  • Can't boot to Ubuntu 11.10 after installation with Windows 7

    - by Tylor
    I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on a machine with Windows 7 already installed. I want to setup the dualboot environment. I have a block of unallocated disk space at the end of the disk (some blog post suggested to do so). Then I started installing Ubuntu 11.10 on that part of disk. I installed the boot loader to /boot partition and the installation finished successfully. However, after installation, Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't show up on boot menu. Then I searched on Internet and I used EasyBCD to add a grub2 boot to boot menu. After this, the boot entry does show up in the boot menu, however it only boot into some sort of grub console. I tried many times, and it doesn't work. It looks like the boot loader is not properly installed? I only have one 1.5TB disk and the first 800GB is NTFS partition with Windows 7. Does this work?

  • How can I fix the screen blurred while installing Ubuntu 12.10 Bate1

    - by Marslo
    I installed Ubuntu 12.10 Bate1 yesterday, but the screen blurred always shows after selecting Install Ubuntu on a Hard Disk option and before waiting for the installation interface. Click here to check the screenshot. The method of installation is by U-disk, the name of Ubuntu 12.10 is quantal-desktop-i386.iso (the download link is from Universal-USB-Installer), and Universal-USB-Installer was used to write the Ubuntu 12.10 into U-disk. PS. Ubuntu 12.04 could be installed successful on my computer!

  • No Windows Option on Boot

    - by Okoning
    I've installed Ubuntu alongside Windows but at first didn't have a boot option menu. So, I installed bootrepair and ran it. This succeeded in granting me a GRUB boot option menu, but Windows isn't on it. Here is the bootrepair report: http://paste.ubuntu.com/8098527 Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? EDIT: I ran sudo fdisk -l and this is the output: Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders, total 976773168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00023fe0 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 960096255 480047104 83 Linux /dev/sda2 960098302 976771071 8336385 5 Extended /dev/sda5 960098304 976771071 8336384 82 Linux swap / Solaris Disk /dev/sdb: 32.0 GB, 32015679488 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3892 cylinders, total 62530624 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 32 62530623 31265296 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)

  • Set one background to stretch across multi-monitor display?

    - by John Isaacks
    I have two monitors and my coworker has three. We were wondering if there was a way to set a single background image to stretch across all the monitors. Right now it's the same image but repeated, so it looks like the same image three times in a row. I would like it to be so that the three images/screens combine to show one image if that makes sense. If I can't set one image to stretch across the screens like that, is there a way to set a different background for each screen? Edit: I just wanted to clarify: I am not talking about one image stretching from his monitors to mine, just stretching across our own monitors.

  • Grub not loading after Windows 8 Install

    - by RazorXsr
    My system was configured to dual boot Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and Windows 7. Today I got my hands on the MSDN release of Windows 8 and I installed it over my Windows 7. Now the computer just boots to Windows 8 directly without loading the GRUB screen. So I followed the steps as suggested in: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoveringUbuntuAfterInstallingWindows. Running this command: ls -l /dev/disk/by-label/ gives the following output: total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Sep 11 07:51 Entertainment -> ../../sda2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Sep 11 02:45 PENDRIVE -> ../../sdb1 Also fdisk -l command gives this as the output: Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x1246aa23 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 319582199 159790076 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda2 319582208 602906623 141662208 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda3 602908672 625135615 11113472 83 Linux Disk /dev/sdb: 1939 MB, 1939865600 bytes 64 heads, 63 sectors/track, 939 cylinders, total 3788800 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0xc3072e18 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 2248 3788799 1893276 c W95 FAT32 (LBA) So I assume that I have to run this: sudo grub-install /dev/sda3 to get GRUB up and running. But I am getting this error: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for /boot/grub (is /dev mounted?). Can anyone please guide me in the right direction? The current Ubuntu installation is far too customized to my needs to lose it to a boot manager issue! Any help is much appreciated!

  • Can't install Ubuntu 11.10 on a seperate disk partition. I have a log file. Please help!

    - by les02jen17
    Before I installed Ubuntu, I resized my C: drive (which has my Windows 7 OS). Prior to resizing, I even defragged the said drive. I tried using Wubi to install it on the created partition, but I receive an error. I have the log file and I would post it but it's too long and the site won't let me. :(So anyway, I wasn't able to install it, so I uninstalled it. Upon uninstalling Wubi and Ubuntu, I tried installing it by having the CD to my CD ROM. The installation was a success, however, upon rebooting I can neither boot to Ubuntu OR Windows 7. I get stuck in an infinite bootloop. I hope you can help me out! :(

  • Stop Windows boot

    - by Parley Applegate
    Installed Ubuntu over a Windows8 trial. After installation, Windows8 still tries to boot. Wiped disk clean with Acronis and reinstall Ubuntu. Windows8 still tries to start, but goes to blank screen. Ubuntu never tries to boot. Naturally live mode works fine. What do you think of wiping disk again, install Windows7 and try using GRUB approach or do you know how to remove Windows from the cleaned disk?

  • Problem with saving pictures in certain ways [migrated]

    - by user132750
    I am making a Garfield comic viewer in C#. I have a button that saves the comic on screen to the computer. However, when I compile it from Visual C# Express, it saves perfectly. When I run the exe file from the directory, I get an unhandled exception message stating "A generic error occurred in GDI+". Here is my saving code: private void save_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { using (SaveFileDialog sfdlg = new SaveFileDialog()) { sfdlg.Title = "Save Dialog"; sfdlg.Filter = "Bitmap Images (*.bmp)|*.bmp|All files(*.*)|*.*"; if (sfdlg.ShowDialog(this) == DialogResult.OK) { using (Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap(pictureBox1.Image.Width, pictureBox1.Image.Height)) { pictureBox1.DrawToBitmap(bmp, new Rectangle(0, 0, bmp.Width, bmp.Height)); pictureBox1.Image = new Bitmap(pictureBox1.Image.Width, pictureBox1.Image.Height); pictureBox1.Image.Save("c://cc.Jpg"); bmp.Save(sfdlg.FileName); pictureBox1.ImageLocation = "http://garfield.com/uploads/strips" + "/" + whole.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd") + ".jpg"; MessageBox.Show("Comic Saved."); } } } } What can I do?

  • Why isn't my div scrolling horizontally when adding multiple images?

    - by George
    I have an outer div, and inside of that, I have an inner div which contains a list of images. When the images are wider than the outer div, I want to have it scroll horizontally, but instead, it just puts the image on the next line instead of expanding. If I add many rows, the div does scroll vertically, but horizontally, it doesn't do it. This happens on every browser I've tried - Firefox, Chrome, IE, and Safari. Here is the css: #grid-container { left:33px; position:relative; width:300px; } #grid { width:310px; height:400px; overflow:auto; margin-bottom: 15px; } #grid-container ul { width:305px; } #grid-container li { float:left; list-style-type:none; padding:5px 15px 5px 15px; height:88px; text-align:center; } .image-row { float:left; margin-left: 10px; } .grid-image { height:50px; margin-left:-20px; } Here is the html: <div id="grid-container"> <div id="grid"> <div id="row1" class="image-row"> <ul> <li> <img id="img1" class="grid-image" src="images/img1.jpg"> </li> <li> <img id="img2" class="grid-image" src="images/img2.jpg"> </li> <li> <img id="img3" class="grid-image" src="images/img3.jpg"> </li> <li> <img id="img4" class="grid-image" src="images/img4.jpg"> </li> </ul> </div> <div id="row1" class="image-row"> <ul> <li> <img id="img5" class="grid-image" src="images/img5.jpg"> </li> <li> <img id="img6" class="grid-image" src="images/img6.jpg"> </li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> The problem is img4 is showing on the second row (with img5 and img5 on the third row), even though it should on the first row and the grid div should scroll horizontally. It does scroll vertically. Can I force the div to expand? If I remove the width from the grid div, I do get the horizontal scroll bar, but the image is still on the second row.

  • "Too much recursion" error when loading the same page with a hash

    - by Elliott
    Hi, I have a site w/ an image gallery ("Portfolio") page. There is drop-down navigation that allows a user to view a specific image in the portfolio from any page on the site. The links in the navigation use a hash, and that hash is read and converted into a string of an image filename. The image src attribute on the /portfolio/ page is then swapped out with the new image filename. This works fine if I'm clicking the dropdown link from a page OTHER THAN the /portfolio/ page itself. However if I take the same action from the /portfolio/ page, I get a "too much recursion" error in Firefox. Here's the code: Snippet of the nav markup: <li>Portfolio Category A <ul> <li><a href="/portfolio/#dining-room-table">Dining Room Table</a></li> <li><a href="/portfolio/#bathroom-mirror">Bathroom Mirror</a></li> </ul> </li> JS that reads the hash, converts it to an image filename, and swaps out the image on the page: $(document).ready(function() { if(location.pathname.indexOf("/portfolio/") > -1) { var hash = location.hash; var new_image = hash.replace("#", "")+".jpg"; swapImage(new_image); } }); function swapImage(new_image) { setTimeout(function() { $("img#current-image").attr("src", "/images/portfolio/work/"+new_image); }, 100); } I'm using the setTimeout function because I'm fading out the old image before making the swap, then fading it back in. I initially thought this was the function that was causing the recursion error, but when I remove the setTimeout I still have this problem. Does this have to do with a closure I'm not aware of? I'm pretty green on closures. JS that listens for the click on the nav: $("nav.main li.dropdown li ul li").click(function() { $(this).find("a").click(); $("nav.main").find("ul ul").hide(); $("nav.main li.hover").removeClass("hover"); }); I haven't implemented the fade in/out functionality for the dropdown nav yet, but I have implemented it for Next and Previous arrows, which can also be used to swap out images using the same swapImage function. Here's that code: $("#scroll-arrows a").click(function() { $("#current-image").animate({ opacity: 0 }, 100); var current_image = $("#current-image").attr("src").split("/").pop(); var new_image; var positions = getPositions(current_image); if($(this).is(".right")) { new_image = positions.next_img; } else { new_image = positions.prev_img; } swapImage(new_image); $("#current-image").animate({ opacity: 1 }, 100); return false; }); Here's the error I'm getting in Firefox: too much recursion var ret = handleObj.handler.apply( this, arguments ); jquery.js (line 1936) Thanks for any advice.

  • How to directly rotate CVImageBuffer image in IOS 4 without converting to UIImage?

    - by Ian Charnas
    I am using OpenCV 2.2 on the iPhone to detect faces. I'm using the IOS 4's AVCaptureSession to get access to the camera stream, as seen in the code that follows. My challenge is that the video frames come in as CVBufferRef (pointers to CVImageBuffer) objects, and they come in oriented as a landscape, 480px wide by 300px high. This is fine if you are holding the phone sideways, but when the phone is held in the upright position I want to rotate these frames 90 degrees clockwise so that OpenCV can find the faces correctly. I could convert the CVBufferRef to a CGImage, then to a UIImage, and then rotate, as this person is doing: Rotate CGImage taken from video frame However that wastes a lot of CPU. I'm looking for a faster way to rotate the images coming in, ideally using the GPU to do this processing if possible. Any ideas? Ian Code Sample: -(void) startCameraCapture { // Start up the face detector faceDetector = [[FaceDetector alloc] initWithCascade:@"haarcascade_frontalface_alt2" withFileExtension:@"xml"]; // Create the AVCapture Session session = [[AVCaptureSession alloc] init]; // create a preview layer to show the output from the camera AVCaptureVideoPreviewLayer *previewLayer = [AVCaptureVideoPreviewLayer layerWithSession:session]; previewLayer.frame = previewView.frame; previewLayer.videoGravity = AVLayerVideoGravityResizeAspectFill; [previewView.layer addSublayer:previewLayer]; // Get the default camera device AVCaptureDevice* camera = [AVCaptureDevice defaultDeviceWithMediaType:AVMediaTypeVideo]; // Create a AVCaptureInput with the camera device NSError *error=nil; AVCaptureInput* cameraInput = [[AVCaptureDeviceInput alloc] initWithDevice:camera error:&error]; if (cameraInput == nil) { NSLog(@"Error to create camera capture:%@",error); } // Set the output AVCaptureVideoDataOutput* videoOutput = [[AVCaptureVideoDataOutput alloc] init]; videoOutput.alwaysDiscardsLateVideoFrames = YES; // create a queue besides the main thread queue to run the capture on dispatch_queue_t captureQueue = dispatch_queue_create("catpureQueue", NULL); // setup our delegate [videoOutput setSampleBufferDelegate:self queue:captureQueue]; // release the queue. I still don't entirely understand why we're releasing it here, // but the code examples I've found indicate this is the right thing. Hmm... dispatch_release(captureQueue); // configure the pixel format videoOutput.videoSettings = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithUnsignedInt:kCVPixelFormatType_32BGRA], (id)kCVPixelBufferPixelFormatTypeKey, nil]; // and the size of the frames we want // try AVCaptureSessionPresetLow if this is too slow... [session setSessionPreset:AVCaptureSessionPresetMedium]; // If you wish to cap the frame rate to a known value, such as 10 fps, set // minFrameDuration. videoOutput.minFrameDuration = CMTimeMake(1, 10); // Add the input and output [session addInput:cameraInput]; [session addOutput:videoOutput]; // Start the session [session startRunning]; } - (void)captureOutput:(AVCaptureOutput *)captureOutput didOutputSampleBuffer:(CMSampleBufferRef)sampleBuffer fromConnection:(AVCaptureConnection *)connection { // only run if we're not already processing an image if (!faceDetector.imageNeedsProcessing) { // Get CVImage from sample buffer CVImageBufferRef cvImage = CMSampleBufferGetImageBuffer(sampleBuffer); // Send the CVImage to the FaceDetector for later processing [faceDetector setImageFromCVPixelBufferRef:cvImage]; // Trigger the image processing on the main thread [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(processImage) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; } }

  • PostgreSQL, Foreign Keys, Insert speed & Django

    - by Miles
    A few days ago, I ran into an unexpected performance problem with a pretty standard Django setup. For an upcoming feature, we have to regenerate a table hourly, containing about 100k rows of data, 9M on the disk, 10M indexes according to pgAdmin. The problem is that inserting them by whatever method literally takes ages, up to 3 minutes of 100% disk busy time. That's not something you want on a production site. It doesn't matter if the inserts were in a transaction, issued via plain insert, multi-row insert, COPY FROM or even INSERT INTO t1 SELECT * FROM t2. After noticing this isn't Django's fault, I followed a trial and error route, and hey, the problem disappeared after dropping all foreign keys! Instead of 3 minutes, the INSERT INTO SELECT FROM took less than a second to execute, which isn't too surprising for a table <= 20M on the disk. What is weird is that PostgreSQL manages to slow down inserts by 180x just by using 3 foreign keys. Oh, disk activity was pure writing, as everything is cached in RAM; only writes go to the disks. It looks like PostgreSQL is working very hard to touch every row in the referred tables, as 3MB/sec * 180s is way more data than the 20MB this new table takes on disk. No WAL for the 180s case, I was testing in psql directly, in Django, add ~50% overhead for WAL logging. Tried @commit_on_success, same slowness, I had even implemented multi row insert and COPY FROM with psycopg2. That's another weird thing, how can 10M worth of inserts generate 10x 16M log segments? Table layout: id serial primary, a bunch of int32, 3 foreign keys to small table, 198 rows, 16k on disk large table, 1.2M rows, 59 data + 89 index MB on disk large table, 2.2M rows, 198 + 210MB So, am I doomed to either drop the foreign keys manually or use the table in a very un-Django way by defining saving bla_id x3 and skip using models.ForeignKey? I'd love to hear about some magical antidote / pg setting to fix this.

  • QR Code encoding and decoding using zxing

    - by helixed
    Okay, so I'm going to take the off chance that someone here has used zxing before. I'm developing a Java application, and one of the things it needs to do is encode a byte array of data into a QR Code and then decode it at a later time. Here's an example of what my encoder looks like: byte[] b = {0x48, 0x45, 0x4C, 0x4C, 0x4F}; //convert the byte array into a UTF-8 string String data; try { data = new String(b, "UTF8"); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { //the program shouldn't be able to get here return; } //get a byte matrix for the data ByteMatrix matrix; com.google.zxing.Writer writer = new QRCodeWriter(); try { matrix = writer.encode(data, com.google.zxing.BarcodeFormat.QR_CODE, width, height); } catch (com.google.zxing.WriterException e) { //exit the method return; } //generate an image from the byte matrix int width = matrix.getWidth(); int height = matrix.getHeight(); byte[][] array = matrix.getArray(); //create buffered image to draw to BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB); //iterate through the matrix and draw the pixels to the image for (int y = 0; y < height; y++) { for (int x = 0; x < width; x++) { int grayValue = array[y][x] & 0xff; image.setRGB(x, y, (grayValue == 0 ? 0 : 0xFFFFFF)); } } //write the image to the output stream ImageIO.write(image, "png", outputStream); The beginning byte array in this code is just used to test it. The actual byte data will be varied. Here's what my decoder looks like: //get the data from the input stream BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(inputStream); //convert the image to a binary bitmap source LuminanceSource source = new BufferedImageLuminanceSource(image); BinaryBitmap bitmap = new BinaryBitmap(new HybridBinarizer(source)); //decode the barcode QRCodeReader reader = new QRCodeReader(); Result result; try { result = reader.decode(bitmap, hints); } catch (ReaderException e) { //the data is improperly formatted throw new MCCDatabaseMismatchException(); } byte[] b = result.getRawBytes(); System.out.println(ByteHelper.convertUnsignedBytesToHexString(result.getText().getBytes("UTF8"))); System.out.println(ByteHelper.convertUnsignedBytesToHexString(b)); convertUnsignedBytesToHexString(byte) is a method which converts an array of bytes in a string of hexadecimal characters. When I try to run these two blocks of code together, this is the output: 48454c4c4f 202b0b78cc00ec11ec11ec11ec11ec11ec11ec Clearly the text is being encoded, but the actual bytes of data are completely off. Any help would be appreciated here. Thanks, helixed

  • I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS when MaxConcurrentOperationCount > 1

    - by kudorgyozo
    Hello i am using NSOperationQueue to download images in the background. I have created a custom NSOperation to download the images. I put the images in table cells. The problem is if I do [operationQueue setMaxConcurrentOperationCount: 10] and i scroll down several cells the program crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Every time it crashes at the same place in the table. There are 3 cells one after the other which are for the same company and have the same logo so basically it should download the images 3 times. Every other time it works fine. - (void) main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSURL *url = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:self.imageURL]; debugLog(@"downloading image: %@", self.imageURL); //NSError *error = nil; NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; [url release]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; [data release]; if (image) { if (image.size.width != ICONWIDTH && image.size.height != ICONHEIGHT) { UIImage *resizedImage; CGSize itemSize = CGSizeMake(ICONWIDTH, ICONHEIGHT); UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(itemSize); CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, itemSize.width, itemSize.height); [image drawInRect:imageRect]; resizedImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); self.theImage = resizedImage; } else { self.theImage = image; } [image release]; } [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; [pool release]; } This is how i handle downloading the images. If i comment out [delegate didFinishDownloadingImage: self]; in the function above it doesn't crash but of course it is useless. -(void) didFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *) imageDownloader { [self performSelectorOnMainThread: @selector(handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:) withObject: imageDownloader waitUntilDone: FALSE]; } -(void) handleDidFinishDownloadingImage:(ImageDownloadOperation *)imageDownloadOperation { NSArray *visiblePaths = [self.myTableView indexPathsForVisibleRows]; CompanyImgDownloaderState *stateObject = (CompanyImgDownloaderState *)[imageDownloadOperation stateObject]; if ([visiblePaths containsObject: stateObject.indexPath]) { //debugLog(@"didFinishDownloadingImage %@ %@", imageDownloader.theImage); UITableViewCell *cell = [self.myTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: stateObject.indexPath]; UIImageView *imageView = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag: 1]; if (imageDownloadOperation.theImage) { imageView.image = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; stateObject.company.icon = imageDownloadOperation.theImage; } else { imageView.image = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; stateObject.company.icon = [(TestWebServiceAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] getCylexIcon]; } } }

  • Background color for Tk in Python

    I'm writing a slideshow program with Tkinter, but I don't know how to change the background color to black instead of the standard light gray. How can this be done? import os, sys import Tkinter import Image, ImageTk import time root = Tkinter.Tk() w, h = root.winfo_screenwidth(), root.winfo_screenheight() root.overrideredirect(1) root.geometry("%dx%d+0+0" % (w, h)) root.focus_set() root.bind("<Escape>", lambda e: e.widget.quit()) image = Image.open(image_path+f) tkpi = ImageTk.PhotoImage(image) label_image = Tkinter.Label(root, image=tkpi) label_image.place(x=0,y=0,width=w,height=h) root.mainloop(0)

  • Add Expires Headers for Specific Images

    - by j-man86
    All of the expires headers articles I've looked at give more or less the following solution: ExpiresByType image/gif A2592000 ExpiresByType image/png A2592000 ExpiresByType image/jpg A2592000 ExpiresByType image/jpeg A2592000 But it doesn't make sense to me because I know which of my images are going to change and which aren't, so I want to be able to add specific expiration dates to specific image files. How would I go about this? Thanks!

  • Scriptaculous Draggable/Droppable script not working properly when dragging into a scrolling div

    - by George
    I am using the Scriptaculous Draggable/Droppable scripts and have a problem when dragging into a scrolling div. I have the following layout (based on this question): #grid-container { left:33px; position:relative; width:300px; } #grid { width:310px; height:400px; overflow:auto; margin-bottom: 15px; } #grid-container ul { width:400px; list-style-type:none; white-space: nowrap; } #grid-container li { display:inline; list-style-type:none; padding:5px 15px 5px 15px; height:88px; text-align:center } .image-row { margin-left: 10px; } .grid-image { height:50px; margin-left:-20px; } Here is the html: <div id="grid-container"> <div id="grid"> <div id="row1" class="image-row"> <ul> <li><img id="img1" class="grid-image" src="images/img1.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img2" class="grid-image" src="images/img2.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img3" class="grid-image" src="images/img3.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img4" class="grid-image" src="images/img4.jpg"></li> </ul> </div> <div id="row2" class="image-row"> <ul> <li><img id="img5" class="grid-image" src="images/img5.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img6" class="grid-image" src="images/img6.jpg"></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> I have another div with draggable items, while all of the img elements are droppable. This works very well for most cases, but when there are too many images for the grid and it has to scroll, I run into issues. I can still drag/drop into most items in that div, but when I scroll down and then try to drag onto an item in the bottom of the list, it drops on the row that was at the bottom before I scrolled the div. Even if I set the scroll attribute when creating the Draggable items, it will scroll the grid div, but not use the proper Droppable item. Is there any way to make the Draggable items drop onto the proper Droppable element regardless of if the containing div is scrolled or not?

  • Subclassing UIButton.

    - by Joshua
    I would like to subclass UIButton so I can give it a fill image, left side image and right side image which I can't do in IB. All I can do in IB is give it a full background image which would mean the background would get stretched if the text was larger than the image. How would I do this? as unlike NSButton, there is no UIButtonCell class.

  • Running out of memory with UIImage creation on an offscreen Bitmap Context by NSOperation

    - by sigsegv
    I have an app with multiple UIView subclasses that acts as pages for a UIScrollView. UIViews are moved back and forth to provide a seamless experience to the user. Since the content of the views is rather slow to draw, it's rendered on a single shared CGBitmapContext guarded by locks by NSOperation subclasses - executed one at once in an NSOperationQueue - wrapped up in an UIImage and then used by the main thread to update the content of the views. -(void)main { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc]init]; if([self isCancelled]) { return; } if(nil == data) { return; } // Buffer is the shared instance of a CG Bitmap Context wrapper class // data is a dictionary CGImageRef img = [buffer imageCreateWithData:data]; UIImage * image = [[UIImage alloc]initWithCGImage:img]; CGImageRelease(img); if([self isCancelled]) { [image release]; return; } NSDictionary * result = [[NSDictionary alloc]initWithObjectsAndKeys:image,@"image",id,@"id",nil]; // target is the instance of the UIView subclass that will use // the image [target performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateContentWithData:) withObject:result waitUntilDone:NO]; [result release]; [image release]; [pool release]; } The updateContentWithData: of the UIView subclass performed on the main thread is just as simple -(void)updateContentWithData:(NSDictionary *)someData { NSDictionary * data = [someData retain]; if([[data valueForKey:@"id"]isEqualToString:[self pendingRequestId]]) { UIImage * image = [data valueForKey:@"image"]; [self setCurrentImage:image]; [self setNeedsDisplay]; } // If the image has not been retained, it should be released together // with the dictionary retaining it [data release]; } The drawLayer:inContext: method of the subclass will just get the CGImage from the UIImage and use it to update the backing layer or part of it. No retain or release is involved in the process. The problem is that after a while I run out of memory. The number of the UIViews is static. CGImageRef and UIImage are created, retained and released correctly (or so it seems to me). Instruments does not show any leaks, just the free memory available dip constantly, rise a few times, and then dip even lower until the application is terminated. The app cycles through about 2-300 of the aforementioned pages before that, but I would expect to have the memory usage reach a more or less stable level of used memory after a bunch of pages have been already skimmed at fast speed or, since the images are up to 3MB in size, deplete way earlier. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I am using if (fupFirmLogo.PostedFile.ContentType == "image/Jpeg") { } to check if the file is a image or not. I want to allow all image extensions like PNG, GiF, Jpeg, tif , BMP etc. How should I do it.
