• unable to connect to ASP.Net development server issue

  Hello everyone, I am debugging codeplex simple project = http://www.codeplex.com/sl2videoplayer. I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + Windows Vista x86 Enterprise. I have not modified any code of this codeplex project, and just press F5 to run VideoPlayerWeb project. The current issue I met with is error message -- "Unable to connect to ASP.Net Development Server". Here is my screen snapshots when clicking F5. • Hadoop or Hadoop Streaming for MapReduce on AWS

  I'm about to start a mapreduce project which will run on AWS and I am presented with a choice, to either use Java or C++. I understand that writing the project in Java would make more functionality available to me, however C++ could pull it off too, through Hadoop Streaming. Mind you, I have little background in either language. A similar project has been done in C++ and the code is available to me. So my question: is this extra functionality available through AWS or is it only relevant if you have more control over the cloud? Is there anything else I should bear in mind in order to make a decision, like availability of plugins for hadoop that work better with one language or the other? Thanks in advance

  I have something that splits each line of a file. here is a sample of a line it might split "James","Project5","15/05/2010","3" I have this code Private Sub Command1_Click() Open jobs For Input As #1 Do While Not EOF(1) Line Input #1, tmpstring splititems = Split(tmpstring, ",") Form1.Print splititems(0) Form1.Print splititems(1); Form1.Print splititems(2); Form1.Print splititems(3) Loop Close #1 End Sub I would like it to instead of outputting a name each time there is a name, just put the project under the name that is already there. e.g. if there was another line in the file with the name james and he had been working on project 2 in that line I would like it to just put project 2 under the "James" that had already been put on the form. • Application deployment problem

  Hello Everyone, I developed an application using VS 2008 and MS Access2007 and it works fine. Now have to make a setup of it(this is my first project). I gone through many tutorials about deployment, I tried VS 2008 setup and deployment, but after installation it only runs in my machine and not in others..sometimes it shows error(The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine(that machine had both VS2008 and MS Access installed)). I been a week since, i tried what i can and still trying, cant believe that i am strucked here, nothing seems to work. Please help...   Hello, I have a solution with multiple projects - executable, library, and others(unimportant right now). Library contains EF entity classes and executable uses them. When I'm working on some code from the executable then every entity that I use is marked as an error and compiler says that I should check usings and references. Reference in the executable project is set to library project(not the dll itself). When I build the library project then everything gets back to normal, but when I start typing then it happens again. I could live with it, but intelli sense isn't working and that is quite a disadvantage. Any ideas?

• Batch build using IAR tools

  I am trying to do a batch build of a project using IAR tools. The processor is a CC2530, and it builds fine in the IDE. I have followed the documentation for batch build (Project/Batch Build) and created a .cspy file that is suppose to be my batch file, but in the comments in that file it indicates that I need a debug file (.ubrof) to execute with it. I can't find a .ubrof file and I have searched the whole project directory structure. Also, I want my batch build to build a production version without the debugging information. Where do I get a .ubrof file? How do I do a production batch build using IAR tools?

• How to zoom in google map (J2ME)

  Hi all, I am trying to develop a J2ME application that could retrieve the google map by passing in the GPS coordinates. From http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Google_Maps_API_in_Java_ME, it provides the Utility method for map scrolling. Basically it states that i need to include MicroFloat library in my project. Here's what i did (Not sure if i am doing it right) Create a project, build the code. Add the jar file into my current project lib. but i am still getting error from codes. Example double LToY(double y) { return Math.round( offset - radius * Double.longBitsToDouble(MicroDouble.log( Double.doubleToLongBits( (1 + Math.sin(Math.toRadians(y))) / (1 - Math.sin(Math.toRadians(y))) ) )) / 2); } Am i missing any import statment??? Btw i am using netbeans 6.5. Thanks for any guidance... Kevin

• Ruby on Rails - differentiating plural vs singular resource in a REST API

  I'm working on building the URLs for my REST API before I begin writing any code. Rails REST magic is fantastic, but I'm slightly bothered the formatting of a URL such as: http://myproject/projects/5 where Project is my resource and 5 is the project_id. I think if a user is looking to retrieve all of their projects, then a respective HTTP GET http://myproject/projects makes sense. However if they're looking to retrieve information on a singular resource, such as a project, then it makes sense to have http://myproject/project/5 vs http://myproject/projects/5. Is it best to avoid this headache, or do some of you share a similar concern and even better - have a working solution?

  I know a lot of programmers are paid less than their managers by significant amounts, as highlighted there. How often is it that a programmer gets paid more than his manager? Or phrased different how many programmers are paid more than their managers? Personally, I know of one case. I'm asking to see how common is the case. When I say "manager", I mean anyone further up their organization hierarchy.
