type="video/ogg"> </video> <div id="msg"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> </script> </body> </html> and the activity class onCreate method-- public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); final WebView webView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); WebSettings webSettings = webView.getSettings(); webSettings.setLayoutAlgorithm(LayoutAlgorithm.NARROW_COLUMNS); webView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); webSettings.setBuiltInZoomControls(true); webSettings.setPluginState(PluginState.ON); webView.getSettings().setPluginsEnabled(true); webSettings.setAllowFileAccess(true); webView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/html5videoEvents.html"); }

  • Project Euler #14 and memoization in Clojure

    - by dbyrne
    As a neophyte clojurian, it was recommended to me that I go through the Project Euler problems as a way to learn the language. Its definitely a great way to improve your skills and gain confidence. I just finished up my answer to problem #14. It works fine, but to get it running efficiently I had to implement some memoization. I couldn't use the prepackaged memoize function because of the way my code was structured, and I think it was a good experience to roll my own anyways. My question is if there is a good way to encapsulate my cache within the function itself, or if I have to define an external cache like I have done. Also, any tips to make my code more idiomatic would be appreciated. (use 'clojure.test) (def mem (atom {})) (with-test (defn chain-length ([x] (chain-length x x 0)) ([start-val x c] (if-let [e (last(find @mem x))] (let [ret (+ c e)] (swap! mem assoc start-val ret) ret) (if (<= x 1) (let [ret (+ c 1)] (swap! mem assoc start-val ret) ret) (if (even? x) (recur start-val (/ x 2) (+ c 1)) (recur start-val (+ 1 (* x 3)) (+ c 1))))))) (is (= 10 (chain-length 13)))) (with-test (defn longest-chain ([] (longest-chain 2 0 0)) ([c max start-num] (if (>= c 1000000) start-num (let [l (chain-length c)] (if (> l max) (recur (+ 1 c) l c) (recur (+ 1 c) max start-num)))))) (is (= 837799 (longest-chain))))

  • Weird problem with PHP mail() under Linux.

    - by Vilx-
    This is the case when it "works on my machine". Except that my machine is Windows, and the target is some sort of Linux. The idea is that the mail() function puts a newline between the MIME-Version and Content-Type headers, thus breaking the whole thing. Here's the code, simpliefied as much as possible: <?php $HTMLPart = chunk_split(base64_encode('<html><body style="color: red">Test.</body></html>')); $PlaintextPart = chunk_split(base64_encode('>>> TEST <<<')); $Headers =<<<AKAM From: "My Test" <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="9-1410065408-1410065408=:27514" AKAM; $Body =<<<AKAM This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --9-1410065408-1410065408=:27514 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 $PlaintextPart --9-1410065408-1410065408=:27514 Content-Type: text/html; charset="windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 $HTMLPart --9-1410065408-1410065408=:27514-- AKAM; echo 'Try 3: '; echo mail('[email protected]', 'Testmail', $Body, $Headers) ?   • gcc -finline-functions behaviour?

    - by user176168
    I'm using gcc with the -finline-functions optimization for release builds. In order to combat code bloat because I work on an embedded system I want to say don't inline particular functions. The obvious way to do this would be through function attributes ie attribute(noinline). The problem is this doesn't seem to work when I switch on the global -finline-functions optimisation which is part of the -O3 switch. It also has something to do with it being templated as a non templated version of the same function doesn't get inlined which is as expected. Has anybody any idea of how to control inlining when this global switch is on? Here's the code: #include <cstdlib> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class Base { public: template<typename _Type_> static _Type_ fooT( _Type_ x, _Type_ y ) __attribute__ (( noinline )); }; template<typename _Type_> _Type_ Base::fooT( _Type_ x, _Type_ y ) { asm(""); return x + y; } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int test = Base::fooT( 1, 2 ); printf( "test = %d\n", test ); system("PAUSE"); return EXIT_SUCCESS; }

  • PHP strtotime without leap-years

    - by Christian Sciberras
    With regards to this thread, I've developed a partial solution: function strtosecs($time,$now=null){ static $LEAPDIFF=86400; $time=strtotime($time,$now); return $time-((date('Y',$time)-1968)/4*$LEAPDIFF); } The function is supposed to get the number of seconds given a string without checking leap-years. It does this calculating the number of leap-years 1970 [(year-1986)/4], multiplying it by the difference in seconds between a leap-year and a normal year (which in the end, it's just the number of seconds in a day). Finally, I simply remove all those excess leap-year seconds from the calculated time. Here's some examples of the inputs/outputs: // test code echo strtosecs('+20 years',0).'=>'.(strtosecs('+20 years',0)/31536000); echo strtosecs('+1 years',0).'=>'.(strtosecs('+1 years',0)/31536000); // test output 630676800 => 19.998630136986 31471200 => 0.99794520547945 You will probably ask why am I doing a division on the output? It's to test it out; 31536000 is the number of seconds in a year, so that 19.99... should be 20 and 0.99... should be a 1. Sure, I could round it all and get "correct" answer, but I'm worried about the inaccuracies.

  • final transient fields and serialization

    - by doublep
    Is it possible to have final transient fields that are set to any non-default value after serialization in Java? My usecase is a cache variable — that's why it is transient. I also have a habit of making Map fields that won't be changed (i.e. contents of the map is changed, but object itself remains the same) final. However, these attributes seem to be contradictory — while compiler allows such a combination, I cannot have the field set to anything but null after unserialization. I tried the following, without success: simple field initialization (shown in the example): this is what I normally do, but the initialization doesn't seem to happen after unserialization; initialization in constructor (I believe this is semantically the same as above though); assigning the field in readObject() — cannot be done since the field is final. In the example cache is public only for testing. import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class test { public static void main (String[] args) throws Exception { X x = new X (); System.out.println (x + " " + x.cache); ByteArrayOutputStream buffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream (); new ObjectOutputStream (buffer).writeObject (x); x = (X) new ObjectInputStream (new ByteArrayInputStream (buffer.toByteArray ())).readObject (); System.out.println (x + " " + x.cache); } public static class X implements Serializable { public final transient Map <Object, Object> cache = new HashMap <Object, Object> (); } } Output: test$X@1a46e30 {} test$X@190d11 null

  • Need an advice for unit testing using mock object

    - by Andree
    Hi there, I just recently read about "Mocking objects" for unit testing and currently I'm having a difficulties implementing this approach in my application. Please let me explain my problem. I have a User model class, which is dependent on 2 data sources (database and facebook web service). The controller class simply use this User model as an interface to access data and it doesn't care about where the data came from. Currently I never done any unit test to this User model because it is dependent on an external web service. But just a while ago, I read about object mocking and now I know that it is a common approach to unit test a class that depends on external resources (like in my case). Now I want to create a unit test for the User model, but then I encountered a design issue: In order for the User model to use a mocked Facebook SDK, I have to inject this mocked Facebook SDK to the User object (probably using a setter). Therefore I can't construct the Facebook SDK inside the User object. I have to construct it outside the User object, and inject the SDK into the User object. The real client of my User model is the application's controller. Therefore I have to construct the Facebook SDK inside the controller and inject it to the user object. Well, this is a problem because I want my controller to be as clean as possible. I want my controller to be ignorant about the application's data source. I'm not good at explaining something systematically, so you'll probably sleeping before reading this last paragraph. But anyway, I want to ask if anyone here ever encountered the same problem as mine? How do you solve this problem? Regards, Andree

  • I want tell the VC++ Compiler to compile all code. Can it be done?

    - by KGB
    I am using VS2005 VC++ for unmanaged C++. I have VSTS and am trying to use the code coverage tool to accomplish two things with regards to unit tests: See how much of my referenced code under test is getting executed See how many methods of my code under test (if any) are not unit tested at all Setting up the VSTS code coverage tool (see the link text) and accomplishing task #1 was straightforward. However #2 has been a surprising challenge for me. Here is my test code. class CodeCoverageTarget { public: std::string ThisMethodRuns() { return "Running"; } std::string ThisMethodDoesNotRun() { return "Not Running"; } }; #include <iostream> #include "CodeCoverageTarget.h" using namespace std; int main() { CodeCoverageTarget cct; cout<<cct.ThisMethodRuns()<<endl; } When both methods are defined within the class as above the compiler automatically eliminates the ThisMethodDoesNotRun() from the obj file. If I move it's definition outside the class then it is included in the obj file and the code coverage tool shows it has not been exercised at all. Under most circumstances I want the compiler to do this elimination for me but for the code coverage tool it defeats a significant portion of the value (e.g. finding untested methods). I have tried a number of things to tell the compiler to stop being smart for me and compile everything but I am stumped. It would be nice if the code coverage tool compensated for this (I suppose by scanning the source and matching it up with the linker output) but I didn't find anything to suggest it has a special mode to be turned on. Am I totally missing something simple here or is this not possible with the VC++ compiler + VSTS code coverage tool? Thanks in advance, KGB

  • Doctrine-CLI database creation issue.

    - by gokujou
    I have Doctrine setup in my Zend Framework application and I built my schema YAML file. But when I tell Doctrine to build the tables it says it does but it doesn't actually make them. It creates the models, and will create the DB but it will not populate the DB with the tables and throws no errors. Does anyone have a guess or know why this is not working? Thank you.

  • Queuing using table or MSMQ?

    - by Lieven Cardoen
    A part of the application I'm working on is an swf that shows a test with some 80 questions. Each question is saved to a sql server through WebORB and asp.net. If a candidate finisheds the test, the session needs to be validated. Problem now is that sometimes 350 candidates finish their test at the same moment, and cpu on webserver and sql server explodes (350 validations concurrently). Now, how would I implement queuing here? In the database, there's a table that has a record for each session. One column holds the status. 1 is finished, 2 is validated. I could implement queuing in two ways (as I see it, maybe you have other propositions): A process that checks the table for records with status 1. If it finds one, it validates the session. So, sessions are validated one after one. If a candidate finishes its session, a message is sent to a MSMQ queue. Another process listens to the queue and validates sessions one after one. Now, What would be the best approach? Where do you start the process that will validate sessions? In your global.asax (application_start)? As a windows service? As an exe on the root of the website that is started in application_start? To me, using the table and looking for records with status 1 seems the easiest way.

  • Testing When Correctness is Poorly Defined?

    - by dsimcha
    I generally try to use unit tests for any code that has easily defined correct behavior given some reasonably small, well-defined set of inputs. This works quite well for catching bugs, and I do it all the time in my personal library of generic functions. However, a lot of the code I write is data mining code that basically looks for significant patterns in large datasets. Correct behavior in this case is often not well defined and depends on a lot of different inputs in ways that are not easy for a human to predict (i.e. the math can't reasonably be done by hand, which is why I'm using a computer to solve the problem in the first place). These inputs can be very complex, to the point where coming up with a reasonable test case is near impossible. Identifying the edge cases that are worth testing is extremely difficult. Sometimes the algorithm isn't even deterministic. Usually, I do the best I can by using asserts for sanity checks and creating a small toy test case with a known pattern and informally seeing if the answer at least "looks reasonable", without it necessarily being objectively correct. Is there any better way to test these kinds of cases?

  • Starting an STA thread, but with parameters to the final function

    - by DRapp
    I'm a bit weak on how some delegates behave, such as passing a method as the parameter to be invoked. While trying to do some NUnit test scripts, I have something that I need to run many test with. Each of these tests requires a GUI created and thus the need for an STA thread. So, I have something like public class MyTest { // the Delegate "ThreadStart" is part of the System.Threading namespace and is defined as // public delegate void ThreadStart(); protected void Start_STA_Thread(ThreadStart whichMethod) { Thread thread = new Thread(whichMethod); thread.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); //Set the thread to STA thread.Start(); thread.Join(); } [Test] public void Test101() { // Since the thread issues an INVOKE of a method, I'm having it call the // corresponding "FromSTAThread" method, such as Start_STA_Thread( Test101FromSTAThread ); } protected void Test101FromSTAThread() { MySTA_RequiredClass oTmp = new MySTA_RequiredClass(); Assert.IsTrue( oTmp.DoSomething() ); } } This part all works fine... Now the next step. I now have a different set of tests that ALSO require an STA thread. However, each "thing" I need to do requires two parameters... both strings (for this case). How do I go about declaring proper delegate so I can pass in the method I need to invoke, AND the two string parameters in one shot... I may have 20+ tests to run with in this pattern and may have future of other similar tests with different parameter counts and types of parameters too. Thanks.

  • Create a multicolor selectbox on Symfony2

If in my view I do : {{ form_widget(myForm.test, { 'attr': { 'class': 'red', } }) }} Or if in my form I do : $builder->add('test', 'choice', array( 'required' => true, 'choices' => array('a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e'), 'attr' => array('class' => 'red'), )); The attribute is stored into the <select> tag and apply to the whole selectable values. How do I apply a class to an <option> in Symfony2 ?

  • Lambda Functions in PHP aren't Logical

    Note: I have condensed this article into my person wiki: http://wiki.chacha102.com/Lambda - Enjoy I am having some troubles with Lambda style functions in PHP. First, This Works: $foo = function(){ echo "bar"; }; $foo(); Second, This Works: class Bar{ public function foo(){ echo "Bar"; } Third, This works: $foo = new stdClass; $foo->bar = function(){ echo "bar"; }; $test = $foo->bar; $test(); But, this does not work: $foo = new stdClass; $foo->bar = function(){ echo "bar"; }; $foo->bar(); And, this does not work class Bar{ public function foo(){ echo "Bar"; } $foo = new Bar; $foo->foo = function(){ echo "foo"; }; $foo->foo(); // echo's bar instead of Foo. My Question is Why?, and how can I assure that both this: $foo->bar = function(){ echo "test"; }; $foo->bar(); and this $foo = new Bar; $foo->bar(); are called properly? Extra Points if you can point to documentation stating why this problem occurs.

  • Command or tool to display list of connections to a Windows file share

    - by BizTalkMama
    Is there a Windows command or tool that can tell me what users or computers are connected to a Windows fileshare? Here's why I'm looking for this: I've run into issues in the past where our deployment team has deployed BizTalk applications to one of our environments using the wrong bindings, leaving us with two receive locations pointing to the same file share (i.e. both dev and test servers point to dev receive location uri). When this occurs, the two environments in question tend to take turns processing the files received (meaning if I am attempting to debug something in one environment and the other environment has picked the file up, it looks as if my test file has disappeared into thin air). We have several different environments, plus individual developer machines, and I'd rather not have to check each individually to find the culprit. I'm looking for a quick way to detect what locations are connected to the share once I notice my test files vanishing. If I can determine the connections that are invalid, I can go directly to the person responsible for that environment and avoid the time it takes to randomly ask around. Or if the connections appear to be correct, I can go directly to troubleshooting where in the process the message gets lost. Any suggestions?

Here is something along the lines of what I'm doing: private List<string> items; public List<string> list_items() { return this.items; } public void set_items(List<string> new_items) { this.items = new_items; } In the IronRuby interpreter I run: >>> require "SOTest.dll" true >>> include TestNamespace Object >>> myClass = Test.new TestNamespace.Test >>> myClass.list_items() ['Apples', 'Oranges', 'Pears'] >>> myClass.set_items ['Peaches', 'Plums'] TypeError: can't convert Array into System::Collections::Generic::List(string) I get a similar error whether I make the argument a 'List< string ', 'List< object ' or 'string[ ]'. What is the proper syntax? I can't find a documented mapping of types anywhere (because it's likely too complicated to define in certain scenarios given what Ruby can do).
