  • ASP.NET How can I write a message on the screen without the end user removing it?

    I have written a ASP.NET program for a customer, I want to add a message similar to "Preview version, ABD Consulting" on the master.master page, I had thought to use Response.write but it messes up the look of the page as it seems to move page elemets. If I use a label the customer can remove it from the Master.master file, any suggestions? The customer is in a different country so I want to ensure I'm paid. Many thanks

  • Calling IPrincipal.IsInRole on Windows 7

    We use NTLM auth in our application to determine whether a user can perform certain operations. We use the IPrincipal of their current Windows login (in WinForms applications), calling IsInRole to check for specific group memberships. To check that a user is a local administrator on the machine, we use: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy(PrincipalPolicy.WindowsPrincipal); ... bool allowed = Thread.CurrentPrincipal.IsInRole(@"Builtin\Administrators") This works if the current user is the Administrator user, or is another user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group. In our testing on Windows 7, we have found that this no longer works as expected. The Administrator user still works fine, but any other user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group returns false for the IsInRole call. What could be causing this difference? I have a gut feeling that a default setting has changed somewhere (possible in gpedit), but cannot find anything that looks like the culprit.

    Hay I've got a question about relationships. I want to Users to have Friendships. So a User can be a friend with another User. I'm assuming i'll need to use the ManyToManyField, through a Friendship table. But i cannot get it to work. Any ideas?   • How to pass a random User/Pass (for Basic Authentication) with JMeter?

    Hi folks, I'm using JMeter to stress test an API. I've got Basic Authentication set up - seems to be working great. Now, i'm trying to randomize the credentials that JMeter passes across the wire. So, there's two ways I know I can do this. Add a custom HTTP Header (via an HTTP Header Manager Element) and set then value to the random fields (ie. something I've read in from a csv file) Use the HTTP Authorization Manager Element and pass in the username and password there. Now, if I try and use method (1) above, I need to create the following header/data :- Authorization: Basic <some Base64 encoded string in the format username:password> eg. Authorization: Basic OnVzZXIxOnBhc3Mx Kewl. simple. BUT that header value is not getting passed across the wire :( I can add any other header type and it's passed across the wire.. hmm .. ok then .. lets try method (2). Now that works .. but I can only hardcode in the username & password. I can't see how I can pass in a username VARIABLE (ie. ${usernmae} ) or a password VARIABLE (ie. ${password} ).... If it's hardcoded, then the server correctly replies with the correct page/data. so .. can someone please help?

I think the System.getProperty("user.name") won't be secure enough? ("user.name" seems to be got from environment variables, so I can't rely on that, I think?) Question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/390150/authenticating-against-active-directory-with-java-on-linux provides me the authentication for given name+pass but I'd like to authenticate based on the Windows logon? For the Active Directory access, the LDAP would probably be the choise? I'm not totally sure if I'm asking the right questions but hopefully somebody has some ideas to forward me on.

  • Android emulator performance on linux

    I installed the android SDK and eclipse plugin on my laptop, but I was surprised to find out that the emulator eats up 100% of one of my cpu cores. I have exactly the same setup on a desktop machine that does not have this issue. Both computers are running arch linux and both were updated yesterday. Granted, the desktop has better hardware than the laptop, but I was expecting to get closer to 50% cpu usage than 100% on the laptop. Both android virtual devices have the same specs: CPU: ARM Target: Android 2.3.3 - API Level 10 Skin: WVGA800 SD Card: 512M hw.lcd.density: 240 vm.heapSize: 24 hw.ramSize: 256 Laptop host has Intel Core 2 T7200 @ 2GHz cpu with 2Gb RAM. Desktop host has AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3GHz cpu with 8Gb RAM. [UPDATE] I ran the emulator with the same settings, on the same laptop under Win7 and after starting up, it didn't use 100% of a CPU core unlike under linux. Also, I tried running the emulator from a terminal in Linux and I get this message when I don't get it under the desktop Linux host: Could not configure '/dev/hpet' to have a 1024Hz timer. This is not a fatal error, but for better emulation accuracy type: 'echo 1024 /proc/sys/dev/hpet/max-user-freq' as root. I'm not really familiar with rtc or hpet, but it doesn't seem that max-user-freq setting does anything, I still get the same warning.

    I've been trying to make a script that will a file name and change only one word in it. An example would be: projectname.vcproj.domainname.username.user to projectname.vcproj.otherdomainname.username.user I've tried using the if loop to list the directory and set the delimiter to a period but it doesn't seem to be able to identify and change it. I'm using examples of renaming .txt files but it doesn't seem to work, any suggestions?

    Hello All, My application currently relies on JDBC realm authentication. Recent needs have forced us to think about having LDAP authentication as well. We are thinking about using Active Directory for both authentication as well as authorization (roles). As a standalone test, I was able to authenticate my application with AD. But here is the confusion I have going forward. If the user chooses LDAP authentication when he logs in, I authenticate the user with AD, get the user's roles and do I replicate(create a new) windows user in my database?. I have to have the user in the database, because many parts of the application is designed to retrieve the user from database If the users chooses local login, I still should have JDBCRealm somewhere that I should use to authenticate the user. Is it possible to have multiple realms in tomcat? (I sort of know it is possible, but havent seen much documentation around it) Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would immensely help me Thanks K

  • How to set up a user Quartz2D coordinate system with scaling that avoids fuzzy drawing?

    This topic has been scratched once or twice, but I am still puzzled. And Google was not friendly either. Since Quartz allows for arbitrary coordinate systems using affine transform, I want to be able to draw things such as floorplans using real-life coordinate, e.g. feet. So basically, for the sake of an example, I want to scale the view so that when I draw a 10x10 rectangle (think a 1-inch box for example), I get a 60x60 pixels rectangle. It works, except the rectangle I get is quite fuzzy. Another question here got an answer that explains why. However, I'm not sure I understood that reason why, and moreover, I don't know how to fix it. Here is my code: I set my coordinate system in my awakeFromNib custom view method: - (void) awakeFromNib { CGAffineTransform scale = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(6.0, 6.0); self.transform = scale; } And here is my draw routine: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGRect r = CGRectMake(10., 10., 11., 11.); CGFloat lineWidth = 1.0; CGContextStrokeRectWithWidth(context, r, lineWidth); } The square I get is scaled just fine, but totally fuzzy. Playing with lineWidth doesn't help: when lineWidth is set smaller, it gets lighter, but not crisper. So is there a way to set up a view to have a scaled coordinate system, so that I can use my domain coordinates? Or should I go back and implementing scaling in my drawing routines? Note that this issue doesn't occur for translation or rotation. Thanks

If a user logs and then lock his session, the screensaver will start eventually but if no user are logged the login screen will never start the screensaver.     Hi all. Imagine a simple model. class Service belongs_to :user validates_associated :user accepts_nested_attributes_for :user end Nothing special right? The validations on the associated User model trigger correctly in development mode. But don't do anything in production. I've added a validates_on_presence :user just like the docs say. This triggers when there's no User associated with the Service, but fill in one thing on the User model and nothing happens! It's driving me up the walls. Am I overlooking something? More info about the MVC: I use formtastic for the forms. Thanks!

    Hello, I wrote a c# code that creates new local user DirectoryEntry localMachine = new DirectoryEntry("WinNT://" + Environment.MachineName + ",computer"); DirectoryEntry group = localMachine.Children.Find("administrators", "group"); DirectoryEntry user = localMachine.Children.Find(accountName, "user"); Console.WriteLine(user.Properties.ToString()); I tried to set the logon script for that user by doing: localMachine.Properties["scriptPath"].Insert(0, "logonScript.vbs"); localMachine.CommitChanges(); same with group or user instances.but the property doesn't exist in any of theses instances (localMachine, group or user).     I am trying to setup per-user fastcgi scripts that will run each on a different port and with a different user. Here is example of my script: #!/bin/bash BIND=127.0.0.1:9001 USER=user PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=2 PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS=10000 etc... However, if I add user with /bin/false (which I want, since this is about to be something like shared hosting and I don't want users to have shell access), the script is run under 1001, 1002 'user' which, as my Google searches showed, might be a security hole. My question is: Is it possible to allow user(s) to execute shell scripts but disable them so they cannot log in via SSH?

I am running Samba 3.0.23d on FreeBSD is release 7.1 I changed the policies as described above but still cannot connect to the samba server with the windows 7 or a server 2008. I feel it is a problem with recognizing the new machines on the network. the windows machines can see the samba server, but cannot connect to it or view any of the files. After changing the security policies the samba server asked for network id and password but would not allow the machine to connect, said they were unknown username or bad password.
