    I was going through some previous posts on CONNECT BY usage. What I need to find is that what to do if I want to get all the parents (i.e, up to root) and just one child for a node, say 4. It seems Like I will have to use union of the following two:- SELECT * FROM hierarchy START WITH id = 4 CONNECT BY id = PRIOR parent union SELECT * FROM hierarchy WHERE LEVEL =<2 START WITH id = 4 CONNECT BY parent = PRIOR id Is there a better way to do this, some workaround that is more optimized?

    If a variable is at class level (ie, private MyDataAccessClass _dataAccess;, can it be used as part of a using statement within the methods of that class to dispose of it correctly? Is it wise to use this method, or is it better to always declare a new variable with a using statement (ie, using (MyDataAccessClass dataAccess = new MyDataAccessClass()) instead of using (_dataAccess = new MyDataAccessClass()))?

    In Firefox, how do I set up URL shortcuts that include a wildcard, %s? I have definitely set this up before on another computer. For example, if I wanted to view a Jira ticket, I would enter jira XXX-1234 into the address bar and it would take me to http://jira.sutureself.com:1234/browse/XXX-1234. I remember the entry added to Firefox would be http://jira.sutureself.com:1234/browse/%s, but I can't remember where I add that. EDIT I might add, I have done this without any additional addons.

  • Fresh install of nginx causes browser to download index.html instead of opening it

    When I view this in Chrome, http://localhost:90 the file is downloaded instead of displayed in Chrome. This question has been asked a lot of times on SO, but about index.php files. My problem is a plain jane HTML file, not a PHP file. That hasn't been asked yet. I was hoping the solution would be similar, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Here's my example.com.conf: server { server_name localhost; listen 90; root /var/www/example.com/html index index.html location / { try_file $uri $uri/ =404; } } My index.html file contains only two words, no markup Hello World I think it's the mime.types. The mime.types file has the entry for html in it. This is a fresh nginx install. nginx -t reports "test is successful"

  • How can I select a default interactive console in pyDev?

    Using PyDev 2.7.1 in Eclipse 3.7.2, when I hit Ctrl-Alt-Enter to open a new interactive console, I get a dialog asking me what type of console I'd like to start ("Console for currently active editor", consoles for Python, Jython, Iron Python etc.). Now this selection dialog has no default entry and keyboard selection doesn't work, meaning that I have to use my mouse every time I need a new console, which is kind of tedious. I've checked Preferences - PyPev - Interactive Console, but found no interesting options there. Is there any possibility to define a default interactive console type so that I just have to hit Return when the dialog pops up or, even better, skip this question altogether?

    Hey guys, i've got 2 GeoPoints given to show them on the map with markers... so far so good... how can I get the optimum zoom level for the MapController in order to focus the middle of both points, but also have them on the map.     I noticed some weird things in the db table of mysql database in a client's server, after having the Mysql service stopping for no reason what are the test, and test_% entries? Why are there two entries for the database AQUA? Why is there a entry with a blank name? Should I worry about any of those? What should I do for each specific case? Is it safe to just delete the ones that should not be there, after backing up?

  • Ubuntu 12.04: Unable to add or delete a user named 'mysql'

    I am trying to install MySql on Ubuntu 12.04 but the installation is failing with the error: "Can't change to run as user 'mysql'. Check if the user 'mysql' exits." So I go ahead type in the command : 'cat /etc/passwd | grep mysql' and result is null. I try to add a user 'mysql' by issuing the command 'useradd mysql'/. But it fails with the message: 'useradd: user 'mysql' already exists'. When I try to delete the user 'mysql' using the command 'userdel mysql' it also fails with the message "userdel: cannot remove entry 'mysql' from /etc/passwd." Can anyone explain me what's going on and suggest a solution.

  • Invalid user names when creating a LDAP account

    I'm trying to set up a system where a visitor can enter any user name in a form to create a new user and in the end it gets built on LDAP directory and I'm planning that to be mapped as a UNIX account as well (on Ubuntu Linux) by making the system look up for system accounts on the LDAP. Doing so is fine, but I feel that many user names should be avoided, one of the obvious being 'root' and all the other user names taken for daemons etc. How do you tackle at this problem? Do you make up a list of disallowed user names by checking /etc/passwd? I was thinking that if, internally, the user names could be prepended as 'ldap_' or something, it will avoid any naming conflicts but that seems hard when the LDAP entry name is 'joe' but the system account will look like 'ldap_joe'. Not even sure how that can be achieved.

These 3 include: num_comments, num_views, last_view. How do I add these attributes? How do I then sort the records, in order of precendence, by num_comments AND by num_views AND by last_view?

  • C++ Optimize if/else condition

    I have a single line of code, that consumes 25% - 30% of the runtime of my application. It is a less-than comparator for an std::set (the set is implemented with a Red-Black-Tree). It is called about 180 Million times within 52 seconds. struct Entry { const float _cost; const long _id; // some other vars Entry(float cost, float id) : _cost(cost), _id(id) { } }; template<class T> struct lt_entry: public binary_function <T, T, bool> { bool operator()(const T &l, const T &r) const { // Most readable shape if(l._cost != r._cost) { return r._cost < l._cost; } else { return l._id < r._id; } } }; The entries should be sorted by cost and if the cost is the same by their id. I have many insertions for each extraction of the minimum. I thought about using Fibonacci-Heaps, but I have been told that they are theoretically nice, but suffer from high constants and are pretty complicated to implement. And since insert is in O(log(n)) the runtime increase is nearly constant with large n. So I think its okay to stick to the set. To improve performance I tried to express it in different shapes: return l._cost < r._cost || r._cost > l._cost || l._id < r._id; return l._cost < r._cost || (l._cost == r._cost && l._id < r._id); Even this: typedef union { float _f; int _i; } flint; //... flint diff; diff._f = (l._cost - r._cost); return (diff._i && diff._i >> 31) || l._id < r._id; But the compiler seems to be smart enough already, because I haven't been able to improve the runtime. I also thought about SSE but this problem is really not very applicable for SSE... I thought it would be the best (only?) point to squeeze out some performance, but is it really worth the effort? Can you see any shortcuts that could save some cycles? The platform the code will run on is an ubuntu 12 with gcc 4.6 (-stl=c++0x) on a many-core intel machine. Only libraries available are boost, openmp and tbb. I am really stuck on this one, it seems so simple, but takes that much time. I have been crunching my head since days thinking how I could improve this line... Can you give me a suggestion how to improve this part, or is it already at its best?
