  • JQuery display problems?

    - by DuH
    I'm new to JQuery and was wondering how can I have Changes saved! displayed only once even if the user presses the submit button multiple times for example if a user decides to change there info three different times the text, Changes saved!Changes saved!Changes saved! is displayed i only want Changes saved! displayed once. How can I fix this problem? What part of my code needs to be fixed? Here is the JQuery code. $(function() { $('#changes-saved').hide(); $('.save-button').click(function() { $.post($('#contact-form').attr('action'), $('#contact-form').serialize(), function(html) { $('div.contact-info-form').html(html); $('#changes-saved').append('Changes saved!').show(); }); $('a').click(function () { $('#changes-saved').empty(); $('#changes-saved').hide(); }); return false; // prevent normal submit }); });

  • Accomplishing This Style of Drop-Down Menus in jQuery

    - by Maxim Z.
    I was browsing the web and found this site. I noticed how the nav bar drop-down works, and I want to implement something similar on my website. Afer going into the source code of the page, I found that those drop-down areas are contained in divs with class fOut. It turns out that this is being done with MooTools. Here is the script itself (referenced in the original page after the Mootools script itself): window.addEvent('domready', function() { $("primaryNav").getChildren("li").addEvents({ "mouseenter": function(){ $(this).addClass("hover").getChildren("a").addClass("hover"); }, "mouseleave": function(){ $(this).removeClass("hover").getChildren("a").removeClass("hover"); } }); $$(".fOut").each(function(el,i){ var ifr = $(document.createElement("iframe")); ifr.className = "ieBgIframe"; ifr.frameBorder = "0"; ifr.src="about:blank"; ifr.injectInside(el); var p = el.getParent(); p.addClass("hover"); var h = el.getSize().size.y; p.removeClass("hover"); ifr.height=h; }); $$(".olderVersionsToggle").addEvents({ "click": function(e){ var event = new Event(e); event.stop(); var p = $(this).getParent().getNext(); if(p.hasClass("open")){ p.removeClass("open"); $(this).setText("Show previous versions..."); } else{ p.addClass("open"); $(this).setText("Hide previous versions..."); } return false; } }); }); My Question(s) I have two questions about this code. How does it work? I don't quite understand what it's doing, with the iframes and all. How can this be implemented in jQuery?

  • Regexp for handling recursive arguments

    - by Matt
    Hi all, I'm a regexp novice, so I'm wondering what the regexp for the following: function {function arg1, arg2}, arg3 I'm looking to be able to just select the top-level arguments: {function arg1, arg2} & arg3 Ideally the response would be using preg_match in PHP, but almost any regexp would work fine. Thanks! Matt

  • jquery timout funcation not work properly

  • Implementing password hashing/salting algorithm from crackstation.net

    - by Mason240
    I am trying to implement a password hashing/salting algorithm from crackstation.net, but I am unsure how implement it. Storing the password upon user registration seems to be as simple as passing the password into create_hash(). $password = create_hash($_POST['Password']; I'm not following how to validate upon user login. validate_password($password, $good_hash) returns either true or false, and takes $password as parameter, so it seems like a no brainer except for the second parameter $good_hash. Where does this param come from? It is my understanding that password is turned into a hash value every time its used, and that the hash value is what is stored and compared. So why would I have both the $password and $good_hash values? Quick overview of the functions: function create_hash($password){ calls pbkdf2() } function validate_password($password, $good_hash){ calls pbkdf2() calls slow_equals() } function slow_equals($a, $b){ } function pbkdf2($algorithm, $password, $salt, $count, $key_length, $raw_output = false){ } Of course a different, better method for this would also be just as helpful. Thank you

  • ASP.NET MVC - Form Post always redirect when I just want to bind json result to a div

    - by Saxman
    Hi all, I'm having a little problem with json result. I'm submitting a contact form, and after the submission, I just want to return some json data (indicating either a success or failed and displays a message) back to the view, without causing a redirect, but it kept redirecting me to the action, here are the codes: HTML <div id="contactForm2" class="grid_6"> <div id="contactFormContainer"> @using (Html.BeginForm(MVC.Home.ActionNames.ContactForm, MVC.Home.Name, FormMethod.Post, new { id = "contactForm" })) { <p> <input type="text" tabindex="1" size="22" value="" id="contactName" class="text_input required" name="contactName" /> <label for="contactName"> <strong class="leftSpace">Your Name (required)</strong></label></p> <p> <input type="text" tabindex="2" size="22" value="" id="contactEmail" class="text_input required" name="contactEmail" /> <label for="contactEmail"> <strong class="leftSpace">Email (required)</strong></label></p> <p> <input type="text" tabindex="2" size="22" value="" id="contactPhone" class="text_input" name="contactPhone" /> <label for="contactPhone"> <strong class="leftSpace">Phone</strong></label></p> <p> <label> <strong class="leftSpace n">Message (required)</strong></label> <textarea tabindex="4" rows="4" cols="56" id="contactMessage" class="text_area required" name="contactMessage"></textarea></p> <p> <input type="submit" value="Send" tabindex="5" id="contactSubmit" class="button submit" name="contactSubmit" /></p> } </div> <div id="contactFormStatus"> </div> </div> Controller [HttpPost] public virtual JsonResult ContactForm(FormCollection formCollection) { var name = formCollection["contactName"]; var email = formCollection["contactEmail"]; var phone = formCollection["contactPhone"]; var message = formCollection["contactMessage"]; if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(name) || string.IsNullOrEmpty(email) || string.IsNullOrEmpty(message)) { return Json(new { success = false, message = "Please complete all the required fields so that I can get back to you. Thanks." }); } // Insert contact form data here... return Json(new { success = true, message = "Your inquery has been sent. Thank you." }); } javascript $(document).ready(function () { $('#contactSubmit').live('click', function () { var form = $('#contactForm'); var formData = form.serialize(); $.post('/Home/ContactForm', formData, function (result) { var status = $('#contactFormStatus'); if (result.success) { $('#contactForm')[0].reset; } status.append(result.message); }, 'json' ); return false; }); }); I've also tried this javascript, but also got a redirect $(document).ready(function () { $('#contactSubmit').live('click', function () { var form = $('#contactForm'); var formData = form.serialize(); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/Home/ContactForm', data: formData, success: function (result) { SubmitContactResult(result); }, cache: false }); }); function SubmitContactResult(result) { var status = $('#contactFormStatus'); if (result.success) { $('#contactForm')[0].reset; } status.append(result.message); } }); Any idea what's going on with my code? Thank you very much.

  • Resolve php endless recursion issue

    - by Matt
    Hey all, I'm currently running into an endless recursion situation. I'm implementing a message service that calls various object methods.. it's quite similar to observer pattern.. Here's whats going on: Dispatcher.php class Dispatcher { ... public function message($name, $method) { // Find the object based on the name $object = $this->findObjectByName($name); // Slight psuedocode.. for ease of example if($this->not_initialized($object)) $object = new $object(); // This is where it locks up. } return $object->$method(); ... } class A { function __construct() { $Dispatcher->message("B", "getName"); } public function getName() { return "Class A"; } } class B { function __construct() { // Assume $Dispatcher is the classes $Dispatcher->message("A", "getName"); } public function getName() { return "Class B"; } } It locks up when neither object is initialized. It just goes back and forth from message each other and no one can be initialized. I'm looking for some kind of queue implementation that will make messages wait for each other.. One where the return values still get set. I'm looking to have as little boilerplate code in class A and class B as possible Any help would be immensely helpful.. Thanks! Matt Mueller

  • how to modify this jquery syntax

    - by Gandalf StormCrow
    Hi all, this example below works when hover event is trigered and when its not, its working for elements already in DOM, but when element created dynamically it doesn't work, I realize I need to use jQuery live() or delegate() for this, the thing is I tried to modify it and its not producing the results as expected, here is the working code : $(".sidebar li").hover( function(){ $(this).css("background-color", "#F9F4D0"); $(this).append($('<button class="promoter" type="button" title="Active promotion"></button>')); }, function(){ $(this).css("background-color", "#F9FAFA"); $(this).children("button").remove(); } ); Here is the bit when I wanted to add live but it's not producing correct results : $(".sidebar li").live('hover', function(){ $(this).css("background-color", "#F9F4D0"); $(this).append($('<button class="promoter" type="button" title="Active promotion"></button>')); }, function(){ $(this).css("background-color", "#F9FAFA"); $(this).children("button").remove(); } ); Where did I made mistake, thank you

  • How do I get jqGrid to work using ASP.NET + JSON on the backend?

    - by briandus
    Hi friends, ok, I'm back. I totally simplified my problem to just three simple fields and I'm still stuck on the same line using the addJSONData method. I've been stuck on this for days and no matter how I rework the ajax call, the json string, blah blah blah...I can NOT get this to work! I can't even get it to work as a function when adding one row of data manually. Can anyone PLEASE post a working sample of jqGrid that works with ASP.NET and JSON? Would you please include 2-3 fields (string, integer and date preferably?) I would be happy to see a working sample of jqGrid and just the manual addition of a JSON object using the addJSONData method. Thanks SO MUCH!! If I ever get this working, I will post a full code sample for all the other posting for help from ASP.NET, JSON users stuck on this as well. Again. THANKS!! tbl.addJSONData(objGridData); //err: tbl.addJSONData is not a function!! Here is what Firebug is showing when I receive this message: • objGridData Object total=1 page=1 records=5 rows=[5] ? • How can I call a method on a custom object created in JavaScript using C#?

    - by just in case
    I have a WebBrowser control. I have added some JavaScript into the head tag and I can see it is working as expected by adding an alert. Inside of this js I am creating a function and adding some members to it's prototype like so: function test() { } test.prototype.run = function() { alert('success!') } function createTest() { return new test() } Then back inside of C# I am doing: dynamic test = this.browser.InvokeScript("createTest"); test.run(); I can see that the test object is some ComObject but when I call run() nothing happens. I get no error but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to call this type of custom object? Also suppose I wanted to get rid of the createTest() method, how can I create a new instance of test from C#? Also, for bonus points, is there anything special I need to know about attaching events to this custom object (on say a 'complete' member) such that it will callback into my C# code?

  • Error Handling for Application in PHP

    - by Zubair1
    I was wondering if someone can show me a good way to handle errors in my PHP app, that i am also easily able to reuse in my codes. So far i have been using the following functions: Inline Errors function display_errors_for($fieldname) { global $errors; if (isset($errors[$fieldname])) { return '<label for="' .$fieldname. '" class="error">' . ucfirst($errors[$fieldname]). '</label>'; } else { return false; } } All Errrors function display_all_errors($showCounter = true) { global $errors; $counter = 0; foreach ($errors as $errorFieldName => $errorText) { if ($showCounter == true) { $counter++; echo '<li>' . $counter . ' - <label for="' .$errorFieldName. '">' .$errorText. '</label></li>'; } else { echo '<li><label for="' .$errorFieldName. '">' .$errorText. '</label></li>'; } } } I have a $errors = array(); defined on the top of my global file, so it is appended to all files. The way i use it is that if i encounter an error, i push a new error key/value to the $errors array holder, something like the following: if (strlen($username) < 3) { $errors['username'] = "usernames cannot be less then 3 characters."; } This all works great and all, But i wondering if some one has a better approach for this? with classes? i don't think i want to use Exceptions with try/catch seems like an overkill to me. I'm planning to make a new app, and i'll be getting my hands wet with OOP alot, though i have already made apps using OOP but this time i'm planning to go even deeper and use OOP approach more extensively. What i have in mind is something like this, though its just a basic class i will add further detail to it as i go deeper and deeper in my app to see what it needs. class Errors { public $errors = array(); public function __construct() { // Initialize Default Values // Initialize Methods } public function __destruct() { //nothing here too... } public function add($errorField, $errorDesc) { if (!is_string($errorField)) return false; if (!is_string($errorDesc)) return false; $this->errors[$errorField] = $errorDesc; } public function display($errorsArray) { // code to iterate through the array and display all errors. } } Please share your thoughts, if this is a good way to make a reusable class to store and display errors for an entire app, or is getting more familiar with exceptions and try/catch my only choice?

  • How can I extend a LinkButton to allow HTML text in Flex?

    - by John Isaacks
    I am feeding the label to my LinkButton directly from a string I receive from a Google API that puts html to format the label. I want to extend linkbutton to allow this. I wrote a class myself to allow html text for the label and that aspect of it works but now the background that appears when you hover is way too big. I tried to override measure() to fix this but I didn't have a clue how. Here is the class I wrote: package com.kranichs.components { import mx.controls.LinkButton; public class HTMLLinkButton extends LinkButton { protected var _isHTML:Boolean; public function HTMLLinkButton() { super(); } [Bindable] public function set isHTML(value:Boolean):void { _isHTML = value; } public function get isHTML():Boolean { return _isHTML; } override protected function updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth:Number, unscaledHeight:Number):void { super.updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight); if(_isHTML) { textField.htmlText = label; } } } }

  • jQuery internals: Organization of the jQuery Object

    - by sonofdelphi
    I was going through the source code of jQuery. I'm having trouble understanding the wrapping strategy for the jQuery object. (function( window, undefined ) { // Define a local copy of jQuery var jQuery = function( selector, context ) { // The jQuery object is actually just the init constructor 'enhanced' return new jQuery.fn.init( selector, context ); }, .... .... .... // Expose jQuery to the global object window.jQuery = window.$ = jQuery; })(window); Specifically, what I'm not able to understand stems from the first line. What is the outermost unnamed container function? Why is it required? Why is the container function anonymous? What is the need for the outermost '(' parantheses ?

  • Disable Internet Explorer 8 Developer Tools

    Is there a way to either disable Internet Explorer 8 Developer Tools, or at least change the shortcut key mapping? I'm working on an ASP.NET AJAX app that has used the F12 key for a function for years (it's actually a hold over from the original DOS app). Customers have used this key for the sam function for nearly 15 years and we'd really like to avoid having to move that function. Cheers
