  • How can I "remind" users to fill in cells on a worksheet

    Hello: I have a set of cells on a worksheet called "Docs". The cell range is (B13:C23). When users get taken to this page, they are meant to fill out each of these cells with a value from 0 through 6. My Question: Is there some code that I can attach to this sheet where, if a user does not fill in a cell with anything (ie. leaves it blank) and tries to leave the sheet or close the workbook, they are somehow reminded to fill it in? Or is there a way to not let them leave the sheet until it's completed? Thanks.. Allan

    How can I go about creating a sheet with a pivot table using python libs like pyExcelerator / xlrd? I need to generate a daily report that has a pivot table to summarize data on other sheets. One option would be to have a blank template that I copy and populate with the data. In this case, is there a way to refresh the pivot from code? Any other suggestions?

    I have to import the contents of a spreadsheet in my asp.net project. The code behind is c#. I figured out how to locate the spreadsheet on the user's computer and how to import the data from a given worksheet into a datable. The problem is I may not know the name of the worksheet ahead of time. I want to present the user with a list of available worksheets and have them pick one. That is the piece I don't know how to do.     I have these three functions: When I run the first 2 functions, There's no problem, but when I run the last function (LMTD), It says 'Division by zero' yet when I debug some of the arguments have values, some don't. I know what I have to do, but I want to know why I have to do it, because it makes no sense to me. Tinn-function doesn't have Tut's arguments, so I have to add them to Tinn-function's arguments. Same goes for Tut, that doesn't know all of Tinn's arguments, and LMTD has to have both of Tinn and Tut's arguments. If I do that, it all runs smoothly. Why do I have to do this?     I am having trouble getting VBA's Evaluate() function to only execute once; it seems to always run twice. For instance, consider the trivial example below. If we run the RunEval() subroutine, it will call the EvalTest() function twice. This can be seen by the two different random numbers that get printed in the immediate window. The behavior would be the same if we were calling another subroutine with Evaluate instead of a function. Can someone explain how I can get Evaluate to execute the target function once instead of twice? Thank you.   • Copying Data to a Master sheet from other sheets without duplicates

    I have four workbooks, three of which are for data entries, and the latter which hosts all data entered in the other workbooks; as a matter of fact, it serves as a master workbook. I need code to copy data entered in each workbook in sheet 1 to be copied to the next available row on sheet 1 of the master workbook, but if the data to be copied from these individual workbooks are duplicates, then a message box should pop up displaying that its a duplicate. To be precise, I want the users to type p in column j indicating process, and click a button in the spreadsheet to copy the data to the master sheet. I would be glad for any assistance.     Does anyone have a macro that copy data from one sheet to another based on the current date? I am working with a single workbook of three sheets. Sheet one will hold the manual input of daily production figures for multiple plants, sheet two is to hold ongoing daily data, keyed on sheet one. The macro will be associated with a button, so that once clicked it would search for every row that has a date of today, and copy that row to the next available blank row on sheet two. Sample Data... Works perfectly, however, how do I get the formulas in columns C and D to follow each new row being added. I cannot just format entire column due to my sort criteria.   • Exporting WPF DataGrid to a text file in a nice looking format. Text file must be easy to read.

    Hi, Is there a simple way to export a WPF DataGrid to a text file and a .csv file? I've done some searching and can't see that there is a simple DataGrid method to do so. I have got something working (barely) by making use of the ItemsSource of the DataGrid. In my case, this is an array of structs. I do something with StreamWriters and StringBuilders (details available) and basically have: StringBuilder destination = new StringBuilder(); destination.Append(row.CreationDate); destination.Append(seperator); // seperator is '\t' or ',' for csv file destination.Append(row.ProcId); destination.Append(seperator); destination.Append(row.PartNumber); destination.Append(seperator); I do this for each struct in the array (in a loop). This works fine. The problem is that it's not easy to read the text file. The data can be of different lengths within the same column. I'd like to see something like: 2007-03-03 234238423823 823829923 2007-03-03 66 99 And of course, I get something like: 2007-03-03 234238423823 823829923 2007-03-03 66 99 It's not surprising giving that I'm using Tab delimiters, but I hope to do better. It certainly is easy to read in the DataGrid! I could of course have some logic to pad short values with spaces, but that seems quite messy. I thought there might be a better way. I also have a feeling that this is a common problem and one that has probably been solved before (hopefully within the .NET classes themselves). Thanks.

    I am a Powershell novice and have run into a challenge in reading, sorting, and outputting a csv file. The input csv has no headers, the data is as follows: 05/25/2010,18:48:33,Stop,a1usak,10.128.212.212 05/25/2010,18:48:36,Start,q2uhal,10.136.198.231 05/25/2010,18:48:09,Stop,s0upxb,10.136.198.231 I use the following piping construct to read the file, sort and output to a file: (Get-Content d:\vpnData\u62gvpn2.csv) | %{,[regex]::Split($, ",")} | sort @{Expression={$[3]}},@{Expression={$_[1]}} | out-file d:\vpnData\u62gvpn3.csv The new file is written with the following format: 05/25/2010 07:41:57 Stop a0uaar 10.128.196.160 05/25/2010 12:24:24 Start a0uaar 10.136.199.51 05/25/2010 20:00:56 Stop a0uaar 10.136.199.51 What I would like to see in the output file is a similar format to the original input file with comma dilimiters: 05/25/2010,07:41:57,Stop,a0uaar,10.128.196.160 05/25/2010,12:24:24,Start,a0uaar,10.136.199.51 05/25/2010,20:00:56,Stop,a0uaar,10.136.199.51 But I can't quite seem to get there. I'm almost of the mind that I'll have to write another segment to read the newly produced file and reset its contents to the preferred format for further processing. Thoughts?
