• Installation of SAP Web Application Server 6.20 fails

  I tried installing a trial version of SAP NetWeaver 7.1 on Windows Vista on my laptop but I couldn't succeed. Then I tried installing SAP Web Application Server 6.20. The installation goes all the way to 91%, at which point I get some errors and the installation stops. Does anyone have any experience with this? • How to migrate from Natara DayNotez for Pocket PC / Windows Mobile

  I've been using DayNotez as my notes manager since the old Palm PDA days. When I moved to Windows Mobile, I installed DayNotez there and migrated from the Palm version. Now I wish to move from DayNotez altogether (I currently consider Evernote as a decent cross-platform tool). Problem is, DayNotez doesn't let me export the notes (unless I want to transfer them one by one, which is a pain). Natara offers an export tool for Windows, but it only works for Palm HotSync (as it reads from the backed-up PDB file). DayNotez Desktop for Windows stores its local DB under "My Documents\Natara\DayNotez\" directory in a file named "[device name] DayNotez.dnz". Quick look within the file spots a string "Standard Jet DB" near the beginning, but I couldn't open it as a regular JET/MDB file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have researched it, but cant seem to find a solution, I have done the following: Cleared cache and cookies Checked the php.ini (see below) Checked the logs (found nothing relevant) Given the correct permissions. I have found very little documentation on migrating the data. The schema has 13 tables (which have been migrated successfully) and 9 GB of data. MySQL version: 5.1.x PostgreSQL version: 8.4.x I want to use the R programming language to analyze the data using SQL select statements; PostgreSQL has PL/R, but MySQL has nothing (as far as I can tell). A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Create the database location (/var has insufficient space; also dislike having the PostgreSQL version number everywhere -- upgrading would break scripts!): sudo mkdir -p /home/postgres/main sudo cp -Rp /var/lib/postgresql/8.4/main /home/postgres sudo chown -R postgres.postgres /home/postgres sudo chmod -R 700 /home/postgres sudo usermod -d /home/postgres/ postgres All good to here. • Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

  I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? The first release of Sikuli contains Sikuli Script, a visual scripting API for Jython, and Sikuli IDE, an integrated development environment for writing visual scripts with screenshots easily. Sikuli Script automates anything you see on the screen without internal API's support. You can programmatically control a web page, a desktop application running on Windows/Linux/Mac OS X, or even an iphone application running in an emulator. As this looks very promising, perhaps complementary to AutoHotKey I'm curious what scripts you guys will come up with. Especially since this program is portable and could solve "simple" Super User problems. • Need help making an ODBC MySQL Connection

  Short Version: How do I connect from PowerShell to an ODBC 5.1 MySQL Driver? I can't seem to find any connection strings that accurately have a "Provider" field for this particular instance. (See bottom of this question for examples/errors) ===== Long Version: I'm not a server guy, and I've been handed the task of setting up PowerGadgets on our network. I have a MySQL server running on a Linux box, that is configured for remote access and has a user defined for remote access as well. On my windows desktop PC, I have PowerGadgets installed. I installed the MySQL ODBC 5.1 connector, and went to Control Panel Data Sources and set up a User DSN connection to the database. The connection, user, and pass seem to be correct because it lists the tables of the database in my windows control panel. Where I'm running into trouble is in 3 places in PowerGadgets: When selecting a data source, I can select "SQL Server". Inputting the servers IP address does not work and I can't get this option to work at all. When selecting a data source, I can select "OleDB". This screen has a wizard on it, that appears to populate all the correct information (including database table names!) for me. "Test Connection" runs great. But if I try to complete the wizard, I get the error "The .NET Framework data provider for OLEDB does not support the MS Ole DB provider for ODBC Drivers." When selecting a data source, I can select "ODBC". This screen does not have a wizard and I cannot figure out a "connection string" that works. Typically it will respond with the error "The field 'Provider' is missing". Googling ODBC connection strings doesn't reveal any examples with a "provider" field and have no idea what to put in here. The connection string (for #2) above contains "SQLOLEDB" as a provider, and upon inputting that value into this connection string I get the same connection error that #2 gets.   From an answer I gave to another question: There are comment filtering services out there that can analyse comments in a manner similar to mail spam filters (all links to the client API page, organised from simplest API to most complex): Steve Kemp (again) has an xml-rpc-based comment filter: it's how Debian filters comments, and the code is free software, meaning you can run your own comment filtering server if you like; There's Akismet, which is from the WordPress universe; There's Mollom, which has an impressive list of users. It's closed source; it might say "not sure" about comments, intended to suggest offering a captcha to check the user. For myself, I'm happy with offline by-hand filtering, but I suggested Kemp's service to someone who had an underwhelming experience with Mollom, and I'd like to pass on more reports from anyone who has tried these or other services.

Backup all top level sites from CA site using the CA Sites backup and restore tools. turn off the old MOSSDEV01 (current server) rename the existing server (TempServ01) into MOSSDEV01 (so that the user bookmark and other link inside MOSS site still working) perform restore of the DB restore the site collection and its content from the backup is that the correct way to do it ? I haven't execute the server configuration wizard to create the same port number of the SSP, CA and the SQL Server DB yet. Any idea and suggestion would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

  I have been requested to investigate how I can reduce the downtime of our website upgrades. We maintain a DNN site with both public facing pages and member only pages. The member only pages are directly linked to our core application database while the public pages are not. Our current process is to redirect website users as soon as the upgrade process begins, which includes Backup of the Prod DB Update Prod DB Update Executables (Application) Upgrade Website Application (If this requires an update) Install Dependencies Upgrade sub systems like communication engine and payment broker Update various configuration files Perform testing of systems Restart all services Allow access to site This process can take from 2 to 8 hours depending on upgrade required, scripts to be run, size of database and number or portals. My initial thoughts are to restrict users to read only pages and any update pages would be unavailable. Could anyone please offer suggestions as to the best practices for what I would think to be a common problem so that we can reduce this down time and if we need infrastructure changes, I can put this to our technical department.

• trouble backing up large mysql database

  I have a wordpress MU database with something like 10,000+ tables for various user's blogs. I need to upgrade wordpress MU to newest version, but want to backup the DB before hand. PHPMyAdmin fails to even load the page when i click export. Ive tried going into the server (windows) and using dos command line: mysqldump -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD> BACKUP.sql but it hangs for a minute and gives me the error: error 23: out of resources when opinging file '.\USERNAME\wp_1037_links.MYD' (Errorcode: 24) when using LOCK Tables What am i doing wrong, or should i be doing? Is PHPMyAdmin right for something this size? Is there a better way of doing this than the two methods i tried? **Note that this is not my site, so any suggestions as to the setup of the DB ill have to run by the owner. Im just here for WP related crap, this is kind of out of scope for what i was brought on to do.

• MySQL and User level logging

  I have been looking at logging only certain users activity in MySQL. I found that the logging could be enabled or disabled for all users but one of the service using the db does a lot of queries and therefore I would like to only log specific users. Google told me that a flag can be SET to enable disable logging, however, I cannot modify the service DB connection code and asking every single user to enable logging before they do anything might not be as reliable as I want. So, do you know if there is any way to log only a set of users queries ? Thanks !

  I've configured my Ubuntu 10.04 Server LTS Beta 2 residing on a windows network to authenticate logins using active directory, then mount a windows share to serve as there home directory. Here is what I did starting from the initial installation of Ubuntu. Download and install Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS Beta 2 Get updates # sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade Install an SSH server (sshd) # sudo apt-get install openssh-server Some would argue that you should "lock sshd down" by disabling root logins. I figure if your smart enough to hack an ssh session for a root password, you're probably not going to be thwarted by the addition of PermitRootLogin no in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file. If your paranoid or not simply not convinced then edit the file or give the following a spin: # (grep PermitRootLogin /etc/ssh/sshd_conifg && sudo sed -ri 's/PermitRootLogin ).+/\1no/' /etc/ssh/sshd_conifg) || echo "PermitRootLogin not found. Add it manually." Install required packages # sudo apt-get install winbind samba smbfs smbclient ntp krb5-user Do some basic networking housecleaning in preparation for the specific package configurations to come. Determine your windows domain name, DNS server name, and IP address for the active directory server (for samba). For conveniance I set environment variables for the windows domain and DNS server. For me it was (my AD IP address was 192.168.20.11): # WINDOMAIN=mydomain.local && WINDNS=srv1.$WINDOMAIN If you want to figure out what your domain and DNS server is (I was contractor and didn't know the network) check out this helpful reference. The authentication and file sharing processes for the Windows and Linux boxes need to have their clocks agree. Do this with an NTP service, and on the server version of Ubuntu the NTP service comes installed and preconfigured. The network I was joining had the DNS server serving up the NTP service too. # sudo sed -ri "s/^(server[ \t]).+/\1$WINDNS/" /etc/ntp.conf Restart the NTP daemon # sudo /etc/init.d/ntp restart We need to christen the Linux box on the new network, this is done by editing the host file (replace the DNS of with the FQDN of the windows DNS): # sudo sed -ri "s/^(127\.0\.0\.1[ \t]).*/\1$(hostname).$WINDOMAIN localhost $(hostname)/" /etc/hosts Kerberos configuration. The instructions that follow here aren't to be taken literally: the values for MYDOMAIN.LOCAL and srv1.mydomain.local need to be replaced with what's appropriate for your network when you edit the files. Edit the (previously installed above) /etc/krb5.conf file. Find the [libdefaults] section and change (or add) the key value pair (and it is in UPPERCASE WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE): [libdefaults] default_realm = MYDOMAIN.LOCAL Add the following to the [realms] section of the file: MYDOMAIN.LOCAL = { kdc = srv1.mydomain.local admin_server = srv1.mydomain.local default_domain = MYDOMAIN.LOCAL } Add the following to the [domain_realm] section of the file: .mydomain.local = MYDOMAIN.LOCAL mydomain.local = MYDOMAIN.LOCAL Conmfigure samba. When it's all said done, I don't know where SAMBA fits in ... I used cifs to mount the windows shares ... regardless, my system works and this is how I did it. Replace /etc/samba/smb.conf (remember I was working from a clean distro of Ubuntu, so I wasn't worried about breaking anything): [global] security = ads realm = MYDOMAIN.LOCAL password server = 192.168.20.11 workgroup = MYDOMAIN idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid = 10000-20000 winbind enum users = yes winbind enum groups = yes template homedir = /home/%D/%U template shell = /bin/bash client use spnego = yes client ntlmv2 auth = yes encrypt passwords = yes winbind use default domain = yes restrict anonymous = 2 Start and stop various services. # sudo /etc/init.d/winbind stop # sudo service smbd restart # sudo /etc/init.d/winbind start Setup the authentication. Edit the /etc/nsswitch.conf. Here are the contents of mine: passwd: compat winbind group: compat winbind shadow: compat winbind hosts: files dns networks: files protocols: db files services: db files ethers: db files rpc: db files Start and stop various services. # sudo /etc/init.d/winbind stop # sudo service smbd restart # sudo /etc/init.d/winbind start At this point I could login, home directories didn't exist, but I could login. Later I'll come back and add how I got the cifs automounting to work. Numerous resources were considered so I could figure this out. • Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.

• ms sql 2005 server role problem

  On one of our sql 2005 servers we are no longer able to give any users server roles (ex. sysadmin). It appears to be successful both through the UI and through code. But when we check in the db and in the UI the role is unchecked and not shown for the user in the master db. Permissions don't seem to be the issue as we are testing this as system administrator levels of access. There are also no errors in the log. Any ideas? Thanks, Brandon

  I'm working on a simple "DB" for some people at work and I don't want to do anything fancy. the fields should be something like name , number , notes , File:resume, notes (where file:notes is the acutall embedded resume. I cant see any obvious way to do this but i thought i would ask just the same. Is there a way to take a (pdf , doc , docx , txt) and throw it into a cell so a user can click on it and it will open the file in the approate program note: this db is going to be floating around between multiple sites so linking won't work.
