• Nullable Date column merge problem

  I am using JPA with openjpa implementation beneath, on a Geronimo application server. I am also using MySQL database. I have a problem with updating object with nullable Date property. When I'm trying to merge entity with Date property set to null, no sql update script is generated (or when other fields are modified, sql update script is generated, but date field is ommited from it). If date field is set to some other not null value, update script is properly generated. Did anyone have problem like that?

• BLOB Reading via IHttpAsyncHandler

  Hi, I am storing images in SQL Server 2000 database (BLOB type). There is a web page in my ASP.NET application which need to show a lot images to the end user and i want to handle browser's requests for images through a IHttpAsyncHandler. I found a similer post on codeproject "Asynchronous HTTP Handler for Asynchronous BLOB DataReader." But for some reasons, page get freeze upon completion of "BeginProcessRequest" method and "EndProcessRequest" method never get call. Can anyone look at this post and let me know whats wrong in that post? OR what i need to do to complete this task (BLOB Reading via IHttpAsyncHandler)?

  I have a simple example of a blog: a Post table, a Tag table and a Post_Tag_MM lookup table linking the two tables. I use this hql query in order to fetch all posts, that DONT have some tags: var result = session .CreateQuery(@" select p from Post p join p.Tags t where (select count(ti) from p.Tags ti where ti.Uid in (:uidList)) = 0 ") .SetParameterList("uidList", uidList) .SetResultTransformer(new DistinctRootEntityResultTransformer()) .List<Post>(); How can this many-to-many query and the subselect translated into a criteria query? • Flex Datagrid editing cells in same row not firing collection change event

  Hi, I am using the flex datagrid to allow the user to edit some data. My update process relies on a CollectionEvent of type update. Basically I catch this event package the values and update the database. However, if the user edits a cell then moves to edit a cell in the same row the value is updated but a collection event is not fired. Only when clicking out of the row the event is fired. Has anyone had experience with this. I have heard the datagrid is a little quirky is this one of those quirks or am I doing this all wrong? Any help appreciated.

  I'm trying to strip content titles out of the middle of text strings. Could I use regex to strip everything out of this string except for the title (in italics) in these strings? Or is there a better way? Joe User wrote a blog post called The 10 Best Regex Expressions in the category Regex. Jane User wrote a blog post called Regex is Hard! in the category TechProblems. I've tried to come up with a regex expression to cover this, but I think it might need two. The trick is that the text in bold is always the same, so you could search for that, like this: regex: delete everything before and including wrote a blog post called regex: delete in the category and everything after it.

  Hey, please help a newbie in Rails :) I have protect_from_forgery call (which is given by default) with no attributes in my ApplicationController class. Basically here's the code: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base helper :all # include all helpers, all the time protect_from_forgery helper_method :current_user_session, :current_user filter_parameter_logging :password, :password_confirmation What I assume it should do is: it should prevent any POST requests without correct authenticity_token. But when I send post request with jQuery like the one below, it works fine (there's update statement that is executed in the database)! $.post($(this).attr("href"), { _method: "PUT", data: { test: true } }); I see in console that there's no authenticity_token among sent parameters, but request is still considered valid. Why is that?

  What would be the west way to open a window.showModalDialog on linkbutton when updating a form? I have a linkbutton on form that allows me to update the data, I want to be able to check if the data updatedin this case , parameter status of client is active I want to be able to open a window to fill some more information. • OTA plist app install from within phonegap app for iPad

  I am trying to initiate a OTA app install from within a phonegap iPad app. I have tried this: var url = "http://www.example.com/test.plist"; window.open("itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=" + url, "_blank"); This works in iOS 5 but NOT iOS 6. I have also tried using the ChildBrowser plugin to point to a page with a link to the OTA app install but that doesn't work either. (If I visit the webpage directly from within the native iPad browser, it works fine) Does anyone know how I can initiate a OTA app install from within the phonegap iPad app? (must work in iOS 5 and iOS 6) I am trying to implement an auto update feature within a Ad-Hock iPad app (not through App Store). So when the app detects that there is a new update, it will prompt the user to install the new update and thats where I need this functionality.

• Rails choking on the content of this request because of protect_from_forgery

  I'm trying to simply test my RESTful API with cURL. Using the following invocation: curl -d "name=jimmy" -H "Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded" http://127.0.0.1:3000/people.xml -i Rails is dying though: ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken (ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken): :8:in `synchronize' Looks like it's running this through a protect_from_forgery filter. I thought protect_from_forgery is excluded for non-HTML HTTP POST/PUT/DELETE type requests? This is clearly targeting the XML format. If I pass actual XML content, it works. But my users will be submitting POST data as URL encoded parameters. I know all the various ways I can disable protect_from_forgery but what's the proper way of handling this? I want to leave it on so that when I do have HTML based forms and handle format.html, I don't forget to re-enable it for then. I want users to be able to make HTTP POST requests to my XML-based API though and not get bombarded with this.

  I'm adding a new Row to a BindingSource that is Bound to a DataGridView source.AddNew(); After this, use BindingSource to get the newly added row is return the next row in the DataGridView when its sorted. ROW "A" ROW "B" <- myBindingSource.AddNew(); ROW "C" myBindingSource.Current gives ROW "C". (it became the selected row in the DataGridView) I need this because I want to update just the newly added row DataRowView drv = (DataRowView)myBindingSource.Current; myTableAdapter.Update(drv.Row); and not the entire table. myTableAdapter.Update(myDataSet.myTable); and also, I would like to have this newly added line selected in the DataGridView after insertion. is it possible in some way?

• SqlServer2008 - Can I Alter a Scalar Function while it is referenced in many places

  We have a scalar function that returns a DateTime. It performs a couple of quick table selects to get its return value. This function is already in use throughout the database - in default constraints, stored procs, etc. I would like to change the implementation of the function (to remove the table hits and make it more efficient) but apparently I can't do that while it is referenced by other objects in the database. Will I actually need to update every object in the database that references it to remove the reference, update the function and then update all those objects to restore the reference to the function? Thanks for any insight you can give.

The problem I am having is that after I load the entity and try to update the collection, I don't get any errors, but the collection is never updated: Entity: @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.PERSIST) @JoinTable protected List<User> users; File Servlet @In private EntityQuery<File> File_findById; ... File file = File_findById(fileId); file.getUsers().add(user); session.update(file); Even though I call session.update(file) and I see stuff in hibernate logs, I don't see anything in the database indicating that it was saved.   Hi, how do I pass a 2-dimensional array from javascript to ruby, please? I have this on client side: function send_data() { var testdata = { "1": { "name": "client_1", "note": "bigboy" }, "2": { "name": "client_2", "note": "smallboy" } } console.log(testdata); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'test', dataType: 'json', data: testdata }); } and this on server side: post '/test' do p params end but I can't get it right. The best I could get on server side is something like {"1"=>"[object Object]", "2"=>"[object Object]"} I tried to add JSON.stringify on client side and JSON.parse on server side, but the first resulted in {"{\"1\":{\"name\":\"client_1\",\"note\":\"bigboy\"},\"2\":{\"name\":\"client_2\",\"note\":\"smallboy\"}}"=>nil} while the latter has thrown a TypeError - can't convert Hash into String. Could anyone help, or maybe post a short snippet of correct code, please? Thank you

• Additional/Optional query string parameters in URI Template in WCF

  I have written a simple REST Service in WCF in which I have created 2 method using same URI Template but with different Method(POST and GET). • Quick question about PayPal IPN Security

  PayPal IPN sends a POST request with a variable number of fields to the notify URL, in order to confirm that the POST request is legit we need to resubmit the same request along with a additional cmd=_notify-validate field to PayPal, which then replies SUCCESS or FAILURE. My question is, why do we need to resend the request to PayPal? Wouldn't something like this work? if (preg_match('~^(?:.+[.])?paypal[.]com$~i', gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REQUEST_ADDR'])) > 0) { // request came from PayPal, it's legit. } Iff we can trust the server to correctly resolve IPs, I assume we can trust PayPal POST requests, no?

• Able to ping but cannot browse after several hours running of my python program

  It's a GUI program I wrote in python checking website/server status running on my XP SP3, multi threads are used to check different site/server. After several hours running, the program starts to get urlopen error timed out all the time, and this always happens right after a POST request from a server(not a certain one, might be A or B or C), and it's also not the first POST request causing the problem, normally after several hours running and it happens to make a POST request at an unknown moment, all you get from then on is urlopen error timed out. I'm still able to ping but cannot browse any site, once the program closed everything's fine. It's definitely the program causing this problem, well I just don't know how to debug/check what the problem is, also don't know if it's from OS side or my program wasting too many resources/connections(are you still able to ping when too many connections used?), would anybody please help me out?

• asp.net InsertCommand to return latest insert ID

  Dear all, I'm unable to retrieve the latest inserted id from my SQL Server 2000 db using a typed dataset in asp.NET I have created a tableadapter and I ticked the "Refresh datatable" and "Generate Insert, Update and Delete statements". This auto-generates the Fill and GetData methods, and the Insert, Update, Select and Delete statements. I have tried every possible solution in this thread http://forums.asp.net/t/990365.aspx but I'm still unsuccesfull, it always returns 1(=number of affected rows). I do not want to create a seperate insert method as the auto-generated insertCommand perfectly suits my needs. As suggested in the thread above, I have tried to update the InsertCommand SQL syntax to add SELECT SCOPY_IDENTITY() or something similar, I have tried to add a parameter of type ReturnValue, but all I get is the number of affected rows. Does anyone has a different take on this? Thanks in advance! Stijn

• Question on SyndicationItem - ASP.NET

  I am trying to understand how to use SyndicationItem to display feed which is RSS 2.0 or Atom compliant. What property of SyndicationItem gives me the entire description of the post. It appears that there is a Summary property but per MSDN, it gives only the Summary. Also I have noticed that in my RSS feed reader, some RSS feeds show only a few lines of description and I have to click and go to the website for the full post. But in some feeds, I can see the full post within the Feed Reader. Can someone explain how all this comes together? PS: My web page lets user enter a RSS feed address and I need to validate if the feed exists. If it does, I need to grab the last x items and show the feed's title and full description

• Jquery Fast image switching

  Hi, I have a php class that generates a map image depending on my db data. It is periodically updated thru a serInterval loop. I am trying to update it with no flickering but I just can't. I've tried different methods (preloader, imageswitcher) with no success. //first load function map() { $("#map").html("<img src=map.php?randval="+Math.random()+">"); } //update it from setInterval calls function updatemap() { $("#map").fadeOut(function() { $(this).load(function() { $(this).fadeIn(); }); $(this).attr("src", "map.php?randval="+Math.random()); }) } Is there any way to update the image with no flickering at all? I would prefer an inmediate swap insteado of a fade. The problem I'm having is that after calling updatemap() the image just dissapears. ¿Maybe it is a problem with the attribute src I am parsing?   For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

  I have a SwingWorker as follows: public class MainWorker extends SwingWorker(Void, MyObject) { : : } I invoked the above Swing Worker from EDT: MainWorker mainWorker = new MainWorker(); mainWorker.execute(); Now, the mainWorker creates 10 instances of a MyTask class so that each instance will run on its own thread so as to complete the work faster. But the problem is I want to update the gui from time to time while the tasks are running. I know that if the task was executed by the mainWorker itself, I could have used publish() and process() methods to update the gui. But as the tasks are executed by threads different from the Swingworker thread, how can I update the gui from intermediate results generated by threads executing tasks.

• Django, ModelForms, User and UserProfile - not hashing password
