• Using Exim and Google Apps email as smarthost

  I have a server setup to use exim4 and google apps as my smarthost. But I get errors when the to address is not the one I use to authenticate to google and it seems to drop all return addresses that are not the one it uses to authenitcate. Example: On the contact form of my server a user sets user@company1.com as their return address and uses the form to send a message. I get an email sent to the admin's address admin@myCompany.com but the return address is also now admin@myCompany.com I have no idea of the return address the user set on the form. I get around this by putting a bad email address in the form's default so Exim4 sends an error message to admin@myCompany.com with the user's email in the debug info. Clearly I either have it set up wrong or do not understand how smarthosts work (probably both).

• How can I rewrite / redirect URL's in Glassfish V3?

  I'd like to simplify the URL's to access a Glassfish V3 application by removing file extensions and otherwise shortening URL's. I've already set my application as the default application, so that there is no need to include the context root in the URL. I'd like to: * Remove file extensions * Shorten the URL to files deep in the folder structure I'd like to do this using pattern matching rather than on a per file basis (Site is small at the moment but will change frequently and grow). Some examples of what I'd like to do: * foo.com/bar.html - foo.com/bar * foo.com/folder1/folder2/bar2.html - foo.com/bar2 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cheers, Jin

  I have a QA setup that consists of multiple internal development servers and one world-accessible provisioning machine that is setup to proxy pass the web traffic. Everything works fine for non-SSL requests, but I'm having a hard time getting the SSL logic working as well.   I have a courier IMAP server running on a private server at dreamhost. The private server's hostname is psxxxx.dreamhostps.com. I also have CNAME for the private server, call it mydomain.com. I want to send email to user@mydomain.com and have it delivered to [email protected].com. Right now the Courer server on the private server is bouncing the mail. On other mail servers there is a file into which you put all of the names that the host responds to. The names are all synonyms for the host's name, so user@ are equivillent. How do I configure Courer to treat multiple hostnames as synonyms for its host name? Thank you.

  I have a VPS based on Ubuntu, it has installed whole LAMP, everything needed for a web server and it works perfectly, but I'm still not able to configure it as a mail server.... I have configured MX record for my domain mail.mydomain.com and this part is OK, I also installed Postfix, Dovecot and Roundcube, configured it using this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup And after hours of configuring it doesn't work. I have experience with Linux and web hosting, but I successfully configured mail server once in past on Debian 6, and that with help from there. When I try to send email to me my gmail says: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain mydomain.com by dc147738a1117e4c12273.mydomain.com. [MY_SERVER_IP]. The error that the other server returned was: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied Also I have Webmin control panel which works perfectly, how to configure postfix and dovecot from there?   Stick with me on this one, I couldn't think of a correct way to ask the question! I have a domain registered, but it isn't attached to a hosting package or e-mail account. I will do soon, but not at the moment. Right now, I would like to set up an e-mail forwarding scenario. So, I could have the email me@mydomain.com forward to my@gmail.com. I know this much is possible. What I would like to do, is using the gmail account is to keep the forwarded e-mail address when replying. So when I reply to emails sent to gmail through my e-mail forwarding, I would like any reply to say it came from me@mydomain.com instead of my@gmail.com. Is this possible? If so how would I go about it?

  Hello, I have a new WordPress website and a legacy billing system. For technical reasons, they cannot be on the same hosting plan. The hosting account for billing (and the original abc.com website) also manages DNS and mail. I'm trying to incorporate the new website under the same domain, eg. abc.com (website, on a different hosting account) and billing.abc.com (billing). I assume the answer is having a different A record for abc.com. I currently have a CPanel shared hosting account to use for the website (but can upgrade if necessary). How would I set this up in CPanel, so that the URLs work properly? Do I need a dedicated IP and then add the domain as an add-on domain? Thanks

  Currently I'm hosting my own (ubuntu) server with the following services: samba, ftp and a webserver. I've bought a domain and linked the DNS A-record to my ISP's IP. This is working correctly. Now I'd like to use the DNS wildcard-record to create subdomains. I want to avoid waiting 24hrs before the DNS change completes. Thusfar I'm only able to redirect all incoming wildcards to the same directory: test1.domain.com redirects to /var/www test2.domain.com redirects to /var/www Although I'd like to get: test1.domain.com redirects to /var/www/test1 test2.domain.com redirects to /var/www/test2 My guess would be to change the file /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain. • .htaccess redirect for www in parent folder and children react

  We were having a problem with the Norton seal not showing up on our affiliate marketing landing pages (landers). Turns out, the Norton seal was super picky about the "www." prefix. I had folder paths like /lp/cmpx where x was a number 1-100 and indicated advertising campaign number. So, to remedy this, I stuck this in my .htaccess file right after the RewriteEngine On line: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/lp/cmp1/$1 [R=302,QSA,NC,L] Trouble is, I had to do that under every campaign folder, changing cmp1 to whatever the folder name was. Therefore, my question is... Is there a way I can do this with an .htaccess file under the parent folder (/lp in this case) and it will work for each of the children? EDIT: Note that I stuck an .htaccess file in /lp just now to test: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/lp/$1 [R=302,QSA,NC,L] This yielded no effect to the /lp/cmpx folders underneath, to my dismay.

I want to give each of my clients a personalized URL to access my web site. I have mySite.com and I would like to allow client A to acess the site via A.mySite.com and client B to use B.mySite.com. These would all point the the mySite.com domain with the same ip address. Can this be done in IIS? Do I have to register new domains for each client? Are there other ways to accomplish the same thing?

  How do I properly configure a server with nginx to front for a Zimbra server with multiple domains? I run a small SOHO network. I NAT/port forwarding on my Comcast router to get traffic to my handful of servers. I setup a server with Zimbra, call it host1.internal.local. The server currently has two domains, call them domain1.com and domain2.com. Both offer webmail access at webmail.domain1.com and webmail.domain2.com. I have a separate server with nginx. I want to configure nginx to reverse proxy, such that I can direct all HTTP/HTTPS, and send webmail traffic via matched host address/headers to the Zimbra server. If possible, I'd like to know how to map IMAP, POP and SMTP traffic too. How would I do this?

• ASA Slow IPSec Performance with Inconsistent Window Size

  I have a IPSec link between two sites over ASA 5520s running 8.4(3) and I am getting extremely poor performance when traffic passes over the IPSec VPN. CPU on the devices is ~13%, Memory at 408 MB, and active VPN sessions 2. The load on both of the the devices is particularly low. Latency between the two sites is ~40ms. When performing at 55+MBPS, the window size is consistently 65,535. Does this show a problem in my configuration of the IPSec VPN in the ASA or a Layer1/2 issue? Using ping xxxxxx -f -l I finally get a non-fragment at 1418 bytes so 1418+28 for IP/ICMP headers = 1446. I know that I have 1500 set on the ASA and Ethernet. I do have "Force Maximum segment size for TCP proxy connection to be" "1380" bytes set under Configuration Advanced TCP Options on the ASA. • Batch OCR for many PDF files (not already OCRed) ?

  Hello, I use Google Desktop Search (I am on Vista) and not all my PDF files are recognized in my archive folder. It is normal as "PDF files that contain scanned images" are not indexed (http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=90651) So I would like to OCR many of my PDF files that are not already OCRed. My goal : I give the program a folder and it search alone in the subfolders the PDF files that need to be converted into PDF-OCRed files. Note: In the past, if a PDF file was password protected, I removed the password with another batch (paying) tool: verypdf.com "pwdremover" Any (not too much expensive) idea ? I already tried : Finereader 6 pro on xp at the time, but there was no batch processor included... Paperfile paperfile.net which uses Tesseract code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/. But the OCR is only PDF to text, not PDF to PDF! There is also another project code.google.com/p/ocropus Thanks in advance ;)

• Multi-IP address zimbra server DNS PTR records and spam

  We have a mail server running Zimbra (ZCS 6.0.8). The server has 5 active public IP addresses in the same subnet. (.226-.230). I currently have A records for each of these (host0.domain.com..host4.domain.com), with the main host.domain.com of the machine pointing to .226. Our host has ended up being listed on the SORBS DUHL list (even though it's in a server farm). According to them you can get removed quickly by checking that your host has an MX record, an A record, and a PTR record that points back to the hostname given in the MX record. I tried setting the PTR records so that each of these addresses resolved back to their A record (i.e. .228 had a PTR to host2.domain.com). However, I then got mail being rejected from other servers because when Postfix (under Zimbra control) sends out mail, it uses the main hostname for the HELO - there doesn't seem to be any way to override it. So the PTR records currently say host.domain.com for all 5 IP addresses. What's the correct way to handle this? Should I have an A record for the domain that points to all the IP addresses (for round-robin handling)? I'm nervous of changes that could cause problems, so I'm wondering what the standard way to handle a multiple-IP-address mail server is.

What am i missing ?

• Cannot access domain from windows 2003 client

  Hey all, First off I am a novice at AD and DNS so please bear with me. This is my current situation: I have one server which is a DC and DNS server (win2k3) - Machine 1. I have another machine which is trying to join this domain - Machine2. This machine is also a win2k3 server. This is what I have done so far: I have setup DNS on the DC and its tcp/ip dns is pointing to itself. On machine2 I have set its dns to point to the dc. The DNS has been setup with a forward lookup zone with the same name as the domain (accdirect.com). I can ping machine1 from the machine2 by its FQDN and ip. I have set up forwarders on the DC for our ISP dns and can browse the internet on both machines. In the DNS mmc on the DC I can see a host (A) has been created for machine2. The problem is I still cannot join the domain. When I try join the domain via my computer - properties then it brings up the username/password box and after I go "ok" it says cannot find domain accdirect.com If I run this from machine2 dcdiag /s:accdirect.com /u:accdirect.com\admin /p: then I get the following: Performing initial setup: ** Warning: could not confirm the identity of this server in the directory versus the names returned by DNS servers. If there are problems accessing this directory server then you may need to check that this server is correctly registered with DNS [accdirect.com] Directory Binding Error 1722: Win32 Error 1722 This may limit some of the tests that can be performed. Done gathering initial info. On the dc all dcdiag and netdiag results pass. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate this! Basic workflow of events: Customer sends email to john@acme-example.com from benny@customer-example.com ACME administrator receives notification and can moderate email After moderation administrator confirm an email and send it to john@acme-example.com John answears to benny@customer-example.com Before the email is send it is moderated again by ACME administrator What is important, that this functionality is easy to do with some CMS/CMF systems.   I am running Sendmail 8.14.4 on Slackware 13.37. Update: Apparently my access file was not working regardless. Removing the comments at the end of the line seems to have fixed the problem.
