• TCP/IP RST being sent differently in different browsers.

  On Mac OS X (10.6), if I start a YouTube video download and pull the Ethernet cable for 5 or so seconds, then plug it back in, I get varying results depending on the browser. With Opera and Chrome, after I plug the cable back in the video continues to load. But with Safari and Firefox, it never does. Using Wireshark to look at the traffic, I found that Opera and Chrome simply ACK the first packet from YouTube after the cable has been plugged back in, but Safari and Firefox set the RST flag (0x4) in the TCP header and no more traffic follows. I can put a HUB in between the machine and the internet connection, the problem goes away and all four browsers continue loading the video when the cable is plugged back into the HUB. Again, looking at the Wireshark logs, it's evident that the machine doesn't see the Mulitcast connection close and there is simply a delay in the packets flowing through. So it seems that if Safari and Firefox sees a Multicast connection close, and then later see data on that same connection, they will send a RST. My question is why? What is the correct course of action, and why are 2/4 browsers doing it one way, while the other 2/4 are doing it another way? Is there somewhere in the code that I can see where this is happening in Firefox, for instance? Thank you very much.

• Why does this javascript code have an infinite loop?

  optionElements is a 2d array. Each element has an array of length 2. These are an integer number and an element. I have a select list called linkbox, and i want to add all of the elements to the select list. The order I want them to go in is important, and is determined by the number each element has. It should be smallest to highest. So think of it like this: optionElements is: [ [5, <option>], [3, <option], [4, <option], [1, <option], [2, <option]] and it would add them to link box in order of those numbers. BUT that is not what happens. It is an infinite loop after the first time. • How to ignore the validation of Unknown tags ?

  One more challenge to the XSD capability,I have been sending XML files by my clients, which will be having 0 or more undefined or [call] unexpected tags (May appear in hierarchy). Well they are redundant tags for me .. so I have got to ignore their presence, but along with them there are some set of tags which are required to be validated. This is a sample XML: <root> <undefined_1>one</undefined_1> <undefined_2>two</undefined_2> <node>to_be_validated</node> <undefined_3>two</undefined_3> <undefined_4>two</undefined_4> </root> And the XSD I tried with: <xs:element name="root" type="root"></xs:element> <xs:complexType name="root"> <xs:sequence> <xs:any maxOccurs="2" minOccurs="0"/> <xs:element name="node" type="xs:string"/> <xs:any maxOccurs="2" minOccurs="0"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType XSD doesn't allow this, due to certain reasons. The above mentioned example is just a sample. The practical XML comes with the complex hierarchy of XML tags .. Kindly let me know if you can get a hack of it. By the way, The alternative solution is to insert XSL-transformation, before validation process. Well, I am avoiding it because I need to change the .Net code which triggers validation process, which is supported at the least by my company.

• How important is the website logo on a page?

  I have stopped to insert "img" tags for the logo of the page. Because its not an image that is part of the content, its a design element but its still a information I want to have control over. So I just write the title in a "a" element as display: block, overflow: hidden and I push the text out with some padding. I think thats a good solution for SEO because you are keeping control of how important the logo should be on a page. But now my dilemma is starting. How important is the logo of a page? "A list apart" puts the logo in a h1 element. But is the logo really that important? On article pages you have two H1 elements (the logo and the title of the article) Most of the sites just use a img balbal /a, but I don't like this solution. Because I just want to use img for images that are part of the content... Its kinda philosophical question, I hope you can give me some input or some articles to read about that...

And after if i click on row(anyrow), i want to rollback previous operation. i.e. replace texts with html element. and htmlElement.val()=text. • jQuery Fancy - popup window doesn't fully expand

  I am using jQuery Fancybox to display a number of Flash videos on a site and I am having trouble with the window not opening fully on the first click in Firefox. It works fine in other browsers. I open my camera with cameraRecorder = Camera.open(1); //(this is the front facing camera) And get the camera parameters and all supported preview sizes CameraParameters tmpParams = cameraRecorder.getParameters(); List<Camera.Size> tmpList = tmpParams.getSupportedPreviewSizes(); one of the preview sizes on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 running ICS (4.0.4) is 800x600 but when I try to set the Video size in my media Player mediaRecorder.setVideoSize(800,600); I get this error: 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/CameraSource(110): Video dimension (800x600) is unsupported 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): cameraSource do not init 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): setupCameraSource failed. What I am doing is deleting values from it while the iterator 'dx' is running through it. Here is what I expect from the code : Iteration versus element being pointed to (*): 0: [*0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36] 1: [0, *1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36] ( delete 2nd and 5th element after this iteration ) 2: [0, 4, *9, 25, 36] 3: [0, 4, 9, *25, 36] ( delete -1th element after this iteration ) 4: [0, 4, 9, 25*] ( as the iterator points to nothing/end of list, the loop terminates ) .. and here is what I get: [0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36] 0 1 9 25 [0, 4, 9, 25] As you can see - what I expect is what I get - which is contrary to the behaviour I have had from other languages in such a scenario. Hence - I wanted to ask you if there is some rule like "the iterator becomes invalid if you mutate its space during iteration" in Python? Is it safe ( documented behaviour? ) in Python to do stuff like this?

• jQuery select by two name roots and perform one of two function depending on which root was selected

  I'm trying to get this code to work in jQuery and I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration of each root element, its alternate root element for that same iteration doesn't contain anything. Otherwise it sets the .val("") property to an empty string. Looking for a simple solution if possible using search, find, or swap. Each matching number is on the same row level and the same iteration count. I have two input types of input text elements with two different root names like so: 1st Root is "rootA" <input type="text" name="rootA1" /> <input type="text" name="rootA2 /> <input type="text" name="rootA3" /> 2nd Root is "rootB" <input type="text" name="rootB1" /> <input type="text" name="rootB2 /> <input type="text" name="rootB3" /> On blur if any of rootA is called call function fnRootA();. On blur if any of rootB is called call function fnRootB();. Again, I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration like 1 that the alternate root doesn't contain anything, else it sets the .val("") property to an empty string of the root being blurred.   I have a page with a div id="videoFrame" that holds the video tag. The videos have variable heights so I have a function to grab the height value and plug it into the css of the div id="videoFrame like so: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); $('#videoFrame').css('height',videoHeight+'px'); This works great. But here's the part driving me crazy. I have a p tag with disclaimers at the bottom of the div id="videoFrame". So I would like to add an additional 26px to the returned height. I tried: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); var frameHeight = videoHeight + 26; $('#videoFrame').css('height',frameHeight+'px'); But as you would expect it is adding 26 to the end of the returned value. i.e. if returned value is 337 output for var frameHeight is 33726. I can not for the life of me figure out how to do this. Thanks in advance for any help

• Inserting Row in Table inside Form tag autosubmitting in firefox/chrome

  I have a form that will have dynamic elements inserted with javascript and am experiencing some strange behavior.   I'm new to PHP =) Right now I am using PHP includes for my site template. I have my header, containing all my <head></head> info. What I want to do is write a code that will take the contents of the <h1></h1> tag from the page, and echo it into the <title></title> tag in my header.php include. I got the PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser from here: http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/, and I found a code (I forget where in all my googling) that goes like this: <?php $url = (!empty($_SERVER['HTTPS'])) ? Like I said, I'm new to PHP and I only know the basics, and I don't know really know any OOP (yet), so I'm sorry if I'm asking a dumb question. It looks like it's getting the current page, then putting the contents of the h1 tag into the variable $element, and then echoing it. But nothing happens when I put it into my page. • jQuery fade li elemet and cycle it when mouse hovered.

  I'm trying to recreate an effect in jQuery, where an element(<li> <img>) will be cycled and has a fading effect when hovered. The '<li>' contains '<img>' (image screenshots). when the mouse is on top of element it will keep cycling all that are in '<ul>' with a fading effect. when the mouse is away it will stop cycling the list. I also want to add a pager where you can navigate to the list. My Existing Code: link text My Problem: The current code has some problem with the pagination, it added all images that can be seen on the code. instead of 1-8 only, it continued to add another 1-8 and another. Second problem is, It also start cycling and fading when the page loads. The cycling and fading should only be working when the mouse is on top of the element. I don't know if the 'Cycle Plugin' is really required on this approach, I wan't it to be minimal as much as possible. I just use 'Cycle Plugin' because it's a quick answer to my problem.   Hello, Let's imagine that we have high traffic project (a tube site) which should provide sorting using this options (NOT IN REAL TIME). Number of videos is about 200K and all information about videos is stored in MySQL. Number of daily video views is about 1.5KK. As instruments we have Hard Disk Drive (text files), MySQL, Redis. Views top viewed top viewed last 24 hours top viewed last 7 days top viewed last 30 days top rated last 365 days How should I store such information? The first idea is to log all visits to text files (single file per hour, for example visits_20080101_00.log). At the beginning of each hour calculate views per video for previous hour and insert this information into MySQL. Then recalculate totals (for last 24 hours) and update statistics in tables. At the beginning of every day we have to do the same but recalculate for last 7 days, last 30 days, last 365 days. This method seems to be very poor for me because we have to store information about last 365 days for each video to make correct calculations. Is there any other good methods? Probably, we have to choose another instruments for this? Thank you.

• jQuery .val() Selector Confusion

  I've kind of written myself into a corner, and was hoping there was an "easy" way out. I'm trying to loop through a series of things on my page, and build a key:value pair. Here is my structure: <div class="divMapTab" id="divMapTab34"> <div class="divFieldMap"> <select class="selSrc" id="selTargetnamex"><options....></select> </div> </div> <div class="divMapTab" id="divMapTab87"> <div class="divFieldMap"> <select class="selSrc" id="selTargetnamex"><options....></select> </div> </div> It's way more complicated than that, and there are many select elements inside of each divFieldMap div. Here is my JS function that is building my string: function Save() { var sSaveString = ''; $('.divMapTab').each(function() { var thisId = this.id; $('.selSrc', "#" + thisId).each(function() { var thisSubId = this.id; //alert(thisSubId); <-- HERE IS THE PROBLEM var sTargetCol = thisSubId.replace('selTarget', ''); var sValue = this.val(); sSaveString += sTargetCol + '¸' + sValue + '·'; }); }); } On the line that has the alert box and the text "HERE IS THE PROBLEM" is that I'm trying to get the selected value of the "current" select input element, but the id of that element isn't unique (I thought it would be, but I screwed up). Is there a good way, inside of an "each" type of jQuery statement, to use "this" to get the exact select element that I really am looking for, even if it doesn't have a unique id?

• My HTML5 web app crashes and I have no clue how to debug

  Hi All, I have written a word game using HTML5 canvas tag and a little bit of audio. I developed the application on the chrome web browser on a linux system. Recently during the testing phase it was tried on safari 5.0.3 on Mac and the webpage froze. Not just the canvas element, but interactive element on the page froze. I have at some times experienced this problem on google chrome when I was developing but since the console did not throw any error before this happened, I did not give it much credence. Now as per requirements I am supposed to support both chrome and safari but this dismal performance on safari has left me shocked and I cannot see what error can be thrown which might lead to such a situation. Worse yet the CPU usage on using this application peaks to 70-80percent on my 2yr old macbook running ubuntu... I can only but pity the person who uses mac to operate this app, which undoubtedly is a heavier OS. Could someone help me out with a place I can start with to find out what exactly is causing this issue. I have run profiles on this webapp on google chromes console and noticed that in the heap spanshot value increases steadily with the playing of the game, specifically (root) value which jumps up by 900 counts. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I have noticed that even on refreshing the page after the app becomes unresponsive the page reloads and I am still not able to interact with the page elements but the tab scroll bar continues to work and I can see my application window completely. So to summaries the tab stops accepting any sort of user interaction inside the page. Edit2: Nop. It doesn't work still... The app crashes on double click on the canvas element. The console is not throwing any errors either! =/ I have noticed this problem is isolated only to safari!
