• Is there a solution for SugarCRM that can map roles or privileges to Active Directory groups?

  We're presenting SugarCRM as an option to one of our clients, but they want to drive permissions within Sugar by users' AD groups. Current LDAP integration with SugarCRM only does password management. Does anybody know of a plug-in that supports this? I've searched and have not been able to find anything. Has anybody change the LDAP module code within Sugar to accommodate these features? I'd be interested in chatting with you. I apologize if this isn't on the correct site; neither serverfault nor stackoverflow seemed like the correct place. Perhaps webapps? Thanks!

  Hi I have developed a game on android.Now I want to play it on wifi or 3G. I have game packets which i want to send it form client(mobile) to server then to another client2(mobile). I don't know how to write code in Java to send the playPackets continuously to server and receive the playPacket continuously from the server to the clients.   Just read this in the REST API Rulebook: GET and POST must not be used to tunnel other request methods. Tunneling refers to any abuse of HTTP that masks or misrepresents a message’s intent and undermines the protocol’s transparency. A REST API must not compromise its design by misusing HTTP’s request methods in an effort to accommodate clients with limited HTTP vocabulary. Always make proper use of the HTTP methods as specified by the rules in this section. [highlights by me] But then a lot of frameworks use tunneling to expose REST interfaces via HTML forms, since <form> knows only about GET and POST.   Hello everyone, the organization I work at wants to create a custom Ubuntu LiveCD, the customizations are: Pre-installed programs, plugins, some device drivers, and aesthetics such as icons and backgrounds, as well as changing Firefox's homepage and removing unneeded packages. Not big changes, obviously, and we wish to distribute this custom image for clients to use as a bootable CD or USB stick in order to have a quick environment where all our tools are available instantly. What are the licensing and legal consequences of this? What if some of the programs or plugins that are to be pre-packaged are not GPL'd? I should finally note that we are not changing any code in the kernel or any other distro component. Thank you for your time!

• Inserting multiple links to one image in Confluence

  I am setting up a Wiki in Confluence v3.5.1 I have added a visio diagram (JPG) to a page (this diagram will take up most of the page) - This diagram depicts the workflow between developers and support and clients. I envisage users being able to click on different parts of the diagram and it to open up child pages with more details about that particular process (with videos on 'how-to' do that specific task, like log issues in Jira) However, from what I can see, there is no way from the Confluence editor to add multiple links to the one image, right? I looked at Anchors, but this does not look like it will do the job. So, what is the best option? I remember Dreamweaver having these sorts of tools built in, and there appears to be other utilities that can help put in image map HTML tags, but I cannot see a way of easily editing the HTML in Confluence editor. Also worried about the headache this could cause with managing future changes of the page.

• Versioning Strategy for Service Interfaces JAR

  I'm building a service oriented architecture composed (mostly) of Java-based services, each of which is a Maven project (in an individual repository) with two submodules: common, and server. The common module contains the service's interfaces that clients can include in their project to make service calls. The server submodule contains the code that actually powers the service. I'm now trying to figure out an appropriate versioning strategy for the interfaces, such that each interface change results in a new common jar, but changes to the server (so long as they don't impact the contract of the interfaces) receive the same common jar. I know this is pretty simple to do manually (simply increment the server version and don't touch the common one), but this project will be built and deployed by a CI server, and I'd like to come up with a strategy for automatically versioning these. The only thing I have been able to come up with so far is to have the CI server md5 the service interfaces.

• U1 music mp3 files not put into albums

  Via the web page I can see that my files sync to U1 cloud servers. For the mp3 files, there seems to be a problem that several questions have already addressed but there does not seem to be a clear answer. If I use EasyTAG 2.1.6, I can see the ID3 tags on the local files and they seem to correctly define the artist, album title and track name. I expect it is not relevant, but I am using 10.04 with several different clients to rip the CDs. However, some mp3 files do not appear in the cloud at all and some others get assigned to Various Artist or Unknown artist. Does the music streaming (e.g. via Ipad) use the tags or the directory/file structure to assign the artist or album, and how quickly should it be expected to work? :-) Which version of ID3 tags does U1 music streaming work best with or prefer? thanks for any help David

• C++ Library API Design

  I'm looking for a good resource for learning about good API design for C++ libraries, looking at shared objects/dlls etc. There are many resources on writing nice APIs, nice classes, templates and so on at source level, but barely anything about putting things together in shared libs and executables. Books like Large-Scale C++ Software Design by John Lakos are interesting but massively outdated. What I'm looking for is advice i.e. on handling templates. With templates in my API I often end up with library code in my executable (or other library) so if I fix a bug in there I can't simply roll out the new library but have to recompile and redistribute all clients of that code. (and yes, I know some solutions like trying to instantiate at least the most common versions inside the library etc.) I'm also looking for other caveats and things to mind for keeping binary compatibility while working on C++ libraries. Is there a good website or book on such things?

• WCF service and security

  Been building a WP7 app and now I need it to communicate to a WCF service I made to make changes to an SQL database. I am a little concerned about security as the user name and password for accessing the SQL database is in the App.Config. I have read in places that you can encrypt the user name and password in the config file. As the username and password is never exposed to the clients connected to the WCF service, would security in my situation be much of a problem? Just in case anyone suggests a method of security, I do not have SSL on my web server.

I have written the javascript code for that but I do not have a high hit rate website to put it on to collect data.   I want to start a bit of freelancing in web development using ASP.NET MVC3 and PHP and I already have some people who are interested in hiring me, but I still can't figure out how much to charge for projects since I have never done it. For example how much would this site cost? Would it cost more if the author built it from scratch instead of using WordPress as the CMS? Or what about a simpler site like this? How much time spent is considered good/normal for building sites like these? And maybe some freelancers with experience can tell me what the usual requests are that they get from clients. What sites are the most in demand? I'm asking because I'm a student and I really can't work every day in a full-time job but I need the money so I guess a little freelancing would help me out.

• Using branchs for a mini project or module of project: Good practice?

  In my repo I have 3 closely related mini projects: 1 server and 2 clients. They are all quite small (<3 files each). Since they are so small and so closely related I just dropped them in folders in one single repo. However now that I know I can't clone a single directory in my VCS of choice (Mercurial), I'm considering splitting them up. However I'm confused about general best practice: Is it okay to put different small projects in different branches, or should they all go in different repos? I'm currently leaning towards branching since I can't easily splice out the file history of the different projects but then your using a feature in a way it wasn't meant to be used.

  Spent the weekend helping out several non-profits doing what we like to do best...  Designing, developing and making people very happy with their new websites, systems, applications and features.  Form what I saw at this GiveCamp about 75 percent of the non-profits needed updated or new websites supporting CMS features and the ability for staff members to update the content on their websites.... Some cool apps were designed and developed..... A centralized system for distribution of daily schedules and task assistance to autistic clients was a show stopper with an awesome central management interface, IPhone and in the future windows phone support for tactile, auditory and visual cues. SharePoint was upgraded and forms were automated for a volunteer fire company that desperately needed some automation to help the fireman do their primary job. Many cool sites for non-profits that had ether an outdated or non existent web presence.

  what i want to do: offer my clients the possibility to display their store as a small graphic (like google maps). just a small png with the location of the store. only the specific client is able to see this images and he pays for this area (not only for that :) ). So i'm looking for a api or whatever else to geocode(?) the adress and render a small (280*160px) image. google offers a premium licence (not cheap) ms bing openstreetmap - i'm not able to understand the 10^10 licences ;( any ideas?

  This question already has an answer here: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? 5 answers I have a test website that's hosted on a free plan by Zymic. At the moment I'm typing, it and my site is down. I don't want to let my clients down in the future. It's been down for over 2 days. I thought it was a coding problem at first, and then found out I couldn't connect to my server. Zymic had very good reviews, and its downtime was OK (not high or low), but now I want to change my web host. What should I look for (besides downtime guarantee)? Also, do you have any suggestions that with all the benefits? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

• How to opendns with dynamic ip

  OpenDNS is almost completely useless with a dynamic ip and most people have dynamic ip addresses. There isn't even a decent client for Linux to update your IP. There is a script you can install but it only seems to update on startup and all my child needs to do is unplug and replug the cable from the wall or router and a new ip is created totally killing the opendns service . I'm not even sure the Mac or windows ip update clients can protect from such a simple maneuver . How can I get my ip address to constantly update with opendns, is my question.

There are many questions here asking how to identify components of what is essentially a professional programmer - how do you identify or communicate expertise, specialization, high quality work, excellent skills in relation to the profession. I am specifically looking for methods to communicate a specific component, and I quote from wikipedia: A high standard of professional ethics, behavior and work activities while carrying out one's profession (as an employee, self-employed person, career, enterprise, business, company, or partnership/associate/colleague, etc.). The professional owes a higher duty to a client, often a privilege of confidentiality, as well as a duty not to abandon the client just because he or she may not be able to pay or remunerate the professional. Often the professional is required to put the interest of the client ahead of his own interests. How can I most efficiently communicate my professionalism, in the spirit of the quote above, to current and potential clients and employers?
