  • Best place to check user authenticity in a back end module where all pages are only available to mem

    I've a backend module which could only be accessed by only authorized members. So I need to check authenticity for all actions and for all controllers. Currently I'm doing it inside preDispatch() functions inside controller classes. So it takes care of all the actions inside that controller. But still I've to do it for all controllers. Is there a place I could check it for all the controllers as well. So basically I want one place authenticity check for whole backend module. Can I do it in bootstrap?

  • Is Work Stealing always the most appropriate user-level thread scheduling algorithm?

    I've been investigating different scheduling algorithms for a thread pool I am implementing. Due to the nature of the problem I am solving I can assume that the tasks being run in parallel are independent and do not spawn any new tasks. The tasks can be of varying sizes. I went immediately for the most popular scheduling algorithm "work stealing" using lock-free deques for the local job queues, and I am relatively happy with this approach. However I'm wondering whether there are any common cases where work-stealing is not the best approach. For this particular problem I have a good estimate of the size of each individual task. Work-stealing does not make use of this information and I'm wondering if there is any scheduler which will give better load-balancing than work-stealing with this information (obviously with the same efficiency). NB. This question ties up with a previous question.

    Hi I'm trying to give my users the functionality to change what the background image used on a page is. The list of background images will be a small number that won't really change. I thought I could add a few Taxonomy terms...one for each background type...then apply a class to the body tag when the page is viewed. What's the postgresql way to do this?

  • Django: Geocoding an address on form submission?

    Trying to wrap my head around django forms and the django way of doing things. I want to create a basic web form that allows a user to input an address and have that address geocoded and saved to a database. I created a Location model: class Location(models.Model): address = models.CharField(max_length=200) city = models.CharField(max_length=100) state = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) postal_code = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) country = models.CharField(max_length=100) latitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) longitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) And defined a form: class LocationForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = models.Location exclude = ('latitude','longitude') In my view I'm using form.save() to save the form. This works and saves an address to the database. I created a module to geocode an address. I'm not sure what the django way of doing things is, but I guess in my view, before I save the form, I need to geocode the address and set the lat and long. How do I set the latitude and longitude before saving?

    I have an ObservableCollection of items of my class "PlaylistItem" that implements INotifyPropertyChanged. The collection is databound to a ListBox and everything else is working. I want to know what markup to use to trigger a style change of the wrapping ListBoxItem based on a property (e.g. "Playing", bool) of the PlaylistItem. How to I use FindAncestor to trigger the change? I can to this in code, but I know I that I can (somehow) do it in markup. Thanks in advance.

However when I try to create a song I get the following error:No action responded to 1.     If I have a script that is to be executed by the nobody user, why is there a need to assign group write and execute permissions. For example in the article at http://www.zzee.com/solutions/unix-permissions.shtml, it notes that the permission 755 should be assigned to scripts on a web server. I understand that the user nobody is treated as others and as the owner of the script I would like full permissions. Am I missing something?

After vim close console just halts. No activity on any keypress. The only workaround is to close console tab and create a new one. How can I solve this problem?
