  • Accessing network resources via vpn connection failes

    I already found some information on this problem here, but I still can't get it to work. Im trying to access some network resources on my server via vpn over the net. Im using a win7 home pc here and a win server 2008 rc2 with installed ras&routing role on the server. For vpn authentication I use a local user on the server with vpn-access. This user also has the rights to access to the network resources, but it neither finds the server under network nor is it able to connect the network drives... In similar topics here I found out that using the same credentials for vpn-authentication and network resources access does not work, but using different user for access didn't work either. All of these examples I found were in an active directory structure, but I don't have an active directory here. Does anyone know how to solve this problem without having to use an active directory?   • Mac OS X 10.6.5 and link-local addresses (169.254.x.x)

    Starting with the latest update of Mac OS X (10.6.5) all Apple applications (Safari, Mail, iChat, etc.) don't connect to the internet anymore, if the assigned IP address is from the 169.254.0.0./16 range. This is not a routing problem, I can still ping any server I want, even connecting via command line tools works. I know this problem could easily be fixed by changing the IP address to a more common RFC1918 address (e.g. 192.168.0.0./16), but this is what the ISP assigns via DHCP and I am not sure I can convince them (Xplornet) to change that. So I am wondering if there's a (hidden?) setting that would convince Apple applications, that they are in fact still online.

  • Configure IIS 7 Reverse Proxy to connect to TeamCity Tomcat

    We have an IIS 7 webserver configured and would like to create a reverse proxy for a TeamCity installation using Tomcat on the same machine. The IIS server site is https://somesite and I would like the TeamCity to appear as https://somesite/teamcity redirecting to http://localhost:portnumber. I have installed the IIS URL Rewrite extension and the Application Request Routing to try and setup a reverse proxy but can't get it working. The closest answer I found is an old StackOverflow question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/331755/how-do-i-setup-teamcity-for-public-access-over-https which unfortunately doesn't have any working example. I've searched a quite a bit but can't seem to find a relevant example. Any help is appreciated!

  • Best way to split LAN computers on two WANs (not load balancing)

    What is the best way to split the computers of a LAN (about 50 computers) to go on two WANs, depending on the computers' IP address or computers' configuration (gateway). I'm not looking for load-balancing, I need to be able to route which computer uses which Internet connection. A solution would be to rewire the old office to split the two distinct groups that need to use two different Internet connections but I'm not sure it's worth it at the moment. I have a pfSense router configured with the LAN (DHCP), WAN1 and WAN2. I also have the IP addresses (and ability to configure) the next router on WAN1 and the one on WAN2. What would you suggest? Routing based on IP addresses ranges? Different gateways? VLANs would be difficult for the same reason as to why rewire is a bit complicated. Thanks!

  • CPanel: Are there logs for login attempts?

    Hello, I tried to login into a cpanel account that hasn't been accessed for a few months and discovered that my login details no longer worked. When I reset the password and gained access into my domains control panel, my email password also didn't work. Upon that first attempt I was given a message reading "Brute force attempt..." So, does cpanel keep a list of logins? or login attempts? Thanks for any help!

    We are looking to converge VOIP and Data traffic onto a single wire so that our client's VOIP phones pass data through to the users computer. We are specing out a new Sonicwall NSA appliance to handle routing functions and layer 2 switches to manage VLANS. Not a huge network, medium sized. What should I know about converging the networks onto a single wire? Obviously I'll want to prioritize voice traffic, is this handled solely in the Sonicwall with QoS configurations or do the layer 2 switches need to be configured differently? Any other pitfalls I should be aware of, or any good resources for learning more?

    Thus far we've been using the combination of Forefront TMG 2010 as an edge firewall + intrusion prevention system + web site publishing mechanism in the data center to work with a few web server machines. Since we develop on ASP.NET, we are IIS and in general - Microsoft crowd. Since TMG is being deprecated, we need to come up with a hardware alternative to protect and serve our data center web cloud. Could you please advise a hardware or virtual appliance solution that can provide routing, flood prevention and smart web-site publishing (one IP - many web sites based on domain name filter) all in one. Even if it is hard to configure, as long as it covers all these features, we will invest to learn and replace TMG eventually.

    Constantly at my shop, we are moving Outlook (or other email program) files between computers or Windows Installations, and sometimes, people have HUNDREDS of folders. Is there a quick way to move ALL the folders from multiple data files (*.PST) into one single file, without dragging each and every folder? No, I don't want to move the Inbox folder into the other Inbox folder for the quick move, I want something simple like selecting all folders and moving that way.     I want to view websites hosted on my Mac when running Windows VMware Fusion. I have an entry in the Windows hosts file to enable the routing: #ip of my mac domain i use on the VM to access it 192.168.1.70 mymac However, it resolves to an empty directory as a 404 is generated. I can see the access log on my Mac that everything is OK access wise. Firefox on VMware states the following response headers: Server Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l DAV/2 PHP/5.3.1 Any ideas how I can figure out what directory is being served? I am lost in a maze of twisty httpd.conf passages. localhost on my Mac resolves to my ~/Sites directory. 192.168.1.70 resolves to the same empty directory/404. Thanks.

    I have an SSP setup for my site and I am trying to get the presence bubble working correctly. However, I cannot get the people search core results webpart to display the workemail. I have output the raw xml into my people search core results xslt and used the SharePoint Query Web Service Test Tool to try and find values for these properties, but they are appearing blank (including sipAddress and HighConfidenceDisplayProperty11). Note: The presence bubble does work when hard coded to users email address, so the problem is absolutely to do with the search results.

    Hi all, Just wondering if someone can assist me further with the set-up of OpenVPN on my Windows Server 2003. I have configured Win Server as per the following guide: http://tinyurl.com/kxusv and I'm now at the stage of Creating the config files. I have a few questions that I need some assistance with. My server IP is 192.168.1.10 and my routers IP address is 192.168.1.1 (the router is a Netgear DGN2000). I have edited the server.ovpn file as per the following: push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # Replace the Xs with the IP address of the DNS for your home network (usually your ISP's DNS) push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # A second DNS server if you have one to include my ISP DNS and I have not edited anything else. Now my issue is with the client1.opvpn file as per the below: client dev tap #dev-node MyTAP #If you renamed your TAP interface or have more than one TAP interface then remove the # at the beginning and change "MyTAP" to its name proto udp remote YOURHOST.dyndns.org 1194 #You will need to enter you dyndns account or static IP address here. The number following it is the port you set in the server's config route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3 #This it the IP address scheme and subnet of your normal network your server is on. The final part that I'm stuggling with is Configuring the router. Basically I have a Netgear DGN2000 and as it mentions that the router should be configured to port forward port 1194 to the server’s IP address of 192.168.1.150 all I have been able to do is in 'Firewall Rules' and on 'Inbound Services', set the Service to 'Any(ALL) and Send to LAN Server point to 1923.168.1.150. I'm not sure if this is correct? It is the following stage of the help guide that I'm struggling with and really need some help with: You need to make sure the port you configured OpenVPN to listen on is forwarded on the router to the IP address of your server. On the WRT54G, port forwarding is configured in the “Applications & Gaming” section. Enter 1194 for the port, UDP for the protocol, and 192.168.1.150 for the IP address. Make sure the entry is enabled and then save the setting. Next, you need to add an entry to the router’s Routing Table. This will enable the router to properly route requests from the clients to the TAP interface of the server. On the WRT54G you would go to the “Setup” page and then the “Advanced Routing” section. Enter the follwing info to make the entry: Enter Route Name: openVPN Destination LAN IP: 192.168.10.0 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.150 Interface: LAN & Wireless Once the info has been typed in make sure you save the setting. Can anyone possibly guide me through setting this part up with my Netgear router. I see that once I have these 2 parts complete I'm there so I would really appreciate someone walking me through what is required in completing this. Much appreciated.
